My mom and I had pooled our resources to supplement my winter wardrobe, but it was still scanty. It all fit easily into the trunk of the cruiser. "I found a good car for you, really cheap," he announced when we were strapped in. "What kind of car?" I was suspicious of the way he said "good car for you" as opposed to just "good car." "Well, it's a truck actually, a Chevy." "Where did you find it?" "Do you remember Billy Black down at La Push?" La Push is the tiny Indian reservation on the coast. "No." "He used to go fishing with us during the summer," Charlie prompted. That would explain why I didn't remember him. I do a good job of blocking painful, unnecessary things from my memory. "He's in a wheelchair now," Charlie continued when I didn't respond, "so he can't drive anymore, and he offered to sell me his truck cheap." "What year is it?" I could see from his change of expression that this was the question he was hoping I wouldn't ask.
I retold it to dozens of people over the subsequent month, and the response was always the same: agreement and nodding. This book, it seemed, had to be written. The wider world thinks I'm obsessed with time management, but they haven't seen the other --much more legitimate, much more ridiculous--obsession. I've recorded almost every workout I've done since age 18. I've had more than 1,000 blood tests1 performed since 2004, sometimes as often as every two weeks, tracking everything from complete lipid panels, insulin, and hemoglobin A1c, to IGF-1 and free testosterone. I've had stem cell growth factors imported from Israel to reverse "permanent" injuries, and I've own to rural tea farmers in China to discuss Pu-Erh tea's e ects on fat-loss. All said and done, I've spent more than $250,000 on testing and tweaking over the last decade.
Sylvia Day Bared to You Sylvia Day Bared to You The first book in the Crossfire series, 2012 This one is for Dr. David Allen Goodwin. My love and gratitude are boundless. Thank you, Dave. You saved my life. Acknowledgments My deepest gratitude to my editor, Hilary Sares, who really dug into this story and made me work for it. Basically, she kicked my ass. By not pulling her punches or letting me shortchange the details, she made me work harder and because of that, this story is a much, much better book. BARED TO YOU wouldn't be what it is without you, Hilary. Thank you so much! To Martha Trachtenberg, copy editor extraordinaire. This book is an important one for me and she treated it that way. Thank you, Martha! To Victoria Colotta, for all her hard work on the i
nonetheless a warrior for his people. He understands his role in defence of his people and other people with lesser means. You see, you have to admire the Caucasian as well. He has done a lot of good in this world as well as bad. I admire his tenacity. Though it resulted in millions of my people being taken as slaves to the New World, America, I can still duff my hat to a small group of individuals who had the tenacity to cross the Atlantic ocean to open America to the world. You also have to admire the courage of the small group of diabolical individuals who set out to invade Africa and take our people as slaves. They braved the inhospitable environment and maneuvered our forebears into handing our brothers and sisters to them. A capitalist Nigger must develop the same killer instinct and death-wish as the Caucasian. He must develop this killer instinct as if he is to succeed in laying this assault on the corporate world. He must
