Esimest korda mängiti seda Eestis 2001.aastal ning esimesed meistrivõistlused toimusid siin alles 2004.aastal, mis on kõigest 8 aastat tagasi. Curlingu mängijate arv vähehaaval kasvab, kuid olümpiaalana peaksime seda rohkem noortele tutvustama ka küsitlusi läbi viies ning seda spordiala populaarsemaks muutma. Uurimustöö eesmärk on saada Tallinna 32.Keskkooli õpilaste teadmisi curlingust.

Kanadas elab enim curlingu harrastajatest (1 miljon), ning seal asub ka kõige rohkem spetsiaalseid curlingu areene (1200). On tuvastatud, et curlingut mängiti Šotimaal juba 1500. aastal, ning sellest ajast alates on spordialale viidanud ka Šoti kirjandus. Esmakordselt oli curling taliolümpiamängudel kavas 1998. a

Enne pidulikku avamist edastame pressiteate Eesti ja välismaa uudisteagentuuridele, internetiportaalidele, ajalehtedele, raadio- ja televisioonikanalitele. Avamispäeval korraldame piduliku tseremoonia ja show, kuhu kutsume esinema iluuisu- ja hokiklubid, samuti võimlejaid, tsirkusetruppe, tantsijaid. Rahva sekka lapsi lõbustama tellime klouni. Korraldame ka väikese ilutulestiku. Avamiskampaania raames korraldame tasuta uisutamise nädala, kus tasuta vaba- aja uisutamine, curling, tutvumistunnid iluuisutamises, hokis (korraldavad vastavad klubid ise), kiiruisutamises ja uisutamise algõpetuses. Kingime ka õhupalle ja teeme lastele uisuteatevõistlusi. Kohal on kiiruisuklubi maskott, kes jagab lastele komme. Avamiskampaaniat reklaamime täiendavalt Tallinnas tänavapostide reklaamtahvlitel ja erinevates raadiokanalites. Suured reklaamtahvlid paigutame Tallinn-Tartu maantee äärde põllule Tallinna lähedale ja
Vancouveri taliolümpiamängud Robert Rivik 02.03.2010 XXI taliolümpiamängud toimusid Kanadas, Vancouveri linnas 12. veebruarist 28. veebruarini 2010. Vancouveris võisteldi viieteistkümnel spordialal: bobisõit, curling, iluuisutamine, jäähoki, kahevõistlus, kelgutamine, kiiruisutamine, laskesuusatamine, lumelauasõit, lühirajauisutamine, murdmaasuusatamine, mäesuusatamine, skeleton, suusahüpped, vigursuusatamine. Võistlejaid oli 2622, kokku 92 riigist. Eestit esindas 30 sportlast. Enim medaleid võitnud riigid: 1. USA 37 2. Saksamaa 30 3. Kanada 26 Enim kuldmedaleid võitnud riik oli Kanada 14 Eesti parim sportlane olümpial: Kristina Smigun-Vähi võitis ainsana eestlastest medali

he placed 1st in the same event in 2002 at the Salt Lake City Olympic Games. Winter sports made their Olympic debut at the Summer Games in London in 1908. Figure skating competitions were organised for men, women and pairs. The experience was repeated at the Antwerp Games in 1920, along with an ice hockey tournament. In Chamonix in 1924, the winter sports finally had their own Games. Six sports were on the programme: bobsleigh, curling, ice hockey, skating, Nordic skiing (cross-country) and the military patrol race. The number of sports at the Winter Games has remained quite stable over the years. However, the number of events has increased considerably. At the Salt Lake City Games in 2002, there were seven sports biathlon, bobsleigh, curling, ice hockey, luge, skating and skiing and a total of 78 events on the programme.
