Speech: Ideas are our greatest weapons

Speech: Ideas are our greatest weapons Hello class and classmates, I would like to open up my speech with a quote that I find really amazing: „The pen is mightier than the sword”. Sadly I don't know whose it is, but it means, that not every war has to be fought with swords and weapons, coming up with an idea about something that isn't violent might be a lot easier way to conquer in life. I think that all of you know that every tool, weapon, Everything that surrounds us, has started with an idea. That shouldn't be new for you. Some people might find it hard to believe, but even the most common things- like chairs, walls, even a pack of bread has been an idea once. Someone had

It was primarily used to transport trading goods. weapons For Vikings, weapons were not only used for battle, but they were also used to show each individual's own wealth and social status. For this reason, most Viking weapons were decorated with precious gems which made them very valuable The main offensive weapons were the spear, sword, and battle axe. Trummid kontsert Tallinnas Suvel käisin Trummid kontserdil, mis toimus 11.juunil Vabaduse väljakul. Üritus sai alguse 14.00, ise jõudsin sinna kella kolmest. Kontserdile läksin sellepärast et saada vapustavat elamust. Esinesid seal siis Sveitsi trummijumala Jojo Mayeriga, Massif Drum Off , Toe Tag ning Eesti suurim noorte trummiorkester Trumm-It koos Malcolm Lincolni, Inglismaalt pärit professionaalse prügibändi Weapons of Soundi. Esimeseks esituseks oli Massif Drum Off Kalle Karu vs DJ Paul Oja. Esinemise käigus selgidati välja kumb on parem kas Dj või trummar. Nad tegid kahepeale kokku remix'i kaasaegsest muusikast, mis oli vägagi meeltmööda mulle

The Relations Between The USA and Iraq

1980s The Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988) was one of a series of crises during an era of upheaval in the Middle East. In mid-September 1980 Iraq attacked Iran, in the mistaken belief that Iranian political disarray would guarantee a quick victory. The U.S., having decided that an Iranian victory would not serve its interests, began supporting Iraq. In 1984 the U.S restored full diplomatic relations with Iraq. At same time U.S. began sharing intelligence and selling weapons to Iran. In 1986 the USA increased the aid to Iraq. In early 1988, Iraq's relations with the United States were generally friendly. In the end of 1988 the Center for Strategic and International Studies began a 2 year study predicting the outcome of a war between U.S and Iraq, at the same time Saddam Hussein announced $40 billion plan to peacefully rebuild Iraq. By October 1989, when all international banks had cut off loans to Iraq, the president of the U.S. George H. W. Bush signed National

The most common crimes: More and more teenages are being arrested for narcotic drug crimes, including the use of weapons in crimes. Older teenagers had higher violent crime victimization than did younger teenagers. Why? There are many ways to minimise teenage crime. Possible solutions 1. We have to enlarge collaboration with teenages. 2. More hobbies for them like sport or music 3. catch them in to joint action 4. more different interesting opportunities 5. Practice different social skills with him/her, such as greeting others, "breaking the ice," asking questions, and listening well

It was the Europeans' cultural arrogance, coupled with their materialistic view of the land and its animal and plant beings, that the Indians found repellent. Europeans, in sum, were regarded as something mechanical - soulless creatures who wielded diabolically ingenious tools and weapons to accomplish mad ends. The Europeans brought with them not only a desire and will to conquer the new continent for all its material richness, but they also brought with them diseases that hit the Indians hard. Conflicts developed between the Native Americans and the Invaders, the latter arriving in overwhelming numbers, as many "as the stars in heaven". Although not much waste is produced, it is very, very dangerous. It must be sealed up and buried for many thousands of years. For all that time it must be kept safe from earthquakes, flooding, terrorists and everything else. This is difficult. Nuclear power is reliable, but a lot of money has to be spent on safety - if it does go wrong, a nuclear accident can be a major disaster. One of the most feared disadvantages of nuclear energy is the potential for weapons. Each year, every nuclear reactor is capable of making enough plutonium to build over thirty nuclear bombs. Nuclear plants must be secured well enough to prevent this material from falling into the wrong hands.

It has been a site of imprisonment and execution of many traitors, clergymen, nobles and framed members of the royal court and was also an armory, treasury, zoo and mint. Today it houses the crown jewels and has a museum filled with armor, weapons and implements of torture. Another popular tourist sight is the London eye. Constructed by British Airways, it towers 135 meters above the banks of the Thames River. It is located near Big Ben and Westminster Abbey, on the opposite bank, adjacent to London's county hall. Then Japan entered the war. Later, Italy and the United States would enter on the side of the allies. Imperialism: empires got bigger and with that the competition between the empires grew. Everyone wanted more areas for themselves. Militarism: at the start of 20th century, an arms race had started. Nations had more technology and manpower than ever before and started making armies and new weapons. Nationalism: Much of the origin of the war was based on the desire of the Slavic peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina to no longer be part of Austria-Hungary but instead be part of Serbia. But in a more general way, the nationalism of the various countries throughout Europe contributed not only to the beginning but the extension of the war in Europe. Each country tried to prove their dominance and power.

In a word, advanced science and technology has made man master of the globe. As is known to all, each coin has two sides. When we are enjoying the remarkable wonders which science and technology has brought us, we are suffering at the same time from a lot of troubles. For example, environmental pollution, noise, green-house effect and nuclear weapons are the things we did not need to bother about in the past. But these problems nowadays are not only making our life inconvenient, but even dangerous. In my opinion, humans are now relatively more powerful. So it is up to men to decide what we should do and what we shouldn't. It is our duty to make science and technology serve human beings better and better. During the years 1208-1227 there was a war between the joint forces of Estonian tribes and a Christian knights' order ,,Swordbrothers" that led the Estonians to a 500-year slavery. This was the first larger war on Estonians' territory. Estonians used different weapons and armor during that war. Simple weapons like war axes, maces, daggers and spears were smithed by Estonian blacksmiths, but more expensive and exotic weapons like swords, crossbows and most armor (an exception for the basic leather armor) were bought from Russian, Scandinavian or German merchants. Some weapons and most metal armor were taken looted from dead knights on the battlefields, so for the end of the war the Estonians were quite well armoured. But still, as we can see, they lost the war

Carolina and that they will then be even for El killing his men. El, unable to bear another love's death, ejects his pistols from his sleeves as he did earlier in the bar, and shoots Bucho multiple times in the chest at point blank range. El then leaves, telling Carolina that he will thank her someday. Later, as he walks down the road, trying to get a ride, Carolina drives up and tells El to thank her right now. He throws his guitar case of weapons away, gets in and kisses her, and they drive off into the sunset. However, their vehicle immediately reverses back to the case, and El picks it up again, saying, "Just in case." In my opinion the film was very exciting and interesting. I recommend it to people who like films which have a lot of action and thrill. I think that it must have been seen at least once.

One of the interesting innovations that they brough to Britain was the iron plough which changed a lot about the farming(made it easier). Iron changed trade and fostered local independence. However, when analysing their usefulness in war, we also need to take into account the long-term implications of widespread psychological warfare. The Role of the Hippie Movement in 21st Century Britain

The Role of the Hippie Movement in 21st Century Britain The hippies’ primary belief was that life was about being happy, not about what others thought you should be. Their “if it feels good, do it” attitudes included little forethought nor concern for the consequences of their actions. Hippies were dissatisfied with what their parents had built for them. Hippies rejected middle class values, opposed nuclear weapons and the Vietnam War. They embraced aspects of eastern philosophy and desired to find new meaning in life. Hippies were often vegetarian and believed in eco friendly environmental practices. They championed free love and sexual liberation, particularly for women. They also promoted the use of psychedelic drugs which they believed expanded their consciousness. Hippies participated in alternative arts and street theater and listened to folk music and

gamma rays). Fission of heavy elements is an exothermic reaction which can release large amounts of energy both as electromagnetic radiation and as kinetic energy of the fragments (heating the bulk material where fission takes place). Fission is a form of nuclear transmutation because the resulting fragments are not the same element as the original atom. Nuclear fission produces energy for nuclear power and to drive the explosion of nuclear weapons. Both uses are made possible because certain substances called nuclear fuels undergo fission when struck by free neutrons and in turn generate neutrons when they break apart. This makes possible a self-sustaining chain reaction that releases energy at a controlled rate in a nuclear reactor or at a very rapid uncontrolled rate in a nuclear weapon. The amount of free energy contained in nuclear fuel is millions of times the amount of free energy

founded in 1730 which demanded total faith and commitment. Biographers have noted that "a strong sense of the unity of God and nature pervaded Faraday's life and work." In June 1832, the University of Oxford granted Faraday a Doctor of Civil Law degree (honorary). During his lifetime, Faraday rejected a knighthood and twice refused to become President of the Royal Society. When asked by the British government to advise on the production of chemical weapons for use in the Crimean War (1853-1856), Faraday refused to participate citing ethical reasons.Faraday died at his house at Hampton Court on 25 August 1867. He had previously turned down burial in Westminster Abbey, but he has a memorial plaque there, near Isaac Newton's tomb. Faraday was interred in the dissenters' (non-Anglican) section of Highgate Cemetery.

..and probably Danny too..." "But Su, they didn't get us, remember?" "Then we must do them as much harm as we can, they'll catch us sooner or later!" "Leave it to me then! I'm an expert in getting in trouble!" The red-haired girl smiled and wished her sister good luck. Then she hid under the bushes that were quite far away from the house. In the meanwhile Creasha had spotted dad's car. Evil smile on her face, she entered it. She was really surprised over finding a considerable amount of weapons there. Not even thinking she took them with her and stepped out. No one was still around. Then, a pack of matches fell from the weapon-suitcase. "Well, well, well what do we have here?" she asked herself and soon the car was exploding in the fire the girl had made. "Come!" she shouted to her sister and ran towards the first morning bus that was standing across the road. Suzan looked back the halfway and saw the terrible scene her whole house was on fire!

The Domician Monastery

THE DOMINICAN St. CATHERINE`S MONASTERY One of the best-kept secrets of Tallinn is to be found in the very center of the city. Located near Viru Street, between Müürivahe and Vene Streets, is a medieval Dominican monastery which reveals a fascinating dimension of the city's history. The Dominican Order was founded by a Spaniard, Saint Dominic Gusman, in 1216. Up to that moment only bishops were permitted to preach, but their performance was inadequate beause of the time they had to devote to the administrstion of their dioceses. The result was that many Christians heard the Word of God rarely if at all . Dominic envisioned the creation of a body of trained theologians who would scatter throughout Europe and proclaim the gospel in the most remote areas. The nordic countries appear very early on the Dominic anagenda. To reach Tallinn the friars followed the trade route along the southern coast of the Baltic Sea, and reached Estonia some 7...

Two hundred years ago there were no white people in Australia. The only inhabitants were dark-skinned people who were still living in a Stone Age. Their only weapons were stone knives and boomerangs. But their tribes had very well-worked- out customs. A few aborigines still live in the emptier part of the continent. In 1770, the British explorer Captain Cook raised the British flag. Cook found there a pleasant climate and beautiful forests. The British initially used Australia as a gigantic prison camp for convicts from Britain. Then other people from Britain began to settle there as well. The

Town, near the harbour. During the reconstruction of the gate in the early 16th century, the cannon tower Fat Margaret was added. The round tower, with 155 loopholes, a diameter of 25 meters, and a height of about 20 meters, was built to protect the harbour. It got its name from the fact that it was indeed the stoutest tower in the city wall. Through history, the cannon tower has also served as a storehouse for gunpowder and weapons, and as a prison. Fat Margaret now houses the Estonian Maritime Museum. The viewing platform on the roof affords a lovely view onto the Old Town and the bay. The Down Hall Tallinn's original Town Hall was established sometime in the 13th Century, and was replaced by the current Gothic monument, hewn from limestone, in 1402-1404. The Hall served its function as the home of the city administration for an incredible 700 years, right up until 1970.

In contrast to its colloquial meaning, 'Investment' in GDP does not mean purchases of financial products. Buying financial products is classed as `saving', as opposed to investment. G (government spending) is the sum of government expenditures on final goods and services. Examples includes salaries of public servants, purchase of weapons for the military, and any investment expenditure by a government. It does not include any transfer payments, such as social security or unemployment benefits. X (exports) represents gross exports. GDP captures the amount a country produces, including goods and services produced for other nations' consumption, therefore exports are added. M (imports) represents gross imports. the world rather than the industrialized nations. 3. After the World War Two the United States and the USSR were the dominant military powers in the world, but they had very different forms of government and economy, the USA a capitalist democracy, USSR a communist dictatorship. The two nations were rivals who feared each other, each ideologically opposed. The war also left Russia in control of large areas of Eastern Europe, and the US led Allies in control of the West (each had atomic weapons) . Arguments also rose about Poland. The USSR wanted Poland to have a communist government while the others wanted a democratic. Finally they agreed on democratic elections but most of the candidates were communist so the communist still got to power. In between the countries which were controlled by the communist and the countries which were on the USA's side an iron curtain was drawn. Military alliances were formed as the West grouped together as NATO and the East as the Warsaw Pact.
