But strange things start to happen with her-she feels like Ruuben has some special abilities. Ruuben does everything that Kirsipiia wants-her grades are better, she is slimmer, flowers grow out of her desk. Finally Kirsipiia finds out from Eliis that Ruuben is a demon of darkness and that she might be in real danger. Ruuben says that they could be together forever if Kirsipiia agrees to sacrifice herself and let Ruuben to do a ritual-kill her in the beginning and at the last moment save her; Kirsipiia agrees. In the last minute Eliis, who is actually an angel of light, comes with her team and saves Kirsipiia. Kirsipiia's heart is broken but actually she misses Ruuben really much. At the end of the book Ruuben comes back and apologizes, but he says that he needs to go away otherwise Eliis and her team will destroy him. Shatelie world

Shatelie world "Once upon a time there lived a beautiful young girl whom was called Shatelie..." A nice beginning, isn't it? But the truth isn't so fabulous and spotless as the reality our little heroine had to face. Yes, there is proof that she lived, but beauty? I'm afraid it's just for illustration, because as a matter of fact her father was an ordinary farmer, and logically she had as much beauty as a goat was a cow. It means she was considered quite ugly. One day, after the tiring work in the garden, she felt very dizzy all of sudden and soon fainted under the heating sunlight.

Motivation letter

I am a 3rd year student in Tallinn School of Service with speciality of cooking. I have practiced cooking skills at school laboratories, school canteen, restaurant Basiilik and restaurant Loft Lounge in Tallinn, as well as in the caffeteria of Tallinn University of Technology, Caffee Daily and A'la Carte restaurant in the Manor of Padise. Getting a traineeship in those places gave me lots of valuable skills and most of all a huge experience in my field. Since the beginning of my studies the favourite location of training has been always restaurant Basiilik, which also in fact an Italian restaurant in the city center of Tallinn, capital of Estonia. Thanks to this experience I fell in love with Italian food and culture. I learned how to cook different pasta dishes, pizzas and for example, how to make ravioli. To polish my cooking skills, I feel, that I like to have practice in real Italian environment and among its food culture.

Technical translation

 Reasons for using: absence of the object in the TL, need to avoid repetition, building a contrast with another term.  You are talking to someone who is not professional, you would use technical  Descriptive terms are usually longer and much more transparent than technical terms.  Good practise: translate a technical term by a technical term and a descriptive by a descriptive term. Beginning a Technical Translation:  The basic technology is engineering  The main branch of engineering is mechanics  Do not specialise to early  Practise a range of technologies  The translation is interested in the description and function of the concept, not so much in the underlying theories  Choose language that most appropriately conveys what is taking place in reality. The wall was made higher and thicker. It was 11-16 metres high. The tower of Tall Hermann was built. In the second half of the 15th century the development of firearms brought about the need for stronger towers. The most powerful cannon tower Kiek in de Kök was built in 1475 and Fat Margaret at the beginning of the next century. At the beginning of the 16th century the wall was 2.35 km long and had 27 towers. The main part of the wall has survived till today. At present 1.8 km of the town wall and 26 towers have been preserved. The names of some of the towers are rather well-known - Tall Hermann, Kiek-in-de-Kök, Virgin Tower, Stable Tower, Sauna Tower. The towers are also connected with lots of ghost stories. Stable Tower was considered to be the most haunted one. Lower Town

Book report

The author is really good at descriptions there are just wonderful descriptions in the book. Always when Joe meets someone new or an old friend then the author describes him/her like he/she was the most important one and I like that every little detail counts. I love how the author has made out Barbara´s character it is seen clearly how lovely and cute she is. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes to read a good novel without guessing at the beginning how the book is going to end. "Life At The Top" suits perfectly for cold winter evenings when it is dark and chilly. This novel is also a basis for the successful film "Life At The Top". I would like to see this movie and read other novels by excellent English author John Braine.

Peter was fifteen when his father died and he had to get a job to make a living. When he was seventeen, Peter started to work for a company called Universal Transport Limited. This company had a lot of lorries. At the beginning he couldn't drive a lorry because he was too young but when he was old enough he started to drive with lorry. Essay on Iron Man

Iron Man essay A superhero is a character with extraordinary powers who is dedicated to protecting the public. However, this definition can be matched with different sets of character traits. This essay discusses what makes Iron Man special and memorable. Besides literally being strong, which a superhero obviously needs to be, Iron Man aka Tony Stark was also highly intelligent. That's what actually helped him in most situations rather than mindlessly beating the opponent. Tony Stark had graduated with advanced degrees in physics and engineering at the age of 17 from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. When imprisoned and forced to create a weapon of mass destuction in the movie Iron Man, Stark was able to build an armor suit and a reactor to escape. His extensive knowledge about quantum mechanics and artificial intelligence helped him to produce a new e...

● Due to the troubled political situation in France, work on the statue did not commence until the early 1870s. ● The statue was constructed in France, shipped overseas in crates, and assembled on the completed pedestal on what was then called Bedloe's Island. ● They made an fundraiser to get the money to build The Statue of Liberty ● It was an gift from the French ● In France they have the original, but smaller. ● At the beginning it was used as an lighthouse, due to the similiarities to an ancient bronze statue of the Greek god of the sun, Helios. This statue is believed to have been over 100 feet (30 m) high, and it similarly stood at a harbor entrance and carried a light to guide ships. ● In 1875, Laboulaye proposed that the French finance the statue and the Americans provide the site and build the pedestal. The games were so important that truce was called out between the fighting city-states. Olympic winners were greatly honoured. The games consist of the Summer Games and the Winter Games (the last being established in 1924) used to take place the same year as the Summer Games, but beginning in 1992 the games were divided and scheduled on four-year-cycles two years apart. Ireland is sometimes seen as a model for Estonian economic future. However, the GDP of Estonia decreased by 1.4% in the 2nd quarter of 2008, over 3% in the 3rd quarter of 2008, and over 9% in the 4rd quarter of 2008. History The Estonians, an ancient people, originally came from a region just west of the Ural Mountains. Historical references to Estonia begin in the 1100's. At that time the region was divided into small pagan states. Beginning in 1202, an order of German crusading knights from Livonia (Latvia) joined with the Danes to conquer and 2 Christianize the Estonians. By 1227 the Danes controlled northern Estonia; the Livonian Knights, southern Estonia. The Teutonic Knights, another German crusading order, gained control of southern Estonia in 1237 and later conquered all of Estonia. The Teutonic Knights withdrew from Estonia in 1560

Pride and Prejudice Book Report

family. They are not from the upper class, and their house in Hartfordshire will be inherited by a distant cousin if Mr. Bennet dies. When the wealthy bachelor Mr. Bingley and his best friend Mr. Darcy arrive in town to spend the summer in a mansion nearby their property, the shy and beautiful Jane falls in love with Mr. Bingley. Lizzie finds Mr. Darcy an arrogant and proud man, and she swears to loathe him forever. This is the beginning of their wonderful love story. My opinion: I found the book quite interesting, not as good as I had expected or hoped, but still something different from the usual books I read. It is a classical love story, how a man and a woman at first loath each other and later on fall in love. But it can be said that it is a quite women- dominating story, as it shows women having power, although little, but still- and how it was uncommon those days to praise women in literature

that it was perfect title to the story. All the messages of the stories were hidden. It might be difficult to understand the point of the story. To understand it, it is important to read the story carefully and notice everything and every word the characters say. It seems like the stories are unfinished you are reading and then you notice that the text is at an end but you can't understand what was the meaning of this story. All the stories took place in Europe at the beginning of the 20 th century and they are connected with the World War I and the World War II. Even if it is not said, you can guess it. The stories may be same effective in any other place and time. These people had problems and difficulties in their lives in these stories and people have problems nowadays too. So it does not matter if the story takes place today or many years ago- it can be same effective. Even it does not

Stephen William Hawking

since 1979, has held the post of Lucasian Professor of Mathematics. The chair was founded in 1663 with money left in the will of the Reverend Henry Lucas who had been the Member of Parliament for the University. It was first held by Isaac Barrow and then in 1669 by Isaac Newton. Stephen Hawking has worked on the basic laws which govern the universe. With Roger Penrose he showed that Einstein's General Theory of Relativity implied space and time would have a beginning in the Big Bang and an end in black holes. These results indicated that it was necessary to unify General Relativity with Quantum Theory, the other great Scientific development of the first half of the 20th Century. One consequence of such a unification that he discovered was that black holes should not be completely black, but rather should emit radiation and eventually evaporate and disappear. Another conjecture is that the universe has no edge or boundary in imaginary time

A few weeks ago I started to continue my studies in Tallinn University of Technology and languages are one of the main part of the learning process in TUT. I had to choose besides english one more mandatory language. I chose German. Since the beginning there has been about three or four german lessons and i have realized that german is quite similiar with english and in my opininion that makes learning much more easier. I also like the lecturer Mr. Berestovski. I have never met a teacher like him, he is a very smart man, in every lesson he speaks about some interesting and useful facts and a lot of jokes that have almost nothing to do with german language but just that is the thing that makes his lessons so enthralling. The Picture of Dorian Gray

Movie was well done. None too big cuts. All good quotations were present but it felt to me that in some places they were a bit too forced (crammed together). Alltogether I liked the movie and it gave away the meaning of the book pretty well. The storyteller explaines in the beginning that Harry likes to play with people. Not good. The novel has no reference to Dorian being painted with an Egyptian goddess shaped like a cat who could grant his wish, as the film has. Appears throughout the whole movie. Girls signs the painting- Glaidis, Basils niece. Dorian stole her heart. Also important in later recognising the corpse. In Wilde's original, Sybil Vane is a Shakespearean actress whom Dorian observes playing Juliet, rather than the gifted dance-hall singer seen in this film

Arvustus "The Queen"

"The people´s princess" 31 August 1997. I guess that almost everyone knows how dramatic that date was. England lost the princess who should become the Queen- but all went wrong. The film took place in United Kingdom and it talked about the Royal Family. At the beginning of the film Tony Blair was appointed as the United Kingdom´s prime minister. Blair visited Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen Elizabeth. Three months later princess Diana, the Queen Elizabeth´s daughter, had a car accident in Paris- she died. Blair gave the speech in which Diana was described as "the people´s princess". All the people in England were in shock and in tears. The country was in deep grief. Since Diana was divorced from her husband Charles, she was no longer a part of the Royal Family. At first, Elizabeth insisted that the funeral must be private. Eventually she changed her mind and she agreed to bring Diana´s bod...

Solomon Islands

Solomon Islands Geography The Solomon Islands lie northeast of Australia in the South Pacific Ocean. They are part of a long chain of archipelagos called Melanesia, which stretches from Papua New Guinea in the north to New Caledonia and Fiji in the south. Second largest in the Melanesian chain, the Solomon Islands archipelago covers approximately 310,000 square miles (803,000 square kilometers) of ocean and consists of 10,639 square miles (27,556 square kilometers) of land. There are a total of 992 islands in the Solomon Islands History When Spanish explorer Álvaro de Mendaña de Neira visited the Solomon Islands in 1568, he found some gold at the mouth, he erroneously thought that this could be one of the locations in which King Solomon (the Israelite monarch) obtained gold for his temple in Jerusalem. THE IMPACT OF THE MEDIA ON BAD BODY IMAGE IN CHILDREN

dissatisfaction in children and adolescents, we cannot disregard the fact that media can also be used as an important tool for health promotion and prevention strategies. In the end I hope my research allows people to better understand the subject of body image issues. I hope to make a connection between gender and negative body image in order to emphasize the idea that both genders deal with this problem. I hope to make the point that children are beginning to battle negative thoughts regarding their bodies as well. I want to educate others on the subject and alert them in order to one day make a difference in our society.

Fashion

requires sacrifice", people tend not to pay attention to health, for the sake of fashion . Nowadays, young people are trying all sorts of ways to follow fashion without thinking about its consequences. After all, there is no limit to fashion, this opens a huge scope for imagination of their fragile minds. In fact, fashion is not what it seems. Youth imitates their idols, copy the actions of others . The beauty of the person has been spoken about for many centuries . But with the beginning of a new century, the concept of beauty has changed in the other direction. Celebrities and their visual fashion statements affect the fashion industry and also the clothes of teenagers. “Researchers say that many teenagers are emulating celebrity idols like Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff, and Chris Martin (the singer of Coldplay), some scarcely out of their teens themselves, to cultivate an impression of maturity”

Short overview of London

London London is one of the world's great cities. Located in the southeast of England, on the River Thames, it is the capital of the United Kingdom and has been the heart of its political, cultural and business life for centuries. London has always been the centre of the world. The origin of the city may be dated around the beginning of the 1st century when a Celtic tribe settled near the Thames. The Romans founded London about 50 AD. Its name is derived from the Celtic word Londinios, which means `the place of the bold one'. The Romans brought with them forts, roads and the rule of law. Then in 61 AD Queen Boudicca led a rebellion against the Romans. Her army marched on London. No attempt was made to defend London. Boudicca burned London but after her rebellion was crushed it was rebuilt. By the end of the 2nd century, a 6metre stone wall was ...

Tallinn Town Hall Square

version of a medieval carnival. Traditions from the Middle Ages are kept alive here, including parades, a knights' tournament, a parrotshooting contest and the election of the May Count. Tallinn`s late Gothic Town Hall building is one of the most famed symbols of the city, recognized throughout Estonia as a venerable, unique architectural treasure. The Town Hall was established on the central square, probably at the beginning of 13th century. In 14021404, the building was substantially reconstructed. The exterior we know today dates from this period, and the basic room plan has also been preserved, as it was reconstructed for hosting receptions. The second floor was and still is the main floor, where the Citizen`s Hall, the Council Hall, a small kitchen and chancery are located and where festive receptions and concerts are held, just as they were in the Medieval days of yore

When a world loses a language it loses a unique treasure

'' And it's hard to translate these things, because some of the message will be lost because of the word-play and diffrent cultures understand words diffrently. Our knowledge of herbs and medication lies in our memories. There aren't very many books, which talk about our ancestors' ways of healing. How would we know that our ancestors used aconitum ( known as aconite, monkshood, wolfsbane, leopard's bane, women's bane) in case of a tumour and at the beginning of a cold, Lichen Islandicus for fever, cold, tuberculosis, calendular salve on wounds, trefoils' tea for cough and put a hop inside a pillow in case of a sleep deprivation, if our ancestors hadn't taught that to us. When my stomach hurt, my mother used to read those lines to me: '' Kiirmus-kaarmus Varesele valu Harakale haigus

Estonia's nature

Peipsi (the fifth largest in Europe) at 3555 sq km and Võrtsjärv with its 270 sq km area. About 1440 vascular plant species grow in Estonia, while ¾ of the total number of species are found in the coastal lowlands and islands. There are 82 species of fish living in Estonia, which are hard to divide into freshwater and sea species. 357 bird species have been recorded in Estonia, 221 of them breed in Estonia. The bird life in Estonia is at its peak from the end of April to the beginning of July. By August the first breeding birds start the journey back to the South. The autumn migration lasts, for much longer. During the milder winters, some species can leave Estonia as late as December, or not leave at all, which is the case with a growing number of once migratory species. Forest species contribute about a half of Estonian birds; in some types of forests, which have the most birds, there can be from 550 to 1700 breeding birds per sq km. Chaffinches and willow

Book report/review "The Snow Child"

One day they made a snow girl, they put a scarf around her neck and a pair of red mittens, which Mabel's sister had knitted. The next day the snow girl, which they had built in front of their house, was not there anymore. At first, Jack thought that some wild animals had destorey the snow sculpture, but later on, when Jack was in the forests hunting, he saw something that looked exactly like the snow girl. I turned out that the snow girl had turned into a real girl. In the beginning, the girl was very shy and hid herself in the deep forest, but later on she became braver and even talked to the couple. In the end of the book she gives Mable and Jack their first grandchild. I believe that this happened so that the couple would feel a little bit happy and blessed, even though the girl Fauna never really was their biological child. The main characters, Jack and Mable, are very humble and loving. I felt like Mable was a bit more emotional and complicated than Jack

Austraalia ajalugu

King the first colonists settled in Tasmania in 1803, Tasmania was then called Van Diemens Land. In 1813 a path was discovered through the Blue Mountains, that enabled them to spread inland. By 1825 the White population of Australia was about 25,000 with Tasmania having 4,500. The transportation location was again changed to Western Australia and it continued till 1868. The system of granting land ended in 1831. From then on land was sold. The rebellions in Australia started in the beginning of the 19th century in March 1804. Some Irish convicts led by Philip Cunningham took part in a rebellion at Castle Hill. The rebellion quickly collapsed upon a battle with government soldiers and the leaders were hanged. A second rebellion occurred in 1808. William Bligh was made governor in 1806 and at that time rum was used as currency, which he forbade. A group of soldiers led by Major George Johnston arrested him

Human overpopulation

populations, which will have major repercussions for public health, security measures and economic growth. Increased Global Warming and Climate Change • According to the Center for Biological Diversity, "The largest single threat to the ecology and biodiversity of the planet in the decades to come will be global climate disruption due to the buildup of human-generated greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. • People around the world are beginning to address the problem by reducing their carbon footprint through less consumption and better technology. • But unsustainable human population growth can overwhelm those efforts, leading us to conclude that we not only need smaller footprints, but fewer feet. Elevated Crime Rate • As human overpopulation drives resources and basic necessities, such as food and water, to become scarcer, there will be increased competitiveness for these

Jane Eyre

refuses. Despite the harsh conditions she faces, her character is compelling because she remains strong and the film follows the book in emphasizing this point. Jane's rescue of Edward Rochester from fire is another action taken directly from the book that shows her courage. Opinion Film starts near the end of the story when Jane Eyre drifting in the rain, impoverished and homeless until she is rescued by St. John Rivers and his sisters. From this point, the film returns to the beginning of the story. Unlike the film, the book begins with Jane's childhood and moves forward chronologically. The flashback technique adds drama and mystery to the effect of the film. Consider how the film maintains pace and viewer interest. The story does not, for instance, go into great detail about Edward Rochester begging Jane Eyre to stay with him. Due to the flashback technique, the audience knows the marriage is not going to work,
