Cinema is the most restricitve medium

The topic of this essay is cinema as the most restrictive medium. I would like to discuss the restrictions of cinema as such – what these are, how do they affect the medium. For example time limit of the films, budget, how it affects writer and director, what kind of choices they have to make, and how the audience come into play. Personally, i don’t consider cinema as a restrictive medium. Cinema’s most restrictive feature is time. Filmmakers must fit very good shots edited into very good storyline into one and a half to three hour movie, usually. The reason being, we get uncomfortable sitting long period of time. If the movies would be longer, we would lose interest and start doing something else. We would simply get uncomfortable sitting on a chair and the whole cinema experience would become agony. Furthermore, producing films can be expensive, especially longer films. All human resources want to be paid an hour wage, renting and building sets cost money etc

So do many of us. If we could, we would spend hours on the world's most popular social network. But at many academic institutions and office networks Facebook has been blocked to guarantee the irrelevancy. We try to deny the importance of the site but without success. It has changed our culture in many ways, making it so modernized that some of us cannot handle it. I am quite positive, that before the movie, people did not really know the basic story of how Facebook was invented. But by now, we have searched the internet, watched the magnificent movie and bought books titled similarly and can tell many interesting facts about our biggest entertainer. Even if the

Fox decided not to renew her contract. Monroe returned to modeling and began to network and make contacts. She posed for nude photographs which were later featured in the first issue of Playboy.[15] In 1948, during a six-month stint at Columbia Pictures, she starred in Ladies of the Chorus. The low- budget musical was not a success and Monroe was dropped again. She met one of Hollywood's top agents, Johnny Hyde, who had Fox re-sign her after MGM turned her down. Darryl F. Zanuck, the vice-president of Fox, was not convinced of Monroe's potential, but because of Hyde's persistence, she gained supporting parts in the Marx Brothers film Love Happy (1949), and in Fox's All About Eve and MGM's The Asphalt Jungle (both 1950). Even though the roles were small, moviegoers as well as critics took notice

Film Studies - The Black Dahlia

(he was once considered as a Hitchcock imitator) ``The Black Dahlia" can be classified as Film Noir. The genre is called Film Noir due to the `serie noir` books, which were publised in France (bethween 1940s and 1950s). These books were translations of American novels by authors like Dashiel Hammet, Raimond Chandler and James M. Cain. The novels usually talked about a strong, violent hero (anti-hero?) who moves through a corrupt dangerous world. ``The Black Dahlia`` is based on a novel by James Ellroy and not on a true Black Dahlia (murder) case. The theme of murder/crime/violence is one of the most important themes in Film Noir. In Film Noir morality is less clear (than in Western, for example, where there are simply to sides: good vs evil). There exists a feeling of paranoia about society, as we can clearly see in this film. At first, there is not explanation, why the horrible murder has taken place, at the end, the reasons, why come

What I liked most of all was the actors’ performances. Jaanika Arum is a skilled actress, her role in this movie was probably the most difficult one, and she did her best, playing with her emotions so skillfully that I often got the impression that I was watching a real person with bipolarity. Some of the film scenes were quite violent and I could feel the trepidation at times when the characters communicated with each other with aggression. Visually, the movie is enjoyable. I liked that the film director used simply and ordinary effects and it was not full of high-tech actions. It can not be said, that the background music and the theme songs were memorable and powerful, but they fitted in well. I think that the love theme between two people

What makes a good movie

What makes a good movie? There are many movies made every year but not all get a positive feedback. Some of them get very famous but some of them don't. So what kind of movies attract people to go to the cinema? It is not very simple to answer this question. Some of us like movies that are futuristic and mystical, but the others love movies that involve love, romance or even violent movies where they can see crime and investigation. I think a good movie has to be true-to-life and stunning. I especially love movies that surprise me. A superb movie has to be educative it has to let me know about something new. The best movies have professional actors. Without great actors and actresses, the movies are not so stunning. They need to make the movies seem real and original. People don't think the same way. We have different opinions, so not everyone like the movies that I enjoy watching. Nevertheless a movie has to be fascinating

Soon, the ultimate redemption arrives meeting Mr. Tyler Durden, the exact opposite of the narrator himself. I think for Mr. Palahniuk, the book is a way of telling the World how twisted the consumerist world is. The way of telling, is of course a bit extreme, depending on the readers taste, but I truly like it. Characters, like Mr. Durden himself, are to somewhat insane and perverse, as a normal person would not slice pornographic images into cinema projectable movies, but they serve their purpose. When I first read the book, it was nothing too special, but I couldn't put it away either. There was something strange that kept telling me not to stop reading. At some point, the style of the book, reminded me a bit of Kurt Vonnegut's style of realistic insanity. Anyhow, it was not

Would less TV and movie violence lead to fewer violent crimes

Would less TV and movie violence lead to fewer violent crimes TV and movies become more and more popular in each year. Reason why we enjoy that kind of entertainment is because of the excitement and fun it offers. There are lots of genres in movies and TV series but most watched of them is action where plenty of crime is shown. Because of the rise in crime and at the same time in action movies or series people have started worrying that these kind of movies affect people to commit more crimes. Firstly, action films/ TV series always include robberys, explosions, car chases, shooting and all the other more little crimes. Usually these movies/series have about the same plot, where there are good guys and bad guys fighting and chasing each other. Often in the end good guys somehow still capture the criminals and live happily forward. This actually shows that the good guys will always eventually capture the bad guys and criminals have no chance

Identity as a personal project

Then a person is free to go to “big world”, where his identity will develop inside a particular sociocultural space, with it´s own rules, processes and other people. In this space important is ability to be flexible, on the one side, and to stay individual on the other side. An identity should be strong and reflective to be able to change and to adapt. “Particular narrative going” Actually I like the metaphor, as I already mentioned, I think of an identity as a story and characters. I think every word in this metaphor means something special about self-identity. My own “narrative” consists of these three words “particular” “narrative” “going”. Like every story, my one has to be special, individual. The one I designed by myself and for myself. I find, that my own narrative was built with help of my family and friends – that’s what adds individual traits. I learned from my parents

All Marketers are liars

Stories are the only way to spread an idea. Marketers didn´t invent storytelling. They just perfected it. We tell ourselves stories, because we´re superstitious. Stories are shortcuts we use because we ´re too overwhelmed by data to discover all the details. We tell stories about products, services, friends, job seekers and sometimes even the weather. We tell ourselves stories that can´t possibly be true, but believing those allows us to function. Marketers are a special kind of liars. Marketers lie to consumers because consumers demand it. Some marketers to it well, others pretty bad. Sometimes the stories help people get more done, enjoy life more and even live longer. Other times, when the story isn´t authentic, it can have significant side effects and consumers pay the price. Truly great stories succeed because they are able to capture the imagination of large and important audiences. A great story is true

involve hundreds of people. Low-budget films are shot on limited budget, beacause young or unknown dircetors suffer from lack of funding from studios. Several organizations like The British Film Institute fund short films shot by first-time directors. Also The BBC, Channel 4 and National Lottery spend large amounts on film-making. After getting the money, the film-maker must think through every last detail. The scenery has to be built, technicians have to be hired and actors must be found for their roles. To make a movie, there's a lot of things to keep attention of, like camera movements, story line, characters and more..like actors looking and so on.. Prior to this momentous event that heralds an evolutionary transformation in the life of plants, the planet had already been covered in vegetation for millions of years. The first flower probably did not survive for long, and flowers must have remained rare and isolated phenomena, since conditions were most likely not yet favorable for a widespread flowering to occur. One day, however, a critical threshold was reached, and suddenly there would have been an explosion of color and scent all over the planet – if a perceiving consciousness had been there to witness it.

Dear John movie review Dear John is a romantic drama. It was released on February 5, 2010. The film was directed by Lasse Hallström and it is a movie made from a book from Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name. The key of the movie were love, war, loss, forgiveness. I liked the actors very much. The actors were Amanda Seyfried as Savannah and Channing Tatum as John. I liked Seyfried before I saw that movie, because she can play different roles and I believe her. She is a really good actor, not like most of the Hollywood actors. Tatum I saw acting the first time but I liked him too. They were really good together.
