learned the skills that would serve him throughout his life, but his father was displeased when his son told him he wanted to be an artist, and it took much convincing for Michelangelo to be permitted to further his apprenticeship. Michelangelo went on to study sculpture at Medici gardens, where Leonardo da Vinci had also been taught. Following his sojourn at Medici gardens, Michelangelo went to Bologna, then to Rome, where he saw the impressive marble statues, which he would later echo in his own works. Upon his return, he set out to create his first complete sculpture, as statue of Mary holding Jesus' lifeless body, known as La Pietà. His first large scale commissioned work was the statue of Bacchus for a sculpture garden. Shortly thereafter, he created one of his most important works, the statue of David, and a commissioned piece symbolizing the freedom of the republic of Florence.

world, Lebron James. At that time it was eight times the budget, which was approved by the Estonian Government. So it was a heavy sum to pay. In Britain I think they can only blame themselves. You see, unlike many other nations, the UK has no single core constitutional document. In this sense, it is said not to have a written constitution, but much of the British constitution is embodied in written documents, within statues, court judgments and treaties. So in my opinion that's a stupid system. Because if you watch other countries how much do they pay for compensation claims then it's nothing. Though in other countries there are huge sums what civilians get from companies. A former female police officer was awarded an estimated £1,000,000 in a package, after complaining of bullying and sexual and racial harassment. Instead the wind direction means the acid rain falls in the other places (in Europe : Scandinavia, USA; Canada) Cultural effects Acid rain and the dry deposition of acidic particles contribute to the corrosion of metals (such as bronze) and the deterioration of paint and stone (such as marble and limestone). These effects significantly reduce the societal value of buildings, bridges, cultural objects (such as statues, monuments, and tombstones), and cars. Famous buildings like the Statue of Liberty in New York, the Taj Mahal in India and St. Paul's Cathedral in London have all been damaged by this sort of air pollution. Acid rain can also damage stained glass windows in churches, railway lines and steel bridges. The acid rain slowly eats away them all. Building materials crumble away, metals are corroded, the colour of paint is spoiled, leather is weakened and crusts form on the surface of glass.

When the spire was struck by lightning in the mid 16th century, it was not rebuilt. During the English Civil War and the period of the Cromwell's rule, the Commonwealth, an enormous amount of damage was done to the fabric of the building. Windows, statues, carvings and the nave roof were destroyed. During the war, the Parliamentary army used the nave to stable their horses and later the porch of the Cathedral was rented to small businesses. In 1660 King Charles II was restored to the throne. By this time St Paul's was in a desperate state so Christopher Wren was consulted about repairs to restore its former grandeur. Before the recommended repairs could be undertaken, the cathedral was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666.

By a slow process, the "irresistible raising" of the ground level has swallowed up the cathedral's once-visible foundation. But the various traces of destruction that still scar its facade were mostly the work of men. During the French Revolution, a large part of the cathedral was ransacked by opponents of the monarchy. Consequently, by the time of the novel, the facade had lost an innumerable amount of statues and even a flight of eleven steps leading to the front entrance. As the narrator remarks: "Time is blind, man stupid." As a result, Notre Dame does not belong to a particular architectural class. It is neither Roman nor Gothic. Its ancient doorway and the round pillars are separated by six centuries, meaning that all the churches of France, both new and ancient, are blended and amalgamated in the mother-church of Notre Dame.

Common law Common law has developed through the history and originates back to the 11th century's England. Travelling judges moved around the country solving different criminal cases and civil disputes. The most important part of common law is precedent. It means that in case essential elements of the case are the same as in previous recorded cases, judges are bound to reach same verdict. Government passing new legislations if they feel existing common law, statues or equitable, help courts to avoid the obligation to use precedent. Common law used to be divided into two: common law, equity. Equity cases were not enforced as common law and was mostly used to make someone do something, such as force someone to follow obligations of the contract. Common law has spread all over the world because of the once owned colonies of Britain, especially Unites States.
