Australia

Australia Australia is the world driest continent. More than two-thirds of country is desert or dry bushland. The climate is tensely hot. Australia is relatively flat country with mountainous only in the eastern regions. Most Australians live in the southern part of the country, where winters are wild and the summers are sunny and warm. The Great Barrier Reef is Chain of 500 island and coral reefs 2000 km long, near the coast of the north-east Queensland. It is one of the natural wonders of the world. There are some 150 million sheep in Australia. This is one-fifth of the total number of sheep in the world. Dingers are wild dogs of the outback, believed to have been brought to Australia by the Aboriginats tohusand of years ago. They are expert hunters. In the hot climate of north Australia, most houses are built with verandas which provide shade. The country is divided into six self-governing states and two territories

The Dog fence

The Dingo Fence is a barrier that was built in Australia during the 1880s and finished in 1885.This fence was built only on one purpose: to stop dingoes (Australia’s wild dogs) from killing sheep. It is one of the longest structures on the planet, and the world's longest fence. it’s 3,307 miles long. That makes about 5,320 km. That is about two and a half times longer than the Great Wall of China. The fence starts near the coast of Great Australian Bight and ends up in the eastern part of Queensland in the Bunya Mountains, not far from the Pacific Ocean. At the time, it was the longest man-made structure in the world. It was only partly successful; Dingoes can still be found in parts of the southern states to this day, but although the fence helped to reduce losses of sheep. The fence is 2 meters high and it extends about 30 cm underground to keep the dingoes from digging under it. There is a gate approximately every 19 km s.

Report of Austraalia

Money comes from sheep, cattle, minerals, wheat, fruits and wine. Sheep has been important since the ear list days .Most Australian sheep are Spanish merinos. Which were first brought here in 1797. Cattle are found in the drier places. The meat from Australian cattle is sold to countries all over the world. Gold made Australia rich in the nineteen century. In Western Australia and New South Wales is grown a lot of wheat, which is sold the USA, China and Japan. In Queensland they grow bananas, further south where it is less hot, are giving apples and wine is made too! Summary This was my story about Australia. I think it's a very interesting country. There are lots of different animals and birds. I would like to visit Australia one day and visit such places as Ayers rock, national parks and the Great Barreer Reef. Materials Used

Australia/ Austraalia

Australia Australia is surrounded by the Indian and Pacific oceans, it is separated from Asia by the Arafura and Timor seas. Australia presents an enormous range of climatic conditions, since it covers thirty degrees of latitude. It is mostly temperate, but one third of the continent is tropical, and there are large desert areas. The two largest cities are Sydney and Melbourne. The capital of Australia is Canberra. It is a small city and was built in the early 1900s. History. Two hundred years ago there were no white people in Australia. The only inhabitants were dark-skinned people who were still living in a Stone Age. Their only weapons were stone knives and boomerangs. But their tribes had very well-worked- out customs. A few aborigines still live in the emptier part of the continent. In 1770, the British explorer Captain Cook raised the British flag. Cook found there a pleasan...

It is an enormous rock alone in the middle of the desert. It is three kilometers long and 348 metres high. There is another 2000 meters under the ground. Uluru is 600 000 000 years old and it is the largest rock in the world. The Great Barrier Reef. One of the natural wonders of the modern world is the Great Barrier Reef. It is located off the northeast coast of Australia. It is the biggest coral reef in the world extending 2000 kilometers along the coast of Queensland. It consists of more than 600 coral islands. Some of them are true coral islands, other are the tops of submerged mountain ranges covered with lush tropical growth. Most of the islands are inhabited and many of them have been developed as tourist resorts. Scientists estimate that the reef is more than thirty million years old. It had its beginning as a tiny animal known as the polyp. It protects itself by forming an external skeleton of lime. When it dies its shell hardens

Koaalad

Nüüdseks on koaalade arv tõusnud, kuid neid on siiski väga vähe. Koaalad on looduskaitse all.

pasture grasses and legumes promoted a resurgence in tree clearing. The 1980's also saw the release of soil-applied arboricides, notably tebuthiuron, that could be utilised without cutting and injecting each individual tree. In many ways `artificial' clearing, particularly pulling, mimics the effects of fire and, in savannas adapted to regeneration after fire as most Queensland savannas are, there is a similar response to that after fire. Tree clearing in many savanna communities, although causing a dramatic reduction in basal area and canopy cover, often leaves a high percentage of woody plants alive either as seedlings too small to be affected or as plants capable of re-sprouting from lignotubers and broken stumps. A population of woody plants equal to half or more of the original number often remains following pulling of eucalypt communities, even if all the

Australia Topic Koostas: Aineõpetaja: Tallinn 2011 Location Only one country in the world fills a whole continent. That country is Australia. The continent it fills is Australia, too. Australia, then, is both a country and a continent. If someone wants to make clear that he is speaking of the country, he may call it by its full name of Commonwealth of Australia. Sixty million years ago Australia and its nearby islands were separated from the rest of the world by a great upheaval. They were cut off from Asia by the ocean. Very few people and almost no animals visited Australia before English colonists began to settle there in 1788. During all those 60 million years the native Australian mammals developed by themselves, undisturbed by the animals developing elsewhere. Australia is the only continent except Antarctica that is all sout...

Austraalia on maailma suurim villa tootja.

Austraalia on maailma suurim villa tootja.

4000 km from east to west. There are also many different seas around Australia, like the Coral and the Tasman Seas in the west or the Timor and the Arafura Seas in the north, where the Indian and the Pacific Oceans meet. Because all seas and oceans near Australia are warm, surfing is a very popular hobby. Political subdivision Australia is divided into six states, which are: · New South Wales · Victoria · Queensland · South Australia · Western Australia · Tasmania New South Wales is the most populous state in Australia. Its capital is Sydney. Victoria is one of the most densely populated states in Australia. Its capital city is Melbourne and it was named after the British Prime Minister Lord Melbourne. Reasons why human beings are unique

they (chimps) are not." We have our advanced language skills to thank for that. We may see evidence of basic linguistic abilities in chimpanzees, but we are the only ones writing things down. We tell stories, we dream, we imagine things about ourselves and others and we spend a great deal of time thinking about the future and analysing the past. We have a fundamental urge to link our minds together There's more to it, Thomas Suddendorf, an evolutionary psychologist at the University of Queensland in Australia is keen to point out. We have a fundamental urge to link our minds together. "This allows us to take advantage of others' experiences, reflections and imaginings to prudently guide our own behaviour. "We link our scenario-building minds into larger networks of knowledge." This in turn helps us to accumulate information through many generations. We connect up our brains, and it's one of our defining traits (Credit: SPL)
