Topic Health Introduction Good health is very important for us. We should do everything we can to stay healthy. Being in good health means having our body and mind in good working order, free from disease and pain. Ways of keeping health There are many ways for keeping health. To stay healthy we should eat right foot, dress comfortably, spend much time in fresh air, have enough rest, keep ourselves clean and have regular checkups with the doctor and the dentist. A big part of prevention of diseseases is sporting. Poeple need to have phsical exercise. If they can not have it, they will get stressed and they will be infected with dieseases much easier. For example it would be good to run every day for some time. That way one probably will not become fat, he or she will get fresh air and rest from daily problems. There are many other health-sports also. Many people go swimming. During winter people go skiing. Some people also do aerobics. People go to gym as well.

Topic - Health

Health 2007 1. Introduction Health is the level of functional or metabolic efficiency of an organism at both the cellular and social level. In the medical field, health is commonly defined as an organism's ability to succesfully respond to challenges and effectively restore and keep a so-called ,,state of balance". 2. History · Early hospitals During the Middle Ages the hospital could serve other functions, such as an almshouse for the poor, or hostel for pilgrims. In ancient cultures, religion and medicine were linked. The earliest known institutions aiming to provide cure were Egyptian temples. Greek temples dedicatedto the healer-god, might admit the sick, who would wait for guidance from the god in a dream. The Romans adopted this worship. The Sri Lankans are perhaps responsible for introducing theconcept ofdedicated hospitals to the world

Social Problems

In various historical and present-day societies institutionalized religions have established systems of earthly justice which punish crimes against the divine will and specific devotional, organizational and other rules under specific codes, such as Islamic sharia or Roman Catholic canon law. Homelessness Homelessness is the condition and social category of people who lack housing, because they cannot afford, or are otherwise unable to maintain, regular, safe, and adequate shelter. The term "homelessness" may also include people whose primary nighttime residence is in a homeless shelter, in an institution that provides a temporary residence for individuals intended to be institutionalized, or in a public or private place not designed for use as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings. A small number of people choose to be homeless nomads, such as some Romani people (Gypsies) and members of some subcultures. An estimated 100 million people worldwide are homeless.

in the reality, the supply chain is a complex and dynamic network of facilities and organizations with different, conflicting objectives. Supply chains exist in both service and manufacturing organizations, although the complexity of the chain may vary greatly from industry to industry and firm to firm. Unlike commercial manufacturing supplies, services such as clinical supplies planning are very dynamic and can often have last minute changes. Availability of patient kit when patient arrives at investigator site is very important for clinical trial success. This results in overproduction of drug products to take care of last minute change in demand. R&D manufacturing is very expensive and overproduction of patient kits adds significant cost to the total cost of clinical trials. An integrated supply chain can reduce the overproduction of drug products by efficient demand management, planning, and inventory management.

Black Beauty was very well cared for. He was given good food to eat, a warm stable to sleep in and lots of kind words. Black Beauty learned many things from his new owner, such as the advantages of not being greedy and of being fair and kind to all creatures. Black Beauty spent a couple of very happy years there. After spending years on London's streets, Black Beauty's next home was a pleasant farm, with a caring master. After nursing him back to good health, the farmer decided that Black Beauty needed to be in a place more appropriate than a farm. He sold Black Beauty to two kind young sisters, who lived on a pleasant country estate with a large, green meadow. Here the weary but content horse finally found the rest and peace of mind that he so desired and deserved.

Victoria had nine children, who eventually became the monarchs of many European countries like Russia, German, Sweden and Greece. After Prince Albert's death Victoria withdrew from most public appearances for years. She put much effort into planning and building a series of memorials to her husband. During the last decades of her life she once again involved herself in state and political matters. Britain also took part in the Crimean War (1853-1856). The British part in this war, to halt Russian expanding into the Balkans, was appallingly planned and executed. Hospital conditions though were atrocious: there was no room for all the patients. Florence Nightingale was the first woman to run a field hospital in Turkey during the Crimean War. She later set up a school for nurses, turning nursing into true profession. The Boer War, also called the South African War (1899-1902) saw the British army

If you have a well documented list of techniques to connect your ideas effectively the writing process is less formidable. You will want to know how to join similarities, compare and contrast certain facts, introduce the next topic, offer a supporting idea, or refer to previously presented facts. You will also need to know how to present different shades of argument to produce logically a recommendation you wish to make. This requires an ability to emphasise certain facts and 'bury' others. However, all facts need to be linked to give a logical flow. This unit will give you language practice in this important aspect of producing written documents. Evaluation Exercise 1 Connectives

Rational Use of Diagnostic Tests

Rational Use of Diagnostic Tests Screening tests Diagnostic tests are often used to screen asymptomatic patients and identify risk factors for occult disease. Screening tests should be generally noninvasive, inexpensive, and of minimal risk to the patient. Screening tests should have high diagnostic sensitivity, which means few false negative results would be expected, as the goal of testing is to rule out the presence of disease. Screening tests should be used to screen for diseases that (1) have serious consequences if left undetected, (2) are reasonably prevalent within the population, and (3) have treatment options readily available. Should a positive result be obtained, a more accurate, confirmatory test should then be performed.

The Witch Trials in Salem

Witchcraft Witchcraft is the alleged use of supernatural or magical powers. A witch (from Old English wicca m. / wicce f.) is a practitioner of witchcraft. Historically, it was widely believed that witchcraft involved the use of these powers to inflict harm upon members of a community or their property, and that all witches were in league with the devil. Since the mid 20th century, the term witchcraft has sometimes been used to distinguish between bad witchcraft and good witchcraft, with the latter often involving healing. Human misfortune was often blamed on a supernatural entity or a known person in the community. Reasons for accusations of witchcraft fall into four general categories: · A person was caught in the act of positive or negative sorcery · A well-meaning sorcerer or healer lost their clients' or the authorities' trust

Referaat "Chelsea Flower Show"

The Chelsea Flower Show came about practically by accident, as have many great traditions. The world's most famous flower show might have been the Inner Temple or Holland Park Flower Show, or even the Wembley Flower Show had events worked out differently. The first Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Great Spring Flower Show at Chelsea opened in May 1913, although, confusingly, there was another May flower show the Royal International Horticultural Exhibition held at the Royal Hospital in 1912. This one off event was backed but not run by the RHS, which cancelled its own Great Spring Show for that year. The RHS Great Spring Flower Show had normally been based at the Inner Temple in the hart of London, but in 1913 RHS had idea of moving the Show to Holland Park. They thought that the Show was becoming too big for the Inner Temple site. Anyway it stayed in first place. July 1912 the RHS President Sir Trevor Lawrence had met Major General Crutchley

They concluded that the two halves in the split-brain monkey had separate memories and could perform separate tasks. This was also tested on human participants, whose brains had been spilt to relieve epilepsy. Test results show that speech is localized in only one half of the brain. So when the patient was shown an image that was projected to his or hers left hemisphere of the brain he or she could easily identify the object. But when it was shown so it would be projected in the right hemisphere, the participant could not verbally identify the object, although he or she could point out what it was, if cards with different words were shown. This evidence implicates that the language processing happens mainly in the left hemisphere of the brain

Estuary English is a dialect of English widely spoken in South East England, especially along the River Thames and its estuary. Phonetician John C. Wells defines Estuary English as "Standard English spoken with the accent of the southeast of England".[1] The name comes from the area around the Thames, particularly London, Kent, north Surrey and south Essex. The variety first came to public prominence in an article by DavidRosewarne in the Times Educational Supplement in October 1984. [2]

ingested. Gable has found no published cases in the English language that document deaths from smoked marijuana, so the actual lethal dose is a mystery. Gable’s surmise is that smoking marijuana is more risky than eating it but still safer than getting drunk by alcohol (Gable, American Scientist 2006, 94). Third reason why Estonia should decriminalize cannabis is that our doctors are afraid to write out descriptions for patients for the use of medical marijuana. By the law they are allowed to do so, but no doctor in Estonia has had the courage to write out the description for it. That leads the patients to go on the Black market in search of cannabis, which makes them criminals in the eye of law. The patient can never be sure of the quality of the cannabis he or she is buying in the Black market, with the description the patient would receive marijuana which is controlled and pure. ligaments – are detached. In most cases, hypermobility is caused by the deviation of tissue proteins - such as collagen - synthesis; bone structure: bone shape or the depth of the joint sockets; muscle structure: muscle tone and strength; poor sense of proprioception; genetic heritability. Sometimes weak muscles have an impact on the development of hypermobility as well. On rare occasions, hypermobile joints are the issue of a specific medical condition, such as cleidocranial dysostosis and Marfan, Morquio, Ehlers-Danlos or Down syndrome. 2 Joint laxity occurs mainly in the joints that are located in fingers, elbows, shoulders, wrists, knees, and hips. It usually appears at a very young age and decreases as one gets older, but 58% 3 of adults diagnosed with Joint Hypermobility Syndrome do not see any indication of the recession of JMS throughout their lives. who says "All my means are sane, my motive and object mad." In these characters we encounter the essence of the modern drive to dominate nature. Historically, Francis Bacon's proposed union between knowledge and power foreshadows the contemporary alliance between government, business, and knowledge that has wrought so much mischief. Galileo's separation of the intellect foreshadows the dominance of the analytical mind over that part given to creativity, humor, and wholeness. And in Descartes' epistemology, one finds the roots of the radical separation of self and object. Together these three laid the foundations for modern education, foundations now enshrined in myths we have come to accept without question. Let me suggest six. First, there is the myth that ignorance is a solvable problem. Ignorance is not a solvable problem, but rather an inescapable part of the human condition

Imperialism: empires got bigger and with that the competition between the empires grew. Everyone wanted more areas for themselves. Militarism: at the start of 20th century, an arms race had started. Nations had more technology and manpower than ever before and started making armies and new weapons. Nationalism: Much of the origin of the war was based on the desire of the Slavic peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina to no longer be part of Austria-Hungary but instead be part of Serbia. But in a more general way, the nationalism of the various countries throughout Europe contributed not only to the beginning but the extension of the war in Europe. Each country tried to prove their dominance and power. Tel: +44 1202 961261 Fax: +44 1202 515707 Email: [email protected] ABSTRACT Scholarship on backpackers speculates some individuals may extend backpacking to a way of life. This article empirically explores this proposition using lifestyle consumption as its framing concept and conceptualises individuals who style their lives around the enduring practice of backpacking as ‘lifestyle travellers’. Ethnographic interviews with lifestyle travellers in India and Thailand offer an emic account of the practices, ideologies and social identity that characterise lifestyle travel as a distinctive subtype within backpacking. Departing from the drifter construct, which (re)constitutes this identity as socially deviant, the concept of lifestyle allows for a contemporary appraisal of these individuals’ patterns of meaningful consumption and wider insights into how ongoing mobility can lead to different ways of understanding identities and relating to place.
