The Damned Thing „The Damned Thing“ by Ambrose Bierce speaks about a man who died very mysteriously. The book starts with a meeting where nine old men are present, but unfortunately one of them is dead. A young man named William Harker, who is the witness of the crime, enters the room. Coroner asks him to speaks about what had happened to Hugh Morgan. William starts to tell the jury about what he had seen. He visited Hugh to shoot and fish. After greeting each other they began to hunt for deers and reached a field of wild oats where they hid behind a rock because Hugh saw something moving in the oats. Suddenly William heard a shot and everything was covered in smoke. Hugh had pulled the trigger, but there was nothing in the field. After that William heard two extremely different voices: a scream like that of a wild animal and Morgan crying out as if in mortal agony

new ideas, but they were not sucessful.Baccaria was against unjust punishments and such of that manner. This idea related to the Declaration as the framers wrote of how the king protected his soldiers from punishments of crimes, while the king waged destruction on the people of the thirteen colonies as punishment for their rebellions. The constitution replicates Baccaria's idea in its text about the judicial system. People are granted trials of all crimes by jury. With fair trials, punishments would be just. Mayella also claimed in court that Tom was only needed to save his father from dishonour. Despite the remarkable evidence showing Tom's innocence, the all- white jury convicts him. Tom later tries to escape from prison and is shot to death. Despite the verdict, Bob Ewell feels that Atticus and the judge have made a fool out of him, and he swears revenge. He troubles Tom Robinson's widow, tries to break into the judge's house, and finally attacks Jem and Scout as they walk home from a Halloween party. Another method of providing abuse has been the use of expert witness testimony regarding the Munchausen syndrome by proxy syndrome. Thus, the jury was left to decide, based on circumstantial evidence alone, (albeit in seemingly overwhelming amounts) that Mrs. Bush, despite appearances that she deeply loved her daughter, over a period of most of her 8 years of life, repeatedly, directly, or through physicians attempting to diagnose and treat nonexistent conditions, caused her grave bodily harm (e.g., some 40 operations). <- siin on see värk, et vandemeestele ei tohtinud öelda, et on tegemist MSBP-ga, mistõttu nad ei jaganud matsu.

evidence you were a witch. (Unlike 'spectral evidence', which was highly unusual looking for witch marks was common in the 17th century). As you can see if you were accused to witchcraft you had very little chance of being found not guilty. On 29 June Sarah Good, Elizabeth Howe, Susannah Martin, Sarah Wilds and Rebecca Nurse, were tried. They were hanged on 19 July. The trial of Rebecca Nurse was a travesty. She was an old lady of good character and the jury acquitted her. However the girls who accused her of being a witch had fits or fainted. Incredibly the judge, William Stoughton, 'invited' the jury to `reconsider' their verdict. This time they found her guilty. (Perhaps the jurors were afraid they would be accused of being witches unless they brought the 'right' verdict). 6 However many people were having increasing doubts about the guilt of the accused. 16

The Pärnu International Documentary and Anthropology Film Festival, founded in 1987, is the oldest film festival in Estonia. The initiator of the festival was writer and former president of the Republic of Estonia Lennart Meri. Since its first appearance, the festival has built an efficient bridge between cultural anthropologists and film makers from the East and the West. The festival is held during the first full week of every July. An international jury awards the grand prize for the best film; awards are also given to the best film about the survival of indigenous peoples and the best scientific research. Two separate competitions take place for documentary films made by children and created for them. The seven best films are aired by Estonian TV during the festival. From these seven outstanding documentaries the audience selects the Estonian People's Award winner

subtle form of dilution. It does not affect non-dilute colours (black, chocolate, cinnamon), but it changes the appearance of already dilute colours (blue, lilac, fawn). Caramels which are genetically blue cats have a brownish cast while those which are genetically lilac are lighter in tone. So should they have separate colour names e.g. blue-caramel (caramel), lilac-caramel (taupe) and fawn-caramel or should all the slightly varying colours be lumped under the name "caramel". They jury is still out on this one, but it demonstrates the importance of knowing what colours the cat has in its pedigree! Another new colour, indigo, is described as a richer, darker version of blue. This suggests some sort of intensifying effect acting on diluted colours. However since blues can be variable in hue, there is no confirmation that indigo is due to a specific gene or that it is genetically heritable. The only example I have seen depicted a tortoiseshell cat with blue-

At the mass trials in Chicago and San Francisco, Friedman gave evidence that in effect convicted the conspirators out of their own mouths. The San Francisco proceeding witnessed one of the most dramatic scenes ever to occur in an American courtroom when one defendant rose, fired two shots from a revolver to assassinate a compatriot who was testifying for the government, and was himself killed by a marshal shooting over the heads of the crowd. In an anticlimax, a jury later found most of the defendants guilty. A few months after these Hindu solutions, the British submitted five short messages to Riverbank for tests. They had been enciphered by a cipher device invented by J. St. Vincent Pletts of M.I. l(b), the British War Office cryptanalytic bureau. The machine, to serve in the field, shifted its cipher alphabet irregularly by means of gears. So highly did the British regard it that one argument advanced against its adoption was that if the
