The Estonian War of Independence

The Estonian War of Independence began with the attack of the Red Army of the Soviet Russia on Narva on the 28 November 1918 and lasted until a ceasefire on the 3 January 1920 (juridically until the 2 February 1920). In the War of Independence, Estonia received support from the UK, Finland, Latvia and the White Russian Northwestern Army. In the defence of the independent statehood of Estonia in the battlefield participated at least 130 students and 11 teachers of the Gymnasium for Boys, which was the name for Gustav Adolf Grammar School at that time. Johan Laidoner has said that it was the schoolboys who brought "the belief, that we would win and that is the greatest gift they have given to the Republic during its birth." (point to the list of students on the slide.) The youngest students of our school in the War of Independence were 15 and the oldest, Martin Hendrikson, celebrated

By buying more books and changing library opening hours, we could solve the problem. Teachers` teaching styles Last, the minority of our class students (22%) do not like the teachers` teaching styles. Teachers should explain more clearly what they exactly want from students. In this way all the students would accept the teachers` teaching styles. Conclusion To sum up, I feel that the above improvements would make things even better. If these suggestions were carried out, both teachers and students would be content with teaching and studying conditions in the school.

School on cool!

training. Sudenly we find ourselves asking why? why so much pressure, what`s the whole point ? Too many responsibilities are very frustrating. Even some rainy day could make us sad ! It`s easy to study in winter, because nothing is calling us out. In spring only thought is what will i do after school? Weather is warm again and sun can be very foxy! Another disturbing factor is " annoying classmates" . Some people just want to put up a show. They scream , yell ugly words to teachers and impede the schoolwork. Thanks to the yellers, teachers are mad and ofcourse they punish the whole class. This is also very depressing. Just admire teachers! They can give us homework according to their mood. Sometimes opening the daiary and looking at the homework it just seems like teachers want to tease us! But in the other hand , teachers are half of our future ! Who else could have nerves made of wolfram? They listen to

Big school or small school

Would you rather go to a large or a small school. I prefer large school. In a large school there are many opportunities to learn. First I would say that the big school is located in city. This is important to me. When I live in city i have to choose many number of schools. I have to do much more than go home and school. I have more time and i can go in many hobby groups. Secondly I would say that I do not like that teachers have less time. Teachers have little time to deal with people individually. Preparation of teaching materials is more difficult to have many classes in school. Work hard to improve because teachers do not have much time. Thirdly I would say I do not like that there are few nature in a big school near. City people do not surrounded the clean nature. People living in polluted climates, where cars travel every day. People should move to the land where it is cleaner and more recent.

Teacher's Day

International Teachers`Day In many countries, Teachers' Days are intended to be special days for the appreciation of teachers; World Teachers' Day is celebrated across the world on October 5. I was a third A grade teacher and My assignment was to teach them the Estonian and math. The first lesson was the Estonian, and we read poems and talked about the modern school of boys and girls. The second lesson I spent with the students of the Eleventh A. I will provide them with the necessary information, which had previously been told to me. Next, we talked about the how the gymnasium student must behave and interact. I was trying to talk about them as much as possible, however, that although they were not interested. The third lesson, I was once again a third-class and Now I had an lesson of Mathematics. Students had Midterm to check their knowledge of aggregation and separation. On top of work they had t...

Distance learning is a challenge

Marge Veskemaa Distance learning is a challenge To begin with, distance learning is very difficult. However, there are some positive things. I can plan my school work mostly. Some teachers gives a time when you need to be ready. This would mean that we can´t just lay down and relax all day. I think they give enough time and student should get ready with their work. When there is no time I can do my work in the morning, in afternoon or in the evening. With that I learn planning and I am more independent. I think one thing you need to have and that is motivation. For example, you sit every day at home and do nothing, motivation is very easy to go away and you do not want to do

Interview with Chinese lecturer

teachers receive from overseas students in China is related to the purpose of teaching. In China, the Chinese language studies often hold more importance for the students, since most of them have come to China from poorer countries in Asia hoping to earn more money and have a better life in China than they would in their own countries. To be able to become successful in China they need the Chinese language skills and consequently respect the teachers who can make a great difference in their lives by teaching them the necessary vocabulary. In Estonia on the other hand, the reason to study Chinese is often due to some level of interest rather than a necessity. Therefore the motivation and effort the students put in the Chinese language studies varies greatly. According to the lecturer, the students in Estonia question the teacher's decisions

If I were an English teacher

If I were an English teacher Being a teacher is not an easy task. Teachers have many problems with students who does not know how to behave. Some of them even make fun of teachers and I find this kind of behaviour disturbing, because it is not fair that urchins have more fun in school than decent students have. Yes, teachers can throw the rebels out or punish them in other ways, but that usually agitates the students against the teacher. Firstly, I would like to say that if I were an English teacher I would variegate the classes with subjects, which students would actually find interesting. I would find it exciting to let them think and explore more about politics, social issues, world news and of course other subjects that they really find interesting to speak about. I believe these subjects need

Estonian climate in winter-time.

year it could be so warm you may wear your autumn clothes in winter. Some year it could snow so much, that you can't even get out of the house, because there's too much snow in front of your door and some year it may not snow for at least half of the winter-time. But no worries, mostly the temperature may go below -30 and because of the cold, students are absent from schools. The absent students mess up the whole classes program, because then it takes more time to study some subjects and teachers have a lot more work to do. I think, that when students skip school because of the bad weather, teachers should put homework and the work that should have been done in classes, on ekool, but not as concise as it would be if stundents have been at school. Then, students can study subjects on their own and if they can't understand something, they may send an e-mail to teachers or ask help from fellow students.

Summer holidays are too long Summer holidays are important. Children need enough time to rest from school hard work. They have to have time to do all the things they like. Children aren't the only ones who need all this, teachers need it too. Children need long holidays. In summer they can go on vacation with their families and visit all the interesting places. Some kids like water parks and amusement parks, some are interested in museums. They can also visit relatives. Every child wants to play and spend time with friends outside of school, also develop their hobbies. If summer holidays were shorter, they wouldn't have time to do all this. School is hard work. ELT Methodology (FLGR.01.041) 27.12.2012 Home Assignments. I Youtube clips: · A vision of K-12 students I personally think that Estonian learners are also digital learners. They spend more time at the computers or laptops or iPads etc. than read books or move outside. And another thing is that teachers are less capable in using technological appliances. But the latter mentioned fact is an advantage for us teachers as well. It gives us an opportunity to provide our students to experience success. They can help and assist us if we need some technological help. Another thing is that in schools, in classes generally students are not allowed to use their appliances, so it means they have to communicate verbally as well. I

What are the most needed professions in Estonia in the 21st Century

Most needed professions in Estonia in the 21st Century All people in our society have a role. All adults should have jobs. That means they need to choose a professions. In my opinion one the most needed professions is a doctor. When people get sick, they need doctors to check them, put diagnose and treat them. In my opinion there are few specialists in Estonia because lot of them go to foreign country, mostly because of the low salary in Estonia. Another job needed is teachers. If you want to study a specialty or aquire a high school you need teachers who will guide and teach. The third most needed profession is builders. The cities grow and new building`s are being razed and in turn, the economy is growing. Some old houses are being restored like they used to be in the past. I think that all three professions are needed in Estonia and that employees in this field do not leave Estonia when raise salary and they are recognized.

Freedom of speech

Freedom of speech Freedom of speech is a wide speared conception. I can understand it in many different ways. For example in my state, Estonia, the freedom is a very important for every human. At least to me it is seemed to be like that. But at school is a little bit sad story with freedom of speech. Some teachers are not used that student expresses her own strong opinion. When another way some teachers are just waitening it. As well as people can not speak along with state public topics and express their opinion. Therefore freedom of speech is debateable. Already from the old times Estonians have been fighting for their own freedom, because they do not like to allow to another country or state, foreign public and foreign language. Estonian public have been fighting with German, Russian and a lot of other states. Estonians has

The importance of education

The importance of education Education is one of the most important part in our today's society. Children are our future and educating them is really necessary. In the first place, giving children education is really important, because they are our future leaders, teachers and they have to develop our government for centuries. Moreover, schools, highschools and even universities teach some of the things you will have to encounter in your life after studies and have to step to work-life. In Fact, you will probably have to make presentations, CV-s and know how to communicate correctly with people. Furthermore, education gives you experience you can always relay on. It is shown in your documents that you will have for rest of your life. Different

Essay: What Makes a Good Teacher

I reckon it all comes down to the circumstance whether the teacher loves her job or does she do it just for the salary. If she only does it for money, the children will not take her seriously. She should also have a vast knowledge of her subject. Otherwise, it is really difficult for the attentive and eager pupils to get answers to their questions.Another important quality is humour. I believe that helps to make picking up knowledge much easier and more fun. Children always prefer teachers with a good sense of humour. However, tutors should be a litte strict otherwise the class will not behave. Furthermore, the relationship between a student and a tutor should be formal but friendly. That is why co-operation is very significant and necessary. Dealing with misbehaving and troubled children can often be gruelling. For me, theseare the qualities that matter the most. But all teachers are different and there is nothing I can do about it

Electronic devices in the classroom: For and against

Teachers can show different pictures, movies and other such things. If students do not know the answer they can easily search for it from the internet. Most of the programs are in English and I think thanks to that students vocabulary expands considerably. The disadvantages are that electronic devices ruin children eyes and they are 24/7 behind the computer or social media. The electronic devices take a lot of money because the school and children need to buy them. The teachers have to be always ready to do something else because the network can always go down or the electronic devices do not work. In the beginning the teacher must take part in the courses. I am totally against the electronic devices in the classroom. Yes, we can use the projector sometimes and do listening exercises in computer. Lessons where each student has their own electronic devices are a very bad idea.

minutes and then we have only 10 minutes for eating and together with having no space while having a lunch it makes a big chaos. Even our school chefs have asked us to talk with our teachers to make it reasonable and convenient for everybody. Students and also school canteen workers feel, like they don't have a say in school affairs. As a result workers may start protesting and pupils will go eat comfort food to fill their stomachs. I highly doubt, that even our teachers like our current situation, that is why we should do something about it. I still don't understand how have we not done anything yet. We should make our lunch brake system comfortable and practical for everyone. It means, that we should start using our old system, which is hopefully going to lead to improved eating behaviours.

Using Blogs as a Platform in the TEFL

have become commonplace. Learners of all ages have increased access to technology such as the World Wide Web, which provides a seemingly limitless amount of information. New technologies such as Mp3, podcasting, and social networking are booming. In contrast to more traditional environments, technology offers greater opportunities for interactivity and learner control. There are more educators and language teachers using the Internet in language teaching as well. Many computer applications, especially asynchronous computer-mediated communication such as email and electronic bulletin boards, promote interactive learning. With the booming growth of technology, blogs have become another learning platform for language teaching. Accordingly, these in turn have provided both teachers and learners with an alternative

Using smartphones at school

out of school. Some people are not able to be 10 minutes away from their smartphones and this is bad. Smartphones are also bad for your eyes and posture. On the other hand smartphones can be very useful. You are able to search for information very quickly. Using them in class can make students take up knowledge more easily because the environment is more comfortable for them. Also doing tests in smartphones can be easier for students. Doing tests trough smartphones is also easier for teachers. Smartphones can also help you when you have a test on the paper. You can cheat but only if you do not get caught. In conclusion I think that students should pay more attention to teachers not on their smartphones. The knowledge that is getting lost is huge and that can affect your life in future. On the other hand I think that more test should be done with smartphones because that saves paper nad it is easier for teacher to grade the tests.

If I were the Minister of Education in Estonia

I think that the absences wouldn't be so punishable by the school, because I think it's your own choice if you go to school or not, just like in universities. There should be more e-learning lessons, because when I can't or do not want to go to school today then I can do the lessons at home on my own and then submit them to the teacher. If I were the minister of education, then I would do all that what makes kids love school. All teachers should love children and also love working with them. Teachers should believe in children's abilities. At least in elementary schools falling out should be impossible. I would do anything it takes for all kids to get the best education they need. I would like if children could say that school is their second home. Laura Illak 11. klass

Uniforms are quite often uncomfortable to wear, which makes them even worse. To sum up, I would say that stundents should not wear uniforms. Although, you can see that there are more good sides of wearing uniforms than bad ones, there is one thing you may not see. It is the fact, that uniforms benefit only the teachers. Teachers would have students dressed propely, everyone would be equal etc. But the students would we forced to wear uniforms against their will. Differentiated, individualized instruction is based on the learning style of each child. Most science classes would take place outdoors. Children would be exposed to great literature, art, and music and encouraged to make their own relationships with these works. Children would have guidance in setting long-and short-term goals. Teachers would serve as mentors and facilitators, sharing their educational passions and helping children learn to help themselves. The children would be completely free to set up their own schedules. However, they would be held accountable for achieving their goals every week. English essay The Future of Education

The face of education is changing rapidly because of direct injection of computer technology into schools. Online courses soon will prevail over the traditional high school and college education. Online Universities will create classes sponsored by companies. These companies will direct the universities on the materials of the course. The company will then offer those who pass the course a job. This will create a worker who will not be able to do his job without a computer. Teachers will take a backseat in these courses. There is also a chance that Teachers will have an easier job in the future, they will instruct the students only if needed. Also on the horizon are smart objects. These objects are geared more to small children then those that are in high school or college. Objects with animations such as building blocks that can talk and light up to indicate to a child how to stack them correctly. But that can also have

For example in Computer design we study different picture and video editing programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Corel, Adobe Illustrator etc, we edit photos and make ad's. In Advertising Psychology we study why are the ad's like they are, how the work, why does the company use the colors they use. We analyze and explore different ad's and commercials. In Painting we paint and draw Nature Morte and at the end of every semester we rip them on the walls and all the teachers rate them. At the end of every year we have a few month of practice where we go to some Design company or like I did go to some newspaper and practice what we've learned. This is also graded by the teachers. Artistic design graduates are trained to work at advertising agency's, in media, and manufacturing companies. Pros and Cons of Homeschooling

Homeschooling is becoming more popular every day, with a growth rate of 7 percent per year. There are about two million children currently learning at home. Homeschooled kids do well on standardized tests and are welcome at colleges and universities. Pros: Individual teaching attention Continuous population growth is leading to overcrowded schools in many areas. Add this to the recent economic struggles, with many schools laying off teachers or closing altogether. This means that teachers are more overwhelmed than ever, often handling classes of 40 or more children at a time. Personalized learning Another important consideration in the pros and cons of homeschooling is your ability to tailor lesson plans to your child. In traditional school environments, classmates often learn at very different speeds. This helps slower learners stay on track with the class, but often

Why I came to study English essay

By that time I had also found out that I loved to write, specially poems and I used every opportunity to submit my works for competitions and I had the luck to win some of them. It felt good to be one of the best students in our class. As the school went on and I finally found myself in 9 th grade, just before the exams, and I realised that in the following years after my graduation from elementary school, my mathematic skills had gotten a bit rusty and I was mortified. Our teachers kept saying to us that math is really important in the future and that you have to have the knowledge in mathemathics to actually achieve something in your life. But still, there I was, writing poems and essays, even in my free time, because unlike my skills in maths and other subjects like chemistry and biology, my skills in writing had actually improved and I had also discovered my love of reading in English. I had always loved to read, but many of the books I loved had

Leap of faith

Leap of faith All of you, hopefully, will graduate from high school this year. It’s great. You don’t need to wake up at 6 or 7 AM. No more homeworks, teachers giving you bad grades, or days lasting up to 4 or 5 pm. Great. While it’s all party and stuff, people will tend to ask you one question all the time, as you start to finish your last year. I don’t know how many of you have suffered that pain already, but I have. People, friends and family more frequently, will ask you the following: ‘Hey. Soo… Who do you want to become in the future?’ First thing most of you will say is that: ‘Um, I’m not entirely sure, I’m yet to decide

Bullying

Bullying Some people are bullies. They want to have attention. Many people at school only laugh at it, nobody tries to stop it. Bullies at school are usually bigger children. Teachers are always against bullyng, and they know that it is bad. When I was jounger i was bullied by my grandfather, and I bullied him too.We are now good friends, we do not bully each other any more. When I was younger I was a bully, because I thought that it was cool. Now I understand that bullies have mental deseases. I hate bullies and being bullied.

How To Get Better Grades

HOW TO GET BETTER GRADES To get better grades you have to learn everything and to be careful not to miss anything. In school you have to listen to everything your teacher says and you have to do your homework. Homework has to be done everyday and it has to be checked, because in your home your parents can check your homework for mistakes. When you are at school you have to be prepared and be ready to answer any questions that teachers could ask you. If you have something not done or forgot to do something, then you have to apologise to the teacher and it has to be done for the next day. The main key to success is paying attention in class, listening to every word your teacher says and to do your homework very good.

Letter 2008

Dear Mr Roberts I am writing to express my concern about the closing of the art studio and to bring out reasons why the art studio should be left open. Firstly, there are teachers at the studio, who offer tutoring for many fameous artists. Therfore young students can learn from the best. Furthermore, there are lots of necessary facilities. Secondly, the studio is located in an easily accessible area, so students all over the city can attent in the art department. Moreover, young talents can exhibit their creations in the studio. Thirdly, the art department is opend 24/7 so students can attent there after school.

Praising Children

dominated since. It is incredibly important for us all to have a feeling of self-worth and acceptance, but as- children are been praised too much. Are we given the skills to work at a goal instead of expecting to complete it easily because we are told we are "smart"? Are we set up for failure by being told how smart we are, when in all actuality maybe we are right where we should be: in the middle? I have a feeling that the way we praise and are been praised is going to change; not that teachers and parents are going to be overly critical of their children and students, but that the way they encourage their kids will be more equal to others. We should be inspired to work harder for knowledge not for grades. B.K 11c
