Stress

Stress What is stress? Physiologists define stress as how the body reacts to a stressor, real or imagined, a stimulus (erguti) that causes stress. Acute (terav) stressors affect an organism in the short term; chronic stressors over the longer term. The term stress was first employed in a biological context by the endocrinologist Hans Selye in the 1930s The effects of stress: Alarm is the first stage. When the threat or stressor is identified or realized, the body's stress response is a state of alarm. During this stage adrenaline will be produced in order to bring about the fight-or-flight response (võitle või põgene) Resistance is the second stage. If the stressor persists (püsib), it becomes necessary to attempt some means of coping (toimetulemisega) with the stress. Although the body begins to try to adapt (kohanduma) to the strains (pinge) or demands (nõudmistega) of the environment, the

are made to move. It is recommended that a person break for 5-10 minutes for every hour spent at a workstation. Working "mini" activity breaks into your day can really make a difference in how you feel and even how well you perform your job. Even the busiest person can do it. Just five minutes of movement every hour or two can boost energy and improve your attitude. You'll find that getting your blood pumping and oxygen circulating will help you concentrate better and be more productive, calm, and efficient. Breaks can minimize strain, but they can not relieve stress or improve flexibility, for example. Most people should stretch prior to any strenuous activity. Routine activities like typing or using the phone can lead to injury over a period of time. So, stretching can: - increase your flexibility. Flexible muscles can improve your daily performance. Tasks such as lifting packages, bending to tie your shoes or hurrying to catch a bus become easier and less tiring.

Heart and Lung Health

Heart and Lung Health: This is one of the most important reasons to exercise. An inactive lifestyle is one of the major causes of heart diseases. While a lot of heart conditions occur when we are older, it is necessary to start exercising at a young age to keep our hearts strong as we age. Cardiovascular exercises like running, swimming, cycling, and aerobics are especially good for the heart, hence the name `cardiovascular'. These types of exercises help to maintain your blood pressure,

CHANGE YOUR THINKING CHANGE YOUR LIFE

He is not worth very much. He must therefore be worthless. Almost all personality problems in adolescence and adult- hood are rooted in what psychologists refer to as love withheld. The child needs love like roses need rain. When children feel unloved, they feel unsafe and insecure. They think, “I’m not good enough.” They begin to engage in compensatory behaviors to make up for this inner anxiety. This sense of love deprivation is manifested in misbehavior, personality problems, bursts of anger, ccc_tracy_1_1-17.qxd 6/23/03 2:46 PM Page 4 4 ➤ CHANGE YOUR THINKING, CHANGE YOUR LIFE depression, hopelessness, lack of ambition, and problems with people and relationships. ■ YOU ARE BORN UNAFRAID The child is born with no fears, except those of falling and loud noises

Addiction and drugs

................................page 8 2 Smoking Smoking is a very addictive and risky hobby. So why do people start doing it in the first place? Firstly sometimes people try their first cigarette, they like it and so they start doing it more regularly. Secondly some people start smoking because there's a rumour saying that it's slimming. And another reason may be that it may relieve stress. After three or four cigarettes you get addicted to it because of nicotine. It is a drug that stimulates the brain. When the level of nicotine falls in your blood and you're a regular smoker, you usually develop withdrawal symptoms, such as craving, anxiety, restlessness, headaches, irritability, hunger, difficulty with concentration, or just feeling awful. These symptoms are relieved by the next cigarette. Most smokers need to smoke regularly to feel normal and to prevent nicotine withdrawal

Drugs and how they affect your health.

Drugs are chemicals that change the way a person's body works. You've probably heard that drugs are bad for you, but what does that mean and why are they bad? Medicines Are Legal Drugs If you've ever been sick and had to take medicine, you already know about one kind of drugs. Medicines are legal drugs, meaning doctors are allowed to prescribe them for patients, stores can sell them, and people are allowed to buy them. But it's not legal, or safe, for people to use these medicines any way they want. Cigarettes and Alcohol

You can skip any topic you want to, there is no compulsion. The whole point of this exercise is to generate a mass of information that will help you in selecting your topic for the essay. Try to make your topic focused and broad at the same time, it sounds paradoxical but it's not. If you are doing data entry, you should take a 5minute break for every 30 continuous data entry minutes spent on the computer. Benefits of stretching Stretching increases flexibility. Flexible muscles can improve your daily performance. Tasks such as lifting packages, bending to tie your shoes or hurrying to catch a bus become easier and less tiring. Stretching improves range of motion of your joints. Good range of motion keeps you in better balance, which will help keep you mobile and less prone to injury from falls -- especially as you age. Stretching improves circulation. Stretching increases blood flow to your muscles.

ENGLISH TOPICS - palju teemasid inglise keele riigieksami kordamiseks

m. A traditional English breakfast is a very big meal. It consists of juice, porridge, a rasher or two of bacon and eggs, toast, butter, jam or marmalade, tea or coffee. Marmalade is made from oranges and jam is made from other fruit. Many people like to begin with porridge with milk or cream and sugar, but no good Scotsman ever puts sugar on it, because Scotland is the home of porridge. For a change you can have sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, cold ham or perhaps fish. But nowadays in spite of the fact that the English strictly keep to their meals many people just have cereal with milk and sugar or toast with jam or honey. The two substantial meals of the day are lunch and dinner. Lunch is usually taken at one o'clock. For many people lunch is a quick meal. Office workers usually go to a cafe at this time. They take fish, poultry or cold meat (beef, mutton, veal and ham), boiled or fried potatoes and all sorts of salad

I think that the schooldays are too long. Students have not enough free time. Even at home they must study. Because of that I would reduce lessons. Other things I wouldn't change. 5. Cooking was one of Cary's joys, but it wasn't one of his talents. "Great." Blowing a wayward strand of hair off his face, he grinned at me. "We've got a kitchen most restaurants would kill for. There's no way to screw up a meal in there." Dubious, I headed out with a wave, choosing to avoid a conversation about cooking. Taking the elevator down to the first floor, I smiled at the doorman when he let me out to the street with a flourish. The moment I stepped outside, the smells and sounds of Manhattan embraced me and invited me to explore. I was not merely across the country from my former home in San Diego, but seemingly worlds away. Phosphate Binders: Your Questions Answered

Phosphate Binders: Your Questions Answered What's the deal with phosphate in kidney disease anyway? Phosphate and calcium are both minerals that are essential in maintaining a healthy body. Together, they help build strong, healthy bones and teeth, and also play a role in regular cell and nerve function. Through a delicate process called homeostasis, the body keeps both phosphate and calcium at healthy levels. Both the kidneys and the parathyroid glands play vital roles. First, the kidneys, which activate vitamin D, control the amount of phosphate that is absorbed and excreted from the foods you eat. Second, a hormone called parathyroid hormone (PTH) regulates phosphate by increasing or decreasing the blood's phosphate concentration. A normal blood phosphate level in adults is 3-4.5 mg/dL and a normal PTH is 10-55 pg/mL.

Alcohol

The Blood Alcohol Content is measured in milligrams percent. For example, a BAC of 10 means that one-tenth of 1% of your total blood content is alcohol. This means that a BAC of 0.5 and below may give you a little buzz;a BAC of .50 or greater may cause death. Blood Alcohol Content depends on two things size, the bigger you are the more blood you have to delute the alcohol, and it also depends on how fast you drink it, the faster you drink the more your BAC goes up because your body doesn't have as long to delute the alcohol. Homereading - body language

Body language Body language means communication with the movement or position of the human body. It can be conscious or unconscious. It is something that is noticed by everybody but is not always given enough attention. We sometimes ignore it and try to hide behind words, but we should never forget that we cannot fool everyone! Children react to body language because they experience the world through intuition. The same can be true for adults when feelings are involved. People who are in bad shape emotionally will often place great importance in it. In fact, they often pick up the smallest hint of a lapse in attention in the person they are speaking to. And they frequently jump to the conclusion that they are boring or a nuisance - thus compounding any sense of depression or poor self-esteem.

watch over patients. Patients who do not have to be hospitalized, go to the outpatient clinic to see the doctor. Doctors can be divided into two main groups: 1) general practitioners 2) specialists. GP's provide care for every member of the family, regardless of age. Other doctors specialize in a particular field of medicine. Neurologists specialize in disorders of the nervous system, psychiatrists treat mental illnesses, oncologists specialize in treatment of tumors in the body etc. Doctors help promote health and prevent disease in various ways. For example, they vaccinate people against such diseases as polio, hepatitis, tuberculosis, measles and others. Doctors can prevent many diseases from becoming serious by diagnosing them in early stages. For this reason, regular checkups with the doctor are necessary. People must also eat a balanced diet and get enough rest and exercise. Screening programs help diagnose diseases that carry a high risk of death

Bad Habits Of Youth

Now why am I focusing on youth only then? Because youth is the future of our country. It becomes our duty to remove the bad habits of youth. In the start I have given you the outline of the most common bad habit of youth. It is drug addiction of course, it could be smoking and drinking and then it leads a person to the extreme drug addiction. You loose your senses when you don't get proper dose of drugs on time, and time by time your body starts needing more drugs. Your brain starts needing it for keeping your emotions in control. There are several reasons of adopting this habit. Bad habits of youth only start here. The second I want to mention is the craze of drifting this is for boys, as boys do it in majority. Due to lack of law implementation and more of corruption in country, any young boy or girl whose parents have got good approach to law enforcing authorities of country are not scared of breaking rules
