Estonian holidays, festivals, cultural events

Holidays, Festivals, Cultural events TALLINN - If you're looking for entertainment in Estonia this summer, you are really spoiled for choice. Festivals and events dedicated to the consumption of beer are a lot of fun, but if you want to get the true feel of the country, you need something a little more ethnic. Like a town fair. Just as July becomes August, the seaside town of Haapsalu will host a grand spectacle of rural Estonian entertainment. The White Lady Days is a summer celebration filled with amusement for all the family. Held in and around the remains of the Teutonic-knights-era castles, the fair combines enchanting medieval legends with modern countryside charm to create a comprehensive experience of Estonia beyond the big cities. But the legend of the White Lady of Haapsalu, which is at the heart of the festival, is perhaps the most famous tall tale of the many that are so abundant in Estonia's folklore.

The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is Tallinn's largest and grandest orthodox cupola cathedral. It is dedicated to Saint Alexander Nevsky who in 1242 won the Battle of the Ice on Lake Peipus, in the territorial waters of present-day Estonia. The late Russian patriarch, Alexis II, started his priestly ministry in the church. Interior of the Cathedral. The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral crowns the hill of Toompea where the Estonian folk hero Kalevipoeg is said to have been buried according to a legend. (There are many such legendary burial places of him in Estonia.) The cathedral was built during the period of late 19th century Russification and was so disliked by many Estonians as a symbol of oppression that the Estonian authorities scheduled the cathedral for demolition in 1924, but the decision was never implemented due to lack of funds and the building's massive construction. as a springboard to become interested in joining a team sport. Numerous studies have shown that children who participate in a team sport are less likely to become involved in drugs. Sports increases the awareness of health and the need to take care of the body. Sports also give kids a positive outlet for frustrations and energy, a place to make friends who are positive influences, and a place to be a leader so kids are less likely to succumb to peer pressure. Only about 1/3 of all Estonian children have regular physical exercises outside the school. That means playing sport at least twice a week. Most schools in Estonia only have two P.E lessons a week and that's not enough compared with 2 -4 h a day that students spend on the internet or watching TV. Football ,basketball ,track and field ,judo ,swimming ,tennis and volleyball are most popular sports in whole world. SONG FETIVAL The Estonian Song Festival is one of the largest in the world. It is

(Stranga, 2021) Estonias current population is 1 327 100 and the city with the largest population is Tallinn with 394 000 people. The population density of Estonia is 31 people per km2. (Estonia Demographics, s.a) One of the most cherished national symbols of Estonia is the blue-black-white colour national flag. The Estonian flag was born in the national-romantic student circles of the University of Tartu during the final quarter of the 19th century. The blue, black and white tricolour was consecrated by the members of the Society of Estonian Students in Otepää on 4 June 1884. The central motif of the state coat of arms, three blue lions on a golden shield, is among the oldest symbols of Estonia. It stems from the coats of arms of the Knighthood of Harrien Vironia and Tallinn

Town, near the harbour. During the reconstruction of the gate in the early 16th century, the cannon tower Fat Margaret was added. The round tower, with 155 loopholes, a diameter of 25 meters, and a height of about 20 meters, was built to protect the harbour. It got its name from the fact that it was indeed the stoutest tower in the city wall. Through history, the cannon tower has also served as a storehouse for gunpowder and weapons, and as a prison. Fat Margaret now houses the Estonian Maritime Museum. The viewing platform on the roof affords a lovely view onto the Old Town and the bay. The Down Hall Tallinn's original Town Hall was established sometime in the 13th Century, and was replaced by the current Gothic monument, hewn from limestone, in 1402-1404. The Hall served its function as the home of the city administration for an incredible 700 years, right up until 1970. It remains an incredible building inside and out. Japanese festivals

Japanese festivals Japanese festivals are traditional festive occasions. Some festivals have their roots in Chinese festivals but have undergone dramatic changes as they mixed with local customs. Some are so different that they do not even remotely resemble the original festival despite sharing the same name and date. There are also various local festivals (e.g. Tobata Gion) that are mostly unknown outside a given prefecture. It is commonly said that you will always find a festival somewhere in Japan. Matsuri is the Japanese word for a festival or holiday. In Japan, festivals are usually sponsored by a local shrine or temple, though they can be secular. There is no specific matsuri days for all of Japan; dates vary from area to area, and even
