human beings. It is apparent that we are
ourselves responsible for the damage to the global environment. If
each of us would do a little bit of good for the environment then
problems will be less bad if not lost at all.

While there are many definitions for outdoor education, I think the best way to describe it would be outdoor education is a form of education, when learning takes place somewhere else than a classroom and the subjects are not only about the environment and nature but also linked to the national curriculum. Outdoor education often takes place on a walk around the block, a visit to the cemetery or a local post office. It can happen at a city zoo, on a forest trail, or in a national park. These kinds of locations are conducive to first- hand experiences and these places can provide direct contact with the topic and also learning this way can help participants interact and socialize. ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS Our environment is constantly changing. However, as our environment changes, so does the need to become increasingly aware of the problems that surround it. With a massive influx of natural disasters people need to be aware of what types of environmental problems our planet is facing. Current environmental problems make us vulnerable to disasters and tragedies, now and in the future. Unless we address the various issues seriously we are surely doomed for disaster. Current environmental problems require urgent attention. 1
Kodutöö 1 17.09 1. What is site-specificity and Genius Loci (spirit of place)? Site-specificity is an abstract understanding of place/site what is used to manifest “best” qualities of it. Usually this term is used when nature, vocation and all spheres what around the place are analyzed and object (art object, building or installation) fits perfect in this place. Object needs to be in harmony (balanced) with the environment. Site-specificity is place character or atmosphere what human can feel but can’t scientifically measured. As I understood site-specificity is all what surrounds it: nature as greenery, nature as weather (climate), traditions of humans, history of the place, etc. Genius Loci is the spirit of place. How I understood Genius Loci is the idea that every a human has his own place in this world and every human needs to identify himself.
Therefore, humans should stop hunting endangered species to slow down their extinction, as these species offer balance in the wildlife, are used without purpose in medicine, and may even reduce poverty. Species on the brink of extinction affect us more than we realize. Sure, pandas are cute, and rhinos are fun to look at, but is there anything more to that? All animals and plants form a very important part of our ecosystem that also includes our lands and waters. Remove one part from the environment and damage will be done. For example, after the last wolves were killed in Yellowstone Park in 1926, problems began to emerge. During the 70 years before wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone Park there were many problems with the rise in deer population, conditions of the park were impaired by erosionding land and eradicating all kind of greenery. In 1995, the reintroduction of the wolves fixed the problems. The natural situation was
started to venture onto dry land. It would perhaps crawl a few inches at first, then exhausted by the enormous gravitational pull of the planet, it would return to the water, where gravity is almost nonexistent and where it could live with much greater ease. And then it tried again and again and again, and much later would adapt to life on land, grow feet instead of fins, develop lungs instead of gills. It seems unlikely that a species would venture into such an alien environment and undergo an evolutionary transformation unless it was compelled to do so by some crisis situation. There may have been a large sea area that got cut off from the main ocean where the water gradually receded over thousands of years, forcing fish to leave their habitat and evolve. Responding to a radical crisis that threatens our very survival – this is humanity’s challenge now. The dysfunction of the egoic human mind,

Global warming Global warming, also known as the greenhouse effect, immediately received international attention. Scientists, environmentalists, and governments around the world took an interest in the subject. Global warming is called the greenhouse effect because the gases that are gathering above the earth make the planet comparable to a greenhouse. By trapping heat near the surface of the earth, the greenhouse effect is warming the planet and threatening the environment. Many scientists criticized Mr. Hansen's report, and the debate over global warming continues today. Current fears stem largely from the fact that global warming is occurring at such a rapid pace. Models are predicting that over the next century, the global temperature will rise by several degrees.
