The Importance of Being Earnest The story is based on a book called "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde. The play is directed by Peter Joucla and produced by Grantly Marshall. It is played by the American Drama Group Europe. This is a theatre group that travels around the world, so people can see many different plays and performances in English. The play tells the story of two men. One of them, Jack, lives in the country but loves to go to London once in a while. Jack's friend Algernon lives in London but, vice versa, likes to get away from the urbanism
Tartu 2009 Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde was an Irish playwright, poet and author of numerous short stories and one novel. Known for his biting wit, he became one of the most successful playwrights of the late Victorian era in London, and one of the greatest celebrities of his day. Several of his plays continue to be widely performed, especially The Importance of Being Earnest. As the result of a widely covered series of trials, Wilde suffered a dramatic downfall and was imprisoned for two years hard labour after being convicted of "gross indecency" with other men. After Wilde was released from prison he set sail for Dieppe by the night ferry. He never returned to Ireland or Britain. In 1883, Irish-born Oscar Wilde returned to London bursting with exuberance from a year long lecture tour of the United States and Canada

Review : The importance of being earnest The play is directed by Peter Joucla and the producer is Grantly Marshall . The play itself is written by Oscar Wilde . Jack looks like an ordinary guy from the countryside who pretends to have a brother in London whose name is Ernest . Actually his friends in London know him as Ernest and in the country as Jack. Jack was caught by his best friend Algernon who found his cigar box , in which the name Ernest had been written . Algernon also created himself an imaginary friend called Bunbury. The reason is to have an opportunity to escape from the countryside social life to the city . Things turn bad when Jack falls in love with Gwendolyn who has an obsession to marry with a guy whose name is Ernest. Once , when they meet in the countryside at his aunt Cecily's , Jack had a lot of explaining to do , because his best friend Algeron who is pretending to be Ernest also went Cecily's...
Protestant and an eastern Orthodox Church. Like the mainstream culture in the other Nordic countries, Estonian culture can be seen to build upon the ascetic environmental realities and traditional livelihoods, a heritage of comparatively widespread egalitarianism out of practical reasons (see e.g.: Everyman's right and universal suffrage), and the ideals of closeness to nature and self-sufficiency. Estonian culture developed in earnest during the nineteenth-century period of national awakening. Elements of Estonian peasant culture, such as songs and folktales, were brought together by the country's first cultural elite after 1850. Between 1857 and 1861, Friedrich Reinhold Kreutzwald compiled and published the Estonian national epic, Kalevipoeg (Son of Kalev), which was based on various folklore themes. Written in verse, the epic tells the story of Kalevipoeg, the mythical ancient ruler of Estonia.
While they were no doubt entertaining films, fans of the book would have expected more and so would I. The book had a depth and a feeling, that was to me, lost in the movie. Page after page, I was riveted. His mis- adventures were more real, more painful, more lonely somehow - even though he was all of that in the movie too. His ambition was driven by more than love. And through all his life, his personality shone through. He was earnest, street-wise, innocent, likeable, and always, unassumingly profound. He learned from his experiences, but was prone to making the same mistakes. And I ended the book, feeling like I have lived a thousand lives. The movie just ended with a signature Bollywood song and dance. My take on this is obvious - if you've read the book and haven't seen the movie, expect it to be a completely different story. But if you've done it the other way around, read the book, forget about

The Jackal had to make many difficult decisions during the hunt, what were a matter of life and death and he always chose the one, which let him live. I think that in his private life he was very handsome and gentlemanlike. He tried not to link his private life and work, but in one case he did and that nearly cost his life. The Jackal's personality was doubled - first was what he was like at work and the other in his normal life, the last one is based on my opinion. He was very persevering and earnest during he was at work, but caring when not. His opponent was Claude Lebel, a very intelligent man, who was deeply specialised in tracking and detective job. He was hand-picked by the French intelligent to find out the real identity of the Jackal and his location. He was as professional as the Jackal, but hard-pressed by the government of France. Lebel and the Jackal are actually extremely similar, they think alike, but on different purposes

Character sketch – Georgie Anthony Birgess – A Clockwork Orange I am going to talk about a character from the book „A Clockwork Orange“ written by Anthony Birgess. First of all Georgie was a memember of the protagonist’s Alex’s gang. The gang had three memember who were teenage criminals: Dim, Pete and Georgie. They robbed people, beat men and raped women. Georgie was extremely ambitious, agressive, determined, earnest and energetic. But also he was quite quiet and did things as his friends did. He quite often didn’t have his own opinion in anything. But on the otherhand he was the one lead the rebellion against Alex. When Alex got out of the jail the last time all of his friends, rivals and also his victims turned against him. Georgie was interesten in violence for the sake of financial gain, unlike Alex, who was interested in violence just for the pure sake of violence
aastatel 1871-1937.

With reference to Hueck House, there were a number of spirit and ghost stories and also legends in the Middle Ages. Most of the stories are about the spirit of a monk who was immured in the house and is now restlessly wandering around in the night. Even as late as in 1959 there were still earnest heirs asking "Is the monk still showing himself?" One questioner had heard a story from the people of the house about the beautiful Margaret, daughter of Hueck, who a young monk had had a crush on. However, as Hueck had given his daughter to a rich Lübeck merchant, then the monk had stayed to wait for his love with "eternal fidelity and longing love". Although the legend is based on some historical facts, the truth has become distorted during centuries. 9 30 Lai Street

Othello questions Iago as to whether it was Cassio he saw and Iago responds that surely Cassio would not act so guiltily. Desdemona begins her entreaties to Othello to speak with Cassio. He agrees, but not fully and not with a specific time. He appears distracted. After Iago and Othello are alone again, Iago begins in earnest his infusion of doubt into Othello’s mind. He reminds him of how Cassio was the go between during Othello’s courtship of Desdemona and begins to plant small, indiscriminant thoughts of adultery in Othello’s mind, pretending to be reluctant to answer questions and being very circuitous. Othello begins to show his own doubts, declaring Desdemona does not love him any more and that maybe her father was right in that her love for him was unnatural and unhealthy, that he was not good for her

Increasingly detailed views of the planet from the Earth inspired speculation about its environment and possible life, even intelligent civilizations that might be found there. Probes sent from Earth beginning in the late 20th century have dramatically increased the knowledge of the Martian system. Engineering interplanetary journeys is very complicated, so roughly two
Though heightened security has put an end to the easier days, it is relatively easy for a resident of Juárez to obtain a U.S. border-crossing card, which permits short trips for social visits or shopping, and there is nothing illegal about crossing while pregnant -- at least for now. While American nationality has always been a desirable asset in Juárez, it has become much more valuable -- sometimes a matter of life and death -- since the drug violence erupted in earnest three years ago. The children would eventually be able to attend better schools, find better jobs and, if necessary, seek haven. The war began in Juárez around 2008. Since then, conflict has spread across much of Mexico's north, as various cartels, street gangs and crooked police units battle in a void of legitimate authority. President Felipe Calderón has tried to smash the cartels by deploying the army, and he has sent thousands of soldiers into Juárez. The assault has

And truly I should have taken Sir Robert Filmer's Patriarcha, as any other treatise, which would persuade all men, that they are slaves, and ought to be so, for such another exercise of wit, as was his who writ the encomium of Nero; rather than for a serious discourse meant in earnest, had not the gravity of the title and epistle, the picture in the front of the book, and the applause that followed it, required me to believe, that the author and publisher were both in earnest. I therefore took it into my hands with all the expectation, and read it through with all the attention due to a treatise that made such a noise at its coming abroad, and cannot but confess my self mightily surprised, that in a book, which was to provide chains for all mankind, I

Kui 1895. aastal Alziiri läks, arvasid kõik, et ta oli põgenenud ning hakkasid teda järsku halvustama. Hoolimata oma sõprade hoiatusest saabus ta 1895. aasta veebruaris oma näidendi ,,The Importance of Being Earnest" esietendusele Londonisse.

"You said that Rosalie and Emmett will get married soon... Is that... marriage... the same as it is for humans?" He laughed in earnest now, understanding. "Is that what you're getting at?" I fidgeted, unable to answer. "Yes, I suppose it is much the same," he said. "I told you, most of those human desires are there, just hidden behind more powerful desires." "Oh," was all I could say. “VERY IMPORTANT”) 7. Obviously it is the intention of the American Government to conspire with Great Britain and other countries to obstruct Japan’s efforts toward the establishment of peace through the creation of a New Order in East Asia, and especially to preserve Anglo-American rights and interests by keeping Japan and China at war. This intentiona has been revealed clearly during the course of the present negotiations. Thus the earnest hope of the Japanese Government to adjust Japanese-American relations and to preserve and promote the peace of the Pacific through cooperation with the American Government has finally been lost. The Japanese Government regrets to have to notify hereby the American Government that in view of the attitude of the American Government it cannot but consider that it is impossible to reach an agreement through further negotiations.

The lecture itself was presided over by two earnest young men and was designed to recruit new members into the program. The men claimed that the program of- fered a unique brand of meditation (TM) which would allow us to achieve all man- ner of desirable things, ranging from simple inner peace to more spectacular abilities-to fly and pass through walls-at the program's advanced (and more ex- pensive) stages (see Figure 301). evidence is lacking. More feasibly early british breeders may have outcrossed early Siamese imports to longhaired cats or to shorthaired cats which had a recessive gene for longhair. Possibly they were crossed with Turkish Angoras, another breed popular at the time. After many years of hiding their existence, a "Longhair Siamese" was registered with the Cat Fanciers Federation in 1928, however they were not bred in earnest until 1955 when Marion Dorsey began breeding and showing the longer-haired variety in the USA. Since long hair is a recessive trait, these long-haired Siamese bred true. To keep it separate from the conventional shorthaired Siamese it required a new name. "Balinese" was chosen to reflect its grace, like that of Balinese dancers, and also because Bali is close to Thailand and this reflects the breed's links with its Siamese ancestors.

Second reply Waismann (1965a: 158) anticipates an objection of this kind. He hints at a competing reply: that genuine language-games are "integrat[ed] . . . into life." By contrast, the parlor-game words, like chess moves and tennis shots, "bear a far less close relation to life than words used in earnest." A language-game cannot be encapsulated, something that we keep at arm's length and play just when we feel like it. Rejoinder But some language-games, such as the telling of shaggy-dog jokes, are encapsulated and played only occasionally and at will. Also, even if we agree that more serious, multipurpose language-games are thoroughly integrated into life, we usually think of that close, integrative relation as that of refer-
