Term paper Tennis Karin Visnapuu 10B I decided to make this term about tennis, because I enjoy playing tennis. I have played it for two years. It's not long time but I have learned lots of skills during that time. Tennis is a sport played between two players or between two teams of two players each. Each player has a racket. Tennis is played with a tennis-ball. At first, the ball was white but in the later part of the 20th century it was changed to yellow to allow improved visibility. The modern game of

It is a contact sport which requires padding such as shoulder pads, gloves, helmets, elbow pads, and sometimes even rib guards History Lacrosse, a relatively popular team sport in the Americas, may have developed as early as AD 1100. By the seventeenth century it was well- established and had been documented by Jesuit priests, although the game has undergone many modifications since that time. In the traditional aboriginal Canadian version, each team consisted of about 100 to 1,000 men on a field that stretched from about 500 meters to 3 kilometers long. These lacrosse games lasted from sunup to sundown for two to three days straight

After hard work or exercise, a person may need a period of total rest. At other times, only relaxation or a change of pace is necessary. Any activity that differs from the normal routine of work or study can be relaxing. Handling stress is essential for avoiding both mental and physical illness. Feelings of stress are the body's response to any threatening or unfamiliar situation. Stress can occur even in pleasant situations, such as watching a football game. If not handled properly, stress can lead to physical and emotional illness. No one can avoid stress, but a person can lessen the danger of becoming ill from it. Everyone should learn to relax by resting, taking a walk, meditating. Sports are organized athletic activities played individually or in teams. Men and women, boys and girls can play most sports. The first of these was identified as part of Shang Dynasty China in the 5th century BC, the game's objective being to kick a leather ball through a hole in a piece of cloth which between two 30 foot poles. The Tsu'Chu military exercise in 3rd century China was also an interesting elaboration on this theme; the premise once again being to kick a leather ball through a 30-40 centimetre opening. As the Tsu'Chu exercise lacked the central team element of today's football, attention has also been given to the Greek and Roman games of episkyros and Harpastum respectively. The latter is particularly interesting as a game played on a rectangular grass surface with a ball roughly equivalent to a softball today. ME AND BASKETBALL ,,I want to make my body more balanced trough sport." (Socrates) Basketball is one of the world's most popular and widely viewed sports. Basketball was invented 1891 in Springfield by the local university physical education teacher James Naismith. He was trying to keep his gym class active on a rainy day. He sought a vigorous indoor game to keep his students occupied and at proper levels of fitness during the long New England winters. After rejecting other ideas as either too rough or poorly suited to walled-in gymnasiums, he wrote the basic rules and nailed a peach basket onto a 3,05 m elevated track. In contrast with modern basketball nets, this peach basket retained its bottom, and balls had to be retrieved manually after each "basket" or point scored. In January 1892 there was also the first official

Ice hockey, referred to as simply hockey in the country, is Canada's official winter sport and continues to be the most popular sport and one in which teams representing the country have had the most international success. Lacrosse, with First Nations origins, is Canada's oldest sport and official summer sport (see below), one of the fastest growing sports in all of North America. Pierre de Frédy, was a French pedagogue and historian, but is best known as the founder of the modern Olympic Games. He was born in Paris into a French aristocratic family. As a young man he was an avid sportsman with rowing being one of his favourites, also practicing the sports of boxing, fencing and horse-riding. Influenced by the social, political and scientific events of the late 19th century and his substantial education, Coubertin developed a passionate belief that sport possessed a power to benefit humankind and encourage peace among the nations of the world. He refused the military career planned for him by his family, as well as renouncing a promising political career. De Coubertin was inspired by his visits to British and American colleges and universities, and set out to improve education. He thought part of this improvement should be sports education, which he considered an important part of the personal development of young people.

But certainly the most numerous is the Scout Association, founded in 1908 for boys and in 1910 for girls by Lord Baden-Powel. The Scout movement is to encourage a sense of adventure and of responsibility for others among young people. The programme of training is planned to develop intelligence and practical skills, to promote health and a sense of service. Scout training is complementary to the ordinary education. Scouts train in mapping, signalling, first aid and all the skills that arise from camping and similar outdoor activities. British scouts take part in international scout meetings, which are held approximately every four years. The membership in this or that youth organization is not compulsory in Great Britain. Wind and water have worn away and continue to wear away, unprotected sites. And the paintings and carvings are increaslibly falling victim to vandalism: they have been painted over, spoilt with knives, even used for target practice. The American Rock Art Research Association protects rock-art sites. 2) THE FAVOURITE SPORT IN BRITAIN The most popular sport is probably football. Two kinds of football is played in Great Britain. Games Programming with Java and Java 3D

1. Background to Gaming Giving a definition for `computer game' is problematic, due to the wide range of game types. For example, the ArcadePod site (http://www.arcadePod.com) divides its hundreds of Java games into more than ten categories: 3D games, multiplayer, action, classic, indoor sports, board, outdoor sports, card, mind, casino, educational, and the useful `miscellaneous' catch-all. This makes it difficult to pin down the typical content of a game, and highlights the range of design and programming skills required to create one. Another problem with giving a definition is that game platforms vary enormously, including PCs, dedicated game consoles (e.g. the Sony PlayStation 2), arcade machines, web-based games, hand-held consoles (e.g. the Nintendo Gameboy), interactive TV, set-top boxes (as supplied by some cable networks), cellular phones, and PDAs. 1.1. conductors that are separated by a distance of one meter, then the magnitude of the force on each meter of those conductors will be exactly 0.2 micro-newtons. Furthermore, in general, the force will be proportional to the square of the magnitude of the current and inversely proportional to the distance between the conductors. It also follows that, for railguns with projectile masses of a few kilograms and barrel lengths of a few meters, very large currents will be required to accelerate projectiles to velocities of additions of 1000 m/s. 5 A very large power supply, providing on the order of one million amperes of current, will create a tremendous force on the projectile, accelerating it to a speed of many kilometers per second (km/s). Although these speeds are possible, the heat generated from the propulsion of the object is enough to erode the rails rapidly

Chase and Simon demonstrated that point in an intriguing study. Three chess players an expert, and intermediate player and a beginner were allowed 5 seconds to look at a chessboard containing 25 pieces. Then they looked away and tried to construct the same placement of the pieces on an empty board. This was tried many times with different arrangements. When the pieces were arranged in meaningful positions that might actually occur in game situations, the expert typically recalled about 16 pieces, intermediate about 8 and the novice only 4. But when the arrangement was random, each player remembered only 2 or 3 pieces. The concepts of schemas and chunking can explain that. When the pieces were arranged logically then the experts could apply well-developed schemas to recognize patterns or group pieces together (e.g. all pieces attacking the king). The intermediate and novice did not have so well developed schemas

(The actual motivation is always to limit imports.) For instance, a tariff maybe levied in order to bring the price of the imported good up to the level of the domestically produced good. This so-called scientific tariff-- which to an economist is anything but--has the stated goal of equalizing the price and, therefore, "leveling the playing field," between foreign and domestic producers. In this game, the consumer loses. A peril-point tariff is levied in order to save a domestic industry that has deteriorated to the point where its very existence is in peril. An economist would argue that the industry should be allowed to expire. That way, factors of production used by that inefficient industry could move into a new one where they would be better employed. A retaliatory tariff is one that is levied in response to a tariff levied by a trading partner. In the eyes of an
