Essay about Food Inc

Essay about Food Inc. Food Inc. is a 2008 American documentary film directed by filmmaker Robert Kenner. Food Inc. is about corporate farming in the United States, where farms produce food that is unhealthy, in a way that is environmentally harmful and abusive of both animals and employees. The main problem is how the animals are raised, how they are slaughtered and how the meat is manufactured. Farms are controlled by big food industries. Cows are fed corn instead of grass, because corn is cheeper and makes cows obese more quickly. Because of the unhealthy environment animals are raised in, they get infected with salmonella and coliform bacteria

If I were the misiter on education

If I were the Minister of Education If I got the chance to be the Minister of Education, I would definitely make some changes in school life, changes for the better of course. Firstly, I would improve school catering. I would make school food free for all students because at the moment it is quite expensive. Because of that some students can not afford to eat at school but schooldays are long and it is unhealthy to go all day without eating. School buffet's offer unhealthy chips and pies but very little healthy vegetables and fruits so I would make buffets healthier. Secondly, I believe that it would make classes more effective to watch different educational movies. Doing the same thing from day to day is simply boring and some variety would surely increase students' interest in class. The third thing I would do to spice up life at school is organizing more fieldtrips

Essee fast food

No matter how much the chefs praise the benefits of fresh food, at the end of a hard working day, when one returns home all tired and hungry, a pizza or a burger can be godsend. Besides the time an individual has to spend in the kitchen, cooking a meal also requires one to make a trip to the supermarket to buy the ingredients for the food. Fast food has very many disadvantages. The greatest disadvantage of fast food is the adverse effect. It is a fact that fast food is more unhealthy than homecooked meals, as they contain higher amounts of salt, fats and calories. The greater the number of people at a meal in a fast food restaurant, the larger is the bill. Eating at fast food outlets is economical only for a single person. Going out to a fast food eating joint with family once in a while won't matter much. However, frequent visits to such restaurants with one's family can become quite an expensive affair, besides being unhealthy.

Advantages and disadvantages of fast food

is that it saves time. In today's fast-paced life, there is nothing better than getting a ready meal. Also fast food is very convenient - people can go to the restaurant or store and buy and eat right away what ever they want. And after eating, they do not have to clean any dishes. Besides time, it saves money too, because you do not have to buy all the extra ingredients all you buy goes right down to stomach. On the other, fast food does raise health concerns. It is very unhealthy with high amounts of calories, saturated fats, salt, etc. They also lack necessary vitamins. Pizza is probably the most 'healthy' fast food, because it consist different types of food. Fast food is an important contributor to obesity in the America. Futhermore, with obesity come other problems like high blood pressure and heart disease. It is a fact that fast food is more unhealthy than home-cooked meals. Fast food saves more time and money than cooking a meal at home

How can we reduce air pollution levels in our cities

Tons of harmful gases emit to the air everyday. Factories have caused this problem. We need to do something fast before our city doesn`t become deserted. Firstly, we have to create industrial park. It will help to reduce factories in the cities, where a lot of people live. Another solution is to start stricting the laws. If the laws be very strict, then less and less persons will be able to get a license for the new factory. Finally, we should renovate our factories. Modern plant emit less unhealthy gases. This would allow us to start a policy, which will help to clean our environment. In conclusion, there are many ways to make our cities a better place to live. sell the land of the Longheath Park. In my opinion, this is a terrible idea which will have many disadvantages for our town. Firstly, if the park is sold to the property developer, he will built an estate of 50 houses on the land. As a result, there will be no open spaces left. Therefore, children will not have a chance to play freely, and people will have nowhere to walk their dogs or ride their bikes. Secondly, there will be less green areas in town. Obviously, this will be very unhealthy, as people need fresh air and natural surroundings for good health. What is more, the town will be crowded and built up. Consequently, there will be more traffic, pollution, and the town will no longer be a nice place to live. To sum up, I think it is a very bad idea. I hope the local council will take my points into consideration. Yours faithfully, Evelin Sepp

School should provide computers for students to use for all their school subjects Nowadays we are moving into a IT era. This is an inevitable because everything is becoming computerized. Students use computers to make homework. I strongly believe that schools should have computers but there is no need for all the subjects. Firstly, sitting a long time in front of the computer screen is unhealthy. Students' eyes will be dry and they may have headache. It can also have a negative effect on students' moods. In addition, computer labs' maintenance is expensive. One which can be need to writing and using Internet only, costs not much, but if we need to buy about twenty computers for one class - it is huge amount. Only schools that have a lot of money can afford more machines. On the other hand, notebook can be useful and it doesn't damage your senses and health, but

Even college students need a balanced diet of protein, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and fats. Eat a variety of vegetables and moderate amounts of protein. Limit fats to the healthier choices, such as olive oil and nuts. for decades, vending machines have been the bane of many college students. They also carry the responsibility for the unhealthy "freshman fifteen," referring to the number of pounds college students often put on their first year at college. If you keep healthy snacks, such as raw veggies, yogurt and fresh fruit in your room, you may not have the urge to snack on chips and candy bars. Other healthy snacks that are easy to keep in your room are popcorn, pretzels, low-fat string cheese, raisins, trail mix, applesauce and granola bars. Eating fast food

In today's age of comfort and convenience, fast food needs no introduction. Everyone from a 2 year old toddler to a 60 year old grandpa seems to be enjoying it every time they get. And why not? It's delicious, it's filling, is really affordable, and available just any time of the day, being only a phone call away. What more can you ask for when you are living life in the fast lane? Well, plenty fast food is all good tasting, except that it is not nutritionally balanced and, therefore, unhealthy in the long run if consumed on a regular basis. Fast food is loaded with calories from refined sugar and fats .It is also very high in sodium, coming from common salt and other additives. On top of all this, fast food is deficient in dietary fiber and essential micro-nutrients like vitamins and minerals. To make matters worse, heaps of fast food are normally guzzled down with gallons of sugar- rich colas which many fast-food restaurants serve free with food as an incentive.

Their foodtable was more various because they ate everything what was edible and available in nature. Nowadays it’s very popular that people eat junkfood and different products that are full of chemicals, sugars and fat. And if they don’t move it’s easy to get overweighted. One of the main problems why humans are unhealthy is not drinking enough water. You can buy many different flavoured drinks nowadays that are full of artificial colours and sugars. Drinking water is geting very unpopular especially among young people. Human body needs water to work proparly. One of the problems why we don’t have enough water in our bodies is alcohol. I like our talkings beyond school. We always eat our favorite place, Hesburger. Its not healthy eatery, but we like it. There we always order hamburger, french fries and something drink. French fries are very unguinous and this is not good. Drinks are to saccharine. When i go out with my parents, we always go health food restaurant. There i order root vegetable soup and juice. Sometimes me order afters too. Hesburger and health food restaurant are very different, one is healthful and one is unhealthy. In general we should all eat a wide variety of nutritious foods, plenty of breads and cereals (particularly wholegrain), vegetables, legumes (such as chickpeas) and fruit, low salt foods, and use salt sparingly, small amounts of foods which contain added sugars. Healthly eating is not about trict nutrition philosophies, staying unrealistically thin, or depriving yourself of the foods you love. Rather, its about feeling great, having more energy and keeping yourself as healthy as possible.

Furthermore, fast food is cheaper. If you live alone, it is usually cheaper to buy a meal for one at the supermarket. Also, certain junk foods like burgers and fries are notoriously cheap. On the other hand, junk food contains more fat, salt and calories. Many junk food restaurants increase the fat content in items even further by using cooking methods such as deep frying in saturated oils. Ground beef patties are cooked on a frying pan surface covered with butter or other saturated and unhealthy oils like lard or cottonseed oils. Consuming too much salt can contribute to high blood pressure, water retention and obesity. It is not uncommon for a single meal consisting of a cheeseburger, fries and a shake to have the equivalent of an entire or even two days' worth of calories. Air quality in many parts of the country is already considered unhealthy. With global warming adding to it, it's only going to get worse and worse. Britain history.

The Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution began in the second half of the 18th century in which industry was transformed from hand-work at home to machine-work in factories. By 1800 Britain was the most industrialized country in the world. It was rich in coal, iron ore and wool and new methods of farming meant that England could produce enough food to feed herself and export some as well. However, the working conditions were brutal and unhealthy, safety was disregarded and there was a lot of environmental pollution. Travelling and communications were improved. Many canals and railways were built; telegraph lines, magazines and newspaper provided people with steady flow of information. The population of Britain rose from 8 million to 14 million. The largest and richest city in Europe was London, with a population of around a million. It was also an important financial centre.

Extended essay: To what extent does a plant-based diet lower the risk of coronary artery disease?

There are different types of cardiovascular diseases. Some affect the heart’s muscle, valves or rhythm, but most conditions are caused by the hardening or clogging of arteries. Coronary artery disease is associated with the hardening of arteries that supply blood to heart muscle and is, in most cases, preventable and even treatable as it’s often found to be caused by poor lifestyle choices.1 These lifestyle choices include unhealthy dietary choices, lack of exercise and cigarette smoking. Other risk factors appear to be diabetes, high blood pressure, stress and history of heart disease running in the family. 2 A plant based diet is solely based on foods that are derived from plants. Individuals who follow a plant based diet exclude all animal products from their diet. They don’t consume any meat, dairy products or eggs, as well as other products that are either derived from

And that something is controlling everything & owning everything. ONE'S QUOTA IN NATURE (P 5) Cow gives milk bu eats grass and straw. Lion will not eat grass, cow will not eat flesh. Within nature all beings follow the pattern which are set by nature. Cow is not a dead machine or petrol tank. Cow is living, loving being and a person. When cow is loved and cared milk increases. This is an arrangement of nature. When we keep cows in fearful, unhealthy conditions, then they will not produce so much milk. We should be satisfied with those things that are kindly set for us. QUOTE IN HUMAN POSSESSION OF THE EARTH (p 6-8) All materials for house come from nature from Lord. Ie carpenter makes nice furniture from the material we provide. To whom does this belong? If we don't acknowledge the authority of God, we are encroaching God's property and therefore we shall be punished.

move and sell their products all over the world. Although Coca-Cola says all that on their page I am a little skeptical about their point of view. There are a lot of scandals around Coca-Cola Company, for example the Kerala scandal in India where they drained many of the farmers water sources and therefore they lost their ability to use water for their personal use and for their crop. Another problem was their marketing scheme where they paid Warner Brothers 150$ million to promote their unhealthy products among young children with the Harry Potter movie. There are many more scandals related to Coca-Cola company and that comes to show us how they manipulate their consumers with their positive point of view to the world and to it's wonderful prosperity. Reality is that they fall more under the World Systems theory and Marxism but they try to show the world how great of a business they are and how much they care about people and the planet when it is not always true.

problem. First question was whether and under what conditions would students be prepared to return to the omnivorous community. The survey shows that students would turn back to eating meat if the quality of producing meat products would be better. Perhaps better machines, cleaner slaughterhouses, employees know about hygiene etc. Second thing what students bring out was if someone could prove that vegan food is somehow unhealthy and doesn't do good for your body. When they get a solid assurance from scientists and doctors who say "Yes, veganism and vegan diet are bad for your health", they will return to omnivorous lifestyle. Unfortunately this statement is not proved yet. There are doctors who talk about veganism as how bad it is for health but then again others find out eating plant based food is one of the most effective diets of them all.

But try to limit sugary drinks, like sodas, juice cocktails, and fruit punches. They contain a lot of added sugar. Sugar just adds calories, not important nutrients. Listen to your body. What does it feel like to be full? When you're eating, notice how your body feels and when your stomach feels comfortably full. Sometimes, people eat too much because they don't notice when they need to stop eating. Eating too much can make you feel uncomfortable and, over a period of time, can lead to unhealthy weight gain. Limit screen time. Limit screen time. What's screen time? It's the amount of time you spend watching TV or DVDs, playing video games (console systems or handheld games), and using the computer. The more time you spend on these sitting-down activities, the less time available for active stuff, like basketball, bike riding, and swimming. Try to spend no more than 2 hours a day on screen time, not counting computer use related to school.

Pay-for performance: necessary or unsuitable way to increase efficiency in the public sector

based on job performance. System that is strictly based on performance may, and probably will ignore many factors that are important to compensation, for example skills or job demands. So eventually employees would not have such strong connection with the organisation. But making performance evaluation process completely objective have not met success. As mentioned earlier pay-for performance adversely affects teamwork, creating unhealthy competition and disagreement between workers. Pay-for performance puts quite a burden on one employee since it is possible to tell who has performed well or not so well. To get better results employees and managers focus on short-term outcomes- that also reduces connection with the organisation. Many scholars agree that this kind of tools of performance management often does not consider external factors that may influence performance

Only the students of Jõhvi Gymnasium were within the scope of the survey, we got a total of 58 respondents. Throughout the work, we revealed that our estimated problem of drug abuse in Jõhvi Gymnasium didn't meet our limits. The problem was that over 70% of the respondents consumed or have consumed legal drugs such as tobacco and alcohol, and over 50% of these respondents were minors, it can be inferred that high school students' way of life is quite unhealthy. Use of illegal drugs among young people was less than 50% and thus a reasonable result. Two of the most common illegal substances used were, Cannabis and Ecstasy, a little bit less frequent yet mentioned are amphetamine and sedatives/hypnotics. 15 The frequency of drug abuse among young people was not very problematic, because the majority of the respondents had not used drugs or illegal substances, or have tried once.
