mainland. The first settlers arriving in Van Diemen's land arrived in 1803. There was a whaling industry in the Bass Strait in the 19th century. Shipbuilding also grew up in Hobard in the mid19th century. In 1825 Tasmania was seperated from Australia for administrative purposes and transportation ended in 1853. Soon tin was discovered and a new industry grew. The population of Tasmania grew fast. The University of Tasmania was founded in 1890. In Tasmania, Whites killed many Aborigines during the 'Black War' of the 1820s. Others died of diseases. The 'war' between Whites and Aborigines began in 1804 with the 'battle' of Risdon Cove. The Governor from 1824 to 1837 was George Arthur. He declared martial law hoping to end the war between them. His attempts failed. And only few survivors were left.

The important thing is not what states were called or how long they lasted, but how they were organised, maintained control, gained and lost legitimacy. Montgomery arrived to claim Yerba Buena two days later. Yerba Buena was renamed San Francisco on January 30 of the next year, and Mexico officially ceded the territory to the United States at the end of the war. The population of San Francisco was over 800 thousand people in 2010. Almost the half of its population are non-hispanic whites and a third are Asians. There's 15% of latinos and 6% of black people there. There's a lot of sights in San Francisco and among them are the Union Square, 150-year-old prison Alcatraz, black-white striped Golden Gate Brigde, Golden Gate Park, which has a lot of things to do for small children and Buena Vista Park, which was founded in 1867. There's also great nice education system in San Francisco. For example the University of
Why did Russian civil war breake out in 1918? The Russian Civil War was to tear Russia apart for three years, between 1918 and 1921. The civil war occurred because after November 1917, many groups had formed that opposed Lenin's Bolsheviks. These groups included monarchists, militarists, and, for a short time, foreign nations. Collectively, they were known as the Whites while the Bolsheviks were known as the Reds. But why did it really breake out? There were three reasons why Civil War broke out in Russia in 1918.The first reason was that there was bound to be a challenge to the Bolsheviks, who had seized power by a surprise coup. After 1918, their political opponents tried to reverse it. The Bolsheviks had many enemies. One group who wanted to destroy the Bolsheviks were the Social Revolutionaries. At first, they had supported the November Revolution
The film teaches people to accept and respect other people. Some people have an opinion that black people don't worth anything but actually every person is human being and deserves a polite and respective attitude. This film was a sheer example that the appearance isn't the most important thing, more important is that people would accept others even when they come from different cultures and nationalities. In the film Nelson Mandela tried to do all possible to connect blacks and whites and to change their prejudices. My favourite place about this film was when the Springboks team visited young and poor children, who were deeply interested about learning rugby. This moment was really heart- warming and positive, the emotions of the team members were pure and sincere. The main characters, Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela and Matt Damon as Francois Pienaar, were skilled and they acted well. The only negative thing, I'd say about this film, is
In June 1919 it lead to an armed conflict with stagnant Baltic Germans who tried to subject Latvia to their power. In the decisive battle under Cesis on June 23 (in Estonian: Võnnu) the Estonian-Latvian forces crushed German resistance. This day is now celebrated as Victory Day in Estonia. In the summer and fall of 1919 war against Soviet Russia already took place on Russian territory. Only in November when the Red Army had beaten the Russian "Whites", it could once again press the front over to Estonian territory. The fiercest battles of the War of Independence took place in November and December 1919 on the Narva Front. The Soviet Command sent two armies (altogether 160,000 troops) against Estonia and Estonia answered with the maximum she had 85,000 men. By the end of 1919 the strength and morale of the Red Army had collapsed and Moscow agreed with armistice. It began on January 3, 1920 that

Can we see any racial tensions? Illustrate the devastating effect of alcohol on the Natives. It talks about rich cowboys and lands which Indians received as allotments. The policy of allotment was a joke for them; many of those were sold to whites and lost forever. Racial tensions Indians were not treated as equals. Alcohol makes Indians either crazy or sleepy etc, effect on them is totally different as on whites. 14. Comment on the attitude of the family members to King's new car. Eli didn't like it. Grandma was protecting him. Nobody in the family was proud of it, except for King and Lynette. ,,Nobody leaned against it". Aurelia and Gordie also had a negative attitude to that. 1

Christopher Columbus claimed Jamaica for Spain after landing there in 1494. Columbus' probable landing point was Dry Harbour, now called Discovery Bay. The capital was moved to Spanish Town, now located in the parish of St. Catherine, as early as 1534. It was then called ,,Villa de la Vega". Spanish Town has the oldest Cathedral in the British colonies. The English Admiral William Penn and General Robert Venables seized the island in 1655. In 1660 the population of Jamaica was about 4 500 whites and some 1 500 blacks. As early as the 1670s, blacks formed a majority of the population. During its first 200 years of British rule, Jamaica became one of the world's leading sugar- exporting, slave-dependent nations, producing more than 77 000 tons of sugar annually between 1820 and 1824. The population in 1834 was 371 070 of whom 15 000 were white, 5 000 free black, 40 000 coloured or mixed race, and 311 070 slaves.
The first champion Siamese, "Wankee," was born in Hong Kong in 1895 and exhibited in 1898. He was relatively large and round-headed by modern standards, but had a more distinct muzzle and longer body than modern appleheaded (as in the rounded headed "applehead" dolls of the USA) Siamese - more of an intermediate type. Frances Simpson, editor of "The Book of the Cat" (1903) included contributions from several early breeders of Siamese cats. While acknowledging the existence of blues, blacks, whites and tabbies in Siam, she stated that only the "Royal Siamese" and "Chocolate Siamese" were recognised in England at that time. These were sometimes bred to each other although opinions on the quality of the offspring were contradictory. The royal Siamese was sometimes bred to white short-hairs because the English type was preferred over the foreign type by judges. Because white is dominant and masks other colours, "sports" with "any other colour" points occurred a generation or two later.
end of 2003. And the trend was increasing-from 3.9 percent diagnosed with AIDS in 1999 to 4.7 percent in 2003. In youth, as in adults, some populations are disproportionately affected. African Americans age 13 to 19 represent only 15 percent of the U.S. teenage population, but accounted for 66 percent of new AIDS cases in 2003. The reasons for this disparity are not completely understood; in fact, African American youth have lower rates of drug abuse than Whites and Hispanics. This remains a strong research priority area for NIDA. In general, middle and late adolescence is a time when young people engage in risk-taking and sensation-seeking-behaviors that may put them in jeopardy of contracting HIV. Regardless of whether a young person takes drugs, unsafe sexual practices increase a person's risk of contracting HIV. But drugs and alcohol can increase the chances of unsafe behavior by altering judgment and decision making.
fashion – punks would attach pins and patches (e.g. of their favourite band) on their clothes or write slogans on them. They wore their hair in mohawks and mixed various colours in their hair. When hair dyes were not easily available, they would use water based craft paint (veebaasil käsitöövärvid, nt guaššid) to dye hair. Also, when they were putting their hair up in mohawks, they would sometimes use egg whites instead of hairspray. 18. North Star. In 1868, Douglass supported the presidential campaign of Ulysses S. Grant. The Klan Act and the Enforcement Act were signed into law by President Grant. Grant used their provisions vigorously, suspending habeas corpus in South Carolina and sending troops there and into other states; under his leadership, over 5,000 arrests were made and the Ku Klux Klan was dealt a serious blow. Grant's vigor in disrupting the Klan made him unpopular among many whites, but Frederick Douglass praised him. An associate of Douglass wrote of Grant that African Americans "will ever cherish a grateful remembrance of his name, fame and great services." In 1872, he became the first African American to receive a nomination for Vice President of the United States, having been nominated to be Victoria Woodhull's running mate on the Equal Rights Party ticket without his knowledge. During the campaign, he neither

...................................................................11 USED LITERATURE.................................................................................................................................................12 Introduction I chose this theme because I am really into all kinds of different cultures. What most exited me in this theme was that I had absolutely no idea who creoles were. Now I now that there were three general groups that made up Creole society: 1) whites who were Creoles, Americans, and inhabitants of European origin made up the highest class; 2) free Blacks, emancipated slaves and their descendants made up the middle class; and 3) slaves who were household property, were the lowest class. The Creoles were the majority of the white population. They had a complex social organization, which included foreign groups such as Germans, Irish, and Spaniards whose names were given a French accent

Most Asian Americans have come from China, India, the Philippines, Vietnam, Korea, and Japan

Man is capable of committing heinous (jälk ) actions. Civilization vs barbarism: which is which? The treatment of the natives at the Company's station increases the barbarity of the "civilized" whites. First Marlowe sees a chain gang of several natives who seem starved and nearly worked to death. As they pass by, they seem to have the blank stare of death, unconscious to Marlowe's presence even though they pass within six inches of him. Again in the grove of death, Marlowe sees the effect of the civilizing light of Europe upon the natives. "They were dying slowly . . . nothing but black shadows of disease and starvation . . . lost
Native Americans' perceived inabilities to assimilate neatly into EuroAmerican society." Though widely viewed as a sympathizer, if not a staunch advocate, for Native Americans, "Cooper was ambivalent about the westering advance of the society to which he belonged." Perhaps that is the reason why he did not clearly reveal in The Leatherstocking Tales his stand on the cultural clashes between the whites and the natives, especially the removal of the native from their lands. He seems to be more concerned with the ways of acculturating the native into the white society. While believing in the superiority of the Western civilization and the justification for dispossessing the "uncivilized" Native Americans, the typical mentality in the 19th century America, Cooper did not advocate a total elimination of the Native American way of life. But his solution to the cultural clashes
were in New York (originally New Amsterdam) and the surrounding area. Large numbers of Germans began to arrive at the end of the seventeenth century, settling mainly in Pennsylvania and its hinterland. In addition, there were increasing numbers of Africans entering the south, as a result of the slave trade, and this dramatically increased in the eighteenth century: a population of little more than 2,500 black slaves in 1700 had become about 100,000 by 1775, far out-numbering the southern whites. [3, p.35] The nineteenth century saw a massive increase in American immigration, as people fled the results of revolution, poverty, and famine in Europe. Large numbers of Irish came following the potato famine in Ireland in the 1840s. Germans and Italians came, escaping the consequences of the failed 1848 revolutions. And, as the century wore on, there were increasing numbers of Central European Jews, especially fleeing from the pogroms of the 1880s
It has all kinds of engineers, including petroleum and geological engineers. Oil was discovered in Nigeria in1948. But you know what? Nigeria still imports refined oil at exorbitant rates. It does not have engineers who prospect for the oil; it does not have engineers who drill for the oil; it does not have engineers who refine the oil. It imports the oil. Nigeria has two oil refineries – all built by foreigners. To maintain these refineries they must import the experts (whites) who built the refineries to repair any minor problems. When one of the refineries was out of 13 production for a long time in 1998, over $475 million was awarded to repair it. Despite the fact that the refinery has been in existence for more than 15 years, Nigerians had not learned to repair the refinery. That contract of $475 million would have gone a long way in spreading the wealth of that huge amount across all strata of the society

RULE #2: EAT THE SAME FEW MEALS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. The most successful dieters, regardless of whether their goal is muscle gain or fat-loss, eat the same few meals over and over again. There are 47,000 products in the average U.S. grocery store, but only a handful of them won't make you fat. Mix and match from the following list, constructing each meal with one pick from each of the three groups. I've starred the choices that produce the fastest fat-loss for me: Proteins *Egg whites with 12 whole eggs for flavor (or, if organic, 25 whole eggs, including yolks) *Chicken breast or thigh *Beef (preferably grass-fed) *Fish Pork Legumes *Lentils (also called "dal" or "daal") *Black beans Pinto beans Red beans Soybeans Vegetables *Spinach *Mixed vegetables (including broccoli, cauliflower, or any other cruciferous vegetables) *Sauerkraut, kimchee (full explanation of these later in "Damage Control") *Sauerkraut, kimchee (full explanation of these later in "Damage Control")

They argue that, simply by providing individu- als of different ethnic backgrounds with more exposure to one another as equals, those individuals will naturally come to like each other better. However, when sci- entists have examined school integration-the area offering the single best test of the contact approach-they have discovered quite the opposite pattern. School de- segregation is more likely to increase prejudice between blacks and whites than to decrease it (Stephan, 1978). Let's stay with the issue of school desegregation for a while. However well in- tentioned the proponents of interracial harmony through simple contact are, their approach is unlikely to bear fruit because the argument on which it is based is terri- bly misinformed. First of all, research has shown that the school setting is not a WHY DO I LIKE YOU? LET ME LIST THE REASONS
