Experiment - filmanalyse

women who identified as either GLB or heterosexual. The largest differences between GLB and heterosexual women were in the F1 frequency of /e/ and the F2 frequency of /oR/. The largest differences between the groups of men were in the F1 frequency of /e/ and /a/, and the spectral skewness of the fricative /s/. Experiment 2 showed that listeners' judgments of perceived sexual orientation were related to the acoustic parameters found to differ in Experiment 1: Listeners showed greater sensitivity to differences in men's sexual orientation when listening to words containing low front vowels than when listening to words containing back vowels. Moreover, Regression analyses showed that judgments of men's sexual orientation were influenced by /s/ skewness, the F1 frequency of low front vowels, and the F2 frequency of back vowels.

The experiment. What happens if all the props of modern living are removed? To help us find out, we asked the Joneses to turn back the clock fifty years and to switch off all their labour-saving gadgets and push-button entertainment for three days. We also wanted them to stop using their cars. The family, comprising Malcolm, 48, Carol, 43, and their four children Emma, 17, Richard, 14, Tamsin, 9, and Tom, 7, were not enthusiastic, but everyone, except for Emma, agreed to try

new under conditions of extreme uncertainty. This is just as true for one person in a garage or a group of seasoned professionals in a Fortune 500 boardroom. What they have in common is a mission to penetrate that fog of uncertainty to discover a successful path to a sustainable business. I learned about startup philosophy, which is used by both startups and more mature companies. This Book part´s are Vision, Define, Learn, Experiment, Leap, Test, Measure, Pivot or Preserve, Grow and Innovate. My favorite sentence from this book is “Those who look to adopt lean startup as a defined set of steps or tactics will not succeed. In a startup situation, things constantly go wrong.” I recommend this book for everybody who are interested about startup philosophy and investing. Kristiina Toomik

The invention of telephone

Alexander Graham Bell was an eminent scientist, inventor, engineer and innovator who intented the first telephone. His mother and his wife were both deaf and that was the main reason which caused his interest to hearing devices. Bell invented the telephone by accident when he was trying to invent a device that could send more than one telegram at the same time. His research on hearing and speech further led him to experiment with hearing devices which eventually culminated with the telephone in 1876. The first telephone didn't have a bell, so the caller had to tap the phone with a hammer to let the receiver know a call was being sent to them. It was Thomas Watson who invented the bell. Alexander Graham Bell founded The Bell Telephone Company in 1877 to build a nationwide telephone system. By 1881, there were 132 700 Bell telephones in homes. The telephone became one of the most popular methods of communication

Study of heat transfer coefficient in helical coil

Following this the readings from the three calibrated thermocouple were taken, (temperature of the bath and inlet and outlet temperatures of the water flowing inside the coil). This procedure was repeated with different flow rates of 0,00833 kg·s-1, 0,0113 kg·s-1, 0,0143 kg·s-1, 0,0173 kg·s-1 respectively and also with different agitations of 618 rpm, 980 rpm, 1342 rpm, 1703 rpm. When the outside of the bath was thermally isolated and the same experiment was carried out, the temperature of the bath reached a temperature of approximately 44oC 2.2.2 Unsteady state experiments The water in the isolated bath was heated up to approximately 80 oC, which was measured with a calibrated thermometer. The electrical heater was then switched off and a given flow rate of water was set inside the coil. The experiment began with starting a timer from zero and

The invention of the telephone inglise keel

The invention of the telephone The invention of the telephone is the culmination of work done by many individuals. The presumption for the development of the telephone goes back to the year 1833 were Carl Friedrich Gauss and Wilhelm Eduard Weber invented the electric transmission of signals in Göttingen which set the fundamental basis for the technology. This invention is recognized to be the first electromagnetic telegraph of the world. (The development of the modern telephone involved an array of lawsuits founded upon the patent claims of several individuals.) Some of the inventors who gave their contribution for inventing the telephone are: Innocenzo Manzetti - Innocenzo Manzetti considered the idea of a telephone as early as 1844, and may have made one in 1864. He is considered by many Italians as the inventor of the telephone. Johann Philipp Reis - In 1860 Reis was the first who produced a functioning electromagnetic device that...

Greetings and conversation *Australians are not very formal, so greetings are casual and relaxed – a handshake and a smile are appropriate. * English is the spoken language at business meetings. However, stick with standard terms; do not experiment with Australian terms. * Popular welcome topics include the weather, sports, anything related to Australia in a positive way is a good conversation starter. * Topics to avoid –religion and politics - unless the Australian counterpart brings it up. It is only knowledge produced with difficulty that we truly value. To what extent do you agree with this statement?

Edward Jenner observed people who had caught a disease called cowpox and noticed that they did not catch smallpox. His theory was that those who had been inoculated with cowpox would become immune to the smallpox virus. To support his theory he performed the world’s first vaccination on an eight-year-old boy by first inoculating the boy with cowpox virus and later with smallpox virus, without smallpox disease ever developing.2 There wasn’t much trial and error when it came to his experiment, he provided evidence for his theory and that’s how vaccinations came to be. This example shows that although little effort was put into obtaining this knowledge, in comparison to discovering the structure and function of DNA, it has a value but due to the lack of scientific studies the experiment was risky and unethical. It has taken years of research and development to actually obtain the correct knowledge about safely administering vaccinations

Kosmilised kiired

[2] Umbes 90% kosmiliste kiirte tuumadest on vesinikud (prootonid), umbes 9% on heeliumid (alfa osakesed) ja kõik teised elemendid moodustavad ainult 1%. Isegi selles ühes protsendis on väga haruldasi elemente ja isotoope. Need vajavad suuri detektoreid, et koguda piisavalt osakesi selleks, et öelda midagi olulist kiire allika ,,sõrmejälje" kohta. HEAO (The High Energy Astrophysical Observatory) Heavy Nuclei Experiment, millega alustati 1979, kogus ainult umbes 100 kosmilist kiirt milles esines elemente vahemikus 75-89 (grupp elemente millesse kuulub plaatinum, elavhõbe ja plii). Kasutatud detektor oli palju suurem kui enamus teaduslikke vahendeid mida kasutab NASA praegu. Et teha paremaid mõõtmisi on vaja veelgi suuremat detektorit ja mida suurem on detektor, seda suurem on selle maksumus.[2] 3 Kust need tulevad?

The wolves and the vampires intend to meet for a training session at 3:00 AM. Bella tells Edward she wants to accompany him. Edward notes that she is tired and says he doesn't want her present for any tensions between the two groups if the training experiment does not go well, but she insists. Ensured that Charlie is asleep for the night, Bella and Edward wait in her bedroom for the time to pass. Bella thinks seriously about forming a plan to keep her bad luck from affecting others. Edward makes one last effort to coax Bella into staying, but she refuses. He runs, carrying her on his back, to a large field, which Bella recognizes as the baseball clearing she visited with the Cullens over a year previously

and boosted to popularity of the flute in general. Moving further, in 60s flutist Sam Most and Herbie Mann started to develope new sounds and ways. Mostly thanks to widespread experimenting happening all around the world, radical changes took place concerning the flute. Techniques from modern classical pieces(f.e E.Varese, L.Berio) started to come over and develop jazzflute even further. One of the virtuosos, E.Dolphy started to experiment and during his stay in Italy, started to study under Severino Gazzelloni(Pioneer in multiphonics). In the 2nd half of the 60s, Decade for bossa nova, started to spread from Brazil to North America and Europe. Bossa Nova(New Thing) and its rich harmonies and softrythms were an instant hit among jazz musicians and flute was incorporated almost instantly as one of the main solo instruments for this New Thing. At the same time he is helping Mary Elizabeth with her Rocky Horror Picture Show fanzine, Punk Rocky. Charlie also says that he loves Sam. And the bad news is that Sam has already a boyfriend Craig. Charlie's sister tells him that Sam used to be a "blow queen". This hurts Charlie very much, because he didn't want to think like that over Sam. November 12, 1991 Charlie likes Twinkies. He tells a story about rats, pleasurable rewards, and electric shock. It's a very interesting experiment and it tells that rat or mouse would put up with a lot more voltage for the pleasure. November 15, 1991 Charlie thinks a lot about his brother and his dad. I think that Charlie's brother and father are big idols for them. He says that he also wants to join a football team. November 18, 1991 Charlie's brother calls and tells that he won't be able to get home for Thanksgiving. Mom is very upset and she takes Charlie to shopping. She also agrees to have Sam and Patrick for dinner

Sheep senses and social cognition

Sheep senses and social cognition Sheep generally are held in low regard as far as cognition and social skills are concerned. However there is now interesting evidence from studies of their behaviour and brain function that they have highly sophisticated social and emotional recognition skills using faces, voices and smell. They are able to recognize and remember many diferent sheep and humans for several years or more and appear to have some capacity for forming mental images of the faces of absent individuals. The precence of such social cognition abilities in this species means that we must pay careful attention to welfare factors such as the composition and stability of their social environment as well as the nature of our own interactions with them. To many humans sheep are regarded as being as close to an automaton and amindless animal species as can be imagined and any serious consideration of their cognitive, social and genera...

Inimene on inimesele hunt

ABSTRACT The aim of the current research is to find additional proof of the existence of telepathy. In order to do that, repetitive Ganzfeld experiment was performed. This is an experiment that is conducted between two people, in course of which one of the participants tries to mentally send a picture to the other person, who is in ganzfeld state. Ganzfeld state is a state of mild sensory deprivation, which makes the brain try to compensate the lack of normal audiovisual input by producing visions. Earlier researches have given reason to believe that telepathy exists and the outcomes of our experiments confirmed that, too

Pygmalion

"It's only imagination. Low spirits and nothing else. Nobody's hurting you. Nothing's wrong. You go to bed like a good girl and sleep it off. Have a little cry and say your prayers: that will make you comfortable." Why does Eliza wish that she was dead? Why does she say that she wished Higgins had left her where he found her? She does not know what to do with herself, now that she has won the bet. She sold flowers. Now she is a lady. She is not fit to sell anything else. Now that the experiment is over, what does Higgins suggest Eliza to do? He suggests Eliza to open a florist's shop. Why does Eliza ask what belongs to her and what not? Describe the scene with handing over the jewels to Higgins! Mr. Higgins is the one who bought clothes for Eliza. Higgins replies that of course they belong to her. When she protests that she did not want to be accused of stealing them, he is hurt. Will you take these to your room and keep them safe? I dont want to run the risk of their being missing.

Artikli analüüs "Picture Memory"

Artikli analüüs `` Picture Memory `` Gordon H. Bower, Martin B. Karlin, Alvin Duek Üliõpilane: Ants Aasmets, SOPH, 3k. 1. “Praimimisega” mälu paremaks muutmist mälutehniliste ehk mnemooniliste võtetega on ka varasemalt kasutatud lingvistilistes uurimustes, kuid kas inimesed õpivad pilte talletama samamoodi, eriti kahetähenuslikke pilte?
