Wales, Germany, Ukraine and Scandinavia. In Edmonton and Calgary there are also historic Chinatowns, and Calgary has Canada's third largest Chinese community. Geographical features Alberta covers an area of 661,848 square kilometres, an area about 5% smaller than Texas or 20% larger than France. This makes it the fourth largest province after Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia. To the south, the province borders on the 49th parallel north, separating it from the U.S. state of Montana, while on the north the 60th parallel north divides it from the Northwest Territories. To the east the 110th meridian west separates it from the province of Saskatchewan, while on the west its boundary with British Columbia follows the 120th meridian west south from the Northwest Territories at 60°N until it reaches the Continental Divide at the Rocky Mountains. The province extends 1,223 kilometres north to south and 660 kilometres east to west at its maximum width

countries, American cooks and chefs have substantially altered them over the years, to the degree that the dish as now enjoyed the world over may even be considered archetypically American. Hot dogs and hamburgers are both based on traditional German dishes, brought over to America by German immigrants to the United States, but in their modern, popular form they are so altered that they can be reasonably considered American dishes. 10. Sports Sports in the United States, as in other countries, are an important part of the national culture. However, the sporting culture of the U.S. is different from that of many other countries, especially those in Europe. The most popular sports are American football, baseball, basketball, ice hockey and soccer. American football (known simply as "football" in the U.S) attracts more television viewers than baseball; however, National Football League teams play only 16 regular-season games each

Pop culture is meant for the masses. Pop music is a wide variety of styles which are with good rhythm and meaningful lyrics so it must be for big masses. The most movies we have watched are made in Hollywood, so about 90% of them are the American culture spreaders. We get our slang words from the movies or from the songs. Europeans don't watch many American TV shows, because they are just not shown over here (we have started broadcasting the old episodes). The American most "Pop" sports (Baseball, Football) aren't also widely spread in the other countries. I believe that America's pop culture is the most advanced and most famous in the whole world! Western Australia , South Australia, The Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory). The Australian people are culturally the same as the Anglo Americans. There also live aborigines. Aborigines are the ancestors of the people. Like the US and Canada, Australia was an English speaking colony of Great Britain. Today Australia is a modern developed country with a diversified economy. Australia is an island continent of 7.7 million square kilometres, which makes it a little smaller than the USA. Located in south of Asia, between The Pacific and Indian Oceans, Australia is the World's driest continent. Although large areas of the centre are desert, Australia has a wide range of climate from tropical in the north to temperate in the south east, where it frequently snows in winter. Geographical position The coasts of Australia are surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean and the Southern Ocean.

Australia Australia is the only country in the world that covers an entire continent, yet also the smallest and the driest of all the continents. It's almost the same size as continental USA, being the sixth largest country in the world. It's also the oldest some of the rocks are more than 3,000 million years old. Australia is often called `Down Under', because it lies in the Southern Hemisphere. As a result, its seasons are the opposite of ours. Australia, Tasmania and a number of smaller islands form the Commonwealth of Australia. Because of the country's great size, the climate in Australia ranges from tropical regions of the Northern Territory to the cool temperate conditions in the southeast and Tasmania, where it often snows in winter. In the north, half the year is `wet' and half is `dry'. From November to April heavy rain fills the rivers and makes enormous lakes where thousands of birds come for the summer. From May to October it is often sunny and dry for weeks, and it is

The reef is located in the Coral Sea, off the coast of Queensland in northeast Australia It is the largest coral reef on earth, extending for 2000 km along the eastern coast. Some scientists estimate that the reef is 30 million years old. The corals consist of tiny animals known as polyps that protect themselves by forming and external skeleton of lime and when the polyp dies its shell hardens. When the number of these little creatures increases, fantastically beautiful shapes that we know as corals are form. The Great Barrier Reef can be seen from outer space and is sometimes referred to as the single largest organism in the world. More than 300 varieties of coral ranging from pale blue to bright yellow can be found. Recently, black coral, the rarest type of all, was found on one of the reefs. Lakes Most of the lakes in Australia are filled with water after rains only

It is meat jelly used on sandwiches and it tastes like broth. Sport Australians love tough sports, like rugby and rally for example. Rugby is very famous in Australia. The Australian Rugby Union was created in 1892. The national team has a special anthem that is in aboriginal language. Australians also love motor sport. The most popular series is the V8 Supercars, which is analog to the DTM in Europe. Australians have their own kind of football, called Australian Rules. On the day of the final match, in September each year, everything stops in Melbourne. Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth are all large modern cities. In Brisbane you can still find stilt houses - wooden houses on tall posts which let cool air underneath the house. Adelaide has a famous festival of music, theatre and film every two years. And in Perth about one-third of the families own a boat. Hobart is a smaller, quieter city. It began in 1803 with 433 people-281 of them convicts. Now it has about 170,000 people. Darwin, in the north of Australia, has no tall buildings, only long low ones, because during the summer storms the winds are sometimes very strong. In 1974 a storm killed sixty-seven people and destroyed almost all the buildings in Darwin.

The kangaroo is the best known of all Australian animals. There are many kinds of different kangaroos of different size. They are famous for their hopping style and being the biggest marsupials around. Kangaroos congregate in groups up to ten to feed together. Mother and young stick together for years after the baby has left mama's pouch. They are born as small, bean-sized hairless babies that climb up into the safety of the pouch. After 33 weeks the little kangaroos have to leave the pouch. At top speed kangaroos can make 4m leaps and reach the velocity of 50 km/h. The long, heavy and powerful kangaroo tail makes it all possible by providing balance and stability. Only tree kangaroos can move their hind feet independently of one- another. The wombat is a marsupial rat. The koala or pouched bear lives in the gum- trees. It is the loveliest of all the Australian animals.

This voyage is the earliest evidence of sea travel by prehistoric men. The first aborigines found an Australia with a better environment than today. Large animals now extinct provided more meat than the animals which we are familiar with. Some parts of the continent were richer in vegetable food, but there were no cultivated crops or animals that could be domesticated such as cattle and sheep. As Australia was isolated from the rest of the world, Aboriginals had very little contact with other people from whom to borrow tehniques, to trade good, to acquire crop seeds or animals. Each clan grouping occupied a welldefined area of land. The group belonged with, or to the land as well the animals and plants. They had no idea of being able to buy or sell land, the land was given long ago, in the Dreamtime. Aborigines were limited to the food, which they had growing naturally in their area. But they knew when, where and how to find anything edible

national flag is hoisted at sunrise and lowered at sunset except on June 23, Victory Day, when it is left out for the shortest night of the year, followed by another public holiday, Midsummer Day. The Estonian national anthem - entitled My Native Land, My Pride and Joy, was composed in 1848 by Friedrich Pacius, a Finn of German descent. The Estonian- language words were written by Johann Voldemar Jannsen. In 1869 it was performed at the first all-Estonian Song Festival in Tartu and gained popularity during the period of the national movement. After World War I the melody became the national anthem of Estonia and Finland. It was officially adopted in Estonia after the War of Independence in 1920. The anthem was banned during Soviet occupation and another song, My Native Land, My Dearest Love by Gustav Ernesaks (words by Lydia Koidula), became an unofficial anthem at that time and enabled the people to express their feelings of national identity.

It took place in Quebec on October 30 with "No" winning by 0.58%. Quebec nationalism or asserts that the Québécois are a nation and promotes the unity of French-Canadians in the province of Quebec. There is little certainty about the origin of the nationalist movements, but it is clear that French Canadian nationalism has been present for at least 200 years. When several parties and movements sprang up, preaching independence in the early 1960s, the social-democratic form of nationalism became the dominant form of nationalism. The Quiet Revolution can be credited for the surge in Quebec nationalism. The Quebec

Just as July becomes August, the seaside town of Haapsalu will host a grand spectacle of rural Estonian entertainment. The White Lady Days is a summer celebration filled with amusement for all the family. The archipelagos of Madeira and the Azores are scattered within the Atlantic Ocean: the Azores straddling the Mid-Atlantic Ridge on a tectonic triple junction, and Madeira along a range formed by in-plate hotspot geology (much like the Hawaiian Islands). Geologically, these islands were formed by volcanic and seismic events, although the last terrestrial volcanic eruption occurred in 195758 (Capelinhos) and minor earthquakes occur sporadically, usually of low intensity.
