Reading books makes a person more intelligent and it gives a different perspective. Nowadays people tend to read less books than they used to. The main reason for this catastrophy is the development of technology. People would rather watch moving pictures in the television than pick up an old book covered in dust. In the past, when there were no television or computers to entertain people, books were basically the only amusement. On the other hand the lifestyle of ours has gotten tremendously busy and some do not find the time to just sit back and relax by reading. With the development of technology, people will become more lazier which may result in the lack of reading. Printed books will be replaced with e-books, print media with social media and so on. They feel that books are unnecessary, all the information needed and more is available online
Summer holidays are too long Summer holidays are important. Children need enough time to rest from school hard work. They have to have time to do all the things they like. Children aren't the only ones who need all this, teachers need it too. Children need long holidays. In summer they can go on vacation with their families and visit all the interesting places. Some kids like water parks and amusement parks, some are interested in museums. They can also visit relatives. Every child wants to play and spend time with friends outside of school, also develop their hobbies. If summer holidays were shorter, they wouldn't have time to do all this. School is hard work. Learning new things all day, and after school there is homework to do. There is quite little time left for children to keen on their hobbies. Men do all the same things all day and some women stay home and
The second thing I want to point out is stability. Stability is the second important thing. State companies are those, who have stable job, because country supports these companies and give the all the job. When you don´t have stable job, then maybe you don´t do your job correctly and you get fired. Then you have to search a new job. Anyway, I like the stable work. The most important thing I want to point out is money. Money gives you all, like residence, food and amusement. I would like to earn much money in future. When i have money, I can buy things i want to, not things that I can. When I have money, I can move from countryside to a big city, closer to my work. My family would be happier, when we have things we like and enjoy. The three most important needs and wants in my opinion are good environment, stable work and money. In a nutshell I want good job and luxurious life.
computer than phone. Next I asked how importante is internet for them. all girls said that they cant live without it but only 2 boys of 7 said the same. Also internet is a place were we can buy everything we want. People who said that they had bought something were satisfied with that. conclusion is that people are addicted to internet. They probably cant live without it, especially teenagers. Good thing is that they use it for school too, not only for amusement. bad thing about internet is that it effects grades. Also internet is not safe when we are talking to someone because we dont really know whose the other side of the computer. Coputer may cause you a health broblems when you use it too much , like example it can damage your eyes. Thank you for listening

dwarf the importance of sporting trophies and achievements in such a way that sports becomes relative to the size of a gnat to an elephant. How long will we continue to delude ourselves about the importance of sports and its participants in relation to the value and vital nature of research technologies? The question of "what is a sport?" was recently bandied about on the BleacherReport.com and besides the myriad of opinions is this. A sport is merely a pastime, an amusement and nothing else. It makes me laugh to see how seriously it seems to be taken, by so many, considering the plight we are putting ourselves in ecologically. Besides all of this, I myself still enjoy sport and being distracted by it. It is merely the importance placed on it that bothers me so much. It remains ridiculous to me that the pursuit of sport has gotten to be in certain situations to be a more powerful thing than the pursuit of knowledge.
mournful meditation on the nature of love. No sooner does Catherine announce to Henry that she is in mourning for her dead fiancé than she begins a game meant to seduce Henry. Her reasons for doing so are clear: she wants to distance herself from the pain of her loss. Likewise, Henry intends to get as far away from talk of the war as possible. In each other, Henry and Catherine find temporary solace from the things that plague them. The couple's feelings for each other quickly pass from an amusement that distracts them to the very fuel that sustains them. Henry's understanding of how meaningful his love for Catherine is outweighs any consideration for the emptiness of abstract ideals such as honor, enabling him to flee the war and seek her out. Reunited, they plan an idyllic life together that promises to act as a salve for the damage that the war has inflicted. Far away from the decimated Italian countryside, each intends to be the other's refuge
These nations grant the press freedom to report news and opinions without government interference. There are five chief fields of journalism: newspapers, news services, magazines, radio and television. A newspaper provides many kinds of communications. Some articles, such as news stories and recipes, furnish information. Others are usually meant just for fun. Newspapers cover more stories than do any any of the other news media. Many millions of people watch television for amusement during their free time. But television provides viewers with more than just entertainment. Most people get a large proportion of their news from TV news broadcasts. So television is the chief source of news for many households around the world. TV does what none of the other media can: it brings the sights and sounds of some importnant news events by means of filmed, taped, or live reports. In addition to daily news reports, television covers special news events. Coverage of such an

Researchers have noticed that computers improve our critical thinking skills, student collaboration, performing real-life tasks and performing complex tasks. And furthermore, computers are becoming more and more important for our studies, since they are used writing essays, researching and for learning more about our enviroment. Besides using computers for our studies and educational purposes, computers are also quite useful for our amusement. About 10 years ago, there was no other way to watch new movies but in cinema. But our entertainment possibilities does not end with movies. Not at all! Computers are used alot when listening to music or playing games. There is now a huge industry for computer gamers, which is one of the

In time, this kind of exercise was incorporated into a system that figured prominently in the state regulations for education. In fact, the period for exercise or gymnastics was equal to the time spent on art and music combined. All Greek cities had a gymnasium, a courtyard for jumping, running, and wrestling. As the Roman Empire ascended, the Greek gymnastics gave way to gymnastics whose purpose was military training. The Romans, for example, introduced the wooden horse.

institutions that want to project a policy line or political viewpoint. In order to make best use of the different mass media channels, you should keep in mind what the media themselves see as their primary role, which differs in the above cases. In general, the role of the mass media in global society has been evolving over the past century towards the following goals and duties: 1. The media informs the public, provides information and amusement, generates political ideas, mobilizes political and social action groups, and generally helps to shape the public policy agenda and priorities. 2. The media plays a role of political accountability and checks-and-balances, keeping an eye on public officials and institutions and constantly challenging them via reports, interviews, debates, etc. 3. It was very important in Aboriginal thinking, to replicate the songs that had been first played and sung by the ancestors in the Dreamtime. When the traditional music and songs were used, living men considered themselves to be in the Dreamtime. Particularly during initiation ceremonies. However 'new songs' were created from time to time. They told of important events in the history of the tribe. Events such as great battles or hunting expeditions. Other songs and music were for general amusement or entertainment and early European observations of the Aborigines included camp life where the people played games and sang songs around their camp fires. Almost all of the Koori (preferred name of Australian aborigines) shaman are initiated within one large group, called "The Dreamers". This is due to the fact that Australia has some of the strongest, and chaotic magic, around. All of the shaman are needed to put a check on that chaos. A Koori shaman

Between 1653 and 1658 he ruled the UK, with more or less the same powers as a monarch, but as he was 'Lord Protector' of the Commonwealth, he had no crown. By the time Cromwell died, he, his system of government, and the puritan ethics that went with it (theatres and other forms of amusement had been banned) had become so unpopular that the executed king’s son was asked to return and become King Charles II. 18. TALLINN - If you're looking for entertainment in Estonia this summer, you are really spoiled for choice. Festivals and events dedicated to the consumption of beer are a lot of fun, but if you want to get the true feel of the country, you need something a little more ethnic. Like a town fair. Just as July becomes August, the seaside town of Haapsalu will host a grand spectacle of rural Estonian entertainment. The White Lady Days is a summer celebration filled with amusement for all the family. Held in and around the remains of the Teutonic-knights-era castles, the fair combines enchanting medieval legends with modern countryside charm to create a comprehensive experience of Estonia beyond the big cities. But the legend of the White Lady of Haapsalu, which is at the heart of the festival, is perhaps the most famous tall tale of the many that are so abundant in Estonia's folklore.
"Enjoy your first day?" he asked, startling me. His voice resonated, flowing over me in a seductive rhythm. How the hell did he know it was my first day? "Yes, actually," I answered evenly. "How was yours?" I felt his gaze slide over my profile, but I kept my attention trained on the brushed aluminum elevator doors. My heart was racing in my chest, my stomach quivering madly. I felt jumbled and off my game. "Well, it wasn't my first," he replied with a hint of amusement. "But it was successful. And getting better as it progresses." I nodded and managed a smile, having no idea what that was supposed to mean. The car slowed on the twelfth floor and a friendly group of three got on, talking excitedly among themselves. I stepped back to make room for them, retreating into the opposite corner of the elevator from Dark and Dangerous. Except he sidestepped along with me. We were suddenly closer than we'd been before.

" "No more have I," said Mr. Bennet; "and I am glad to find that you do not depend on her serving you." Mrs. Bennet deigned not to make any reply, but, unable to contain herself, began scolding one of her daughters. "Don't keep coughing so, Kitty, for Heaven's sake! Have a little compassion on my nerves. You tear them to pieces." "Kitty has no discretion in her coughs," said her father; "she times them ill." "I do not cough for my own amusement," replied Kitty fretfully. "When is your next ball to be, Lizzy?" "To-morrow fortnight." "Aye, so it is," cried her mother, "and Mrs. Long does not come back till the day before; so it will be impossible for her to introduce him, for she will not know him herself." "Then, my dear, you may have the advantage of your friend, and introduce Mr. Bingley to her." "Impossible, Mr. Bennet, impossible, when I am not acquainted with him myself; how can you be so teasing?"
When Levin proposes to Kitty at her home, she clumsily turns him down, because she believes she is in love with Vronsky and that he will propose to her. At the ball, Vronsky pays Anna considerable attention, and dances with her, choosing her as a partner instead of Kitty, who is shocked and heartbroken. Kitty realises that Vronsky has fallen in love with Anna, and that despite his overt flirtations with her he has no intention of marrying her and in fact views his attentions to her as mere amusement, believing that she does the same. Anna, shaken by her emotional and physical response to Vronsky, returns at once to Saint Petersburg. Vronsky travels on the same train. During the overnight journey, the two meet and Vronsky confesses his love. Anna refuses him, although she is deeply affected by his attentions to her. Levin, crushed by Kitty's refusal, returns to his estate farm, abandoning any hope of marriage, and Anna returns to her husband Alexei Alexandrovich

He had been listening, it was obvious. "Hi." I couldn't think of anything else to say, and he didn't speak -- biding his time, I presumed -- so it was a quiet walk to the cafeteria. Walking with Edward through the crowded lunchtime rush was a lot like my first day here; everyone stared. He led the way into the line, still not speaking, though his eyes returned to my face every few seconds, their expression speculative. It seemed to me that irritation was winning out over amusement as the dominant emotion in his face. I fidgeted nervously with the zipper on my jacket. He stepped up to the counter and filled a tray with food. "What are you doing?" I objected. "You're not getting all that for me?" He shook his head, stepping forward to buy the food. "Half is for me, of course." I raised one eyebrow. He led the way to the same place we'd sat that one time before. From the other end of the long table, a
It's a major source of the magic o f the heroic myth. T h e experiences of the preceding stages have led us, the audience, to identify with the hero and her fate. W h a t happens to the hero happens to us. W e are encouraged to experience the brink-of-death moment with her. Our emotions are temporarily depressed so that they can be revived by the hero's return from death. T h e result of this revival is a feeling of elation and exhilaration. T h e designers of amusement park thrill rides know how to use this principle. Roller coasters make their passengers feel as i f they're going to die, and there's a great thrill that comes from brushing up against death and surviving it. You're never more alive than when you're looking death in the face. T h i s is also the key element in rites of passage or rituals of initiation into fraternities and secret societies. T h e initiate is forced to taste death in some terrible

Select the sample program "PowersOfThree.txt," from the pop-up menu in the xComputer Window. Read the comments at the beginning of the file, and then load the program into xComputer's memory by clicking on the "Translate" button. Set the display style to "Graphics" and the run speed to "Fastest," and run the program. You will see the bits in
crippling changes to the tail, hind legs and vertebrae which would make an affected cat reluctant to move around. In 1736-37, Martini's work was superseded by that of French Jesuit du Halde's works on the Chinese Empire. This compiled material from French Jesuits and re-used some of Martini's book, including the description of the long-eared white cats: "Among the animal species one finds singular (i.e. unique) cats which the Chinese ladies seek out to provide them with amusement and feed with plenty of delicacies: they have long fur and drooping ears." This remained the standard reference book for many years and was reused by other authors, including the passage about the lop-eared cats. For example John Green's book described the lop-eared cats of Peking Province as "a particular Sort of Cats, with long Hair, and hanging Ears, which the Chinese Ladies are very fond of." This was later translated back into French
should know and practice. The fourth great civilization of antiquity, the Mesopo-tamian, rather paralleled Egypt early in its cryptographic evolution, but then surpassed it. Thus, in the last period of cuneiform writing, in colophons written at Uruk (in present-day Iraq) under the Seleucid kings in the last few score years before the Christian era, occasional scribes converted their names into numbers. The encipherment—if such it be—may have been only for amusement or to show off. The Holy Scriptures themselves have not escaped a touch of cryptography—or protocryptography, to be precise, for the element of secrecy is lacking. Hebrew tradition offers at least two such conversions in the Old Testament (none are recorded for the New). In Jeremiah 25:26 and 51:41, the form SHESHACH appears in place of Babel ("Babylon"). The second occurrence strikingly demonstrates the lack of a secrecy motive, since
