Earlier we have baked and decorated gingerbreads. Then soon Santa Claus comes with a bag full of presents. We all have to read poems or sing songs to get a present. Usually by that time it is very late already and we go to sleep to rest. On next day we visit our relatives and parents or grandparents. Such is a part from Estonian Christmas traditions. Merry Christmas to you and please write to me how your Christmas passed. I will wait for your next letter.

almost impossible. But exactly how important and what is less or more important then money is left for every individual himself to decide. People use their money differently, for example their are celebrities who waste money on 5 different cars and 4 houses just to show they are rich but there are also people like Bill Gates who are very humble and donate huge amount of their money to help people who can not help themselves. Our grandparents always told us that money cannot buy happiness. The fact is they were wrong. Scientists have studied the connection between money and happiness. Their conclusion is that there is a positive connection between the two. I myself have always considered money to be an important thing but not as important as happiness but i also considered a possibility that money can buy me happiness, so my conclusion is that money is the most powerful and

In our family there is only me, who workout with my brain instead to do physical exercises. In addition, my grandparents are not capable to workout; they are too old for that as they say. In my family, many people do different activities. Running, skating, boxing, soccer, icehockey and dancing are the most popular. A few friends of mine do workouts. Andre, Madis and Kristiina practice dancing, Brit works out, Diana plays tennis, Eili and Airi play soccer, Steven and Egert go in self defense. However, many friends are like me. A memory of my childhood

I woke up early that beautiful day, because there were guests coming over. Like in any other winter morning i rushed to the window sill to see if the dwarves have left something in my christmas stocking. I remember exactly, what was in there that day, it was kinder surprise. I liked kinder surprises a lot, because the chocolate would melt in your mouth and there was a surprise between the two halves of the chocolate. At 1 o'clock, the guests arrived. They were my grandparents. Guests brought pies made by grandma and a beautiful bunch of flowers since i'd just had my birthday a week before. Mother asked me to take out a vase to put the flowers in the water. So i did and i climbed on top of a chair to grab my favourite vase with blue flowers on it. Suddenly i noticed a lot of sweets on the top shelf of the drawer and also drawings i had drawn to santa claus. I shouted "mommy, is this the dwarves' storage place?" I was frustrated, because they hadn't delivered

It is just like John would write down his biography. John puts down words of advice and wisdom for his son and tells him about the life of a minister and a preacher. John starts his letter with reminding the conversation he had had with his son the night before that he might be gone someday. He talks about death and how dying people have asked him what death is like. He has always said that it is like going home. John starts looking back on his life, reminding his parents and grandparents. His father and grandfather were ministers too and ment a lot to him. John talks about a trip he and his father took to find Johns grandfathers grave who had been an itinerant preacher. It had been a rough journey, which lasted for week. They had very little to eat and nowhere to sleep. It had been a bonding experience for them. John Ames is amazed by the fact that everywhere he goes people seem to know that he is a reverend, even strangers. Mr. Ames thinks about the

To swear or not to swear ?

Especially problematic is it when children swear, although they may not mean anything bad, or do not even know what the word means, they simply imitate, what they have heard from parents, for example. Usually, when a child swears, it may show to others, how the child`s parents have raised him/her. Of course there are certain situation as well, where swearing is unacceptable, for example formal events, among people who are complete strangers, with parents, grandparents, at school etc. Although swearing may be in some ways a positive phenomenon, people should use swear words only when really necessary or where it is acceptable. Of course, parents should teach their children, why they can not use certain words and how offensive they are. Actually all people swear and it has beocome quite common, even more common than one might think and it is better to get sworn at than punched at.

Christmas

It is supposed to be a holy day, one filled with peace and serenity, with memories and hope. A day when we renew our faith and strengthen ties with family and friends. Our society is guided by mass media and without a doubt, these media groups have changed the way we see Christmas and every other holiday. Finally, I would say that Christmas is always a time for love, joy and family. Everyone from the kids to the grandparents should be eager to give and to receive. We should not spend our Christmas standing in lines in malls waiting to pay abnormal amounts of money for something material instead of spendind our time at home with people we love and care for.

On the collectivist side, we find societies in which people from birth onwards are integrated into strong, cohesive in-groups, often extended families (with uncles, aunts and grandparents) which continue protecting them in exchange for unquestioning loyalty. Individualism prevails in developed and Western countries, while Collectivism prevails in less developed and Eastern countries; Japan takes a middle position on this dimension. 47 Maskuliinsus- feminiinsus The extent of emphasis on work goals (earnings, advancement and assertiveness, as opposed to interpersonal goals (friendly atmosphere, getting along with the boss) and nurturance

increasing numbers of Central European Jews, especially fleeing from the pogroms of the 1880s. In the first two decades of the twentieth century, immigrants were entering the USA at an average of three-quarters of a million a year. In 1900, the population was just over 75 million. This total had doubled by 1950. [3, p.35] Within one or two generations of arrival, most of these immigrant families had come to speak English, through a natural process of assimilation. Grandparents and grandchildren found themselves living in very different linguistic worlds. The result was a massive growth in mother-tongue use of English. [3, p.35] According to the 1990 census, the number of people (over five years of age) who spoke only English at home had grown to over 198 million - 86 per cent of the population. This figure increased to 215 million in the 2000 census. This is almost four times as many mother-tongue speakers as any other nation. [3, p. 36]

48% of pupils currently on the additional support needs register`.108 Thereupon, Mr Richards believes that in the midst of this challenge it is crucial for him` to look further from the school gates […] in order to understand what is going on in children`s lives`. He notes there are currently around `four and five generation families […] coming from the same system […] of deprivation…where parents, grandparents have never worked and therefore […] do not see any aspiration rather that the system they are in […]109 Mr Richards recognises that the RRSA has the potential to break the circle of deprivation and allow children to reach their full potential. Mr Richards believes that even though he is `at the moment only scratching the surface` the RRSA has the potential to help them to increase children`s `confidence of that they can achieve their dreams and aspirations`. 110 However, Mr

must answer to. As a conquered people, Europeans, especially the English and French, insisted that Africans abandoned their historically names to answer to their own names, David, Michael, Paul, Peter, John, Andrew, William, Walter, etc., They insisted that if Africans had to become “Christians,” they had to abandon their names which are historically and culturally rich. As most Africans named their children after their parents, grandparents, great-grand parents, relatives, and others, the abandonment of these names lost significant connection to our past and ultimately to our future. The Caucasian churches in Africa are the leading offenders in annihilating the culture and history of Africans, since the first Caucasians arrived in Africa. I have read through the Bible, and I have not found where it says that answering to a particular name is necessary to become a Christian; yet it was a condition that the

smile and look pleased; a relief to stare dejectedly out the window at the sheeting rain and let just a few tears escape. I wasn't in the mood to go on a real crying jag. I would save that for bedtime, when I would have to think about the coming morning. Forks High School had a frightening total of only three hundred and fifty-seven -- now fifty- eight -- students; there were more than seven hundred people in my junior class alone back home. All of the kids here had grown up together -- their grandparents had been toddlers together. I would be the new girl from the big city, a curiosity, a freak. Maybe, if I looked like a girl from Phoenix should, I could work this to my advantage. But physically, I'd never fit in anywhere. I should be tan, sporty, blond -- a volleyball player, or a cheerleader, perhaps -- all the things that go with living in the valley of the sun. Instead, I was ivory-skinned, without even the excuse of blue eyes or red hair, despite the constant sunshine

of the girl's dead mother. M e r l i n is a surrogate parent to the young King Arthur, whose father is dead. M a n y heroes seek out Mentors because their own parents are inadequate role models. DRAMATIC FUNCTIONS TEACHING Just as learning is an important function of the hero, teaching or training is a key function of the Mentor. Training sergeants, drill instructors, professors, trail bosses, parents, grandparents, crusty old boxing coaches, and all those who teach a hero the ropes, are manifesting this archetype. O f course the teaching can go both ways. Anyone who has taught knows that you learn as much from your students as they do from you. GIFT-GIVING Giving gifts is also an important function of this archetype. In V l a d i m i r Propp's analysis of Russian fairy tales, Morphology of the Folktale, he identifies this function as

He is a very fine boy, and we have fallen deeply in love and are planning to get married. We haven't set the exact date yet, but it will be before my pregnancy begins to show. Yes, Mother and Dad, I am pregnant. I know how much you are looking forward to being grandparents and I know you will welcome the baby and give it the same love and devotion and tender care you gave me when I was a child. The reason for the delay in our marriage is that my boyfriend has a minor infec- tion which prevents us from passing our premarital blood tests and I carelessly caught it from him. I know that you will welcome him into our family with open arms. He is kind and, although not well educated, he is ambitious.

Republic, "whose lives the guillotine then surely swallowed up." A stamp bank was maintained at each censorship station; examiners removed loose stamps, which might spell out a code message, and replaced them with others of equal value, but of different number and denomination. Blank paper, often sent from the United States to relatives in paper-short countries, was similarly replaced from a paper bank to obviate secret-ink transmissions. Childish scrawls, sent from proud parents to proud grandparents, were removed because of the possibility of their covering a map. Even lovers' X's, meant as kisses, were heartlessly deleted if censors thought they might be a code. Censorship cable regulations prohibited sending any text that was unclear to the censor, including numbers unrelated to the text or a personal note in a business communication, and that was not in English, French, Spanish, or Portuguese plain language.
