COCA-COLA Have you ever come home from school, practice or whatever and felt soooo thirsty? So you walk towards the fridge and hope there's something cold to drink. You open the door of the fridge and start to smile, because you have seen a bottle of COCA-COLA!! Coca- Cola is a carbonated soft drink sold in stores, restaurants and vending machines throughout the world. It is produced by The Coca-Cola Company and is often known as Coke. The Coca-Cola Company has introduced other cola drinks under the Coke brand name. The most famous of these are Coca-Cola Zero, Coca- Cola Light and Coca-Cola Cherry. Based on Interbrand's best global brand 2011, Coca-Cola was the world's most valuable brand. It was 1886, and in New York Harbour, workers were constructing the Statue of Liberty. But 800 miles away, in Atlanta, Georgia, another great American symbol was about to be come into being

The Coca-cola Company The History of Coca Cola In May, 1886, Coca Cola was invented by Doctor John Pemberton a pharmacist from Atlanta. Fank Robinson the bookkeeper of John Pemerton recommended to have Coca Cola for the name of the soft drink invented by Pemberton. Robinson also scripited the flowing Logo oF Coca Cola. The soft drink was first sold to the in Jacob's Pharmacy in Atlanta on May 8, 1886. About nine servings of the soft drink were sold each day. The first year of the sales were a big loss which is quite logical i think. Until 1905, the soft drink, marketed as a tonic, contained extracts of cocaine as well as the caffeine-rich kola nut sales went up strictly. On April 23, 1985, the trade secret "New Coke" formula was released. Instead, it is seen as an underachiever, sometimes as a sick man of Europe, and perhaps even as a potentially failed state thanks to its geopolitical situation, historical burdens, and the mistakes made in institutional development and policy. Economically, Ukraine has grown along with the region. As such, growth rates have not been low, but they come after the economically devastating 1990s and are not built on a 6 sustainable foundation. For years Russia provided Ukraine with underpriced gas while Ukraine's export prices increased rapidly. Over the decades Ukraine, however, grew dependent on oil and gas coming from Russia, at almost no cost. Today, 70 percent of gas consumed in the country is imported. In 1991 Ukraine was one of the poorest Soviet republics. Statistics for the time are notoriously uncertain, but the best ones available show Ukraine's GDP at just $1,307 per capita

THE CAPITALIST NIGER Chika Onyeani ………………………Every African must internalise this book - period….DAA INTRODUCTION In October 1960, Nigeria received its independence from Britain. By then, Ghana the former Gold Coast had been independent for three years under the great Osagyefo Kwame Nkumah. It was a time for celebrating Africa’s coming of age, as more and more African countries received their independence either from Britain or France. It was especially a poignant time for Africa, as then British Prime Minister Harold McMillan articulated his now famous “winds of change” sweeping Africa. We had high hopes for Africa, for the Black race, that the insidious imposition of foreign rule on us, the looting of Africa’s

with lime, sand, and water to form a mortar that did not disintegrate when exposed to water. It was used as a binder in piers and arch spandrels, and mass-formed in foundations. Coffer dams (temporary enclosures built in river beds to keep the water out while the foundations were established) were made by driving timber piles into the river bed, removing water from the area enclosed, and then excavating the soft ground inside. Despite the use of coffer dams, Roman bridge foundations typically were not deep enough to provide sufficient protection against scour. Most of the Roman bridges that survive are those built on solid rock such as the Pont du Gard aqueduct (c AD 14) near Nîmes (France), the Alcantara Bridge (AD 98) on the Spanish-Portuguese border, and the aqueduct at Segovia (AD 98), which are three of the most famous surviving Roman bridges and aqueducts

PLATINUM The platinum effect is found in some lines of Silver Persian/Chinchilla Longhair. In 1986/7, Cheryl Bennett reported in The Silver and Golden Persian Newsletter (ACFA) that one of her shaded silver females (Kelley Lane Contessa of WeANDE) had changed from pure silver to pale golden. Contessa’s parents were a shaded golden and a shaded silver; these were full siblings. At 10 – 12 months of age, Contessa began to “tarnish” i.e. show cream/reddish patches and by 3 years of age she was entirely pale golden. She produced a number of Silver Persians without tarnish, but she failed to produce any offspring when mated to a golden sire. One of Contessa’s male offspring turned from silver to golden as an adult. An adult Silver Persian from England (Lynchard Silver Shadow) was exported to Australia and also turned golden. Shadow had a few golden hairs on his paw, but did not turn golden until he was a year old when his coat turned to pale beige

Bibliography 205 Index 217 Preface As its title slyly suggests, this book is an introduction to the main issues in contemporary philosophy of language. Philosophy of language has been much in vogue since early in the twentieth century, but only since the 1960s have the issues begun to appear in high resolution. One crucial development in the past forty years is the attention of philoso- phers of language to formal grammar or syntax as articulated by theoretical linguists. I personally believe that such attention is vital to success in phi- losophizing about language, and in my own work I pay as much of it as I am able. With regret, however, I have not made that a theme of this book. Under severe space limitations, I could not expend as many pages as would be needed to explain the basics of formal syntax, without having to omit

I could see from his change of expression that this was the question he was hoping I wouldn't ask. "Well, Billy's done a lot of work on the engine -- it's only a few years old, really." I hoped he didn't think so little of me as to believe I would give up that easily. "When did he buy it?" "He bought it in 1984, I think." "Did he buy it new?" "Well, no.
