Estonia traditional costumes

Here people were first to adopt fashionable elements, like breeches and coat suit for men, vertically striped skirts for women, and the indigo colour of fabric. Following the fashion of caps among people of higher social standing, which was also quite common in Estonian towns, the peasant women in the vicinity of Tallinn started to wear pot-caps in the second half of the 18th century. The most characteristic feature of Northern Estonian folk costumes was a short loose long- sleeved midriff blouse over a sleeveless shirt. Northern Estonian maidens adorned their heads with chaplets. These were bands made either from cardboard or wood shavings, covered with coloured silk or woollen cloth and decorated with spangles and tinsel. The girls wore multicoloured silk ribbons at the nape. West Estonia This region shows similar features to the north and south. Sleeves were worn only on

Women's outfit consists of a striped skirt, white blouse and a hat called 'tanu'(coif). Some prides wear a brooch around their neck. It's a feature, which represents fertile age. The stripes and other small details show the origin of the item. Children usually wear just white linen shirt and trouses or a skirt. When it's cold, they put on a black coat. Before they could knock or even think, the door flew open! A large pumpkin stood before them! Ben and John shouted and jumped back with a start! John turned to run away. "Wait! Happy Halloween vampire and zombie!" the large pumpkin said, laughing. "Great costumes! Don't you two want some candy?" John said, "Hey, I remember that voice! I know who you are! You're aunt Mary!" Aunt Mary said, smiling: "That's right, and you're John. You and Ben are my first guests tonight. How about some treats?" A little while later, Ben and John called out "Thanks! haunted attractions, playing pranks, telling scary stories, watching horror films, as well as praying and attending vigils or church services.Trick-or- treating is a customary celebration for children on Halloween. Children go in costume from house to house, asking for treats such as candy or sometimes money, with the question, "Trick or treat?" The word "trick" refers to a "threat" to perform mischief on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given .Halloween costumes are traditionally modeled after supernatural figures such as monsters, ghosts, skeletons, witches, and devils.Because the holiday comes in the wake of the annual apple harvest, candy apples, caramel or taffy apples are common Halloween treats made by rolling whole apples in a sticky sugar syrup, sometimes followed by rolling them in nuts.

They infiltrade to the same high school were they studyed. At the end of the film they got the drug dealers and get best friends. I think the actors did good job. Both leading characters fit perfectly to the film. Those good- looking's (Channing Tatum) and pudgy nerd's (Johan Hill) dialogues were funny and hilarious. They are very good and professionals actors, that is why the characters were played well. The locations and costumes were fine and there is nothing to disparage. 21 Jump Street is a very good comedy film. In that movie is erveything what to wish for a one good American comedy. I recommend that film to everybody who like funny films and want to laugh. Also I recommend that to my friends and all in-my-age teenagers.

Countering

It's one of our traditions. But public transport is expensive and inconvenient. But English has borrowed from the Romans, the Vikings, the Saxons and the French But freight trains can't deliver goods from door to door But who can say that we will develop into civilized beings? Surely, God has the right to cut his losses! But why play the gold medalists' national anthems and why wear stars and stripes on your swimming costumes? But if you worked on a farm and your chickens were killed by foxes, you'd think differently. But if you detect more crimes, you'll still need prisons. But if you followed that line to its logical conclusion, you'd pardon all criminals. But surely, you can see what you're getting in the holiday brochure. But surely, if you raise benefits too high, people wouldn't bother to work.

Tartu Hanseatic Days

For three days the Old Town of Tartu is filled with Hanseatic merchants and different workshops. People dress up in different medieval clothes and have a great time. The Hanseatic days are held so people could test their skills, learn more about their history and just have fun. Before the festival can start people set up tents and workshops in the Old Town. Some stalls are set up on the streets while others are located in the courtyards of historical buildings. People also make or buy costumes for the festival. Some dress up as simple peasants while others prefer to play merchants, soldiers and knights. During the festival the Old Town of Tartu is divided into three areas, each representing a different historical era. Most of the events take place in Jaani town which takes people back into the hanseatic times. The streets are filled with stalls where artisans are selling their products and there are also many different activities for children and adults

In the Prison break, there wasn't many costumes, they worn ordinary clothes, but the clothes were choosed perfectly. This film or serial wasn't regular, because it was different from the others. Bollywood is the largest film producer in India and one of the largest centers of film production in the world. Bollywood films are multi-million dollar productions, with the most expensive productions costing up to 100 crores rupees (roughly USD 20 million). Sets, costumes, special effects, and cinematography were less than world-class up until the mid-to-late 1990s, although with some notable exceptions. Bollywood sold 3.6 billion tickets and had total revenues (theatre tickets, DVDs, television etc.) of US$1.3 billion, whereas Hollywood films sold 2.6 billion tickets and generated total revenues (again from all formats) of US$51 billion. The fifth element

There was this usual Bruce Willis type of humour, also this young Leeloo who firstly didn't know anything and acted like a baby and also there was this really annoying character- DJ Ruby Rhod. It was quite unusual to combine real serious plot (destroying life) to comedy so it wasn't an usual science fiction. Compare to ohter this type of films this was actually quite enjoyable even though the plot was really predictable. The thing what was really ridiculous was these silly costumes. Usually the aliens should look scary, but in this film you just can't stop laughing at them and this blue singing diva? Theres no way you can take her seriously. The only scary thing was maybe the voice of the ultimate evil character. But besides funny moments there is also some action going. To sum up I would say that it's that kind of film where you don't have to follow the plot too much. It's not a scary or very serious movie, rather amusing after a long day. Also it's

The Goblin strangles his master and sets his farm on fire. In the end, the Goblin dies, too. But the positive thing is that the love story of two young people stays alive and they are happy together. "The Goblin" was an outstanding performance. All the dancers had excellent dancing skills and emotionally strong influence, the decorations and costumes were great. Moreover, the breathtaking music was based completely on the Estonian folclore and helped to imagine all the dancers' emotions. It was a contemporary ballet, that included elements of classical ballet and modern dance. It does not have fixed rules and because of that it is easier to show real feelings and emotions. It was also quite extraordinary and interesting, that in one scene there took part the National female chorus.

Many other places have important Mardi Gras celebrations as well. It is a federal holiday in Alabama, Florida and in 8 counties of Lousiana. History In 1829, some young men returned to New Orleans, Louisiana, from a visit to Paris. Carrying on a lively French custom, they dressed in costumes and masks and paraded through the narrow streets of the French Quarter of New Orleans. More people joined and followed them until they caught the attention of the ladies of the town, who leaned over their balconies and threw chocolates and kisses to them. From that time on, masked walking parades became fashionable in New Orleans in the springtime. The festivals became more organized in 1857 when a group of people calling themselves "The

Setomaa

In the autumn of 1921 Seto people were for the first time ever given surnames. Since 1944,the western part of Setomaa belongs to the Republic of Estonia and the eastern part to the Russian Federation. This kind of division is the source of the Setos' burning problems: the split-up congregations, location of properties and relatives on the other side of the state border. The Setos have preserved their original dialect, skills of cooking their traditional food, their beautiful and peculiar folk costumes. The most attractive decoration to go with the folk costume is the set of silver jewellery: numerous necklaces and a conic brooch worn by married women. The handicraft of Seto women is fine and colourful. Seto people are known for their original runic verse folk song - leelo. A Leelo choir consists of a chanter and the choir. The chanter is a good improviser. The verses recited by the chanter are repeated by the choir. One of the singers in the choir sings the kille - the highest pitch

Christianity in Estonia, although named by the crusaders. The most common tradition associated with those holidays is the lighting of the bonfire and jumping over it. It was seen as a way of guaranteeing prosperity and avoiding bad luck. On Shrove Tuesday, in February or March, adults seize the chance to go sledging together with the children, on the pretext of the old custom. On St. Martin's Day (10 Nov) and St. Catherine's Day (25 Nov), children in costumes go from house to house, earning sweets with their singing and dancing.

Tallinn Old Town

http://www.tourism.tallinn.ee/eng/fpage/explore/attractions/old_town #!p_174824 Song Celebrations and Song Festival traditions Song Celebrations and Song Festival traditions are among the best known trademarks of Estonia. No wonder, as the scale of our Song festivals is unique in the world. Once every five years, the Estonian song festival grounds (Lauluväljak in Tallinn) are filled with folk costumes and smiling people. Imagine tens of thousands of singers forming one huge choir and hundreds of thousands of people sitting on the grass to hear traditional choir music no wonder it shocks, surprises and mesmerises overseas visitors! What makes it even more special is that, due to the small population of Estonia, there are less than million Estonian speakers and yet, a tenth of them attend the event. Long established

Estonian holidays, festivals, cultural events

Festivals often close with choirs of around 25,000 taking part in an electrifying finale, in front of an openair audience of about 100,000. The festival takes place at the beginning of July, and it's common for many Estonians to take the week off work and travel to Tallinn to join in the celebrations. Visitors from other countries converge in Tallinn to experience the powerful singing, lively dances and intricate, colourful folk costumes at first hand. If you're interested in seeing this spectacular live performance, or maybe even taking part in a festival, the next event happens in 2004, 2009 and 2013. The song festivals began in 1869, part of the romantic and nationalist movement in Europe. They developed a network of interactions among people along with making folk customs more widely known and practiced. The solidarity that the

One of the nosiest and most crowded of New Year's Eve celebrations takes place in Times Square, New York City. Many people travel from one party to another to celebrate with several different groups of friends. Following a long exciting New Year's Eve Americans spend a quiet New Year's Day. One famous New Year's Day festival is the Mummer's Parade. It takes place in Philadelphia. It is a ten hour spectacle. The mummer's parade is colourful and high-spirited. Men dress in splendid costumes. The tournament of roses takes place in Pasadena, California. All these events help to make the New Year's Day relaxing holiday. On new years day people talk about turning a new leaf. Many Americans make new years resolutions promising themselves to improve their behaviour. Typical resolutions are to spend less money, give up smoking, begin a diet or control one's temper 7) HALLOWEEN Every year on October 31, Hallowe'en, or all souls' eve is celebrated in the United States and Canada

apartment in Paris, where they later had a son. At the invitation of Wassily Kandinsky, Delaunay joined The Blue Rider (Der Blaue Reiter), a Munich-based group of abstract artists, in 1911, and his art took a turn for the abstract. The outbreak of World War I found Delaunay and his wife vacationing in Spain, and they settled with friends in Portugal for the duration of the conflict. During this period, the couple took on several jobs designing costumes for the Madrid Opera, and Sonia Delaunay started a fashion design business. After the war, in 1921, they returned to Paris. Delaunay continued to work in a mostly abstract style. During the 1937 World Fair in Paris, Delaunay participated in the design of the railway and air travel pavilions. When World War II erupted, the Delaunays moved to the Auvergne, in an effort to avoid the invading German forces. Suffering from

Those months of December were a veritable paradise to Kipling; North End House was constantly brimming with visiting friends and relatives, and the homey and artistic effects of the affectionate couple were everywhere. Their home echoed with laughter and the patter of little feet or was eerily hushed as the children raptly listened to fantastic stories told by Edward. They also played the organ, sang songs, dressed up in costumes and acted out plays. In January 1878 Kipling was admitted to the United Services College, at Westward Ho!, Devon, a school founded a few years earlier to prepare boys for the armed forces. The school proved rough going for him at first, but later led to firm friendships, and provided the setting for his schoolboy stories Stalky & Co. published many years later.[22] During his time there, Kipling also met and fell in love with Florence
