Film review The Shawshank Redemption was filmed by Frank Darabont in 1994. A film based on a story by Stephen King. Film was not a best-seller, but but managed to earn recognition both critics and audiences. Budget was $ 25 million and fees movie was $ 60 million. The picture tells the story of Andy Dufresne, a former vice president of the bank, went to prison Shawshank, from which no one has yet managed to escape. For the murder of his wife and her lover, Dyufreyna sentenced to life imprisonment, as all witnesses and evidence against him, but he pleaded not guilty. Almost all the events of the film take place in Shawshank - the place where people who have committed certain crimes, serving sentences of imprisonment. Here person gets one, and leaves totally different. For many prisoners, the prison is already they home, because, after spending many years, when you go out, there may be nothing left that you so dearly: no home, no family, no friends. Life there consists of routine,
Actually everything illegal belongs there. And those who do it, they should be burned alive. There is no cure for being a thief, arsonist or a murderer. Only death can cure it. It is easy to become a criminal. For example, if you get sacked from your job, yet you have a family to feed, then it is easy to pocket some wallets or purses on the street and sell them. That would be the begining of a most likely long cycle, that usually ends with death or imprisonment. It is not easy to escape that cycle, because once a criminal- allways a criminal! Juss Kärner 10C
No trip to London would be complete without a visit to the Tower of London. This famous historical site has been the living quarters of monarchs. It has been a site of imprisonment and execution of many traitors, clergymen, nobles and framed members of the royal court and was also an armory, treasury, zoo and mint. Today it houses the crown jewels and has a museum filled with armor, weapons and implements of torture. Another popular tourist sight is the London eye. Constructed by British Airways, it towers 135 meters above the banks of the Thames River. It is located near Big Ben and Westminster Abbey, on the opposite bank, adjacent to London's county hall

but in reality it doesn’t go like that. Even if they get out of prison or pay their fine, they usually fall back to their old ways and commit another crime. Criminals have different backgrounds so they have different reasons for their actions. Some come from damaged homes, others may have been influenced by their friends or community they live in, for excample getthos, some may have commited a crime out of lifes circumstances. During and after their imprisonment criminals should get some mental help. A psychologist could figure out what is the reason for their criminal activity and could give them advice. If the criminal has some serious financial issues that he has not caused he should be given a job so that he could run his life back on tracks. I think that criminals should not just be sent to jail but given mental and reasonable financial help because otherwise there is no chance to raise a better community.

Criminals have different backgrounds so they have different reasons for their deeds. Some come from broken homes, some may have been influenced by their friends, some may have commited a crime out of lifes circumstances, for example poverty, and some crimes might happen by an accident, by human error. worst criminals from society and should prove much safer for the rest of us. It is self- evident that dead criminals cannot commit any further crimes, either within prison or after escaping or being released from it. Another advantage of capital punishment is that country can have minor costs in prison. In other words, the country may very well better spend our (limited) resources on the old, the young and the sick etc., rather than on the long term imprisonment of murderers, rapists, etc. However, there are a number of incontrovertible arguments against the death penalty. The most important disadvantage of capital punishment is the virtual certainty that genuinely innocent people will be executed and that there is no possible way of compensating them for this miscarriage of justice. Another disadvantage of capital punishment is the hell the innocent family and
Now i want to talk about similarities. I previously talked about parliaments and that leads me to the first similarity: in both systems the head of the parliament is Prime Minister, current Prime minister in United Kingdom is Theresa May and in Estonia Taavi Rõivas. The second similarity is the election to the parliament in both countries you have to be at least 21 years old and there are some other criterias to match like mental health and imprisonment. And in both countries you have to be at least 18 years old to vote. When you think about it like that there is not too much in common, but at least these two systems have the same mission to handle to keep these two totally different countries operative. And thats it.
people are as mature as to have such forgiveness in them. On the other hand this type of forgiveness cannot be a groundsel for the larger community, because it requires that you should really know the person that is in question. The Gallup Death Penalty Poll has shown that in the year 2008 64% of Americans were in favour of the death penalty and 30% were against it. The results have mostly stayed the same over the years. Although, if the question was to choose between the death penalty or life imprisonment, with absolutely no possibility of parole, then the public was more divided. The reasons for being against capital punishment can be that there is always a possibility for error and the person who has been sentenced to death was actually innocent. There can be extenuating circumstances like growing up in a traumatic environment, where they have been neglected or treated violently. Capital punishment should be carried out only if there is absolutely no doubt that the accused
can seem very distant to us now. But quite often living conditions in the world today remain very unfavorable. Homosexuality is discriminated against everywhere: in at least 80 countries, homosexual acts are forbidden by law (Algeria, Senegal, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Bosnia...); in many countries, the punishment can exceed ten years in prison (Nigeria, Libya, Syria, India, Malaysia, Jamaica...); sometimes, the law prescribes life imprisonment (Guyana, Uganda). And in a dozen countries, capital punishment may be actually carried out (Afghanistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia...). In Africa, recently, several presidents have brutally acted on their will to combat personally this "scourge" which they consider "anti-African". Even in other countries where homosexuality is not considered a crime, persecutions have multiplied. In Brazil, for example, death squads and skin heads spread terror: 1,960 homophobic murders have been

similarities and differences in structure, goals, punishment and emphasis on rights as well as the history and political stature of different systems. It is common to broadly categorize the functions of a criminal justice system into policing, adjudication (i.e.: courts), and corrections, although other categorization schemes exist. Comparativists study the four different types of societies, their methods of enforcement and their different types of punishment such as capital punishment, and imprisonment. Within these societies they study different types of legal tradition and analyze the issues they solve and create. They use their information in order to learn effective ways of enforcing laws, and to identify and solve problems that may arise within a system due to its methods.

The lawbreakers must pay 12-1200 euros or they can be arrested for 1-30 days. Arrest can be sentenced (a punishment given by a judge) only by a court. Legal persons (a company that has full legal rights and responsibilities according to the law) may be imposed fines ranging from 32 to 32,000 euros. Crimes can be first and second degree crimes. The first-degree crimes are the most serious and can be penalized (to punish someone) by imprisonment (to put into prison) over 5 years or a life imprisonment. Imprisonment can penalize second degree crimes up to 5 years or a fine. ____________________________________________________________________ 12. Jack London Jack London, whose life symbolized the power of will, was the most successful writer in America in the early 20th Century. His vigorous stories of men and animals against the environment, and survival against hardships were drawn mainly from his own experience. An illegitimate child, London passed his childhood in poverty in the Oakland slums. At the age of 17, he ventured to sea on a sealing ship. The turning point of his life was a thirty-day imprisonment that was so degrading it made him decide to turn to education and pursue a career in writing. His years in the Klondike searching for gold left their mark in his best short stories; among them, The Call of the Wild, and White Fang. His best novel, The Sea-Wolf, was based on his experiences at sea. His work embraced the concepts of unconfined individualism and Darwinism in its exploration of the laws of nature. He retired to his ranch

flowering so radical and profound that compared to it the flowering of plants, no matter how beautiful, is only a pale reflection? Can human beings lose the density of their conditioned mind structures and become like crystals or precious stones, so to speak, transparent to the light of consciousness? Can they defy the gravitational pull of materialism and materiality and rise above identification with form that keeps the ego in place and condemns them to imprisonment within their own personality? The possibility of such a transformation has been the central message of the great wisdom teachings of humankind. The messengers – Buddha, Jesus, and others, not all of them known – were humanity’s early flowers. They were precursors, rare and precious beings. A widespread flowering was not yet possible at that time, and their message became largely misunderstood and often greatly distorted. It certainly did not transform

Estonian communists (the whole group consisted of no more than 150 members), acted immediately, with the support of the occupying Soviet troops, power was transferred into the hands of the communists in the same month. After crudely falsified “elections” the new authorities declared Estonia a Soviet Republic and in August it was officially incorporated into the USSR. Everything was to be reshaped according to the Soviet model; it included terror, imprisonment and deportation. The eminent statesmen General Johan Laidoner (Commander-in-Chief of the Estonian Army), President Konstantin Päts, Premier Kaarel Eenpalu, ex-Premier Jaan Tõnisson and many other prominent public figures were arrested and, with thousands of others, either died or disappeared without trace in the Soviet prison camps. The sweeping deportation action in June 1941 wiped out any illusions about the communist rule. During the first Soviet year, approximately 19,000
