ALCOHOL Alcohol is a widely used substance for both science and in technology. Its name comes from an Arabic word al-kuhl meaning " a powder for painting the eyes". The term was later applied to all compounds that contain alcoholic spirits. To most people alcohol is considerd a downer that reduces activity in the nervous system. Some of the things alcohol effects you is, the alcohol intoxicated person exhibits lose muscle tone, loss of fine moter coordination, and often has a staggering "drunken" gait. The US government received no reports of societal abuses or discrimination based on religious belief or practice in 2007. Local products Beginning in the early 1990s, small-scale industries were encouraged, resulting in goods that are sold mostly in the local area at retail and wholesale stores. Examples of these locally produced products are beer, furniture, and noodles. Otherwise, agricultural products have been the main commodities for sale. Attitudes to alcohol Data from the Customs Department and from a local manufacturer show that the per capita consumption of pure alcohol among those 15 years and older in 1994 was 0.7 liters. This level is far below that of many other South Pacific nations reflecting, in part, the fact that some 90% of the Solomon Island's population live in rural villages where they have only limited involvement in the cash economy. It also reflects the
Short and long term effects of alcohol Good morning. My name is NIMI. I'm going to talk about short and long term effects of alcohol consumption. Firstly I'll tell you about short term effects and then move on to long term effects. My presentation will take about 5 minutes. If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask them afterwards. Firstly I would focus on the short term effects of alcohol consumption. The amount and circumstances of alcohol consumption play a large part in determining the extent of intoxication; for instance, consuming alcohol after a heavy meal causes alcohol to absorb more slowly. Hydration also plays a role as for determining the extent of hangovers. Initially, alcohol produces feelings of relaxation and cheerfulness, but as a result of further consumption blurred vision and coordination problems generally occure. As far as cell
Should advertisements promoting alcohol be banned? Nowadays lots of people drink alcoholic drinks. While I think that drinking alcoholic drinks is up to every person himself, I am strongly opposed to advertisements promoting alcohol. Firstly, seeing, for example, a cold bottle of beer with water drops on it on TV is very tempting. It looks so beautiful and fresh and that makes you think that you have to buy it. Usually people do not think that it looks good only on TV and those drinks are harmful for health. Furthermore, advertisements promoting alcohol show that drinking alcohol makes people cooler and parties better. In these advertisements all the people are smiling,
Consignments of item(s) not exceeding a total intrinsic value of 22 may be imported without payment of VAT. The practical effect of the different monetary limits is that consignments where the intrinsic value is between 22.01 and 150 will qualify for relief from Customs Duty but VAT will still be chargeable. However, it should be noted in particular that there is no relief (from Customs Duty, VAT or excise duty) under this negligible value provision for importations of tobacco products, alcohol products, perfumes or toilet waters irrespective of their value. While this exemption is not confined to private importations, care should be taken to ensure that relief is not granted in respect of single parcels which form part of a larger consignment exceeding the monetary limits. 5. GIFTS 5.1 General Relief from payment of Customs Duty and VAT is allowed on gifts consigned to an individual living in Ireland, from outside of the EC, provided the Customs value of the
What is addiction? Addiction is being adicted to something and it can be anything. Mostly, when people hear word addiction, they think about drugs, sigarets and alcohol but it can be a person, some food or work. People fall in addiction in my opinion because they get used to something or someone and then they dont want to let go anymore. After a while they start to think that they cant live without it, he or she. Firstly i would like to talk about drug addiction. Mostly people start doing drugs when their lives get realy hard and they think theres nothing left anymore to live for or thanks to bad compani

There should be a complete ban on the advertising of dangerous products like cigarettes and alcohol There are many legal but dangerous products like cigarettes and alcohol that get a lot of advertising. You can see those advertisements almost everywhere, from streets to television. Should they be banned? Are they useful? Most of these ads are meant for people who don't smoke or drink alcohol and since most of the adults already do one or both of them, they are mainly made for children. It's not like the tobacco or alcohol companies would agree with me on that, but this is how I see it. That makes me agree with the ban, to keep children away from bad habits. People who already smoke or drink mostly don't care about the advertisements and are not affected by them. It can clearly be seen that such adverts are only useful for the companies who gain money from new "addicts"

"People these days are thinking less and drinking more'' Nowadays, alcoholism is rising and this is a big problem not only amongst teenagers but also amongst adults. When there is a problem or a difficult situation people do not think how can they solve it. They think, "Where is my bottle of vodka?'' There are several possible solutions to this problem. What clearly needs to be done is to encourage people to handle their problems without using alcohol. Firstly, we have to teach them that thinking clearly is more effective than thinking with an alcohol bottle. Secondly, we should tell them that they have got supportive friends whom they can rely on. Another suggestion is that the media should not promote drinking. Commercials are very effective with teenagers because commercials are very colourful and memorable. Also, when teenagers see some beautiful advertisement with lots of people who are having a party with

unemployed and when they don't have the required resources they might have to satisfy their needs by criminal ways, but it is also possible to live on the unemployed benfits given by the country. These benefits also have a negative impact on british society as many people might get lazy and find a way how to live only on the benefit for too many years. 5) As we all know alchol and drugs aren't healthy substances so they damage your health and body . Alcohol, tobacco and drug abuse related deaths from overdoses or associated diseases vary from 120,000 to 160,000 deaths a year. In addition to the increased quantities ,which means more drug crimes, the availabilty of drugs and the ease of getting alcohol has caused another big problem - the increasing use of unhealthy substances among young people as the use of alcohol and lighter drugs has increased twofold scince the year 2006.
human health. Lately attention is given to weight, especially by the younger females. At a verry early age people think that what thinner they are, the more beautyful and healtyer they are. They count calories, what they eat, do a lot of sports. Ofcourse there are some who tend to overstrain themselves, but mostly they do it within reason. We can find propacandas everywhere that want us to eat healthyer and hold our health. Lets start from smoking and drinking alcohol. Alcohol and tobaco shorten our lifetime crasually. Tobacco smoke is bad for our lung and alcohol is bad for our liver. Thats why all unhealthy products have a warning sign , tu make people more sane. Young people enjoy sports, because sport helps us keep a sane mind and a good and healthy look. How we look inflicts us anywhere. Verry many things depend on how we apear to other people. Including our future and love. A healthy person is happy and lovable and ofcourse he or she can love others
All definitions of drug abuse imply a negative judgement of the drug use in question. Some of the drugs most often associated with this term include alcohol, amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine and opium alkaloids. Use of these drugs may lead to criminal penalty. Other definitions of drug abuse fall into four main categories: public health definitions, mass communication and vernacular usage, medical definitions, and political and criminal justice definitions. Depending on the actual compound, drug misuse including alcohol may lead to health and
And if they don’t move it’s easy to get overweighted. One of the main problems why humans are unhealthy is not drinking enough water. You can buy many different flavoured drinks nowadays that are full of artificial colours and sugars. Drinking water is geting very unpopular especially among young people. Human body needs water to work proparly. One of the problems why we don’t have enough water in our bodies is alcohol. People drink cold alcoholic drinks in summer instead of water but alcohol carries out water from our bodies. To start living healthier, stay hydrated. Very easy way to live healthier and get in shape is doing sports. We have many sport activities nowadays, you just have to pick your favourite. But you have to keep in mind that you should do what makes you happy to have healthy mind. Don’t do sports what you don’t enjoy and

in Helsinki in 1985. In December 2006, it was estimated that Estonian criminals were responsible for 140 robberies of jewellery and watch stores in Finland, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Sweden during the last three years. The value of the lost property is estimated to be 25 million Euros.[1] Today transnational Estonian organised crime is predominantly about smuggling drugs, alcohol, and other illegal or high-tax goods from Russia to Finland, Sweden, and elsewhere in the Baltic Sea. Estonia is a relatively safe country, although there are some situations, where people should be more careful crime has been increased lately. We could count different type of crimes, but most common are smuggling and robberies. Many people like something, what do not belong to them. On the one hand, news are talking about shoplifting, bank robbery and vandalism

It has had a major effect on society and Portugal now has the second-lowest drug-induced death rate in EU. The Netherlands has a policy of toleration regarding soft drugs and its mortality rate is well below the EU average rate. Second reason why Estonia should consider decriminalizing cannabis is that there has never occurred death by overdosing cannabis. People do feel sick after abusing marijuana, but the effect is never like overdosing on alcohol or on other narcotic substances. According to Robert Gable “the least physiologically toxic substances, those requiring 100 to 1,000 times the effective dose to cause death, include psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana, when ingested. Gable has found no published cases in the English language that document deaths from smoked marijuana, so the actual lethal dose is a mystery. Gable’s surmise is that smoking marijuana is more risky than eating it but still safer than getting drunk by alcohol

Indeed, this comprehensive approach is well-suited for capturing the wide range of effects experienced and behaviors exhibited by drinkers under the influence of alcohol, often referred to as “drunken comportment” (MacAndrew & Edgerton, 1969).

Brazil's national drinks Caipirinha Caipirinha is Brazil's national cocktail, made with cachaça, sugar and lime. Cachaça is Brazil's most common distilled alcoholic beverage. While both rum and cachaça are made from sugarcane-derived products, most rum is made from molasses. Specifically with cachaça, the alcohol results from the fermentation of sugarcane juice that is afterwards distilled. The caipirinha is a national cocktail of Brazil, and is enjoyed in restaurants, bars, and many households throughout the country. Once almost unknown outside Brazil, the drink has become more popular and more widely available in recent years, in large part due to the rising availability of first-rate brands of cachaça outside Brazil. You've probably heard that drugs are bad for you, but what does that mean and why are they bad? Medicines Are Legal Drugs If you've ever been sick and had to take medicine, you already know about one kind of drugs. Medicines are legal drugs, meaning doctors are allowed to prescribe them for patients, stores can sell them, and people are allowed to buy them. But it's not legal, or safe, for people to use these medicines any way they want. Cigarettes and Alcohol Cigarettes and alcohol are two other kinds of legal drugs. (In Estonia, adults 18 can buy cigarettes and alcohol.) But smoking and excessive drinking are not healthy for adults and off limits for kids. Nicotine is the drug in tobacco leaves. Whether someone smokes, chews, or sniffs tobacco, he or she is delivering nicotine to the brain. Each cigarette contains about 10 milligrams of nicotine. Nicotine is what keeps people smoking despite its harmful effects. Because the

psychedelic rock as part of their anti-establishment lifestyle. Some hippies lived in communes or aggregated communities of other hippies. It kinda identifies with the famous “yolo” (You only live once) thinking. I’m not exactly sure if this can be put under the role of hippie movement in 21st century, but if I start to think about this, it is almost the same. Hippies in 1960’s used different drugs etc to expand their counsciousness; today’s (not only) hipsters use also drugs and alcohol to relax and get away from reality. This generation is a return to the hippie era. Among a select group of mostly college- graduates from more affluent, educated families, there is decided a turn away from consumerism and toward a more do-it-yourself ethos, where leaving a small footprint is the goal. They are seeking a connection in their work, and in their nonwork lives. In their nonwork lives this is exemplified by a quest for smaller, purer production, and an
What are the best ways to prevent teenagers from committing crimes Nowadays there are many reasons why teenagers could be influenced into committing crimes. A lack of life experience can lead teenagers into criminal and even dangerous situations, such as robbery, taking drugs or drinking alcohol. I think, there are many ways to prevent teenagers from committing crimes. Firstly, I think, that teenagers lifestyle is their parents responsibility. Parents have to teach teenagers how to control their anger. Also it shouldn't be allowed for teenagers to watch cruel movies with violence. Moreover there are different programs, which help teenagers to use communication as a mean of handle conflicts, arguments and misunderstandings. Also

They bring out inflammatory response Ibuprofen's action as a painkiller and fever-reducing compound is due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins It does this by interfering with the action of an enzyme called cyclooxygenase which catalyzes the conversion of a compound called arachidonic acid into prostaglandins 4 step Ibuprofen synthesis First step: Nucleophilic addition Reduction of the carbonyl group C=O by sodium tetrahydridoborate produces a secondary alcohol group CHOH. Second step: Sn1 nucleophilic substitution of the hydroxyl group To improve reactivity of alcohols the leaving anion OH is converted into H2O CH3)3COH + HCl (37%) (CH3)3COH2(+) Cl() (CH3)3C(+) Cl() + H2O (CH3)3CCl + H2O (SN1 ) Third step: During this step Grignard reagent is formed. Why? There are many ways to minimise teenage crime. Possible solutions 1. We have to enlarge collaboration with teenages. 2. More hobbies for them like sport or music 3. catch them in to joint action 4. more different interesting opportunities 5. Practice different social skills with him/her, such as greeting others, "breaking the ice," asking questions, and listening well. You also can role-play ways to resist peer pressure, such as offers of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs from other kids. 6. minimise narcotic drug and weapons accessibility 7. Fight against narcotic drugs. The fight against drugs is very important not only for preventing drug offences but for reducing crime as such. Conclusion I believe crime will only get better if the community, and our society, gets stronger. Today's young people need adult's interaction without this we can't prepare them for the transition from childhood to adulthood. 202 words
