Mozambique. Indigenous cookery traditional South African cuisine In the precolonial period, indigenous cuisine was characterized by the use of a very wide range of fruits, nuts, bulbs, leaves and other products gathered from wild plants and by the hunting of wild game. The domestication of cattle in the region about two thousand years ago by Khoisan groups enabled the use of milk products and the availability of fresh meat. However, during the colonial period the seizure of communal land in South Africa restricted and discouraged traditional agriculture and wild harvesting, and reduced the extent of land available to black people. Decline of indigenous cookery Urbanization from the nineteenth century, coupled with close control over agricultural production, led black South Africans to rely more and more on comparatively expensive, industrially-processed foodstuffs like wheat flour, white rice, mealie

British Cuisine Some people criticize English food. They say it's unimaginable, boring, tasteless, it's chips with everything and totally overcooked vegetables. The basic ingredients, when fresh, are so full of flavour that British haven't had to invent sauces to disguise their natural taste. What can compare with fresh pees or new potatoes just boiled and served with butter? Why drown spring lamb in wine or cream and spices, when with just one or two herbs it is absolutely delicious? If you ask foreigners to name some typically English dishes, they will probably say "Fish and chips" then stop. It is disappointing, but true that, there is no tradition in England of eating in restaurants, because the food doesn't lend itself to such preparation. English cooking is found at home. So it is difficult to a good English restaurant with a reasonable prices.

Pickled herring — center of the smorgasbord You might swap out meatballs (köttbullar) for mini sausages (prinskorv) or pick cured salmon (gravad lax) rather than smoked, but your smorgasbord wouldn’t be complete without pickled herring (sill). For this fishy favorite remains the basis of every typical Swedish buffet. With an abundance of herring in both the North and Baltic Seas, Swedes have been pickling since the middle ages, mainly as a way of preserving the fish for storage and transportation. Pickled herring comes in a variety of flavors — mustard, onion, garlic and dill, to name a few — and is often eaten with boiled potatoes, sour cream, chopped chives, hard sharp cheese, sometimes boiled eggs, and of course, crisp bread. Pea soup and pancakes Many Sweden grow up eating pea soup and pancakes (ärtsoppa och pannkakor) on Thursdays. This tradition has been upheld by the Swedish Armed Forces since World War II

The traditional English drink is tea - it is drunk throughout the day and is often made during social occasions. Coffee has become popular in recent years, but many people continue to drink tea. In the UK there are as many different ways of making and drinking tea as there are flavours. People drink Indian teas, Chinese teas, herbal teas, and fruit teas. English tea is specially adapted for UK tastebuds. To make a cup of English tea the first step is to boil some water - usually in an electric kettle.

Topic of Australia

"aboriginal" means "the first" or "earliest known". It is confirmed that people lived in Australia about 40000 years ago. At that time, which is called the last great Ice Age, Australia was joined with New Guinea. Because sea passages were narrower between the Java and Borneo islands, the first Aborigines could reach Australia from the north. When they finally got to Australia, it was in a much better condition than nowadays. There were large animals, who are now extinct, that provided much meat. The Aborigines lived in harmony with the environment. Because they were cut off from the rest of the world, Aborigines could not trade goods, acquire animals or crop seed, which was very important because the land did not contain any cultivated crops. Aborigines lived in clans that all had occupied a piece of land. Nobody thought about selling, buying or trading land because the clan was a part of the land they owned. Finding food was not easy at that time. In some
