State or public education In Estonia the most of children attend state schools. However, in the last ten years the number of private schools has increased. What are the main differences between private and state secondary schools? Firstly, private schools are not free and parents ought to pay for their children is learning in a public school. But state schools are free and parents do not have to pay for education. Secondly, private schools are more strict than state schools. Another vital aspect is that public schools have a more strict evaluation system and there is a lot of homework. However when we compare state and public schools then it is seen that the results of examinations for students of private schools are higher than in state schools. On the one hand i know that well-off families prefer public education because it will give their children more opportunities. On the other hand when a lot of children learn in
British Cuisine Some people criticize English food. They say it's unimaginable, boring, tasteless, it's chips with everything and totally overcooked vegetables. The basic ingredients, when fresh, are so full of flavour that British haven't had to invent sauces to disguise their natural taste. What can compare with fresh pees or new potatoes just boiled and served with butter? Why drown spring lamb in wine or cream and spices, when with just one or two herbs it is absolutely delicious? If you ask foreigners to name some typically English dishes, they will probably say "Fish and chips" then stop. It is disappointing, but true that, there is no tradition in England of eating in restaurants, because the food doesn't lend itself to such preparation. English cooking is found at home. So it is difficult to a good English restaurant with a reasonable prices. In most cities in Britain you'll find Indian, Chinese, French and Italian restaurants. In London you'll also find Indonesian,
School uniform's pros and cons School uniforms are verry popular nowadays, mostly in private schools. But would school uniforms make our lives better? There is no doubt that school uniforms have many advantages. Firstly, they encourage discipline. It would also free children from the pressure to buy trendy clothes. All the childrens would be dressed in the same way and as a result it would cut out a school bullying, which is often used, because some children do not have money to buy expensive and fashionable clothes and they are bullied because of that. Children would not have to think about what to wear in the morning and parents save time taking children shopping and spending extra money. Children will be that much less focused on appearance and more on learning. However school uniforms are good there is some disadvantages too. ESTONIAN EDUCATION POLICY. MAIN PROBLEMS AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS Hanna-Loora Bobrov Since I was a teenager, I remember thinking of the school education quality. How to improve it, where teacher could be more efficient and how to make a better environment for the pupils. And now all these years later I am a young teacher and it is still important for me what is going on within my society in education. I believe I have some kind of advance of knowing what is really going on in Estonian schools and how the education policy really works. Because not long ago I finished the high school, before that changing a lot of different schools and I think I can say that I superficially know how different schools are working in various regions of Estonia. Being a student at the faculty of education has opened my eyes for a lot of different things, perspectives and helped a lot to understand deeper, why things are like they are.
