Traveling

Traveling is the movement of people or objects (conveyances) between relatively distant geographical locations. Travel may occur by human-powered transport such as walking or bycycling, or with vehicles, such as public transport, automobiles, trains and airplanes. Etymology The term "travel" originates from the Old French word travail. The term also covers all the activites performed during a travel (movement). A person who travels is spelled "traveler" in the United states, and "traveller" in the United Kingdom. Purpose and motivation Reason for traveling include recreation, tourism or vacationing, research travel for gathering information, for holiday to visit people, volunteer travel for charity, migration to begin life somewhere else, religious pilgrimages and mission trips, business travel, trade, commuting, and other reason, such as to obtain health care or fleeing war or for the enjoyment of traveling.

in Prague. 13 GEOGRAPHY The Czech landscape is exceedingly varied. Bohemia, to the west, consists of a basin drained by the Elbe (Czech: Labe) and the Vltava (or Moldau) rivers, surrounded by mostly low mountains, such as the Krkonose range of the Sudetes. The highest point in the country, Snzka at 1,602 m (5,256 ft), is located here. Moravia, the eastern part of the country, is also quite hilly. It is drained mainly by the Morava River, but it also contains the source of the Oder River (Czech: Odra). Water from the landlocked Czech Republic flows to three different seas: the North Sea, Baltic Sea and Black Sea. The Czech Republic also leases the Moldauhafen, a 30,000-square-metre (7.4-acre) lot in the middle of the Hamburg Docks, which was awarded to Czechoslovakia by

Estonian holidays, festivals, cultural events

Holidays, Festivals, Cultural events TALLINN - If you're looking for entertainment in Estonia this summer, you are really spoiled for choice. Festivals and events dedicated to the consumption of beer are a lot of fun, but if you want to get the true feel of the country, you need something a little more ethnic. Like a town fair. Just as July becomes August, the seaside town of Haapsalu will host a grand spectacle of rural Estonian entertainment. The White Lady Days is a summer celebration filled with amusement for all the family. Held in and around the remains of the Teutonic-knights-era castles, the fair combines enchanting medieval legends with modern countryside charm to create a comprehensive experience of Estonia beyond the big cities. But the legend of the White Lady of Haapsalu, which is at the heart of the festival, is perhaps the most famous tall tale

Australian people drive on the left-hand side of the road. For people coming from the USA and Europe this is going to be a big change, so if planning on driving using either a local or international licence, it may help to practise a little before venturing out onto main roads and highways. Another important point is that while in most countries the majority of vehicles are manually geared with only a small percentage of cars being automatic, in Australia this is not the case. Here, fifty percent of vehicles on the road are automatic and fifty percent are manual. This is important to remember, particularly when borrowing or hiring a vehicle. Furthermore, each state in Australia has its own rules and regulations for driving, which involve not only speed limits, but also factors such as seat belt use and child restraints in vehicles. Wildlife Australia is very famous for being the shelter of some of the most dangerous but

five, for example, it is more convenient and less expensive to sit comfortably at home than to go out to find entertainment in other places. They don't have to pay for expensive seats at the theatre or cinema. They turn on the TV-set and can watch interesting films, concerts, football matches. But some people think that it's bad to watch TV. Those who watch TV need do nothing. We are passive when we watch TV. Television shows us many interesting programmes. But again there is a disadvantage here: we watch TV every evening, and it begins to dominate our lives. My friend told me that when his TV-set broke down, he and his family found that they had more time to do things and to talk to each other. There are other arguments for and against television. Very often the programmes are bad. Sometimes they show too much violence in films and news programmes. There is also too much pop music and ads. Ads on the whole are convenient for grown-ups

I'm so glad the inspiration struck twice! 1 "We should head to a bar and celebrate." I wasn't surprised by my roommate's emphatic pronouncement. Cary Taylor found excuses to celebrate, no matter how small and inconsequential. I'd always considered it part of his charm. "I'm sure drinking the night before starting a new job is a bad idea." "Come on, Eva." Cary sat on our new living room floor amid a half-dozen moving boxes and flashed his winning smile. We'd been unpacking for days, yet he still looked amazing. Leanly built, dark-haired, and green-eyed, Cary was a man who rarely looked anything less than absolutely gorgeous on any day of his life. I might have resented that if he hadn't been the dearest person on earth to me. "I'm not talking about a bender," he insisted

Visiting Kenya was fantastic so far! The beaches are absolutely wonderfully. The sea is like glass and the white sand is as soft like powder. I've collected loads of shells already and yesterday I have ridden on an elephant. The local people also are very friendly and almost every night we had the opportunity to watch traditional dancing. You'd love africa. The most excited part of the holiday was hot-air baloon safari last week. It was amazing ! we floated quietly above all these teams of wild animals. The scenery absolutely was breathtaking. I've never seen nothing like it before. As soon as I will get back, I'll phone you and tell you all about it. Till then, take care. They are most commonly found in valleys with wet meadows or swamps. The Giant sunflower grows between July and October. To grow well, sunflowers need full sun. They grow best in fertile, moist, well-drained soil with a lot of mulch. In commercial planting, seeds are planted 45 cm (1.5') apart and 2.5 cm (1") deep. Sunflower "whole seed" (fruit) is sold as snacks and can be processed into a peanut butter alternative, Sunbutter, especially in China, the United States, the Middle East and Europe. In Russia it is probably the most wide spread snack.[citation needed] It is also sold as food for birds and can be used directly in cooking and salads. Sunflower oil, extracted from the seeds, is used for cooking (but is less cardiohealthy than olive oil), as a carrier oil and to produce biodiesel, for which it is less expensive than the olive product. During the 18th Century, the use of sunflower oil became very popular in Europe,

Games Programming with Java and Java 3D

HatYai, Songkhla 90112 E-mail: [email protected] Draft: 14th January 2003, #2 Abstract This article looks at the advantages and disadvantages of using Java and Java 3D for games programming. It assumes the reader is familiar with Java, but presents short overviews of gaming, the low-level APIs OpenGL and DirectX, and Java 3D. No programming examples are included here, although links to online code are supplied. 1. Background to Gaming Giving a definition for `computer game' is problematic, due to the wide range of game types. For example, the ArcadePod site (http://www.arcadePod.com) divides its hundreds of Java games into more than ten categories: 3D games, multiplayer, action, classic, indoor sports, board, outdoor sports, card, mind, casino, educational, and the useful `miscellaneous' catch-all. This makes it difficult to pin down the typical
