components what I try to describe in my essay. The most important part of construction is foundation because it keeps buildings in one piece. My house has a strip foundation which is taken 1,5m below the ground to protect the structure against ground movement and damages. Due to the fact that foundation transfer the dead and imposed loads of the structure onto the ground it must be very solid and strong. Our foundation is made of pre cast concrete blocks which has a damp-proof course made of mastics on external side. There are sleeper wall after the concrete blocks to support the basement floor slabs. Next primary elements are the walls. My house has four crosswalls which have load bearing and enclosing role. There are also a lot of internal division walls with dividing role. The crosswalls are made of lightweight concrete blocks. Behind the blocks are moisture barrier which is fixed with brick tie

Giza pyramids

Giza Pyramid The Pyramids of Egypt are the largest constructions ever built and they are one of the most potent and enduring symbols of Ancient Egyptian civilization. They were buildings, where the dead kings and queens were placed. The pyramids were built between 2575-2465 BC. There were used 2, 3 million blocks of stone to build the Great Pyramid. Each block of stone weighed 2.5 tons and about 20 men transported it. There was about 100,000 men working there and it took about 20 years to build the Giza pyramid. This is the formula of setting the blocks to the Giza Pyramid : 2,400,000 stones used ÷ 20 years ÷ 365 days per year ÷ 10 work hours per day ÷ 60 minutes per hour = 0.55 stones laid per minute. Giza is the location of the Pyramid of Khufu also known as the "Great Pyramid" and

Giza Pyramid

Pyramid complex The Great Pyramid of Giza is the main part of a complex setting of buildings that included two temples in honor of Khufu, three smaller pyramids for Khufu's wives, an even smaller "satellite" pyramid and small Mastaba tombs surrounding the pyramid for nobles. There was a town for the workers of Giza, which included a cemetery, bakeries, a beer factory and a copper melting complex Giza's Materials The Great Pyramid consists of more than 2.3 million limestone blocks. The Egyptians got the majority of the limestone blocks from a nearby quarry. The Tufa limestone, used for the casing, was quarried across the river. The largest granite stones in the pyramid, found in the "King's" chamber, weigh up to 80 tonnes and were transported more than 900 kilometers away from Aswan. King's Chamber At the end of the lengthy series of entrance ways leading into the interior is the structure's main chamber, the King's Chamber. The

BABA IS YOU

BABA IS YOU Game REVIEW Baba is You, developed by Hempuli Oy, is a sokoban-pushing puzzle game with a twist of rules manipulation. In this 2D game, the internal rules are presented as pushable blocks and you main goal is to push these blocks around and then combine these words to form new rules to solve puzzles. Unlike other puzzle games that require you to follow rules to complete levels, Baba is You encourages you to break rules and also gives you enough freedom to create new rules to level up. I know, the idea sounds really interesting and smart! The game doesn’t have too many instructions and it only has characters and corresponding objects on each stage. Players may be confused about how to

Although the site offers an outstanding view, it is not protected from the wind. It can, in fact, become quite chilly in the evenings. Features Hillside has large shower block consisting of 10 showers and toilets for men and the same for woman. However, the cleanliness of the shower and toilet blocks is not of an acceptable standard. There is a bus service to the village, yet it is inconvenient as since it runs only every 30 or 60 minutes. Hillside also has launderette, a restaurant and a bar, although the restaurant and bar are expensive. Conclusion On the face of it, Hillside Camping offers an outstanding view, a bar and a restaurant. However, the facilities are below standard. Taking everything into account, I would not recommend including this site in our brochure.

How NASCAR Engines Work

It only takes 20 minutes to burn a full tank of gas. The temperature inside a NASCAR V-8 engine can reach 2000 degrees Fahrenheit the pressure can reach 1500 psi, or more than 100 times the normal air pressure we feel around us every day. Some parts exposed to the worst of an engine's extreme heat use special metals to keep them from melting and fusing with another part of the engine. NASCAR rules 1)carburated V-8 with iron block 2) NASCAR also requires teams to use blocks, cylinders and intake manifolds made from castings of approved manufacturers 3) NASCAR places strict limits, for instance, on how engine cylinders are bored THANK YOU!

Housing

Private property and public property The importance of ,,home" Individuality and conformity Interiors: the importance of cosiness Owning and renting Homelessness The future Houses, not flats Detached house not only ensures privacy, it is also a status symbol. Even a modest detached house, surrounded by garden, gives the rerequired suggestion of rural life. Most people would be happy to live in a cottage, and if this is a thatched cottage so much the better. Most people try to avoid living in blocks of flats. Flats, they feel, provide the least amount of privacy. The people who live in flats are those who cannot afford to live anywhere else. The dislike of living in flats is very strong despite of that they are very comfortable. People said they felt cut off from the world all those floors up. The new highrise blocks quickly deteriorated. Private property and public property Home as a castle implies a clear demarcation between private property and public domain.

Nice

The main place of interest is the promenade des Anglais, which is a celebrated promenade along the Mediterranean at Nice, France. It is a walkway along the sea, where you can enjoy amazing view and see many luxurious private ships. Another place worthy of visiting is the small street parallel to the promenade des Anglais; leading from Nice's downtown, beginning at Place Massena, and shadowing the promenade towards the airport for a short distance about 4 blocks. This area of the city is off limits to cars, and by eliminating traffic creates a more serene setting. On this small strip tourists can find a fine selection of restaurants, where you can try local cuisine, cafes and small shops for clothing, shoes as well as souvenirs. Don't miss out on a visit to Nice. With its´ sandy and unspoilt beaches, interesting places to visit and picturesque natural beauty, it will certainly be unforgettable.

Advantages and disadvantages of living in the countryside The first outstanding characteristic about the countryside is that it is beautiful and peaceful. The air is fresh and the surroundings green. This is because the countryside is free from pollution, land or noise pollution. Living in the countryside has a lot of advantages, but also many disadvantages. The places where people live affects greatly in their lifestyles and living places is one of the very basic needs for people. Wind energy vs oil shale

Wind power vs oil shale Introduction The purpose of this report is to analyse if wind power is better than power which is produced from oil shale. The report is based on EWPA (Estonian Wind Power Association) article which is published on their web page. Wind power It is said that the wind power is the most expensive source of power, but this statement is not plausible, because the recourse -wind- is for free. Calculations have shown that if new oil shale blocks were built, it would cost 3473 million EEK in a year per capita. On the other hand, if wind power were renewed in similar amount, it would cost only 868 million EEK per capita in a year. It means that if the wind power were renewed, it would be 17 370 millions EEK cheaper. The fact that wind energy saves resources and produces neither dangerous emissions nor toxic waste is also in favour of wind energy. Power from oil shale

English essay The Future of Education

The company will then offer those who pass the course a job. This will create a worker who will not be able to do his job without a computer. Teachers will take a backseat in these courses. There is also a chance that Teachers will have an easier job in the future, they will instruct the students only if needed. Also on the horizon are smart objects. These objects are geared more to small children then those that are in high school or college. Objects with animations such as building blocks that can talk and light up to indicate to a child how to stack them correctly. But that can also have an opposite effect, like the children will become addicted to the computers and such. That could be also fatal to the brain of the child. Then there is the good things for children who have problems with health. Like the development in the area of prosthetics. These new prosthetics are used to make education equal for all children

Bella thanks him for the gift and lets Jacob put it on her wrist. Jacob asks why she is distracted and tries to get her to explain what's going on. He pulls Embry and Quill over to hear the details just as Alice steps in. A fight nearly breaks out when Jacob blocks Alice from moving and Jasper immediately comes to her side, but Bella stops them. Alice explains that she has seen something and that the Cullens are heading to Seattle. In the discussion, Jacob steps in and demands an explanation. Upon hearing all the details, Jacob insists that the wolves be involved. Alice sees what he means and thinks it's excellent. Natural disasters

Often these meteoroids are burned away by our own natural meteor defence, the atmosphere. But sometimes, the atmosphere is not enough to defeat these icy space boulders, and they will come crashing into Earth causing destruction on a worldwide scale. Earthquakes and tidal waves are being released upon the world to wreak havoc are often the after effects. The Earth's winds also carry the dust, sent into the sky from impact, across the globe. This dust can become so thick that it blocks out the sun, killing off all life on the planet. But, for a counterweight to the meteors, humans are nearing completion of a worldwide tactical nuclear missile strike system, able to easily destroy any incoming meteoroids. Though this will also destroy our atmosphere and we really don't need that but that doesn't make the fact disappear that we have the system. In the end we are, every day, still at the mercy of nature and her disasters. We can only hope

St. Charles Church (Kaarli kirik)

By the end of 1850s, money was being raised collectivley in order to build a larger and more durable church for the use of Estonians. The construction lasted from October 1862 to December 1870, the two towers on the west side were enlarged in 1882. The architect of the project was Otto Pius Hippius from St.Petersburg. Along with the reconstruction of Tallinn’s largest place of worship, the Charles congregation was re-established as well. This time the church was built of hewn limestone blocks, in the historical neo- Roman style, on the basic plan on a Latin cross. The inside of the church is exceptionally large and open, the ceiling being supported by a special arch supporting system and the sides characterized with arched windows. The benches inside can fit a total of 1500 people. When the first service was held there, exactly 200 years after the consecration of the first wooden church, the reconstruction was not completely finished –

Bruce Willis - Kuulsa inimese kirjeldus

Walter Bruce Willis on sündinud endise Lääne-Saksa sõjaväebaasis 19. märtsil 1955. aastal. New Jersey's elas Bruce aktiivset lapsepõlve. Ta osales draamas Montclair State Kolledzhis, kus ta mängis klassi etenduses "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". Seejärel lahkus Willis koolist ning suundus New York'i. Willis hakkas taas baarmaniks, kuid sedapuhku poole...

Drugs and how they affect your health.

pleasurable feelings come from food, comfort, and the company of people you love. But smoking cigarettes causes a flood of dopamine in the smoker's brain. It's this flood of dopamine that gives the smoker intense feelings of pleasure. Normally, neurons reabsorb neurotransmitters after they've done their job of signaling other brain cells. But cigarette smoke causes dopamine to stay in the spaces between neurons called synapses. Researchers don't yet know exactly what component of tobacco smoke blocks the reabsorption of dopamine into neurons. In 40 minutes, half the effects of nicotine are gone. So smokers get the urge to light up for another dose of the drug. After repeated doses of nicotine, the brain changes. To adjust to too much dopamine, the brain cuts production of the neurotransmitter and reduces the number of some receptors. Now, the smoker needs nicotine just to create normal levels of dopamine in his or her brain. Without nicotine, the smoker feels irritable and depressed

Taj Mahal

Instead of lashed bamboo, workmen constructed a colossal brick scaffold that mirrored the tomb. The scaffold was so enormous that foremen estimated it would take years to dismantle. According to the legend, Shah Jahan decreed that anyone could keep the bricks taken from the scaffold, and thus it was dismantled by peasants overnight. A fifteen kilometer tamped-earth ramp was built to transport marble and materials to the construction site. Teams of twenty or thirty oxen were strained to pull blocks on specially constructed wagons. The plinth and tomb took roughly 12 years to complete. The remaining parts of the complex took an additional 10 years. Facts: The Taj Mahal was constructed using materials from all over India and Asia. Over 1,000 elephants were used to transport building materials during the construction. The translucent white marble was brought from Rajasthan, the jasper from Punjab, jade and crystal from China

Those blocks cover four main areas of a business: customers, offer, infrastructure and financial viability. Ukiyo-e art Ukiyo-e (?, lit. Pictures of the Floating World) is a Japanese print technique, which was very popular during the Edo period. The technique of printing from blocks of wood was introduced to Japan in the 8th century from China and was used principally for the illustration of Buddhist texts.[2] From the 17th century the technique began to be used for the illustration of poems and romances.[2] It was this period that really saw the rise of the style known as ukiyo-e. Description This impression is of the yoko-e type, in landscape, and was produced to the ban size, 25 centimetres high by 37 wide .

Artikli analüüs "Picture Memory"

Artikli analüüs `` Picture Memory `` Gordon H. Bower, Martin B. Karlin, Alvin Duek Üliõpilane: Ants Aasmets, SOPH, 3k. 1. “Praimimisega” mälu paremaks muutmist mälutehniliste ehk mnemooniliste võtetega on ka varasemalt kasutatud lingvistilistes uurimustes, kuid kas inimesed õpivad pilte talletama samamoodi, eriti kahetähenuslikke pilte?

IMPLEMENTATION The following section contains the actual `code' that the controllers are running. To simplify the understanding and to make the scheme more manageable, most of the implementation is divided into user functions. The functions themselves will be provided and described below. FIRST CONTROLLER In the first controller, blocks Mode1, Mode2, Mode3 and ChooseMod are associated with choosing the mode in which the system must be working. Extra describes the function of the pedestrian crosswalk button, StopLight Sequen insures that the stoplights are lighting up in the right sequence. Customs and behaviour patterns in Finland

Do not be surprised if no one comes to sit next to you on the bus. Remember privacy! Dishonesty is the worst sin of all to the Finns. Going to a sauna in Finland, even without clothes, has nothing to do with sex a sauna is a sacred place for the Finns. Remember to respect the nature. Nature is very close to a Finn's heart. Finnish society is very organised. Also, remember to queue! Silence at night is required in tower blocks normally after 10pm. The communal hallways usually have information on the times of silence. Do not disturb! The custom here is that both men and women will shake hands when introduced, or when meeting. Even children will often shake hands upon meeting guests.

The Renaissance

The Renaissance Between 14th and 16th century in Europe From French word rebirth It was an age of growth in Europe. New, powerful city states emerged. A new middle class had more and more money to spend. Great artists, writers and thinkers lived during this time. During the Middle Ages many people who lived in the countryside worked on the land that they got from the noblemen. In return, they were protected by them Between the middle and the end of the 14th century, the plague, also called "Black Death" killed almost half of Europe's population. It spread most rapidly in the larger cities where many people lived. This led to economic depression. When the plague slowly decreased in the 15th century, the population in Europe began to grow. A new middle class emerged --bankers, merchants and trades people had a new market for their services. People became wealthier and had more than enough money to spend. They bega...

My Town

1 During World War II Estonia was occupied by both German and Russian invaders, and Tallinn suffered heavily. The bombing of the city by the Soviet air force on 9 March 1944 left over 20,000 people homeless. During the Russian occupation which followed (and which lasted for five decades) attempts were made to Russify the local people. Large-scale industry was developed in Tallinn, workers were resettled from Russia and new blocks of flats sprang up on the outskirts to provide housing for the newcomers. Tallinn was the biggest grain-handling port in the Soviet Union. Russian speakers out- numbered Estonians in Tallinn. Estonia re-established its independence on 20 August 1991. There is still a large block of granite on Toompea which recalls the days when people barricaded Lossiplats (Castle Square) to prevent Soviet tanks gaining access. Modern Tallinn and places to visit

demolished a third of the buildings. When the armistice came in 1945 the area north of St. Paul's resembled a square mile of rubble. The high cost of reconstruction work delayed the diggers for a decade, and it wasn't completed until 1982. The resulting wash of concrete has been much derided down the years, but the original plans were of considerable note. They planned 2,000 apartments for 6,500 people some in tower blocks over 400-foot high (the tallest in Europe at the time). They also included a Museum of London, the Guildhall School of Music, and a fully-featured arts centre. Very few of the finished buildings are pleasing to the eye the complex is deathly grey and cramped, and it's all too easy to get lost in a dreary world of concrete constructs. The ugly Barbican redeems itself when it comes to culture. The Museum of

Artikli analüüs Peatükk 23, "Alcohol and Condoms"

Artikli analüüs Peatükk 23,`` Alcohol and Condoms`` Tara K.MacDonald, Mark P.Zanna and Geoffrey T.Fong, 1996 Üliõpilane: Ants Aasmets, SOPH, 3k. 1.

Inuit Culture

The word "Inuit" means "the people" in the Inuktitut language. Inuit Homes In the tundra, where Inuit communities are found, there are not many building materials. No trees grow in the tundra so houses can not be made from wood unless it is transported from elsewhere. However, during a large part of the year, the cold part, there is a lot of snow in the tundra. And it turns out that snow can be a very good construction material. In the winter, Inuit lived in round houses made from blocks of snow called "igloos". In the summer, when the snow melted, Inuit lived in tent-like huts made of animal skins stretched over a frame. Although most Inuit people today live in the same community year-round, and live in homes built of other construction materials that have to be imported, in the past Inuit would migrate between a summer and winter camp which was shared by several families. While circuit-switched telephony deals with the entire message, VoIP-based data transmission is packet-based, so that chunks of data are packetized (separated into units for transmission), compressed, and sent across the network--and eventually re-assembled at the designated receiving end. The key point is that there is no need for a dedicated link between transmitter and receiver. Packetizing voice data involves adding header and trailer information to the data blocks. Packetization overhead (additional time and data introduced by this process) must be reduced to minimize added latencies (time delays through the system). Therefore, the process must achieve a balance between minimizing transmission delay and using network bandwidth most efficiently--smaller size allows packets to be sent more often, while larger packets take longer to compose. On the other hand, larger packets amortize the header and trailer information across a
