Teadusfilosoofia

Julie Des Jardins ,,The Madame Curie Complex. The Hidden History of Women in Science" Pean 20. sajandi alguse naisteadlaste raskusteks enesetõestamisel teaduses alljärgnevaid punkte: 1. 3. Puudusid vahendid oma teadust...

A true friend is worth more than gold

closed book to you. Moreover, true friends may trust each other so they never have secrets. Also, he can bare his inner feelings to you, and will support you through thick and thin because a true friend always knows all about you and can give you some advices which could help you to solve certain problems. Finally, you can rely on a friend to tell you the truth, even if it's not always pleasant so there is no envy and hidden agendas between friends. Furthermore, a true friend never betrays you. I would like to conclude saying that true friends are hard to find, and are worth holding on to. They are really worth more than gold.

Film review

The main character is a young American man who travels to Thailand in search of the perfect vacation. During a stay in Bangkok, he meets a mysterious man who tells him about a secret beach. Richard then heads for southern Thailand in search of the island. Along the way, he meets a young French couple, Françoise and Étienne and he shares the secret of the island with them. The three then start to find the island and finally they get there. Heading further inland, they find a hidden beach where a small clan of travellers has settled. After their arrival many scary things start to happen. The film was very interesting and it is definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen. I have seen it for about 4 times and I still watch it with great interest. I would recommend it to anyone who likes adventures.

Kiek in de Kök

Compared to the other Tallinn towers Kiek in de Kök was predominant in its fire power, due to its 27 embrasures for cannons and 30 for handguns. The ground floor was a storage floor and there was also the initial entrance. This floor had a narrow light and airshaft and no embrasures. Throughout its working life, the tower was extensively remodelled. Work in the 16th and 17th centuries saw the two lowest floors become hidden by earth works and the upper floors receive new gun openings and the uppermost floor a new outer wall and ceiling.

"The horse whisperer" raamatu kokkuvõte

So Tom has to try another way and that isn't very nice to see. Conflict in this book is between Grace and her horse. Will they ever to be able to trust each other? At first she is sure that she is never going to ride but after trying with other horses Grace thoughts that she is ready to ride Pilgrim. But that is not so easy. The horse still doesn't let Grace near himself. But in the end the horse accepts and she can ride her loved horse again. I actually did not notice a hidden message in the book or maybe I just did not understand it. Maybe the author wanted to say that nothing would go as people expect and that anything can happen. In particular book Grace almost died and also the horse, a married women fell in love with the mysterious horse whisperer and in the end: one of the main characters dies. And Annie who has always thought that her job is the most important thing in the world does not care about it on one moment and quits.

Churches in Tartu

Churches in Tartu There are about 29 churches in Tartu. Some of them look like modern churches, but a large part of them are old ones. Here is Tartu St. John’s or Jaani church. Tartu St. John's Church, which was built in the 14th century in Gothic style, is one of the oldest in Estonia; moreover, it is unique in Europe due to its many original terracotta sculptures. Numbering around a thousand, these 700- year old sculptures were largely hidden till the 1950's. The entrance to the church is free, but if you're looking for more than old sculptures, a view, then it costs. Access to the viewing platform costs 2 euro per adult and 1.50 euro per student. Rivalling St. John's Church as Tartu's most impressive, St. Peter's church, located over the river, is a red- bricked, pseudo-Gothic. It was built in 1884, allowing it to seat up to 3,000 people. The large altar painting was created by Estonia's artist, Johann Köler, in 1897. St

The truth pushes our world forward

Christians not because Christians wanted to increase their religion that happened later after the Crusade wars. 3. The Bible put humans to believe that we all are Childs of Adam and Eve but in fact humans evolved from apes and the truth helped the science to find the real origin of people. 4. Many people say that they have seen UFO-s but most of us do not believe them and the truth of alien existence may hide behind area 51 who have hidden many facts and proofs of UFO-s. 5. The war in Afghanistan is pointless but Americans don't want to see the truth that Russians lost the war against them after 9 years of fighting and it would be hard to win the war if Afghanistan belief is so strong for their god that they won't surrender before every single Afghanistan is dead. Inglisekeelne lühiessee tuumaelektrijaamade vajalikkusest

This is where the necessity of nuclear power plants comes in question. Nuclear power plants are a cheap way to generate electricity but it also brings a lot of pollution that is much more radioactive and toxic than, for example, coal waste. But if we are looking at the facts, burning coal pollutes the Earth much more than nuclear power plants because more waste is generated. CO2, which is released from burning coal, is the main cause of global warming. Nuclear waste is collected and hidden in rocks or under ground, where it won't face the environment. However we shouldn't depend on nuclear energy as Uranium reserves are ending, especially when the world population is increasing and so is the demand for energy. There is Uranium in seawater, but getting it is too expensive. We can only depend on nuclear power for a few years or decades. On the other hand, we will always have wind and solar power. Before I go to sleep by S.J Watson

Book review I am reading a book called ,,Before I go to sleep" by S.J Watson. This book has 384 pages and I have read 50 of them. The book is about Christine, who loses her memory when she goes to sleep and has to start afresh every time she wakes up. It's quite hard seeing it through her own eyes as each day she wakes up and can't figure out where she is. Everything has to be explained to her by a man who tries to persuade her that he's her husband. She begins to keep a journal, writing down what happens to her each day as recommended by her doctor who calls her each day to remind her of her journal and where it's hidden. Each day she reads what's previously written in her journal, and is extremely confused as she can never remember the previous entries. I think that in the end of the book Christine will get her memory back, and she will realize that her husbend Ben is bad guy. I hope that they will devorce and Christine will find some...

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

12.d “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” (Mahatma Gandhi) Mahatma Ghandi expresses that everything starts with us, our willingness to help create the world we dream of. It is unlikely that any of us will be the next Mother Teresa but every person has hidden power to do something that benefits to the society. People´s roles are nowadays as important as the next persons, even if they think that little things are insignificant and have no effect, with enough people these small things add up and make an even bigger change that any single organization or person could ever do. To be the change we want to see in the world, people do not have to be smart, rich or well educated. They need to have a dream and commitment.

Losses of our life

Some are found and alive, but some are not, and it´s a tragedy. I can´t imagine losing a beloved one, it would be awful, but so many of us have to face this terrible situation, where you don´t know if the person is safe and alright. As always, there are situations where the person doesn´t want to be found, or where she/he disappears without a trace. The reasons of disappearing are very variable, from criminal cases, trafficking in human beings, getting recruited as prostitutes to very hidden and deeply personal matters. The average amout of missing people in Estonia is 199 persons per year, although 70% of the missing persons in 2001-2005 were found alive, luckily. In 2007, night before 24th of June, a 19 year old girl Maris Järve was lost in Pärnu, she was last seen at 2.30 am at the beach promenade, and no one has heard anything about her ever since. She was so young, and had her whole life waiting for her, and although

Should space exploration be a priority

Space exploration should be a priority Since the beginning of time people have wondered about what's really hidden behind the clouds and what goes on there. Before people had the technology to study space, they tried to make sense of the universe with the help of religion. Luckily thanks to the great interest in the subject, the first manned spaceflight happened on April 12, 1961 by the Soviet Union, with cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin aboard. Travelling in space could become very important and useful for people on earth in case something happens to our planet. Many things could happen since

Different cultures

around the issue; how close the people stand to each other when they are talking--all of these and many more are rules of politeness which differ from culture to culture. Third factor is "emotional constraints." Different cultures regulate the display of emotion differently. Some cultures get very emotional when they are debating an issue. They yell, they cry, they exhibit their anger, fear, frustration, and other feelings openly. Other cultures try to keep their emotions hidden, exhibiting or sharing only the "rational" or factual aspects of the situation. All of these differences tend to lead to communication problems. If the people involved are not aware of the potential for such problems, they are even more likely to fall victim to them, although it takes more than awareness to overcome these problems and communicate effectively across cultures. In my opinion different cultures are blessing. Different cultures motivate people to

Technology in our daily lives

individuals are being stored in data banks, which may be accessed through networks of computers. This creates an everincreasing risk of accidental or deliberate leaking of private details. Every day more information is collected by banks, credit card companies, consumer organisations and so on and who is there to keep an eye on what happens to it? It is certainly convenient to store information in this way, but I feel it could lead to longterm problems. There may be other hidden dangers theoretically, could a 'thinking' computer start to use the data against us? To sum up, I believe that we must be very careful with technology. While it has clear advantages, there is also the danger that it could turn on us and we could find ourselves the victims of our own success.

Comes a feeling that ugly duckling can actually become beautiful swan if you work hard and give enough effort. Workday fairy tales can be hidden in unimportant details or be something totally common. Their charm comes in timing. In a right time even a butterfly flying by can make a day like a fairy tale.

Eelnevast...

Homereading - body language

If we develop increased sensitivity to our own body language, our ability to read others' body language is increased. This makes it easier to tell whether a person you are talking to is happy, sad, sullen or irritated. Or whether he or she is lying to you, or is impatient, or bored. You should also be able to register whether the person appears to like you, agrees or disagrees with you, is aggressive to you, or is suspicious, angry or worried. Observing hidden feelings Increased attention to body language will allow you to observe hidden feelings, prejudices and sexual intentions; all through your eyes and the other senses we use to perceive the world around us. Body language is the movements of arms and legs, body posture, the manner in which you sit, facial expressions, gait, eye movements and regular gestures such as stroking your hair, touching your nose, etc. Tilting your head signals that you are not dangerous
