Introduction
The Boston  Celtics are  a National    Basketball   Association  team 
situated   in Boston,  Massachusets.  They  play  in  the  Atlantic  
Division of the  Eastern  Conference. Boston Celtics was  founded  
in  1946.  They  play  their  home   games   at  the TD   Garden ,  which 
they  share  with  the Boston  Bruins of  the NHL.  Their  mascot  is 
 “ Lucky  the  Leprechaun “.
Rivalries
Los  Angeles Lakers 
The rivalry  between  the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers involves the 
two most storied basketball franchises in NBA history. It has been called the 
best  rivalry in the NBA. The two  teams  have met a  record  twelve  times  in 
the NBA  Finals , starting with their  first  Finals  meeting  in 1959.
Philadelphia 76ers
The Celtics–76ers rivalry is a rivalry between the Celtics and Philadelphia 
76ers. The two teams have the most meetings in the NBA Playoffs, playing 
each  other  in 19 series with the Celtics winning 12 of  them .
Boston Celtics Legends
Bill   Russel
Bill Russel – He played center  position  in Celtics. He’s a  five  time  winner  of the NBA 
Most Valuable  Player  Award. Russel was  part  of the dynasty that won 11 NBA 
Championships  during  his 13  year   careerRussell  holds the record for the most 
championships won by an athlete in a North American sports  league . Russell is 
considered  one of the best players in NBA history.
Robert Joseph“Bob“ Cousy
Robert Joseph „Bob“ Cousy – played point guard position for the Celtics 
from 1950-1963.  Cousy was initially drafted as the third  overall   pick  in the 
first round of the 1950 NBA  Draft  by the Tri-Cities Blackhawks, but after he 
refused to  report , he was picked up by Boston. Cousy had a very successful 
career with the Celtics, playing on six championship teams, being voted into 
13 NBA All  Star  Games.
Larry   Bird
Larry Joe Bird – Born December  7, 1956. He was  sixth  overall pick by Boston Celtics. 
Bird  started  at SF* and PF* for  thirteen  seasons.  Bird was a 12-time NBA All-Star and was 
named  the league’s MVP* three times. He played his  entire  professional career for Boston, 
winning three NBA championships. Due to chronic  back  problems, he retired as a player 
in 1992. He was a  member  of the  Dream  Team that won the  gold   medal  at the 1992 Summer 
Olympics .

Rising Star
Rajon  Rondo
Rajon  Pierre  Rondo (born February 22, 1986) – plays Point Guard in the Celtics. He played 
for two  years  at Kentucky  before  declaring for the2006 NBA Draft. During the draft, he was 
selected 21st overall by the  Phoenix  Suns, and was subsequently traded to the Boston Celtics, 
where he made his NBA debut as a rookie during the 2006–07 season.
Rondo played a supporting  role  before he established  himself  as the starting point guard for 
the Celtics during the 2007–08 season. That season, Rondo earned his first NBA 
championship, playing alongside All- Stars   Kevin  Garnett, Ray  Allen  and Paul  Pierce .

The Big 3
Kevin Maurice Garnett also  known  by his initials KG and The  Beast . He made his Boston 
debut with a strong  performance  against the Washington Wizards, with 22  points  and 20 
rebounds. He plays C and PF.
Ray Allen One of the most accurate 3-point and free throw shooters in NBA history, he is a ten-
time NBA All-Star and won an  Olympic  gold medal as a member of the 2000 United  States  
men's basketball team. Allen has acted in two  films , including a  lead  role in the 1998 Spike 
Lee  film  He Got  Game . Allen is the NBA all-time leader  both  in three-point field  goals  made and 
attempted.
Paul Pierce  He holds the Celtics' record for most three-point field goals made. He also ranks 
third in team history in games played, second in points scored, seventh in  total  rebounds, fifth in 
total assists, and second in total  steals . His  nickname  "The  Truth " was  given  to him by  Shaquille  
O'Neal on  March  15, 2001.
