We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children Our planet has resources which are necessary for people's everyday life. As the population is growing the resources are decreasing. One of the things that affects the life on the earth is overconsumption. We consume more than what the earth can regenerate. This is a big problem because our exhaustible resources are running out. This is a problem that has huge consequences. It means that in the future people may not have enough resources, beacuse right now we are using too much. Secondly, there is a huge amout of waste and pollution. Clean air is our most valuable resource, but it is getting more and more polluted, in the same way as the water. For example, the pollution of water kills hundreds of thousands of birds and water animals. As a result of pollution , there are holes in the ozone layer, which in its turn loses some of its protection. Pollution is als...

We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children

We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children There is a saying that „we do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.“ Nowadays people don not think about it and are ruining the planet. There are researches which say that the human life on Earth will go extinct within a century. Eventually the Earth will become uninhabitable. People cannot change the past but their actions affect the future. One of the ways how people are affecting the lives of future generations is increasing pollution. Clean air and water are the most valuable resources, but they are getting more and

We Do Not Inherit the Earth From our Ancestors; We Borrow It From Our Children

We Do Not Inherit the Earth From our Ancestors; We Borrow It From Our Children Some of the people think that the Earth is like something, that we can take and it will grow back like apples every summer on trees. But I do not think it does. I think we borrow it from the future. Firstly we are using too much water nowadays. We are wasting it and not thinking about the future, but we should. Lately the media has started to speak more about the need for clean water, specially in some parts of the Earth. In the past people did not have showers or baths, toilets with water, dishwashers. These and many other things use more water, than people used to. Secondly we are producing a lot more, than we maybe should. It seems like the most meaningful thing nowadays is money. Maybe because of that we are over producing. If we look at the landfills we can see how full they are. I think it is that way because we produce too much and use too mu...

When a world loses a language it loses a unique treasure

A language dies in every 2 weeks. So what will be lost when a language dies? Much of human knowledge hasn't been written down and it lives in people's memories. In fact, there are even laguages that haven't been written down. In the olden days people use to tell stories. They didn't write them down, just told or sang them to others, who passed them on the same way and so they spread from generation to generation. Now if a language dies, the folklore dies with it. So we will also lose our ancestors knowledge, in what they believed in, what they valued. We will lose the myths and legends, how the world or a certain place was made. In fairytales people learn about virtues, how to make a difference between right and wrong. If that was lost, where will kids learn their values then? From society? Where there are liars, thiefs, frauds, hypocrisists, violent and selfish people? Or from cartoons, where a cat hits a mouse and the mouse hits it back?

If aborigines can prove they have always used particular land, it has not been sold, or changed by government acts, then the land could be claimed as aboriginal land. Religion The Aboriginal religion is based heavily on the Dreaming. The Dreaming is the Aboriginal creation story. Aborigines believe that at the beginning of time the world was a shapeless mass of nothing, waiting to be transformed into what we see today. The mythic beings called the ancestors arrived, the ancestors took many shapes, although most commonly they were great serpants. The ancestors began to travel across the world shaping the landscape and creating new life as they went. Every major geographical feature in Australia has an aboriginal story to explain it. The Dreaming gets very abstract, it turns almost into another dimension. Aborigines believe that they are constantly living in the Dreaming and that every time they do something they leave an impression on the other reality. The

This is probably because he still has the old nobility manners and thus tries to spend his free time this way. Many of his ancestors took part in these contests and many of them won there. So, he does not want to be worse than his ancestors were and uses a lot of time and care on these things. His main obsessions are the Empress of Blandings and the great pumpkin. (Quotes 3,4,10). Thus, the object named Lassie has the methods from both classes Collie and Dog. Multiple inheritance is inheritance from more than one ancestor class, neither of these ancestors being an ancestor of the other. For example, independent classes could define Dogs and Cats, and a Chimera object could be created from these two which inherits all the (multiple) behavior of cats and dogs. More recently two major new theories have been proposed. Mike Parker Pearson, head of the Stonehenge Riverside Project, has suggested that Stonehenge was part of a ritual landscape and was joined to Durrington Walls by their corresponding avenues and the River Avon. The area around Durrington Walls henge was a land of the living, whilst Stonehenge was a domain of the dead. A journey along the Avon to reach Stonehenge was part of a ritual passage from life to death, to celebrate past ancestors and the recently deceased. [11] On the other hand, Geoffery Wainwright, president of the Society of Antiquaries of London, and Timothy Darvill have suggested that Stonehenge was a place of healing the primeval equivalent of Lourdes. [12] They argue that this accounts for the high number of burials in the area and for the evidence of trauma deformity in some of the graves. However they do concede that the site was probably multifunctional and used for ancestor worship as well.[13]

´´ The poem is about different generations. And how we are fucked up by our parents and our parents were fucked up by their parents. And the best thing to do is not have any children. He says that man hands on misery to a man and the best thing to do is not have any children of your own. I think that with his last line /And don't have any kinds yourself/ he is not being pessimistic but he is warning the next generation. Basically we carry on the flaws of our ancestors and because of that our society does not improve. It's only getting worse. In addition to political and social poems, he also wrote love poems. For example ´´When First We Faced, and ´´Touching Showed´´, ´´Why did I Dream Of You Last Night?´´ and ´´To My Wife.´´ Actually Larkin was never married, though he was in a relationship three times. (1) The poem ´´Why Did I Dream About You Last Night?´´ is about his dream. He dreams of a woman about whom he can not dream

Family Dodgson's family was predominantly northern English, with Irish connections. Conservative and High Church Anglican, most of Dodgson's ancestors were army officers or Church of England clergymen. His greatgrandfather, also Charles Dodgson, had risen through the ranks of the church to become a bishop. His grandfather, another Charles, had been an army captain, killed in action in Ireland in 1803, when his two sons were hardly more than babies. His mother's name was Frances Jane Lutwidge. The elder of these sons yet another Charles was Carroll's father

On the other hand, Professor Mike Parker Pearson of Sheffield University has suggested that Stonehenge was part of a ritual landscape and was joined to Durrington Walls by their corresponding avenues and the River Avon. He suggests that the area around Durrington Walls Henge was a place of the living, whilst Stonehenge was a domain of the dead. A journey along the Avon to reach Stonehenge was part of a ritual passage from life to death, to celebrate past ancestors and the recently deceased.] Whatever religious, mystical or spiritual elements were central to Stonehenge, its design includes a celestial observatory function, which might have allowed prediction of eclipse, solstice, equinox and other celestial events important to a contemporary religion. As motorised traffic increased, the setting of the monument began to be affected by the

Therefore no interest was taken in it for more than 150 years, cause the land was described as sandy and waterless.

Champlain. Their first small community located in present-day New Brunswick which was called Acadia. There were really harsh climate conditions so they moved to a more sheltered harbour what is now Nova Scotia. They survived in Nova Scotia but they soon decided that their settlement was too far from the centre of fur trade and they chose to establish a new settlement along the St. Lawrence river. Some people decided to go back to Nova Scotia and they are the ancestors of the French-speaking Acadian peole today. Samuel de Champlain established to first settlement along the St. Lawrence river because of that he is known as the "Father of New France". The settlement had a good harbour and it was called Quebec. Most of the settlers died during the first winter. Samuel de Champlain realised that the colony needed more settlers to keep it alive. Unfortunately there were only 65 settlers in Quebec by 1627. By 1663 the population of New France was still quite small

The only inhabitants were dark-skinned people who were still living in a Stone Age. Their only weapons were stone knives, simple spears and boomerangs. They raised no crops and had no herds of tame animals. For food they hunted and fished and gathered wild fruits and nuts. But their tribes had wery well-worked-out customs. A few aborigines still live in the emptier part of the continent and follow the thousands-of-years-old customs of their ancestors. The Discovery of Australia Duch sailors stopped at several places on the northern and western coasts in the 1600s. They brought back word that the land was "of very little use". No wonder they had that idea. The northern shores of Australia are near enough to the equator to be very hot. They get a great deal of rain. The hot, wet climate is one that white people cannot stand well. Much of the western coast is dry and barren

The koalas live in eucalyptus trees, sleeping for 18 hours and drinking almost nothing. Both of those animals have pouches for their babies. Two very strange animals are the spiny anteater and the platypus. Their babies are born from eggs but drink milk from their mothers. There are more than 800 kinds of birds in Australia. The emu is a flightless bird. It is up to two metres tall and can run very fast. The first people to inhabit Australia were the ancestors of the Aborigines, who arrived over 40,000 years ago. The first Europeans to sight the Australian continent were the Dutch in 1606. They called what they had found New Holland, but made no attempt at settlement. In 1770, James Cook sailed there, mapping the east coast of Australia, which he named New South Wales and claimed for Britain. Britain started sending its convicts to the place now called Sydney, and they established the colony of New South Wales

The official name of the country is the Commonwealth of Australia. It's capital is Canberra. Australia is the sixth largest country in the world but the smallest continent. Australia has 6 states and 2 territories (New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland, Western Australia , South Australia, The Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory). The Australian people are culturally the same as the Anglo Americans. There also live aborigines. Aborigines are the ancestors of the people. Like the US and Canada, Australia was an English speaking colony of Great Britain. Today Australia is a modern developed country with a diversified economy. Australia is an island continent of 7.7 million square kilometres, which makes it a little smaller than the USA. Located in south of Asia, between The Pacific and Indian Oceans, Australia is the World's driest continent. Although large areas of the centre are desert, Australia has a wide range of

8. Natives Canada is a relatively young country whose recorded history goes back less than 500 years. When the European settlers arrived, Canada was already populated by a diverse range of aboriginal peoples, Indians and Inuit, who are thought to have arrived from Asia 10 3000 years ago by crossing a land bridge formed between Siberia and Alaska during the last ice age. It is believed that the ancestors of Canadian Inuit were inland hunters who adapted their lifestyle to new conditions. Some of them lived near the coast and began to hunt seals and walruses. Their main diet consisted of marine mammals and fish. Others never went to sea but hunted game in nearby areas. The traditional dwelling where the Inuit lived used to be an igloo, which is a domeshaped house built out of blocks of ice. The Inuit traveled in a sledge pulled by dogs and their main weapon was the harpoon.

the republic is celebrated on February 20. The national flower is cornflower, national bird is barn swallow and national stone is limestone. The oldest marks of habitation on the territory of Estonia date from the 8th millennium BC. Fortified settlements were established in the 1 st century BC. The ancestors of Estonians formed several independent states headed by elected elders. Until the beginning of the 13th century Estonia was politically independent. Then began a long chain of occupation and control by foreign powers. In the 1200s the German crusaders converted Estonia into a Christianity by force and took control over South Estonia. In 1219 Denmark conquered Northern Estonia. About a century later, in 1346 Denmark sold its territory to Germany

Notions for The New World Native Americans Origin of Native Americans Nearly one-third of Native American genes come from west Eurasian people linked to the Middle East and Europe, rather than entirely from East Asians as previously thought, according to a newly sequenced genome. Native peoples of North and South America descended from ancestors who arrived via land bridges from East Asia, possibly in a single migration. Different tribes and their way of life The men were hunters, warriors, and protectors, while the women tended to the children, their homes, and farmed. It depended on the tribe when it came to artwork. In some tribes, the men would actually weave baskets and blankets. Natural foods were consumed and hunted. Deer, buffalo, fish, and various birds were the game of choice

closest relatives "Obviously we have similarities. We have similarities with everything else in nature; it would be astonishing if we didn't. But we've got to look at the differences," says Ian Tattersall, a paleoanthropologist at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, US. To understand these differences, a good place to start is to look at how we got here. Why are we the only human species still alive today whereas many of our early-human ancestors went extinct? Neanderthals (left) didn't fare as well as we did (Credit: SPL) Neanderthals (left) didn't fare as well as we did (Credit: SPL) Humans and chimpanzees diverged from our common ancestor more than six million years ago. Fossil evidence points to the ways which we have gradually changed. We left the trees, started walking and began to live in larger groups. And then our brains got bigger. Physically we are another primate, but our bigger brains are unusual.
