4 November 2011 Dear Sir or Madam I am writing in reply to your advertisement in a magazine. I would be interested in publishing my work. I would be grateful if you could answer some questions, as the advertisement was rather brief. First of all, I would like to know if you have set an age limit or a deadline. I also wonder whether the poetry is acceptable and where the work will be published. Finally, could you inform me if I may send in my manuscript by e-mail. I look forward to receiving your reply. Yours faithfully, Tiiu Tamm
executives, can try to use their powers over journalists to influence how news is reported and published. Journalists usually rely on top management to create and maintain a "firewall" between the news and other departments in a news organization to prevent undue influence on the news department. Application Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing in reply to your advertisement I saw in a magazine and I would like to take part in your program but I would need some extra information. The first question that emerged when I read the title of the advertisement was is there any age limit that I need to fit in? It would be really nice of you, if you could tell me, where I need to publish my work and if it is acceptable if I send you my poetry. I would be really pleased, if you could answer my most important question. Do you have any official e-mail addresses, where I could send my manuscript and is there any dedline? I look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely, Tiit Tamm
Dear Sir / Madam, I am applying for the job of an assistant in The Evening Star, advertised in the Daily Post on 22 May. I have always been interested in journalism, and during the school holidays I used to work part-time for a local newspaper. Please find details of my qualifications and work experience in the enclosed curriculum vitae. Last year I was a student at Märjamaa Gymnasium. There I used to publish the school newspaper. Since I left school I have been working as the assistant of the sports magazine site in the Internet. I am familiar with using computer programs. I also have experience of translating books in English. I've done it beside my present job to earn some extra money. That shows I have good English skills and I am able to work under pressure. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, Johanna Elmik

It all depends on photographer. My favorites are nature photographs. When the weather is sunny and nice, then I'm often outside spending time with my camera. After I started photographing, I see situations and moments and I immediately imagine them on photos. I really love photographing sky, sunset, bugs, flowers and animals. In my opinion, photographers task is to get message from nature and show it to the people. I publish my photos on the internet. It's not because I want to be famous. It's just really good to have a feedback. Criticism is always good thing. Smart photographer learns from mistakes. Of course photographer don't have to change just because to please others. You have to stay yourself and follow your style from the beginning to the end. Photographing is a good hobby. Taking photographs is really peasant activity. I
It goes without saying that mass media have become a necessary part of any modern society. The press, the radio and television play a very important role in peoples life. They inform, educate & entertain us. They also influence the way people look at the world & even make them change their views. In other words, mass media play a very important part in shaping public opinion. Millions of people read popular issues of newspapers & magazines in their spare time. Newspapers publish articles which cover the latest international & national events, give a full coverage of commercial, financial and public affairs. Many people buy newspapers also for the radio & TV programmes which are printed there. A lot of magazines give an opportunity for youth to be in known in the fashion world, cultural life, sensational news & nightlife events; there we can find reports on education & sports. Television is one of the greatest achievements of the 20th century

Although photography is an old hobby, modern technology has changed the whole idea of it. In addition because of modern breakthrough blogging as a hobbie is also possible. It is actually writing but you can write anything you want and publish it to many blogging sites. A good writing skill may lead to fame for a blogger and become a major earning source. As shown above, technology has changed leisure and hobbies. If there would not be such technological discoveries there would not be that kind of hobbies and people would be more relaxed in their free time. Improvement in technology overall has been positivie, because it gives much more to the people than takes awat. In short, technology has a lot of effects on free-time activities
the flag. In June 1886 he made his first public proposal for the annual observance of the birth of the flag when he wrote an article titled "The Fourteenth of June" in the old Chicago Argus newspaper. In June of 1888, at the same time he was graduating first in his class from dental college, Cigrand addressed a Chicago organization known as the "Sons of America". In his speech he emphasized the good that would come from a flag holiday. In response, the organization undertook to publish a magazine called the "American Standard" to inculcate reverence for American emblems, and appointed Cigrand its editor-in-chief. Cigrand's articles in this magazine helped direct public attention to the Flag and the date of its birth. In the years that followed, Cigrand authored hundreds of other magazine and newspaper articles advocating recognition of the June 14th adoption of the Stars and Stripes.

Human's mind can forget, but if the book is in the bookshelf and your name is on the cover, then it will not disappear anywhere. You may "live" thousands of years. The thing what changes everything, is the content of the book. There may be a lot of rubbish between the covers, but also intriguing stories. The book is a good way of expressing your thoughts and feelings. And the positive side is, that you do not have to speak. You put your thoughts on the paper and just publish it. But publishing may sometimes make a lot of trouble. Books have caused big conflicts. From the past, we know a lot of cases, in which the books have been burnt and the writers been killed. That shows clearly, that books are not absolutely dead things. But I think that, no one should be killed or punished because of expressing their thoughts. If people criticise and say negative arguments about something, then it is clear, that something is wrong and must be changed

BOOK REPORT Title of the book: Fight Club Author (name and some general information): Chuck Palahniuk is an American novelist born February 21, 1962 in Washington, USA. He is best known as the author for the novel Fight Club (1996), which was made into a movie in 1999. Palahniuk began writing fiction in his mid-thirties. When he attempted to publish his novel, Invisible Monsters, publishers rejected it for its disturbing content. This led him to work on Fight Club which he wrote as an attempt to disturb the publisher even more for rejecting him. After initially publishing it as a short story in the 1995 compilation, Pursuit of Happiness, Palahniuk expanded it into a full novel, which --contrary to his expectations--the publisher was willing to publish. Some other well-known novels: Rant, Choke, Diary. Analysis of the book 1

JFK has moved a lot in his short lifetime. In 1935 he was hospitalized for two months of observation for possible leukemia. In 1940, Kennedy completed his thesis, ,,Appeasement in Munich", about British participation in the Munich Agreement. He initially intended his thesis to be private, but his father encouraged him to publish it. He graduated cum laude from Harvard with degree in international affairs in 1940, and his thesis was published that year as a book entitled Why England Slept, and became a bestseller. JFK was married with Jaqueline Bovier. Actually they had two sons, but one died on his first year and two daugthers, but Jaqueline had a miscarrige. Only two child survived- Caroline Bouvier Kennedy and John F. Kennedy jr. JFK was the first president whos life was informed by the primary source- TELEVISION
fonts can be enlarged, it I seven possible to use Text-to speech software to read the text. One great thing is the possibility to search for key terms. While an e-book reader costs much more than one book, the electronic texts are generally cheaper. Moreover, a great share of books are available free of charge. For example, all fiction from before the year 1900 is in the public domain. Compared to printed publishing, it is cheaper and easier for authors to self-publish e-books. An e-book can be purchased, downloaded, and used immediately, whereas when one buys a book one has to go to a bookshop, or wait for a delivery. Environmental Concerns. Year by year humankind has to think more and more about saving the environment. The production of e-books does not consume paper, ink, etc. Printed books use 3 times more raw materials and 78 times more water to be produced. Yet, there certainly are some drawbacks.

meetings are totally innocent. The next suspect is John's brother Lawrence. He is a doctor who gave up his practice to live at home and pursue a writing career. Unfortunately, he doesn't appear to be much of a success at it. "He's gone through every penny he ever had, publishing rotten verses in fancy bindings," says John. Could there be anyone better than a doctor to know about the effects of strychnine and how to get it? And if he could control his own finances, Lawrence could publish a lot more of those "rotten verses," couldn't he? Casson introduced Stephen to Margaret Hewson, a literary agent who helped Stephen field incoming book deals and soon became a trusted mentor. She helped Stephen publish his first book,Drawings(1987), a volume of his early sketches that featured a preface by Casson. Merde Actually By Stephen Clarke "Merde Actually" is written by Stephen Clarke, who is a British journalist and a novelist living in Paris. When he first arrived in Paris, he experienced a cultural shock and got inspired by it. He started to keep a diary of his experiences and decided to publish it as a novel when the Anglo-French relationships were at their worst during the Iraq War spring 2003. Therefore his novels (he has written three in this series) have become enormously popular all around the world, especially because they are partly true. Stephen Clarke himself still lives in Paris with his French girlfriend. This novel is considered to be seriously funny and a comedy with a message. "Merde Actually" has one main character whose name is Paul

These plays have given world theatre unforgettable characters such as Hamlet, King Lear, Othello and Macbeth. The comedies that were written in this period no longer have the bright, optimistic appeal of earlier works. SHAKESPEARE WAS A THEATRICAL GENIUS. He left out the double ''l'' in travelled and cancelled. He changed the centre to center. Not all Webster's spellings became popular: he tried to change soup into soop, toungue into tung, women to wimmen, etc. The strenght of Webster's dictionary, wich

The Copernican system offended the medieval sense that the universe was an affair between God and man. Copernicus knew it too. The ultimate authority, of course, was the Holy Writ. That his contemporaries would be alarmed by the heliocentric theory bothered Copernicus. So, he decided to publish his findings in 1543, the year of his death. Aware that he could not persuade the traditional thinking of the time, Copernicus made a specific appeal to mathematicians. It was, he thought, only the mathematician who could understand and appreciate the order and essential simplicity of his system. Copernicus never expected that his findings would appeal to the nonspecialist. But in 1572 something happened
A few days later is the pumpkin contest and, as you might guess, Lord Emsworth's pumpkin wins. 2) Lord Emsworth act for the best: The second story revolves mostly around Freddie's and Aggie's marriage trouble. Freddie arrives at Blandings Castle and is quite devastated. He tells Lord Emsworth the story how he and Aggie got into a fight. It was about a meeting he had had with a female publisher to publish a script he had written. They were having dinner and one of Aggie's friends saw them and later presented it to Aggie as if they were flirting. Aggie got angry and threatened with a divorce. So Freddie asks Lord Emsworth to explain the whole thing to Aggie, because she does not want to meet Freddie. Lord Emsworth refuses to do that. So, Freddie decides that the only way it would be possible for Aggie to know the real version is if he goes to Aggie
