About the Author
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley (30 August 1797 – 1 February 1851) was an English romantic/ gothic novelist. She was born in Somers Town, London. Mary received an excellent education, which was unusual for girls at the time. She never went to school, but she was taught to read and write by her housekeeper and her father . She was married to a romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. She began writing “Frankenstein” when she was only eighteen and it had conceived from a nightmare . Mary died, aged 54, at Chester Square in London, England. She was buried in St. Peter’s churchyard in Bournemouth, Dorset, England.
The Book
The story begins in a vessel in the North Pole where captain Robert Walton was on a voyage of discovery. Suddenly he saw a man and he was Victor Frankenstein. Victor was very ill and he started to tell Robert about his miserable life.
Victor lived with his family in Switzerland. When Victor was a child , he wanted to learn the hidden laws of nature , the secrets of heaven and earth. When he became older, he went to study in Ingolstadt where he began creating a monster . At first he was excited but when the creature started breathing, he realised that it was a big mistake. The monster ran away and started to explore life.
In time he learned how to use fire and how to talk . He wanted to communicate with people but they threw rocks at him and wanted to kill him. He was lonely and soon he became angry at everyone. At first he killed Victor’s brother . After hearing that Victor went back to Switzerland. He was certain that the killer was the monster. He was devastated and went to the mountains to calm down. There he met the creature. He told Victor what he had done in the meanwhile . He confessed killing Victor’s brother. The monster also demanded that Victor created a female monster so that he could be with her. At first Victor agreed and he started to make her but later he realised it was wrong and he stopped. The monster threatened that somerhing bad would happen on Victor’s wedding day.
Victor was going to marry Elizabeth but on their wedding night the creature killed her. Victor swore vengeance and he started to follow the creature. The creature escaped to the North Pole and that’s how Victor got to the vessel. Victor got very ill and eventually he died.
I quite liked the novel , although it was very hard to read because it had very many unknown words. Some words weren’t even in a dictionary. The creature was sometimes called a fiend and a wretch. It’s a tragic and a sad book about a creature who had no purpose in life. I would recommend it to everybody who enjoys science fiction and tragic books.

Heartless

Heartless It was one late evening when a little blond girl, aged between 7-8, ran quietly across the Ninth Avenue and entered one of the old houses that were lining the road. Inside she went smoothly though the corridors and soon reached a wooden door. After knocking twice a voice from inside called "Enter!" and the child went in. The room was filled with the smoke of numberless cigarettes. The girl, however, made no emotion and came closer to the old and ugly man sitting behind the table. "I wasn't lucky today, Grandpa," whispered the child and her light blue eyes filled with tears as she talked. The man smoked soundlessly, not even glancing at the girl. "But I'll go again, tomorrow, and bring you twice the money! I promise! So don't punish me, okay?" The man stood up and walked slowly towards the girl. "I promised your mother to take care of you, yet, if you are useless in even collecting money from the rich, I can't help you! This is the end, Hear

Chapter1: An unknown woman was found lying in the street and brought into the workhouse. She delivered a sickly child who had trouble breathing. The woman, without a word of who she was, died and left her new born boy, Oliver, to the drunken nurse that stood by. Chapter2: The State gave Oliver to Mrs. Mann who housed a number of orphaned children. Mrs. Mann took a large portion of the money given to her by the authorities for each child's food so Oliver grew up small and malnourished. On his ninth birthday, the town beadle, Mr. Bumble, came to collect Oliver and take him to the board for an interview. They told him he was to live with other wards of the state to become educated and learn a trade. Oliver did not mind this, but soon after he arrived, the state decided to implement a plan that would save money by feeding the people very little. After a time on this diet, the boys at the table chose Oliver to go ask the head cook for more gruel. Oliver did this, and was taken away. A flye

They had been living in London their whole life and thus were excited but intimidated to go. Lymstock was much like any other English village, no more than 300 people. Those that live there enjoy the peace of rural life and form a union to where it can be difficult for strangers to blend in. Fortunately, it wasn't much of a problem for Jerry and Joanna. They were just getting to know the town's strange members and their characters when an anonymous letter arrived, accusing the tw
