skating, figure-skating, football, basket-ball, volley-ball, etc. We have fine teams at our school and different kinds of competitions take place there. The boys of my school are crazy about football, they play football and the girls are football fans. The girls never miss a single match played by school teams. And now a few words about our physical training lessons. In winter our physical training lessons are held out-of-doors. We go skiing or skating. When it is cold outside P.T. lessons are held indoors, in our school gymnasium. We play different team-games such as basket-ball or volley-ball. Besides we have some training in gymnastics. In autumn and in spring, when the weather is warm we have P.T. lessons at our school stadium. My school has a sports day once a year in late spring. On this day we have no lessons. All the competitors change into their sports clothes, the spectators find their seats round the track ready to cheer

today. In 1963, skateboarding was at a peak of popularity, and companies like Jack's, Hobie and Makaha started holding skateboarding competitions.. Torger Johnson, Woody Woodward and Danny Berer were some well known skateboarders at this time, but what they did looked almost completely different from what skateboarding looks like today! Their style of skateboarding, called "freestyle", is more like dancing ballet or ice skating with a skateboard. Then, in 1965, skateboarding's popularity suddenly crashed. Most people assumed that skateboarding was a fad that had died out, like the hoola hoop. Skateboard companies folded, and people who wanted to skate had to make their own skateboards again from scratch. But people still skated, even though parts were hard to find and boards were home made. Skaters were using clay wheels for their boards, which was extremely dangerous and hard to control

Iluvõimlemine (kokkuvõte inglise keeles) Competitive rhythmic gymnastics

Competitive rhythmic gymnastics began in the 1940s in the Soviet Union. The FIG formally recognized this discipline in 1961, first as modern gymnastics, then as rhythmic sportive gymnastics, and finally as rhythmic gymnastics. The first World Championships for individual rhythmic gymnasts was held in 1963 in Budapest. Rhythmic gymnastics was added to the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, with an individual all-around competition. However, many federations from the Eastern European countries were forced to boycott by the Soviet Union. Canadian Lori Fung was the first rhythmic gymnast to earn an Olympic gold medal. The group competition was added to the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Olympic rhythmic gymnastics is typically restricted to female participants, although Japan has begun developing programs in which men can compete and in Spain, men are allowed to participate in women's competitions. The men's program has yet to be formally recognized by the FIG, however, and men cannot

Extreme Sports Ice Climbing Ice climbing is an activity of climbing through ice structures or formations. These ice formations may be in the form of frozen waterfalls, icefalls or rocks covered with frozen water flow or ice, or they may be ice structures that are artificially structured. Ice climbing is a crucial part of any mountaineering activity or training. Ice climbing competitions are a sport for a small group of climbing specialists. But the big difference of ice-climbing from other "non mass sports" is, that it is also very interesting for spectators and media. As a matter of fact, ice climbing is a fairly new Competition Sport. The first known ice climbing competition was organized in Courmayeur on the Brenva glacier in 1912. Ice climbing competitions started in Russia (at that time the Soviet Union) and have been held each winter since 1970. There were three discipline

Sports. Sports has a very old history. The ancient Olympic Games were the first big sports competitions. The history of the Olympic Games is linked with many myths referred to in ancient sources, but in the historic years their founder is said to be Oxylos whose descendant Ifitos later rejuvenated the Games. According to the tradition, the Olympic Games began in 776 B.C. when Ifitos made a treaty with Lycourgos the king and famous legislator of Sparta and Cleisthenes the king of Pissa. In this treaty that was the decisive event for the development of the sanctuary as a Panhellenic centre, the "sacred truce" was agreed. That is to say ceasing of fighting in all of the Freek world for as long as the Olympic Games were on. The Olympic Games were held, after the completion of four years during the month of July or August. The time between two competitions was called the Olympiad. In the beginning the games last

The lifter's best valid attempt on each lift counts toward his competition total. Competitors are judged against other lifters of the same gender, weight class, and age. Powerlifting requires specialized training techniques that are focused on strength and explosive power. Traditional training methods dictated low repetitions with maximal weight. History Started to develop in the late 19th century, when weightlifting was just beginning to develop as a sport . Led by the United States and Great Britain, the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) was founded in 1973 and held the first world championships that year. That spurred the establishment of the European Powerlifting Federation in 1974. Currently, the IFP has more than 70 member c
