Jane Eyre

Juhendaja: Kai Hermann Vana-Vigala 2014 Overview ''Jane Eyre'' was published in 1847 and brought fame to its author, Charlotte Bronte. The book incorporates many themes: the relations between men and women, gender equality, the treatment of children and of women, religious faith and religious life and the notion of true love. The 2011 movie is a faithful and intelligent adaptation of the classic novel. The film follows the basic storyline closely although the approach to the story and the way certain characters are portrayed differs from the novel. Analysis The book describes her as being unremarkable in the way she looks. The film preserves this premise and therefore maintains the importance placed on her character. The film's interpretation of the harsh manner Mr. Brocklehurst and the rigid strictness of the school are the same as the novel. There film deviates in two ways, however. Firstly, the way

You what you eat

Firstly, from my point of view we could make certain of a man by his food preferences. Food would inform not only about man's favourite meals but also about his life. Moreover where and what does the man eat tell us about his resources. With regard to the national food could tell about nationality and religion. Secondly, man's nutrition demonstrates his relation to life because life depends directly on health in its turn health depends on nutrition. It follows that very important when man commits to healthy nutrition and keeps himself from obsessive habits. Furthermore, if man wants to be healthy, he has to control the amount of food to avoid diseases. On the other hand, food is a human need therefore we could not judge people by food preferences. This is so because people always change and their preferences too. In conclusion, undoubtedly if we know man's food preferences, we can say something about him. However, it is just a little part of him

There were many nuances at a primal level that most of us could relate to. Not only do we see glimpses of personal life but we also see how the Corleone mafia worked as an organization. The workings of the mafia closely endorse some of the age-old motivation theories. The Godfather is the story of a Mafia family. It follows the rise of Michael Corleone within the family. Michael was once a war hero and did not want to be involved in the family business. When his father is shot though, Michael takes revenge on the people who did it and becomes a part of the Mafia lifestyle. When his older brother is murdered, Michael ascends to become the boss of the family, and proves to be more ruthless than his father and brother combined. Sailsbury Cathedral from the Meadows was painted by John Consatble in 1831, one year after his wife's death. He later added nine lines from ,,The Seasons" by 18th Century poet James Thomson that reveal the painting's meaning: That the rainbow is a symbol of hope after a storm that follows on the death of the young Amelia in the arms of her lover Celadon. I like the name of the painting Sailsbury Cathedral from the Meadows, because there is everything very clearly depicted in the painting is the perception and the message. In front of the painting you can see chariots with horses and in the background can be seen church and rainbow. Jacob offers to drive her to the hospital, but she refuses. Once at the Swan home, Bella tells Jacob to go home. He of course follows her inside anyway, where Charlie asks what the fuss is about. Jacob explains without reservation. Charlie responds only with pleasure over Jacob's actions. This irritates Bella. She silently gets herself some ice for her hand, and dials Edward on the phone. Surprisingly, but just that raised the vast of money. The total raised exceeded the income of the last year. Proposals In the light of this year`s experience, I would like to make some proposals for a similar event next year. The more different activities we have there, the better it is. My recommendations are as follows: sponsored runs, street parties, providing collectors with special badges etc. I hope we helped all disadvantaged children in Britain this year.

My analysis of the article “ Why Ebola is so dangerous”

Ebola virus disease, or simply Ebola, is a disease of humans and other primates caused by ebolaviruses. Signs and symptoms typically start between two days and three weeks after contracting the virus, as a fever, sore throat, muscle pain and headaches. Then, vomiting, diarrhea and rash usually follow, along with decreased function of the liver and kidneys. At this time, generally, some people begin to bleed both internally and externally. Death, if it occurs, follows typically six to sixteen days after symptoms appear and is often due to low blood pressure from fluid loss. The author of the article does not take sides. He is just describing the situation and does not give his own opinions. He quotes people who know more about Ebola and paraphrases their opinions. The aim of an article is to inform people of Ebola and make them think that it is not just a disease it is very dangerous disease because of how easily it spreads.

Puritanism in John Winthrop "A model of Christian Charity"

This sermon also represents the hope of the colony in God after repudiating the Church of England. In his sermon A modell of Christian charity, reliance to the Bible is the key element which reveals in the interpretation of God itself and morals of the Bible. He begins by offering explanation to the inequality of the human kind and why God wants such inequality to exist at all. Simple reciprocity is indicated by collating the rich and the poor as it follows: „soe that the riche and mighty should not eate upp the poore nor the poore and dispised rise upp against and shake off theire yoake” (Winthrop, 1996). These differences give humans the opportunity to manifest the work of the Spirit within them. The poor are recommended be loyal and honest in their worship to their betters and to authorities. The rich and powerful should honestly and loyally share justice and mercy to the poor. Because of that God’s ignition is to

Tom and Nick are acquaintances from college. Daisy-s appearance and the long-lasting impression she left on men is described through her voice by her cousin Nick. I looked back at my cousin, who began to ask me questions in her low, thrilling voice. It was the kind of voice that the ear follows up and down, as if each speech is an arrangement of notes that will never be played again. Her face was sad and lovely with bright things in it, bright eyes and a bright passionate mouth, but there was an excitement in her voice that men who had cared for her found difficult to forget: a singing compulsion. to be printed. Scholars are not certain when each of the 154 sonnets was composed, but evidence suggests that Shakespeare wrote sonnets throughout his career for a private readership. Even before the two unauthorized sonnets appeared in The Passionate Pilgrim in 1599, Francis Meres had referred in 1598 to Shakespeare's "sugred" Sonnets among his private friends". · Few analysts believe that the published collection follows Shakespeare's intended sequence. He seems to have planned two contrasting series: one about uncontrollable lust for a married woman of dark complexion (the "dark lady"), and one about conflicted love for a fair young man (the "fair youth"). · It remains unclear if these figures represent real individuals, or if the authorial "I" who addresses them represents Shakespeare himself, though Wordsworth believed

Surfing (esitluse tekst)

You have to give respect and behave while visiting a spot, keep things friendly, earn some respect yourself *You will never know what may happen out there and its better if you have some friend with you. They can look over you and you over them. * Always know the water where you choose to surf. * Clint Eastwood say in one of his movies (A man has to know his limits).Do not overestimate yourself, waves can be deadly. *And dont forget to have fun, thats why you are out there. *A surfing judge follows the basic principle that the surfer who rides a wave with the most speed, control, and power in the most critical section should receive the highest score. This principle is to be the basis for judging criteria. *The judging criteria shall be: THE CONTESTANT WHO EXECUTES THE MOST RADICAL MANEUVERS GENERATING POWER AND SPEED THROUGH OUT IN A FUNCTIONAL MANNER IN THE MOST CRITICAL SECTIONS OF THE BIGGEST AND/OR BEST WAVE FOR THE LONGEST FUNCTIONAL

In 2008 the Bollywood press romantically linked him to the Indian model Riya Sen, with whom he was otherwise a friend. In 1999 Rushdie had an operation to correct ptosis, a tendon condition that causes drooping eyelids and that, according to him, was making it increasingly difficult for him to open his eyes. "If I hadn't had an operation, in a couple of years from now I wouldn't have been able to open my eyes at all," he said. Midnight's Children follows the life of a child, born at the stroke of midnight as India gained its independence, who is endowed with special powers and a connection to other children born at the dawn of a new and tumultuous (rahutu) age in the history of the Indian sub- continent and the birth of the modern nation of India. The character of Saleem Sinai has been compared to Rushdie.

economic stability and provide peaceful conditions in the Roman province of Britannia to the south, to physically mark the frontier of the Empire, and to separate the unruly Selgovae tribe in the north from the Brigantes in the south and discourage them from uniting. The name is also sometimes used jocularly as a synonym for the border between Scotland and England, although for most of its length the wall follows a line well south of the modern border -- and neither the Scoti tribe nor the English lived in Britain at the time of the wall's construction. The wall was the northern border of the Empire in Britain for much of the Roman Empire's rule, and also the most heavily fortified border in the Empire. In addition to its use as a military fortification, it is thought that the gates through the wall would also have served as customs posts to allow trade taxation.

A doll house

Her reaction to these names are not rejection, but acceptance, as she clearly believed she "can't get anywhere without (his) help" (1137). Nora even receives an allowance that she spends as a child would, and Torvald even goes as far as choosing her clothes for the masquerade ball, like dressing a doll. During the first act, Nora seems to have little substance to her character as she does exactly what she is told, even when Torvald tells her not to eat macaroons. Nora follows her husbands orders out of fear of running her "beautiful happy home" (1113) and disrupting life "the way Torvald likes it" (1114). In contrast, during the third act Nora's resemblance to a doll begins to differ as she realizes the true, selfish intentions of her husband. Throughout the play Torvald claims he will protect Nora from whatever comes their way, yet at the moment he discovers her debt to Krogstad he has no intention of taking the blame and hurting his
