Afterwards, Moses went up on Mount Cyanide to get the ten commandments. David was a Hebrew king skilled at playing the liar. He fougth with the Philatelists, a race of people who lived in Biblical times. Solomon, one of David's sons, had 500 wives and 500 porcupines. Without the Greeks, we wouldn't have history. The Greeks invented three kinds of columns - Corinthian, Doric and Ironic. They also had myths. A myth is a female moth. One myth says that the mother of Achilles dipped him in the River Stynx until he became intolerable. Achilles appears in "The Illiad", by Homer. Homer also wrote the "Oddity", in which Penelope was the last hardship that Ulysses endured on his journey. Actually, Homer was not written by Homer but by another man of that name.

During the years, the importance of computers and internet has grown rapidly. Some people predict that this may mean the end of the printed word as a means of communication. The biggest advantage is that internet is the quickest way to do everyday activities, like reading the latest news, searching for information, listening to music, watching films and TV series and online shopping. One of the oldest type of entertainment is the theatre. It is a word taken from the Ancient Greeks. It means Seeing Place. A typical stage-play depends on 3 things: actions seen, words spoken and people watching and listening. The first theatres were built by the ancient Greeks. They were outdoors. There were no plays. Songs sung by a chorus told stories about gods. There were also dances. Today the interior of a modern theatre looks different. The two main parts of a modern theatre are the stage and the hall. The hall is separated from the stage by the orchestra

In the beginning the games lasted for only one day and comprised only one event, the running of one Stadion, but gradually more events were added resulting, towards the 5th century B.C., in the games lasting for 5 days. In total the Olympic Games consisted of 10 events: running, the pentathlon (viievõistlus), jumping, discus, "ekebolon" javelin, wrestling, boxing, the pancration, chariot racing and horse racing. All Greeks who were not criminals had the right to take part in the games. Women were not allowed to compete, they could not even watch the competition. The athletes presented themselves 1 moth before the games began at Elis, the organising town. The athletes had to swear that they would compete with honour and respect the rules. The victors enjoyed great honours and on returning to their cities their compatriots pulled down part of the walls for them to enter. They were also given

RELIGION: Islam, Christianity, Druze, Judaism, Baha'i Syrian Arab Republic, more commonly known as Syria. The fertile land of Syria lies at the crossroads of great trade routes between the East and West. It is also the site of many holy places in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Because of these advantages, it has been invaded, conquered, and occupied by many different peoples over its long history. These groups include the Egyptians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, European Crusaders, Mongols from Central Asia, Turks, British, and French. In 1946, the French gave up control over Syria, and the Syrian Arab Republic was created. Syria is a country in the Middle East bordering the Mediterranean Sea. Neighboring countries include Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey. The geography of Syria is primarily semiarid and desert plateau with a double mountain belt in the west. I am very fond of hockey (football, figure-skating etc.). I try to watch every hockey match (championship) on TV. The Olympic Games 1)The Olympic Games have a very long history. They began in ancient Greece. The games were held in honour of Zeus, the principal god of the Greeks. They lasted for five days and became a symbol of peace and friendship, because in keeping with the decree of that time no wars could be waged during the Games. The athletes competed in running, boxing, wrestling, horse and chariot racing and the like. The winners were presented with laurel wreaths in the temple of Zeus. There is a list of Winners dating from 776 EC. 2)The Games took place every four years and were so important in the life of the Greeks that they culculated time by them

In the eighth chapter the author presents an overview of the Orthodox infestations in Estonia and the fact that the number of Orthodox believers has been rising in Estonia since 1840. The ninth, and the last chapter, describes the number of Orthodox believers throughout the world and the pilgrimage of the Orthodox Greeks to the Holy Land. The author of the paper has also decided to add illustrative pictures to the work, which contribute to the better perception of the written material. In the appendix to the paper the results of the surveys and the most interesting versions of the legends are attached. There are also listed the names of the nunnery commanders ever appointed through the long history of the monastery, the holy places, and the most worshiped icons of the nunnery.

T h e second type of Anti-hero is more like the classical idea o f the tragic Hero. These are flawed Heroes who never overcome their inner demons and are brought down and destroyed by them. T h e y may be charming, they may have ad mirable qualities, but the flaw wins out in the end. Some tragic Anti-heroes are not so admirable, but we watch their downfall with fascination because "there, but for the grace of God, go I." Like the ancient Greeks who watched Oedipus fall, we are purged of our emotions and we learn to avoid the same pitfalls as we watch the destruction of Al Pacino's character in Scarface, Sigourney Weaver as Dian Fossey in Gorillas in the Mist, or Diane Keaton's character in Looking for Mr. Goodbar. GROUP-ORIENTED HEROES Another distinction must be made about Heroes with respect to their orientation to society. Like the first storytellers, the earliest humans who went out hunting and
The goal of education is not mastery of subject matter, but of one's person. Subject matter is simply the tool. Much as one would use a hammer and chisel to carve a block of marble, one uses ideas and knowledge to forge one's own personhood. For the most part we labor under a confusion of ends and means, thinking that the goal of education is to stuff all kinds of facts, techniques, methods, and information into the student's mind, regardless of how and with what effect it will be used. The Greeks knew better. Third, I would like to propose that knowledge carries with it the responsibility to see that it is well used in the world. The results of a great deal of contemporary research bear resemblance to those foreshadowed by Mary Shelley: monsters of technology and its byproducts for which no one takes responsibility or is even expected to take responsibility. Whose responsibility is Love Canal? Chernobyl? Ozone depletion? The Valdez oil spill

Wernwag's Colossus, destroyed by fire in 1838, is but one example of many outstanding wooden bridges lost in this manner throughout history. There was another material, however, whose use at the end of the 18th century offered bridge engineers an alternative to the traditional materials of timber, stone, and brick. Although it had first been used in antiquity, iron was the miracle material of the Industrial Revolution. The Greeks and Romans had used it to reinforce stone pediments and columns in their temples and iron links had been forged by the Chinese and used in suspension bridges. The successful smelting of iron with coke, rather than charcoal, by English ironmaster Abraham Darby in 1709 freed iron production from fuel shortage restrictions, made large castings possible, and facilitated creation of the arch ribs for the world's first iron bridge, built seventy years later. For goodness sake, we are already into the 21st century, and we have nothing to show for it either in Africa or in the Diaspora. 6 But history could be on our side if we harness our capital well. It is a fact that human species, as we know it today, evolved from Africa. It is a fact that civilisation as we know it today evolved from Africa. It is a fact that the art of learning in a university environment began in Africa. But the Greeks and the Romans (Caucasians) did not abhor learning from our people, especially in Egypt. They learned everything from our forbears, became very proficient, became more powerful than our Kings, and conquered our people. Today, the Capitalist Nigger is not in any mood to conquer anybody. His sole mission in life is the accumulation of wealth in comparison to the accumulation of wealth of his Caucasian-brothers.
and Palestine. Cyrus conquered by diplomacy as well as by force. The subject of a rich legend in Persia and Greece (recorded by Xenophon and others), he was called the father of his people. He appears in the Bible as the liberator of the Jews held captive in Babylon. He died battling nomads in Central Asia. His legacy is the founding not only of an empire but of a culture and civilization that continued to expand after his death and lasted for two centuries. He exerted a strong influence on the Greeks and Alexander the Great. Awarded heroic qualities in legend, he has long been revered by Persians almost as a religious figure.
