Honesty is always the best policy

Honesty is always the best policy Honesty is one of the first things that parents teach their children, and it is for a good reason. They say that honesty is the most valuable attribute in a person. But is it really the best policy? It isn´t always easy to remain totally honest in difficult situations. We have all lied to our close friends and parents, just for our own good. But the truth is that you always get caught with lying and it only makes things worse. Being dishonest may lead to serious consequenses amd you have to deal with them afterwards. Honesty isn´t only important in your personal life, but also in business

Is Honesty Always the Best Policy?

Is Honesty Always the Best Policy? Is honesty the best policy in any situation? Some people are very reliable and they hate those who tell lies for any reason. Other people accept "white lies" when situation insists it, even if they usually do not like lying. Dispite their acceptance of white lies, lying is not a good policy. I agree that honesty is the the best policy in a relationship. Children are teached early at school and home that lies are bad and they should not do it. Despite this, I believe that without very small lies, we can not cope with life. I am quite sure that there are no such people who never lies. I do not agree with large lies, which can harm someone. I agree that honesty is good, but often it remains unpaid. For example, few weeks ago I found phone on the stairs at school. I decided to bring it to teacher

W. Grant. Neal and O.W. encounter him as he walks into a diner and makes a bet that he can eat a gigantic amount of food in an hour without throwing up or relieving himself. He wins the bet, but reveals that he got this ability as a wish, and that it has drained any enjoyment of food he used to have. •A dying and persistently honest ex-advertiser named Bob Cody (Chris Cooper) with lung cancer...and dynamite. He hires Neal to drive him, and approves when he follows his requests (silence and honesty). He later helps Neal in the town of Morlaw. •A lonely mother looking for her slacker son, who turns out to be living in a city where the population is addicted to a government-controlled drug, Euphoria; Kurt Russell is the local police chief with a penchant for dry humor. •A Museum of Art Fraud run by Mrs. James (Ann-Margret) that actually contains real masterpieces posing as fakes that are undetected by the visiting poseurs.

Ideal Businessman

To Be an Ideal Businessman If we think on a word ideal, we picture someone perfect without any flas. To be an ideal businessman, you need to be flawless. An ideal businessman is never late. He's the first to arrive to meetings. In business time equals money and that is something that isn't useful to waste. Ideas are also very important. An ideal person has to be full of them all the time. Great ideas are used to improve business and to make a lot of money. Trust and honesty are two very important qualities for an ideal businessman. If people don't trust you or don't feel comfortable as your customers, they usually turn to another company and you may lose a very big client. We all know that there are no ideal people in the world, but we still keep trying to become one. All what we really need to do is to give our best and hope that it is enough. Even an ideal businessman makes mistakes, because it is vey hard to be perfect and idealistic all the time

Lying is a natural and inevitable part of any good relationship

Lying is a natural and inevitable part of any good relationship Most relationship experts note honesty as number one requirement to have a happy and successful relationship. Somehow many people seem to disagree. After all, if it was all that simple, why would anyone lie? Don't they want to be happy? Perhaps reality is not that straightforward. Sometimes telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth is the worst thing to be done. From time to time truth can be hurtful. Noone wants to hear that they look exceptionally bad today, especially when they really do

reasons why a crime was committed and what kind of reasons did it have. Second, another area, where we can find inequality, is at work. When looking for a job, first of all, people without criminal past are chosen first. Employers tend to choose their employees regarding to the past, because they are careful about a person they choose to work with. You should be able to trust a person, to rely on him/her and who can value honesty and work ethics. Quite frequently people who committed a crime aren't even given a chance to prove, can they can also be valuable employees. In conclusion, it is hard to be treated as equal, if you have committed a crime. It is a formed standard, which doesn't seem to change much during the years. A person just has to contribute hard at work and with people to earn his/her position in the society. It is not pleasant, but still there is always a chance for everyone. Inna Lõhmus, TABB 051828

Nevertheless, norms and values prove to be, too, imperfect when explaining social order. Despite the general positive norms, antisocial behaviour persists. Deviant groups, such as gangs and mafia, develop their own norms, which serve well only for the members of the gang or even only for the leaders. Secondly, norms are often subject to interpretation and can thus be "bended" in situations by individuals to achieve their goals. For example, even though honesty is a strong norm and lying is seen as discrediting someone's general trustworthiness, individuals still tell white lies, and may often try to get away with minor thefts or bearings of false witness. And there is no punishment if they get away with it. Thirdly, as norms and values may bring out the best in people at times of crisis, they can also disappear, leading to quicker destruction of social order. An example of this would be

Other two soon replaced the biblical inspiration with the medieval world- the plays of Shakespeare. Their paintings were very realistic which drew a lot of negative attention on them from various critics, for example Charles Dickens. The critics didn't appreciate the honesty that showed Christ`s father as a working man with dirty fingernails and the Virgin as an ordinary young girl. They were accused to be setting themselves better than anyone else (for example Raphael, Michelangelo, da Vinci- traditional trinity of great masters of that period). They had their supporters among middle classes of the Midlands and North of England. Even thou the brotherhood lasted only about five years its impact to art lasted up to the 20 th century. At

Many European countries had the same kinds of Parliaments at this time, but in most cases these disappeared when feudalism died out. In England the death of feudalism helped to strengthen the House of Commons in Parliament. In 1363 Ed III appointed ,,justices of the peace" to deal with smaller crimes & offenses & to hold court 4 times a year. These JPs as they became known, were usually less important lords or members of the landed gentry. They were & still are chosen for their fairness & honesty. This made the middle classes still stronger. The JPs remained the only form of local government to the countryside until 1888. They still exist to deal with small offenses. In the 15th cent. grew discontent with the Church. The greed of the Church was one reason. Another was that Ed III's wars had made the English conscious of their ,,Englishness". Pope was a foreigner, and what was worse, he had been driven out of Rome & was living in France.

toiletries and cosmetics business? At The Body Shop, women represent the vast majority of both employees and customers our two most important stakeholder groups. It has therefore been natural for us to direct our attention and support to women's rights through our various campaigns. In 1997, the `Love Your Body' campaign, featuring a round, redheaded doll named Ruby, celebrated the diversity of women. The `Love Your Body' slogan has remained with us, along with a commitment to honesty. We do not promise eternal youth in our advertising, or prey on women's insecurities, but focus instead on products which provide wellbeing and comfort. We believe that domestic violence is strongly related to self-esteem. Domestic violence undermines a woman's self esteem, making it very difficult for her to take a stand against abusers or leave an abusive relationship. In many ways our `Stop Violence in the Home' campaign is an evolution of our former campaigns.

Soon your beliefs will mirror your acts, and your acts will mirror your beliefs. ■ THE LAW OF EXPECTATIONS The Law of Expectations says that whatever you expect, with confidence, becomes your own self-fulfilling prophecy. You are continually telling your own fortune when you talk about how you think things are going to turn out in a particular area

reporter during the civil war in Spain as the background for his most ambitious novel, For Whom the Bell Tolls (1940). Among his later works, the most outstanding is the short novel, The Old Man and the Sea (1952), the story of an old fisherman's journey, his long and lonely struggle with a fish and the sea, and his victory in defeat. Hemingway - himself a great sportsman - liked to portray soldiers, hunters, bullfighters - tough, at times primitive people whose courage and honesty are set against the brutal ways of modern society, and who in this confrontation lose hope and faith. His straightforward prose, his spare dialogue, and his predilection for understatement are particularly effective in his short stories, some of which are collected in Men Without Women (1927) and The Fifth Column and the First Forty-Nine Stories (1938). Hemingway died in Idaho in 1961. Novels · (1926) The Torrents of Spring · (1926) The Sun Also Rises

Romero's talents in the ring charm both aficionados and newcomers to the sport alike. He serves as a foil (a character whose attitudes or emotions contrast with, and thereby accentuate, those of another character) for Jake and his friends in that he carries himself with dignity and confidence at all times. Moreover, his passion for bullfighting gives his life meaning and purpose. In a world of amorality and corrupted masculinity, Romero remains a figure of honesty, purity, and strength. Montoya - The owner of a Pamplona inn and a bullfighting expert. Montoya sees bullfighting as something sacred, and he respects and admires Jake for his genuine enthusiasm about it. Montoya takes a paternal interest in the gifted young bullfighter Pedro Romero and seeks to protect him from the corrupting influences of tourists and fame. HAMLET Words, words, words. LORD POLONIUS What is the matter, my lord? HAMLET Between who? LORD POLONIUS I mean, the matter that you read, my lord. HAMLET Slanders, sir: for the satirical rogue says here that old men have grey beards, that their faces are wrinkled, their eyes purging thick amber and plum-tree gum and that they have a plentiful lack of wit, together with most weak hams: all which, sir, though I most powerfully and potently believe, yet I hold it not honesty to have it thus set down, for yourself, sir, should be old as I am, if like a crab you could go backward. LORD POLONIUS [Aside] Though this be madness, yet there is method in 't. Will you walk out of the air, my lord? HAMLET 64 Into my grave. LORD POLONIUS Indeed, that is out o' the air. There were quiz shows were people tried to cheat money. He believed that materialism of American society had weakened the moral fibre of even basically good men such as Ethan Hawley. This corruption around him he is tempted and falls into it. He understands that he cant succeed in life through honesty, he comes to a sad conclusion and sees how other poeple are honest men and he commits several things he is not proud. campaigns of both major candidates in important elections gives evidence of such motives. A skeptic, requiring direct evidence of the quid pro quo expected by political contributors, might look to the remarkably bald-faced admission by businessman Roger Tamraz at congressional hearings on campaign finance re- form. When asked if he felt he received a good return on his contribution of $300,000, he smiled and replied, "I think next time, I'll give $600,000." Honesty of this sort is rare in politics. For the most part, the givers and takers join voices to dismiss the idea that campaign contributions, free trips, and Super Bowl tickets would bias the opinions of "sober, conscientious" government offi- cials. As the head of one lobbying organization insisted, there is no cause for con- cern because "These [government officials] are smart, mature, sophisticated men and women at the top of their professions, disposed by training to be discerning,

"How did you get home so fast?" "He drives like a maniac. It was terrifying." I hoped he heard that. "Was it like a date -- did you tell him to meet you there?" I hadn't thought of that. "No -- I was very surprised to see him there." Her lips puckered in disappointment at the transparent honesty in my voice. "But he picked you up for school today?" she probed. "Yes -- that was a surprise, too. He noticed I didn't have a jacket last night," I explained. "So are you going out again?" "He offered to drive me to Seattle Saturday because he thinks toy truck isn't up to it -- does that count?" "Yes." She nodded. "Well, then, yes." "W-o-w."
