Betty Botter Betty Botter had some butter, "But," she said, "this butter's bitter. If I bake this bitter butter, it would make my batter bitter. But a bit of better butter that would make my batter better." So she bought a bit of butter, better than her bitter butter, and she baked it in her batter, and the batter was not bitter. So 'twas better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter. Sea Shells by the Sea Shore She sells sea shells by the seashore. The shells she sells are surely seashells. We can't be sure of the exact place where it came from but it is known that the monks served a cream tea at Tavistok Abbey in Devon (short for Devonshire) in the 11'th century. Clotted cream must go on top of the scone in a cream tea. Clotted cream is similar to soft butter and can also be used instead of butter in toffees. In the olden days milk was left to stand for some time so that the cream would rise to the topp. This cream was put into big pans which were kept in boiling water. That way the cream became much thicker snd looked like butter. In the past, clotted cream was only produced in the West Country Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, and Dorset. This is the part of the country where the rich soil, mild climate, and the

The rolling bun

Russian national tale "The rolling bun" Once there lived an old man and old woman. The old man said, "Old woman, bake me a rolling bun." "What can I make it from? I have no flour." "Eh, eh, old woman! Scrape the cupboard, sweep the flour bin, and you will find enough flour." The old woman picked up a duster, scraped the cupboard, swept the flour bin and gathered about two handfuls of flour. She mixed the dough with sour cream, fried it in butter, and put the rolling bun on the window sill to cool. The rolling bun lay and lay there. Suddenly it rolled off the window sill to the bench, from the bench to the floor, from the floor to the door. Then it rolled over the threshold to the entrance hall, from the entrance hall to the porch, from the porch to the courtyard, from the courtyard through the gate and on and on. The rolling bun rolled along the road and met a hare.

SWEDISH FOOD

From late August to early September, a stinky tradition is upheld in Sweden, particularly in the northern part of the country. This is when cans of fermented sour Baltic herring (surströmming) are opened — a tradition dating to the 1800s. The custom always takes place outdoors owing to the overpowering, unpleasant smell, which many compare to rotten eggs and raw sewage. Crisp bread — hard to beat In addition to bread and butter, you’ll often find a type of crisp bread called knäckebröd served alongside your main meal. This is what the Swedes tend to reach for. Once considered poor man’s food, crisp bread has been baked in Sweden for over 500 years, can last for at least a year if stored properly, and remains among the most versatile edible products. The National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) ran a campaign in the 1970s suggesting Swedes should eat six to eight slices of bread a day,

When they did, they found great streches of grassland. Some of the early settlers had been sheepmen in Britain. They saw that the grasslands would be a wonderful place for raising sheep. They knew that wool stands shipping well. They knew, too, that it is worth enough to pay for shipping it long distances. Many started sheep farms. Before long Australia became the greatest wool-producing country in the world. In some cases cattle were raised on the grassland instead of sheep. But beef and butter are not as easy to ship as wool. The Gold Rush Gold was discovered in southeastern Australia in 1851. There was a great gold rush. Thousands of people went to the new land to find their fortunes. Gold was dug by hand, without any mining machinery. There was so much of it in the ground that some lucky gold- diggers found twenty to thirty kilograms of gold in an hour. By 1852 the country was gold-mad

Sometimes I start my breakfast with a cereal which is not cooked, it is something dry, ready to be eaten or muesli some grain or porridge which is not cooked with dried fruit, nuts and so on. I also like eating eggs (cooked in different ways). I don't practically eat butter; I prefer soft margarine made of vegetable fat, which is not heavy and creamy. I don't eat jam at breakfast, I eat marmalade which is not sweet, there is slight bitterness; it's rather pleasant for my taste. I usually don't have substantial breakfast on weekdays; I do it on weekends when I get up late. Very often I have just some tea or coffee with sandwiches. Tea is usually taken by me with milk. disturbing is the fact that an alarming proportion--approximately onethird--of the students have neither. Eating brown bread Interestingly enough, bread, a good source of fiber, enjoys popularity among young people. 75 per cent of the students surveyed eat three or more slices of brown bread per day, with only a quarter of respondents restricting themselves to one or two slices. Eating fat As regards fat consumption, the majority of the students eat margarine. Four students prefer butter, and another four eat neither. Conclusion It is noticeable that the eating habits of students in their final year at Freedonian Secondary School are not very healthy. Moreover, there are no students who have both breakfast and school lunch, eat more than four slices of brown bread per day, and avoid fat. In this essay, I will discuss whether prevention is better than trying to treat people who are ill and whether or not this is possible in all cases

Furthermore, fast food is cheaper. If you live alone, it is usually cheaper to buy a meal for one at the supermarket. Also, certain junk foods like burgers and fries are notoriously cheap. On the other hand, junk food contains more fat, salt and calories. Many junk food restaurants increase the fat content in items even further by using cooking methods such as deep frying in saturated oils. Ground beef patties are cooked on a frying pan surface covered with butter or other saturated and unhealthy oils like lard or cottonseed oils. Consuming too much salt can contribute to high blood pressure, water retention and obesity. It is not uncommon for a single meal consisting of a cheeseburger, fries and a shake to have the equivalent of an entire or even two days' worth of calories. What is more, eating snack food encourages people to eat on the go. People are encouraged to eat quickly and then leave the premises or eat while doing something else

responsible for increased body fat in women.14 A clear indicator to why vegetarian women were at the highest risk for developing coronary artery disease was not found. One possible reason behind it could be that vegetarian women consumed an unhealthier diet compared to their non-vegetarian counterparts. Vegetarians, unlike vegans, do still consume some animal derived foods; mainly eggs and dairy products. Eggs, milk, cheese, cream, ghee and butter are widely present in vegetarian diets. It could be possible for a vegetarian to consume more saturated fat compared to a meat eater. To put this into perspective, one tablespoon of butter, which is 14.2 grams, contains 7 grams of saturated fat.15 In contrast, 100 grams of beef contains 6 grams of saturated fat.16 This makes butter much higher in saturated fat content, and high consumption of saturated fats has been linked to higher risk of developing coronary disease

exchanged based on relationship. At the very least, a Christmas card, usually with a robin or cardinal on it, and maybe a little folding paper inside, is given to extended family. St. Stephen's Day: Christmas leftovers are enjoyed all day. A soup is made from the remnants of the bird, with a mix of vegetables from the Christmas dinner. Sometimes a luscious pie is made of ham and turkey with layers of mashed potatoes and gravy. The plum pudding is reheated in a little butter in a heavy frying pan. Traditionally, pantomime plays are performed on St. Stephen's day, in which women play the men's roles and vice- versa. In Dublin there are usually several plays going on with subjects including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Puss in Boots, and Babes in the Wood. On St. Stephen's Day, which is also known as Boxing Day, it's customary to give small gifts, usually of cash, to the milkman, mailman, and others who perform services throughout the year. Epiphany:

In that sense, "Good Governance" privileges the Second over the First Sector, even in First Sector areas. The Hatter ... had taken his watch out of his pocket, and was looking at it uneasily.... "Two days wrong! ... I told you butter wouldn't suit the works!" he added, looking angrily at the March Hare. "It was the best butter," the March Hare meekly replied. (Carroll 1865) As this implies, `Good', like its superlative, is often a relative term, meaning `good of its kind', or for its standard purpose, whatever that may be. Failing such a reference, the judgment of goodness is indeterminate, and cannot be applied or debated without risk of confusion

Queen Elizabeth II is Queen of New Zealand. In 1893, New Zealand was the first country in the world to give women the right to vote. New Zealand's economy has traditionally been based on exports from its very efficient agricultural system. With warm temperatures and a lot of rain, New Zealand is a great place for farms of all kinds. For every person living in New Zealand there are twenty sheep and three cows. That is why New Zealand sells more meat from these animals, and more butter, than any other country, and also a lot of wool. Other traditional exports include wood, paper, fruit and vegetables, and fish. In the last few decades wine has also become important. New Zealand has substantial hydroelectric power and fairly large reserves of natural gas. The leading manufacturing sectors are food processing, metal fabrication, and wood and paper products. Its main trading partners are Australia, the US, Japan, and China.

A proper noun has two distinctive features: 1) it will name a specific [usually a one-of-a-kind] item, and 2) it will begin with a capital letter no matter where it occurs in a sentence. quantifier We use quantifiers when we want to give someone information about the number of something: how much or how many. Sometimes we use a quantifier in the place of a determiner: Most children start school at the age of five. We ate some bread and butter. We saw lots of birds. uncountable nouns Uncountable nouns are substances, concepts etc that we cannot divide into separate elements. We cannot "count" them. For example, we cannot count "milk". We can count "bottles of milk" or "litres of milk", but we cannot count "milk" itself. Here are some more uncountable nouns: •music, art, love, happiness •advice, information, news •furniture, luggage •rice, sugar, butter, water •electricity, gas, power
