Safety on the road

from crashes of road vehicles. Harm from road traffic crashes is greater than that from all other transportation modes (air, sea, space, off-terrain, etc.) combined. Million people are killed on the world's roads each year. Unfortunately it includes school children as well. Is it really that hard to ensure safety in school areas? Why youngsters have to suffer because of lausy drivers? School children have been in great danger since there have been cars but it has grown throught time because of the big number of drivers. The more there are people, the more there are drivers, the more are cars and the biggers is the possibility of accidents. Road traffic crashes are one of the world's largest public health and injury prevention problems. The problem is all the more acute because the victims are overwhelmingly healthy prior to their crashes. According to the World Health Organization more than a

Should a mosque be built in Tallinn?

Why are so many people opposed to something that in its core is just another place of worship much-like any other? After all, the construction of the mosque wouldn't even be funded by tax-payers. In addition, most of us don't oppose the building of churches, even though Estonia is currently the 3rd least religious country on the planet. Many people fear that the building of a mosque would open a door for Islamic radicalization in Estonia. I for one, find that very hard to believe since the main cause of radicalization is not religion, but the feeling of exclusion. The feeling of not being wanted within society. Many parts of Europe are currently caught in a vicious circle A terrorist attack occurs, so people no longer want Islam in their home town. The muslim population, as a result, feels alienated and pockets of radicalized muslims start to form . Every so often, one of these groups commit another terrorist attack and thus, the wheel just keeps turning

Sunflower

North American sunflower seed is still produced in North and South Dakota and Minnesota. II. Uses: A. Edible(söödav)oil: Commercially available sunflower varieties contain from 39 to 49% oil in the seed. In 1985-86, sunflower seed was the third largest source of vegetable oil worldwide, following soybean and palm. The growth of sunflower as an oilseed crop has rivaled that of soybean, with both increasing production over 6-fold since the 1930s. Sunflower accounts for about 14% of the world production of seed oils (6.9 million metric tons in 1985-86) and about 7% of the oilcake and meal produced from oilseeds. Europe and the USSR produce over 60% of the world's sunflowers. The oil accounts for 80% of the value of the sunflower crop, as contrasted with soybean which derives most of its value from the meal. Sunflower oil is generally considered a

He intended it to be his burial place. The Westminster Abbey is located near the Houses of Parliament. It is more a historical site than a religious site. Since 1066, every royal coronation, with the exception of Edward V and Eward VIII has taken place in Westminster Abbey. The abbey also serves as the burial ground for numerous politicians, sovereigns and artists. It is also a final resting place of seventeen monarchs. The abbey is stuffed with graves, statues and monuments. Many coffins even stand upright due to the lack of space. In total approximately 3300 people are buried in the Church and cloisters. Some of the most

Page |2 Reading: Read through the text, look up unknown words by J. K. Rowling In 1990, a British woman in her mid-twenties called Joanne Rowling was on a train in England when she suddenly had an idea for a story she could write. She had enjoyed writing ever since she was a young girl, but there was something about the main character in this story that seemed especially exciting. He was a thin, black-haired boy who wore glasses. He was also a wizard, but didn't yet know about his magical powers. His name was Harry Potter. Harry has since made Rowling (whose pen name is J.K. Rowling) the richest author in the world. Her six books about his adventures have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide and exist in more than 50 different languages

So she decided to mix her real life with a little imagination her everyday life was mixed up anyways, so it couldn't get worse! "I'm Heartless," she said. He laughed and asked, "Heartless? What kind of a name is that? It is a name, right?" "The Puppet Master gave me this name." "The Puppet Master? Are you a doll then?" "Not any longer, since I escaped from the Underworld." Smile on the man's face disappeared. "Who are you, Heartless? Enough of the stories tell me the truth!" "My Master was the Devil it is the truth." "Was?" "Yes, I got tired of serving the evil." "So you're saving people in trouble now?" 4 Heartless laughed, since to her mind their talk was pointless after all, she was not a Demon

material from as early as 3000 BC, when the initial ditch and bank were first dug. Such deposits continued at Stonehenge for at least another 500 years. The stones we see today represent Stonehenge in ruin. Many of the original stones have fallen or been removed by previous generations for home construction or road repair. There has been serious damage to some of the smaller bluestones resulting from close visitor contact (prohibited since 1978) and the prehistoric carvings on the larger sarsen stones show signs of significant wear. Stonehenge was produced by a culture that left no written records. Many aspects of Stonehenge remain subject to debate. This multiplicity of theories, some of them very colourful, are often called the "mystery of Stonehenge". There is little or no direct evidence for the construction techniques used by the Stonehenge builders

Assignment Module 3 - BEPS project Action 4

BEPS project Action 4: Interest deductions and other financial payments Maris Leemets 10.08.2016 Peer Assignment in Module 3 The OECD with its Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) project is working towards proposing politically feasible and multilaterally acceptable ways to minimize the corporate tax base erosion and profit shifting activities since 2013. Out of its 15 main lines of work under BEPS project (called Actions) I will concentrate on Action 4 which aims at proposing new rules for preventing the manipulation of interest expense related tax deductions of corporates. The underlying problem is that multinational groups can easily create and relocate debt in their group according to the most preferential tax treatment available which in some cases results in no or even negative corporate tax payments from those companies.

Saturn

approached Saturn in September of 1979, the planet was thought to have but three rings (Yenne 125). Saturn is the sixth planet in the solar system, located between Jupiter and Uranus. Its average distance from the Sun is over 850 million miles, compared to Earth's which is 93 million miles. Saturn's orbit, the path it follows around the Sun, is nearly a circle. The closest the planet has come to the Sun is around 840 million miles, while the furthest away it gets is 930 million miles. Since Saturn is so far away from the Sun, it takes a very long time for it to complete its orbit of the Sun. Saturn's year equals 29 and one-half Earth years. A day on Saturn, though, is much shorter than an Earth day ;it rotates around once every ten and one-half hours (Kuhn 280-282). Saturn is the second largest planet in the solar system. Jupiter is the only planet that is larger. The gas giant is 72 thousand miles in diameter, almost ten times the size of Earth

Demand and Supply

The nature of the "demand function" depends on the nature of the good considered and the relationship being modeled. In most cases the demand relationship is based on an inverse or negative relationship between the price and quantity of a good purchased. · The demand function is a model that "explains" the change in the dependent variable (quantity of the good X purchased by the buyer) "caused" by a change in each of the independent variables. · Since all the independent variable may change at the same time it is useful to isolate the effects of a change in each of the independent variables. · To represent the demand relationship graphically, the effects of a change in PX on the QX are shown Change in demand A change in demand is a "shift" or movement of the demand function. A shift of the demand function can be caused by a change in: · incomes

waves. Dynamic stretching is an important factor of mobility in order to deform and extend the muscles.12 Stretching dynamically is also an opportunity to stretch intensely beyond one’s abilities and develop hypermobile joints as a consequence. Contrary to the positive effects of hypermobility, the condition can cause a lot of inconveniences and discomfort. If one has the syndrome, one also has a greater risk to injure or dislocate one’s joints. Since the joints are fragile and not strong enough to endure the pressure one applies to them, sprains as well as strains are easy to emerge. Furthermore, one can sustain extreme pain because of the condition. Some of the patients suffer from chronic pain during their entire lives. In most cases, the musculoskeletal pain is caused by arthritis 13, which is a joint inflammation that causes a lot of pain. The joints affected are located mostly in the spine, fingers or knees. The

Pilling measurement is traditionally performed using manual procedures involving visual control of fabric surface by human experts. Since the early nineties, great efforts in developing automatic and non-intrusive methods for pilling measurement have been made all around the world with the final aim of overcoming traditional, visual-based and subjective, procedures. Machine Vision proved to be among the best options to perform such defect assessment since it provided increasingly performing measurement equipment and tools, serving the purpose of automatic control. In particular, a relevant number of interesting works have been proposed so far, sharing the idea of helping (or even replacing) traditional measurement methods using image processing-based ones. The present work provides a rational and chronological review of the most relevant methods for pilling measurement proposed so far.

components. Also, if legacy code written in a different language is utilised then portability is frequently compromised. Productivity is an important advantage, although hard to quantify. An old study from 1998 suggested that software written in pure Java instead of C++ results in a 25% overall time/cost saving, corresponding to an overall productivity increase of 30% (the increase for the code phase alone is 65%) [Quinn and Christiansen 1998]. It is likely that these figures are greater today since the capabilities of the J2SE have improved (e.g. the libraries are larger, tool speed is better). 2.2. Ways of Using Java in Games There are several approaches to writing games with Java: · Applets. Usually the applet is a client for a multiplayer game, and communicates back to its home host where the game server is located. Why should tourists visit Estonia?

Why should tourists visit Estonia? I have always though of my country as a huge ,,multicultural city". We have so many different cultures from different places put into a little place all together that you could almost say we are a huge city not a country. And that has influenced us in a very remarcable way. Since the time we can remember we have been under Danes, Swedes, Germans, Russians, Polans and other. We have taken their traditions into our daily lives and forgotten ours. But still despite the fact that we bearly know our own language structure or our old traditions,we try to awake them once again. Estonia is one of the worlds wealthiest countries when it comes to forests. Almost half of the country is covered with the divercity of trees. Also we have many big rivers.

and soft fruits, and bulbs and flowers. The high productivity of the arable sector has been achieved by the removal of hedgerows to create larger fields, by mechanization, and by the intensive use of fertilizers, pesticides, and fungicides. As with the issue of animal treatment, these trends in arable agriculture have provoked public concern. Combined, these concerns have helped encourage the rapid growth of vegetarianism in Britain since the early 1980s and the expansion of organic farming, although this is still on a very small scale. However, partly in reaction to these concerns, and partly because of costs, the trend is now towards lower chemical use in farming. Agricultural policy includes schemes to encourage farmers to take land out of agricultural production to adopt more environmentally kind, but less productive methods of farming to

The main characters in the film are Jonathan, who at first is sceptical about Sara's beliefs as well as frustrated, and Sara, who believes in letting fate take its course. Jonathan Trager was played by John Cusack, a Blockbuster Entertainment Award winner for his role in ,,Con air". Sara Thomas is played by the charming Kate Beckinsale, who also played in an Oscar winning movie ,,Pearl harbor". Personally I believe in fate since often things appear to be more than just mere coincidences. I found it to be one of the most enjoyable romantic comedies I've seen, however I did find it to be rather unrealistic or rather too good to be true. I do not agree, that it was a sickeningly sweet love story. It was still enjoyable. However I do agree on feelings and intuitions being important in our lives.

From there, Memphis' inaccuracy from the field allowed the Suns to extend the lead to double digits. O'Neal was perfect on his first four shots from the field and his first four free throws. There are many scenarios for future demand. One solution would be to use more hydropower. In 2005, renewable energy represented one-fifth of total power generation. Hydropower is the most advanced of the renewable and represents 87% of this production. 160 countries all over the world are using hydropower. Understandably shaken by the passing of Park, Märtin effectively left the WRC stage. He went on to manage a junior rallying team in the Estonian rally scene, indicating that he would likely refuse any offers to drive at the top level again. He has since spoken out against the FIA's treatment of the WRC, claiming that the series had lost much of its luster and calling for a far-reaching rules overhaul. However, Märtin made a limited return to competitive rallying in March 2006 at the 2006 Rally of Portugal. The invitational event was held as a candidate for full WRC status. Markko competed in a Subaru Impreza, his first outing in an FIA-spec Group N car in nearly a decade.

The English Language

Many words were introduced from Greek and Latin to express new ideas, especially in science, medicine and philosophy. Nowadays 80 percent of the word-stock is foreign-born. So we can say that most world languages have contributed some words to English at some time, and the process is now being reversed. Purists of the languages are resisting the arrival of English in their vocabulary. The standard English oh today is known as BBC English. Few British people know much about grammar, since it is not usually taught in schools. Spelling and pronunciation seem to be the most difficult aspects of the English language for foreign students. English is very rich in synonyms. The huge vocabulary is due to the free admission of words from other languages and the easy creation of compounds and derivaties. English vocabulary numbers at least 750,000 words. Educated English speakers use approximately 5,000 words in speech and up to 10,000 in written communication

Halloween

This holiday celebrates the day that Martin Luther put The NinetyFive Theses on a church door The Irish hollowed out turnips, placed a light inside to keep away the bad and stingy Jack. As the legend says, Jack was a man who tricked the devil and after Jack had died he was allowed neither in heaven nor in hell. With a lantern in his hand he began to search for a resting place on Earth. This was the original JackoLantern. Since Halloween came to America from Ireland (Scotland and Wales) people used pumpkins because they were bigger and easier to hollow out than turnips. During the centuries the cultures have added their own elements to the way Halloween is celebrated. Druids in Britain and Ireland would light bonfires, dance around them and offer sacrifices of animal and crops. The fires were also intended to give warmth to the households and to keep free from evil spirits. Through the ages these practices

Rita's character is a breath of fresh air for Bryant and he begins to care about someone, or something for that matter, for the first time since his wife left him. As each begins to wake up to life in their own way, the story comes to a close as an inspiring tale of self discovery and of the power choice that comes through education. In my opinion was Rita very freewheeling and acute oservations, and - let's be honest - by Rita herself, Frank also feels a deep sadness as he watches her warm impulsive reactions being replaced by the sort of cold analytical approach he so much loathes in other students and colleagues

Talent vs experience speech

So if you haven’t a talent, but you have a real intention, you can achieve anything you want even if it seems impossible. Finally, If you have both: talent and experience, it is the best way to succeed in your work. Like Irving Berling has said: “Talent is only the starting point“. If you have a talent and you work with it, you can reach further . A good example is a 13- years-old Estonian freestyle skier Kelly Sildaru. She has trained freestyle skiing since she was 2 years old and now she is one of the best of the wold. Surely she has a talent, but if she hadn’t trained so much, she wouldn’t be there, where she is now. To sum it up, in order to be successful in your life you have to work with your dream. Talent is a very good starting point but only with talent you can’t succeed. And even if you don’t have a talent, it doesn’t mean you can’t achieve anything, you just have to work with it and bring your dreams to life.

"Legal english vs everyday english" speech

Secondly, legal language includes some very complex linguistic practices of an ancient profession, so maybe the best way to sound like a professional is to use as much legal vocabulary as possible. There are literally thousands of terms to choose from. No one will doubt that you are a real professional if you use the right expressions. Body 2: That brings us to a fact that regular people have been frustrated with legal language for quite some time since it can sometimes be confusing and unnecessary. There is a smaller chance that your document will be misunderstood when plain language is used. And if your documents give instructions, your client is more likely to understand and follow them correctly. For example, a lease tries to regulate the way a tenant uses a property. That purpose cannot be achieved if the tenant cannot understand the lease. So lets be honest, having a tenant comply with a lease is so much better than taking

or new offices. The size of loan in relation to the specific use will help the lender evaluate your loan request. Conditions also include the national, industry level, and local economic situation. A volatile or unstable economic situation can negatively impact the evaluation. However, positive expectations can increase the likelihood of obtaining the loan. Character is the obligation that a borrower feels to repay the loan. Since there is not an accurate way to judge character, the lender will decide subjectively whether or not you are sufficiently trustworthy to repay the loan. The lender will investigate your payment history, review a credit bureau report, and consider your educational background and experience in business. The quality of your references and the background and experience of your employees will also be considered.

suicide. From his point of view these are the only solutions but he is not thinking about Lotte. Although she denies it Werther was much loved by her, he just did not try hard enough to win over her heart. Werther believes that the only way to end his sorrows is to commit suicide but he doesn't have enough positivity to keep on fighting for the love of his life. "Sometimes I don't understand how another can love her, is allowed to love her, since I love her so completely myself, so intensely, so fully, grasp nothing, know nothing, have nothing but her!" Old Tallinn

Despite all this conquering, Tallinn’s historic core has survived remarkably intact. Much of the 14th century city wall still stands, including a couple of stretches where you can climb the narrow spiral staircases of the towers and end up on the medieval catwalk. The Viru Gates, flanked by thin pointed towers from the 14th century, makes a nice entrance into Old Town. Dominating the town atop Toompea Hill is Toompea Castle and Pikk Hermann Tower. It was used as the center of government since 1229 and is now the site of Estonia’s parliament. Nearby stands the inappropriately named Maiden’s Tower that used to house a prison for prostitutes. There are several interesting old houses of worship. The oldest is the atmospheric and very chilly Dominican Monastery from 1246. There is also The Holy Spirit Church with its colorful Renaissance clock, elaborate altar, and painted pews. The 13th century St. Nicholas got bombed in World War II but

grandmother's home in Rochester, Pennsylvania, a suburb outside of Pittsburgh. According to both Aguilera and Fidler, her father was very controlling, as well as physically and emotionally abusive.[16] She later wrote about her difficult childhood in the songs "I'm OK" in Stripped, and "Oh Mother" in Back to Basics. Although her father has written to Aguilera, she has ruled out any chance to reunite with him.[17] Since then, Fidler has married a paramedic named Jim Kearns, and changed her name.[18] As a child, Aguilera aspired to be a singer. She was known locally as "the little girl with the big voice", singing in local talent shows and competitions.[19][20] According to VH1's Driven, whenever competitors learned they would be up against her in any given week, they would immediately withdraw, prompting insiders to claim it was "like sending a lamb to the slaughter

Oxford University

In 1167, Henry II banned English students from studying in France which made Oxford's popularity grow rapidly. From then on, Oxford was named a real university and got it's first chancellor in 1201. For years, Oxford only accepted male students until four womens' colleges were opened thanks to the Association for Promoting the Higher Education of Women. First of them was Lady Margaret Hall, which was opened in 1878. Women have been able to be full members of the university and to take degrees since 7 October 1920, almost 900 years after the University was established. Nowadays, Oxford has built itself up to be one of the biggest universities in Europe. It has a collegiate system, which means that Oxford has 38 colleges and 6 private halls all over the city of Oxford. The university also has over 100 libraries. The central library is the Bodleian, which ranks in second place right after the British Library for the most volumes.
