This vision must be of a world that we all want, a world that provides permanent prosperity within the Earth’s biophysical constraints in a fair. At the centre of the idea of sustainability is an ethical imperative to pass on a undiminished future to our children. To bring our world toward sustainability — or any other goal — we need to take different kinds of steps, which require different kinds of knowledge, talent, skill, and work. Future will be sustainable when citizens are concerned enough about the environment that they want to make a difference. It will happen when diverse groups from industry, environment, schools, service clubs, business, governments & the public come together and work towards a common vision of sustainability for our communities - bal...

Anna-Maria THE VALUE OF THINGS VS THE PRICE OF THINGS The price and value of things has changed a lot of over the times. Every person value things variously. It depends on people, what they think is important for them, some people value expensive things like diamonds or highly rated technology, some people on the other value things that are not financially valuable, like family, love or friends. The value of things is quite different from the price of things. A good example to prove it, is Apple. The price of Apple products are simply overrated. Iphone is like any other phone, but people buy it just to be popular and because everyone else are buying them. For Apple it is good of course, because they are serving benefits. Other example are designer clothes. The value of these clothing items are like clothes from basics s...

Television is little more than a waste of time There is no doubt that the emergence of television is one of the most revolutionary events in the twentieth century. Almost everyone has a TV at home and watches it every day. Nowadays, people consider watching television as a sign of lazyness or boredom. I think that television has also some good sides and it is a little more than a waste of time. First of all, I think that TV is mainly a source of information. We have channels that show information about other countries politics, economy or other news. In that way we can stay informed with the events that are happening from all over the world. Lessons for the future Education seems to be in government's, media's and people's spotlight all the time. Times change and education, as one of the most important areas of our society, needs constant reforming. Nowadays, the main focus seems to be on subjects like maths, physics, chemistry etc. because of current IT-era demands more knowledge in those regions than in humanities. I agree that Estonia's government's steps towards making maths and physics our school- system's top priority is quite right, but I think that there can be a lot more done to improve our educational structure. I find that Estonian schools should pay more attention to teaching our children current state in our political landscape. Kids, who go to school, are our future and soon-to-be full- right voters in national elections. They will become old and independent enough to be a part of deciding process over their coun...

The Importance of English History Essay There is not a single country in the world without a history it can be either long or short, yet still a unique part of the existence. England has had many colourful events throughout the history, but some have dominated over the others and therefore all together formed a country we can see nowadays: the Great Britain. Starting from the beginning, Britain was part of the mainland until about 6000 BC, when it became an island. Ever since then it has been developing slightly different from the other part of the Europe. For example, when two parts separated, some animals had already adopted the life on the island and did not move back to the mainland. They suited their appearance more comfortable for the isolated island and learned how to survive in the wet climate and rather heavy air. The first inhabitants the Iberians also h...
How far can we go being tolerant? Tolerance- it is the willingness to accept or tolerate somebody ot something especially opinions or behaviuor that you may not agree with, or people who are not like you. When we speak about tolerance and being tolerant, then of course all of us do not have the same opinion about tolerance. There is saying that there are as many different opinions as people in the world and talking about tolerance is not different. How we tolerate other people and their behaviour depends a lot of how we are raised and educated, where we live and who we connect to When we hear word ,,tolerant" then mostly we connect it with homo sexuals, racism, religion and all kinds of different people(disabled people for example) and how we tolerate those things. Speaking of homo sexuals then for me they are same people as I am and I have nothing against them. I only would not like if homo se...

If you bothered to waste your brain you could think that about every other person actually. It must be said that the Lila looks cool and stylish. Her style has become a trend even though she doesn't admit to it. She sees herself as one of a kind. At least that is what she wishes she could be. She mustn't be mistaken for the labels girl. Lila hates all kinds of labels. She never wears Guess or D&G even though she could very well afford them. She does all her shopping in second hand stores. She is trying so hard to keep the locations secret, not to have competition. Even though she actually shops a lot in her own secret places Lila doesn't have a decent pair of jeans or black pants. Attraction of blogs People have always loved to share their thoughts. It is very common that people write those thoughts down, usually into their secret diaries. Nowadays individuals write public blogs, which using has grown quite popular. In my opinion, blogs have become more fashionable than keeping private diaries, because they are public. Everyone has access and a chance to read your own personal views. Report The aim of this report is to compare Estonian and British students opinion on educational system. We wrote down our opinion on the 6th of september 2012 in our english class. We had 12 students who gave an opinion about the Estonian educational system. Corporal punishment is illegal in British and Estonian schools. 62% of British childrens think that it would be needful but only 31% Estonian childrens have the same opinion. Actually it could be not banned, because if they used controlled corporal punishment it is not likely to be harmful. I would argue that there were actually fewer discipline problems back in the old days when corporal punishment was more common. Most school in England require children to wear school uniform. Estonian children no longer wear uniforms but few decades ago they wore uniforms. 74% British students and 39% Estonian students believes that school uniforms ...
its better to have any religion then to be atheist. We live in the 21th century where democracy and freedom of different kinds dominate in most parts of the world. Freedom of worship is not an exception, therefore people can believe or not believe in anything they want. According to this many people decided not to have any religion at all and called themselves ,,atheists". These people believe in their own physical and moral forces only, but now and here i will try to persuade the reader that having a God or some deity is better than to be godless. First reason, why it is better to be a religous person than atheist, is your spiritual and mental safety because if you belive in God , you will always have someone to rely on even in the worst situations, and you will never give up as you would probably do, if you stayed against the misery alone, on your own. Secondly, i would like to point out that with having a God to believe in your every...

What does "being free" mean? Freedom plays an important role in our everyday life. It is hard to understand what "being free" mean as every person has his own view on it, which depends on our lifestyle and upbringings. There are a lot of kinds of freedom in the modern world. It can affect on people`s life positively as well as may cause different problems. To begin with, there are certain arguments in favour of being free. Firstly, people in developed countries have a freedom of speech. As a result, democratic policy in such regions offers a great opportunity to citizens to have their opinions heard and be considered. Moreover, some people suggest that being free mean material independence. If a man provide himself (materially), he is able to act as he wants to do it. In spite of having many advantages, being free may also be harmful for certain people. The most important disadvantage is that too much freedom in children`s upbringings ...

British Cuisine Some people criticize English food. They say it's unimaginable, boring, tasteless, it's chips with everything and totally overcooked vegetables. The basic ingredients, when fresh, are so full of flavour that British haven't had to invent sauces to disguise their natural taste. What can compare with fresh pees or new potatoes just boiled and served with butter? Why drown spring lamb in wine or cream and spices, when with just one or two herbs it is absolutely delicious? If you ask foreigners to name some typically English dishes, they will probably say "Fish and chips" then stop. It is disappointing, but true that, there is no tradition in England of eating in restaurants, because the food doesn't lend itself to such preparation. English cooking is found at home. So it is difficult to a good English restaurant with a reasonable prices. In most cities in Britain you'll find Indian, Chinese, French and Italian r...

Talk: TV is Little More Than a Waste of Time 4 min Television has become increasingly more popular through the years. Most Estonians have a TV or even several TV's at home. On one side, there are many people who think that television is just a waste of time and money. Some people spend hours in front of TV and it can be bad for your health. On the other side, It is thought that watching TV is a good way to relax. They like to be entertained after a long day and they believe that television can make you happier. I have to say that I understand both sides. I believe that television can have a negative effect on children because there is so much violence in movies and TV shows. Also watching TV can make you lazy. It's physically, mentally, and emotionally lazy. It requires no physical, mental, or emotional participation It's an addictive excuse that keeps people from leaving the house and communicating with real people. The commercials ...
