At the beginning of the novel he comes back from prison, because he killed a man in a fight accidentally, he is good nature. He is the most moral of the characters, he wants peace and quiet. Al is completely different, he is crazy for girls and cars. Rose is rather simple minded and she has a dream, she wants white house with a white fence, husband with a good income and children, and she is pregnant. His husband isn't as rich as she would like, he is quiet and hard working. The yougnest is cunning. They dont mind moving to California, before the starvaton begins. BOOK REPORT Title & author of the book: 'Anita and Me' by Meera Syal The setting of the book? The story resolves around Meena Syal, the daughter of the only Punjabi family in the Midlands' mining village of Tollington. The novel provides a vision of British childhood in the 1960s, a childhood caught between two cultures, each on the brink of enormous change. Meena is desperate to fit in with the other children in her neighbourhood while forever feeling like an outsider because she is "different". Eventhough the Punjabi family is well respected by the locals, there are still sutations when they have to deal with racism. Plot summary (NB! Use the present tenses) Anita and Me by Meera Syal is the story of a young Punjabi girl growing up in the fictional English village of Tollington in the Midlands in the 1960s. The book follows Meena during her pre-teen years as she is desperate to fit in with the other children in her neighbourhood while
the second-person pronouns in the Russian original. Gurov addresses Anna throughout as ty while she addresses him throughout as vy. Because of his unhappy marriage and the ease with which he had always been able to enter into brief aff airs, Gurov had long considered women "a lower breed." So now, aft er he and Anna have had sex, he addresses Anna as he would anyone who had proven herself to be of the "lower breed," with a slight degree of contempt.
