Why did Russian civil war breake out in 1918

toppled from control of the Soviets in September, and by the Tsarists, who wanted to rescue Nicholas II and put him back on the throne. Lenin made peace with Germany ,the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, in which Russia had lost much of Russia's best agricultural and industrial land to Germany, including Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and the former army officers were angry about this. Also, the Bolshevik government had taken land from the Tsar and the nobles and given it to the peasants, and the civil war was supported by those landlords who had lost their land. All these enemies of the Bolsheviks co-operated to try to bring down the Bolshevik government. A second cause of the Civil War was the Czech Legion. These were some Czech prisoners of war being taken across Russia who in 1918 mutinied, took control of the Trans-Siberian Railway, and attacked towards Moscow. Finally, these groups within Russia were helped by the Great Powers, angry that

How Are Black Women Portrayed in the Novel?

On account of this situation, black women feel themselves more independent and strong. First of all, when the slaves are free and there is no need to work for others anymore, many servants leave their employers and turn their back on them. For example, there is a young black girl named Tia who is the daughter of an attendant and she is Antoinette´s only companion. One day Tia unexpectedly turns against Antoinette. Tia sees the pennies that Christophine has given Antoinette and she bets three pennies that Antoinette cannot turn a somersault under water. Antoinette manages to do the somersault, but comes up choking so Tia takes the pennies anyway. Antoinette calls Tia a cheat and Tia calls Antoinette´s family poor and trashy. When Antoinette turns her back, Tia takes her clothes and disappers, leaving her own dirty dress for Antoinette. Tia´s disloyalty manifests the allure and corrupting power of money

Democracy in the US

help from France, the American armies, led by George Washington, a gentleman farmer from Virginia, won the War of Independence . The peace treaty was signed in 1783. During the war, the states had agreed to work together by sending representatives to a national congress. The agreement that set up this plan of cooperation was called the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation failed because the states did not cooperate with the Congress or with each other. The Congress had been given no authority to force any state to do anything. The Congress then asked each state to send delegates to a convention in Philadelphia to discuss the changes to strengthen the Articles of Confederation. The meeting, later known as the Constitutional Convention, began in May 1787. George Washington, the military hero of the War of Independence, was the presiding officer.

Although her father has written to Aguilera, she has ruled out any chance to reunite with him.[17] Since then, Fidler has married a paramedic named Jim Kearns, and changed her name.[18] As a child, Aguilera aspired to be a singer. She was known locally as "the little girl with the big voice", singing in local talent shows and competitions.[19][20] According to VH1's Driven, whenever competitors learned they would be up against her in any given week, they would immediately withdraw, prompting insiders to claim it was "like sending a lamb to the slaughter." Her peers soon became jealous of her and would frequently subject her to ridicule, ostracism, and, in one gym class, attempted assault. Acts of vandalism around her house included the slashing of the tires on the family car. Eventually, the family relocated to another suburb in the Pittsburgh area (this time, Wexford) and took to secrecy about Aguilera's talent

Squares of London

Covent Garden Covent Garden is a district in London on the eastern fringes of the West End, between St. Martin's Lane and Drury Lane. It is associated with the former fruit and vegetable market in the central square, now a popular shopping and tourist site, and the Royal Opera House, which is also known as "Covent Garden". The district is divided by the main thoroughfare of Long Acre, north of which is given over to independent shops centred on Neal's Yard and Seven Dials, while the south contains the central square with its street performers and most of the elegant buildings, theatres and entertainment facilities, including the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, and the London Transport Museum. Bad Habits Of Youth

Bad Habits Of Youth The gray shades of smokes appearing in the black darkness of midnight fascinate a lot. It even fascinates me as well, as I am also part of a youth. It is not important that only youth is attracted to such things even our elders are as you must have heard this line "Negative attracts more than positive". Now why am I focusing on youth only then? Because youth is the future of our country. It becomes our duty to remove the bad habits of youth. In the start I have given you the outline of the most common bad habit of youth. It is drug addiction of course, it could be smoking and drinking and then it leads a person to the extreme drug addiction. You loose your senses when you don't get proper dose of drugs on time, and time by time your body starts needing more drugs. Your brain starts needing it for keeping your emotions in control. There are several reasons of adopting this habit. Bad habits of youth only start here

The Universe according to Douglas Adams

Drawing any attention towards oneself was not recommended, as the laws of gravity would notice and instantly drop one back to the ground. Interstellar distances were crossed using the Bistromathic Drive. The whole idea behind Bistromathics was that space depends on the observer's movement in restaurants. As Adams had specified, it relies on three nonabsolute (meaning that they could be anything) numbers: the number of people for whom the table is reserved, the given time of arrival and the relationship between the cost of the items on the check and the amount that people are prepared to pay for (47, 48). The most satirical idea Adams had come up with was the Somebody Else's Problem (shortened as SEP) field. SEP is actually a quite simple concept: individuals often ignore issues that are of relative or critical importance. Thus, an SEP field could be applied to physical objects to prevent them from being acknowledged

Topic USA

Political division United States of America distributes into 50 states. The government power is limited by a dual system of government (federal government and individual state government). The federal government of the United States is the central United States governmental body. The federal government has three branches: the legislative, executive and judicial. Through a system of separation powers, all three branches have some authority over the others and are equal. Federal government was given the powers and responsibilities to deal, that face the problems of a whole nation (foreign affairs, trade, control of the army and navy etc.). In addition, the powers of the federal government as a whole are limited by the Constitution. State governments have the power over the laws that aren't granted to the national government. These include education, crimes, family law and contract law. Like the national government, state governments have three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial

On friendship

when that happens, he should reproach himself for this mortal poverty of affection, not the friend for having proved unworthy. For it is inhuman presumption to say of any man that he is unworthy of your friendship, just as it is to say of any woman, when you have fallen out of love with her, that she is unworthy of your love. In friendship and in love we are always humble, because we see that a free gift has been given to us; and to lose that humility because we have lost friendship or love is to take a pride in what should shame us. We have our judgments and our penalties as part of the political mechanism that is forced upon us so that we may continue to live; but friendship is not friendship at all unless it teaches us that these are not part of our real life. They have to be; and we pay men, and clothe them in wigs and scarlet, to sit in judgment on other men

The History of Flag Day

Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the Revolution), the Pennsylvania Society of Colonial Dames of America on April 25, 1893 adopted a resolution requesting the mayor of Philadelphia and all others in authority and all private citizens to display the Flag on June 14th. Leach went on to recommend that thereafter the day be known as 'Flag Day', and on that day, school children be assembled for appropriate exercises, with each child being given a small Flag. Two weeks later on May 8th, the Board of Managers of the Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution unanimously endorsed the action of the Pennsylvania Society of Colonial Dames. As a result of the resolution, Dr. Edward Brooks, then Superintendent of Public Schools of Philadelphia, directed that Flag Day exercises be held on June 14, 1893 in Independence Square. School children were assembled, each carrying a small Flag, and patriotic songs were sung and addresses delivered.

In my opinion Mr. Darcy was left with too little compassion and gratitude. He basically arranged the marriage of three of Mrs. Bennet's daughters, but wasn't given enough gratitude. Although Ms. Bennet herself didn't know about it, still it should have been obvious, where did the money came then? I found the novel quite amusing sometimes, as the behaviour of Mrs. Bennet was very ridiculous at some points and nowadays it seems even more unrealistic then it was seen before. All in all, the book was interesting at some points, but still not for me. It was beautiful and

Rug Weaving Commercial production of handwoven blankets and rugs has been an important element of the Navajo economy. Rug weaving is another traditional Navajo art form. Navajo women believe the art of weaving was taught by Spider Woman, who constructed a loom according to directions given by the Holy People. Anthropologists speculate Navajos learned to weave from Pueblo people by 1650. Navajo rugs and weavings have gone through an evolution, the earlier weavings were influenced by legends and represented meaningful events in their lives. The Navajo rugs are in demand by the many tourists and collectors who visit the reservation each year. Two predominant colors in the Navajo weaving designs are indigo blue and red

The Hundred Years War was almost immediately followed by the war of roses. It was between two branches of the Royal house York and Lancaster. It was ended by Henry Tudor in 1485. (lancaster) Henry Tudor started with a great act of piety: The building of a beautiful fan roofed chapel in Westminster Abbey. It was completed by his son. His son Henry the VIII made the crown the spiritual head of nation. A huge amount of property which had previously been owned by Roman Catholic Church was sold or given away and the houses stood empty. The Elizabethan period is often considered to be the golden age. Elizabeth was succeeded by her closest relative James VI of Scotland. The unhappy Stuart Dynasty witnessed the Civil war and the execution of Charles I. In 1660 the throne was taken by Charles II. Unfortunately in 1665 the great Plague was responsible for the deaths of 100,000 Londoners and in 1666 The Great Fire destroyed amost 400 acres. The fire raged for three days and burned down

Easter in England

The Easter story includes Maundy Thursday (the Last supper leading to the Eucharist), Good Friday (the day on which Jesus was crucified) and Easter Day (the day on which Jesus came back to life). It is a sad story because Jesus was killed. But the story has a very happy ending, because Jesus came back to life and visited his friends and followers once more. He did not die at all, but went back up to Heaven to be with God, his father. The Traditional Egg Gift The first eggs given at Easter were birds eggs. These eggs were painted in bright colours to give them further meaning as a gift As chocolate became more wide spread in the 20th Century, a chocolate version of the traditional painted egg was developed. The size of the chocolate egg has grown over the years and is now more likely to be the size of an ostrich egg rather than a small birds egg. Special Food Boiled eggs are traditionally served at breakfast, then Easter cards and gifts may be exchanged

Christopher Columbus

larger than he thought. On Christmas Eve, the Santa Maria was wrecked near Haiti. Columbus built a fort and left 40 men to hunt for gold. Then he returned to Spain on the Nina. The Pinta also returned. The people of Spain welcomed him as a hero. He made three more voyages across the ocean. His 13-year-old son, Ferdinand went with him on the fourth voyage. Columbus did not become rich as he had hoped. At the end of his life he only had a pension the king and queen had given him because he was the first to reach the New World. He spent the last few months of his life in bed because of the pain of arthritis. Columbus not only discovered a New World, but he led the way for other explorers. Since his death, Columbus has been heralded as a hero for his discoveries but has also become a figure of controversy for the disastrous effects of his explorations on native peoples in the Americas.

The Crow Tribe

The Crow, also called the Absaroka or Apsáalooke, are a Siouan-language tribe of Native Americans who historically lived in the Yellowstone River valley. They now live on a reservation south of Billings, Montana. Tribal headquarters are located at Crow Agency, Montana. The name of the tribe, Apsáalooke was translated into French by interpreters as gens du corbeaux (people of [the] crows). It means "children of the large-beaked bird," a name given by their neighboring tribe, the Hidatsa. The bird, perhaps now extinct, was defined as a fork- tailed bird resembling the blue jay or magpie. In 1743 near present-day Hardin, Montana, the Absaroka first encountered people of European descent - the two La Vérendryes brothers from French Canada. The explorers called the Apsáalooke beaux hommes (handsome men). The Crow called the French Canadians baashchíile (persons with yellow eyes).

eelmise YAR 2004 (Vancouver) versiooniga. Miks YAR 2004 ei leidnud populaarsust/kasutamist meresõitjate juures? When the YARs were last updated in 2004 at Vancouver there was, for the first time, a lack of consensus between the main commercial stakeholders regarding many of the changes, with shipowning interests also taking the view that the proposed changes were premature, given that the 1994 rules were only a decade old. The 2004 YARs were therefore incorporated in relatively few contracts of carriage. The YAR 2016 largely reflect the YAR 1994, which BIMCO has to date recommended as the basis for general average adjustments, while containing some useful clarifications and additions such as on low value cargoes. Importantly, it has been agreed that an annual interest rate of LIBOR plus 4
