English Grammar Book 1

Did you know that the sentence was first divided into subject and verb by Plato, the famed philosopher from ancient Greece? That was about 2,400 years ago! Ever since then, students all over the world have found it worthwhile to study the structure of words and sentences. Why? Because skill in speaking and writing is the hallmark of all educated people. Lesson by lesson, this book provides basic instruction in the eight parts of speech--nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections--as well as the standard patterns of English sentences. All students of English, be they native speakers or those who are studying English as a second language, will profit from the fundamental introduction and review of grammar provided by SADDLEBACK'S BASIC ENGLISH GRAMMAR 1 and 2. Helpful marginal notes throughout the books have been provided to reinforce existing skills and call attention to common problem areas.

Cinema is the most restricitve medium

Cinema is the most restricitve medium The topic of this essay is cinema as the most restrictive medium. I would like to discuss the restrictions of cinema as such – what these are, how do they affect the medium. For example time limit of the films, budget, how it affects writer and director, what kind of choices they have to make, and how the audience come into play. Personally, i don’t consider cinema as a restrictive medium. Cinema’s most restrictive feature is time. Filmmakers must fit very good shots edited into very good storyline into one and a half to three hour movie, usually. The reason being, we get uncomfortable sitting long period of time. If the movies would be longer, we would lose

Film Studies - The Black Dahlia

How genre and narrative makes meaning in ``The Black Dahlia`` When analyzing a film, people understand the movie is much more complicated than it seems. To make a difference, to give a meaning to the film, film-makers have used different visual and thematic features. There are macro features (genre, narrative) as well as micro features (mise en scene, cinematography) and they are linked together in many ways. I have chosen to analyse the closing sequence of ``The Black Dahlia``, directed by Brian de Palma, and I will focus on macro features in this essay. Brian de Palma is well known director, who is focused on noir area through his career

Slumdog Miliooner

Love conquers all is also a universal theme. It can be used in any generation and any country and in different kinds of texts as I have listed. We as an audience all love seeing two young lovers overcoming any obstacles fate throws in their way. This appeals to us as an audience as it makes us believe that if you strive for love, nothing can hold you back from achieving that love. Jamal and Latika are the two young lovers in Slumdog Millionaire and the plot revolves around Jamal's quest to be with Latika and the obstacles that are thrown in his way. The first obstacle appears to be the game show, but we are quickly shown that it is the conflict with the host Prem that Jamal must win to be united with Latika. The conflict between Prem and Jamal helped me understand the main idea of "Love conquers all". It helped me understand this by the use of flashbacks during the show.

Libraries

For example, some libraries have rare books, authors' and composers' manuscripts or works by artists. Today's libraries differ very much from the ones from the past - not only in the contents and services, but also in physical layout and atmosphere. Library derives from the Latin word "liber" which means book. It shows that libraries were collections of books at first but now they have also a wide variety of other materials: magazines, newspapers, disc and cassette tape recordings, films and videos, computerized databases, maps etc. In addition to ordinary books libraries may have large-print books and Braille books for people with impaired vision. There are different kinds of libraries to meet the needs of people: university, research, school, medical, government libraries and other libraries. Public libraries serve a wider range of people than other libraries. They may range from big city libraries to small village libraries

How to write a Design Report

Next time I’d pay a little money for one that was less dirty.” This problem is not an engineering design problem, but the way in which it is documented is identical. Proper documentation includes three parts: problem definition, design description, and evaluation. All three are required to communicate your solution. The figure below shows the basic organization of any design report and should be the model for any report that you write. The following sections provide more detail about the content for each part. Page 2 of 9 Problem Definition In this part you describe the problem you set out to solve. You provide sufficient detail so someone can both understand why the problem is significant and how it has been solved in the past. Your problem is further detailed by providing key design requirements that the solution must meet.

If you learn to recognize and avoid the more common errors of information control, grammar and style, you will achieve this aim. You will write more confidently and more correctly if you check everything you write. Pay particular attention to the following: · Appropriate Subject Heading Take care to prepare your reader by introducing the subject appropriately in your subject heading. · Carefully Organized Information If a reader needs to be persuaded or convinced, your information will need careful planning and organizing. · Correct Grammar and Spelling Train yourself to check for major grammatical errors, words which are commonly misspelt and sentences which are incomplete.

Education

Similarly, where do concentration, reflection, analysis and criticism enter? Are they best taught individually, or learned wholly as byproducts of studying mathematics, geography, history, etc? It is obvious that such skills are more valuable than any single subject which might be used as the vehicle to develop them. Inequality. Some students, subjected to identical classwork, learn rapidly and progress, while others fail. How can we predict success or failure, and compensate the at-risk children? Few practical options may be available to teachers. It is inevitable in universal public schooling that the extreme students, either dull or bright, will be hurt by our emphasis on the average. It is horrible to admit, but our society cannot assume that all members are capable of being well educated. We have unequal physical, mental and environmental status, and the poorer fringe will always exist
