For and against modern technology for communication

good way to communicate with friends and family, especially contact with those who are far away for example in other countrys. On the other hand many people work with the Internet because it is the fastest and easiest way to contact others and send files. The other way of modern communication is to call somebody by mobilephone also you can send SMS's to others. Mobilephone is good when you are not at home because everyone can catch you by calling. But the Internet also has its negative sides. The main problem of it is the spreading of viruses. A virus on your computer can cause that the computer to collapse. And then you could lose some files from your computer. Fixing the problem is expencive and takes time. Also the mobilephone has its negative sides because you need a lot of money to buy it and they are not very resistant. Calling somebody by a mobilephone can be very expensive when you call to a dial telephone.

Technology in our daily lives

good thing Technology plays an increasingly important part in our daily lives. While many technological developments may be beneficial in the field of medicine, for instance there are many others whose effects are less positive. We may find examples of these in the world of work, in the area of information technology and in the home. In the world of work, technological advances have had various negative effects. The development of robotics has meant that in industries such as carmanufacturing robots are replacing people. They work faster and more accurately and they do not need breaks. As a result, industrial workers see job opportunities dwindling further and unemployment levels rising. Furthermore, rapid advances in information technology mean that fewer people are needed in fulltime employment. More and more people are working from

We were feeling very tired and we were also hungry. c) if the verb is two or more words (can remember/doesn’t smoke/has been stolen etc.), the adverb goes after the first verb (can/doesn’t/has etc.): verb 1 adverb verb 2 I can never remember his name. Ann doesn’t usually smoke. Your car has probably been stolen. NB! In negative sentences probably goes before the negative: I probably won’t see you. OR I will probably not see you. 5 We also use all and both in these positions: We all felt ill after the meal. My parents are both teachers. Sarah and Jane have both applied for the job. Sometimes we use is/will/did etc. instead of repeating part of a sentence. Note the position of always/never/ etc. in these sentences:

Living in the countryside – a pleasant experience or a never-ending hardship?

about your health, because there are pure air and water. Life in a countryside is much cheaper than in the city. You can grow your own vegetables and fruits. It is healthier and cheaper way to eat and live. People in a countryside are very friendly and kind. They are helpful for each others and they alert their neighbour's if there is something weird going on. As well as there is a positive sides living in the countryside, there are also negative sides. The main disadvantage is that the rate of unemployment is high. Many people do not have a job and they have to make living of grewing vegetables and fruits as well keep animals to survive. Also there are problems with communication. There might not be internet or television connection. Also, if you do not have a car, then going to work might be complicated. Music review

X". But as I listened to the songs repeatedly, my sympathy for this particular album grew and soon I knew that it would be my favourite collection of songs for a long time. I like all of the tracks, which is very unusual for me, as I usually like only one song while I am able to despise all the rest of the tracks on the CD. The songs don't give you the feeling when you're listening to love songs or tracks about strong positive feelings. These musical pieces concentrate more on the negative feelings a person can feel and why some have to go through such bad experiences. The tracks are built on pain and anger, emotions that every living person feels but rarely do we sing about them. When I listen to Three Days Grace, especially when I'm angry or consumed by some strong negative emotions, it helps me calm down and just think everything over again. The songs are sung by such emotion, passion and at the same time, with aggression, that it

TV violence, Essee

In such a situation, television violence has a particularly significant and dangerous impact on the viewers, especially youth, whose identity, moral values and beliefs are in the process of formation. Young people often perceive celebrities they see on TV and imaginary characters they see in movies as models for their own behavior. Children usually want to be soldiers or gangsters. As a result, they attempt to follow their lead, which often leads to the development of negative models of behavior. Also, some people think that fighting scenes, explosions, shooting scenes and other violent elements of movies are so awesome and they also want to spice up their lives and do something “cool”. The impact of TV violence may be immediately evident in a child’s behavior or may surface years later, and young people can even be affected when the family atmosphere shows no tendency toward violence. However, this does not mean that

Stilistika loeng

Connotation is ever present when the word is used. Adherent connotation is the shade of meaning the word requires in a particular context only. Outside this context this shade of meaning is not present. Connotation is not uniform (even). On the one hand there are words that convey emotional or expressive overtones (e.g. OK fine - gorgeous "gorgeous" conveys emotional overtones). On the other hand they may contain evaluation (the speaker's or writer's negative or positive attitude) (e.g. famous (positive) notorious (negative). Arnold: "For example the words: "girl", "maiden", "lass", "lassie", "chick", "baby", and "young lady" have identical denotation and may be referred to one and the same person, but the use of this or that word depends not so much on the qualities of the girl herself as on the speaker's attitude to the girl and on the social situation. Animal rights movements and their views on hunting

clothing trade, animal testing and entertainment industry. When going to PETA webpage first thing to see was pop up window about stopping seal hunt in Canada. They are especially concerned about killing animals because they are considered pests. Such animals would be beavers, bats, geese, deer, pigeons, mice, raccoons, snakes, chipmunks, squirrels, bears, coyotes, ducks, foxes, mountain lions, prairie dogs, rabbits, and even wolves. So their view on hunting is negative. [9] Animal Aid is animal rights organization in United Kingdom, founded in 1977. They do campaigns against all forms of cruelty against animals. They lobby politicians, make undercover investigations into slaughterhouses, factory farms and horse racing industry. If they find anything it is given to media or used in campaigns. Animal Aid considers all hunting to be more cruel than necessary; they have been and are especially against fox hunting with hounds

How does virtual communication influence our behaviour and relationships

exception was that I had a disease for a few weeks and I had to go to the doctor's in Tartu. As you can assume, I live at countryside, so I mostly socialized with my family, neighbours and of course, online. When I finally went back to the civilized world I had a blast. I was afraid, cautious and most of all retarded at communicating. I have experienced what too much virtual communication can do to us and believe me you don't want to try it. While having some negative sides, virtual communication is generally still a very good thing because thanks to this advanced technology people from countries around the globe can communicate quickly and easily every day. And not only ordinary people use it; virtual communication has also spawned a whole new field of diplomacy and politics. In fact, it is so convenient that most people don't even bug to send classical, physical letters anymore, which in not too bad in my opinion.

English essay

Living in the country has acquired certain reputation, that indicates dirtiness, dullness and uncoiseness with a life in the countryside. True, that a life in the city may seem more entertaining, rapid and fastinating, but it's only an illusion which is brought out due to the commotion in the city. But life in the countryside is more healthy due to the unpolluted air, possibility to evolve agriculture and an elbowroom in which one can dabble sports. One negative side effect accompanies living in the country is absense of infrastructures. Many important institutions locate too far and due to that transportation is an important subject while living in the country. To sum up, living in the city is comfortable but noisy and living in the country is peaceful but time-consuming.

INHERENT CONNOTATION (IC) 1. IC may be secured by the very object, quality or notion that word denotes. Positively charged words are: noble, manly, virtue, beauty, love, etc. Negatively charged words: nasty, vulgar, greedy, sin, death, fool, etc.). This connotation is called referential; it depends on the referent (mean the thing the word stands for). 2. IC may depend on the structure of the word. Such words normally have a transparent structure and more often negative affixes are used (e.g. unkind, impolite, injustice, heartless, etc.). This kind of connotation is purely linguistic. 3. Emotional connotation characterizes words in synonymic sets that occupy the so-called final position (e.g. big tremendous "tremendous" has emotional colouring; interesting amazing; good marvelous, etc.). The expressive use of language depends on the ability to choose the proper word among those that denote the same thing. 4
