SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE (2008)
Cast : Dev Patel , Freida Pinto, Anil Kapoor.
Directed by: Danny Boyle , Loveleen Tandan
REVIEW:
Slumdog Millionaire is a British drama film , based on adapation of the novel Q & A (2005) by Indian author and diplomat Vikas Swarup.
Slumdog Millionaire is set and filmed in India. It was dubbed in Hindi and the film dubbing superviser is Loveleen Tandan. Slumdog Millionaire was nominated for 10 oscars but won 8, including Best Picture of 2008
In  Mumbai  in 2006, eighteen-year-old Jamal Malik, a former  street child  , from the  Juhu  slum, is a contestant on the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, and is one question away from winning a fortune . However, before the 20 million question, he is detained and interrogated by the police , who suspect him of cheating .
Jamal recounts, through  flashbacks, the incidents in his life which provided him with each answer . These flashbacks tell the story of Jamal, his brother Salim and Latika . In each flashback Jamal has a point to remember one person , song , or different things that lead to the right answer of one of the questions . The row of questions does not correspond chronologically to Jamal´s life, so the story switches between different periods (childhood, adolescence) of Jamal. Some questions do not refer to points of his life (cricket champion ), but by witness he comes to the right answer.
I think it was an excellent movie with fantastic cast and acting . The director Danny Boyle is a master. Every scene is explosive- emotionally and visually. I loved the story of Jamal, it was very colorful and the special effects within were superb. The film gave me a good overview of the Indian orphans, slaughter, poverty, organised crime, enslavement and police brutality. But what i loved the most is that, besides all the brutality there is warmth and humanity in this film. The romance in this film is also breathtaking, the love story of Jamal and Latika is so sweet, that it brought tears to my eyes. The end is very moving and a wonderful soundtrack completes the entire experience.
This is one of my favourite films what i have seen in many years , so I would definitely recommend it to all my friends , because it`s about frendship and love and most of all it would be very educating for them to see all about India.

Explain why the idea was worth learning about in the text as a whole, using examples of visual and / or oral language features to support your ideas. In Slumdog Millionaire directed by Danny Boyle "Love conquers all" is an idea worth learning about. Boyle uses cinematography, dialogue & gesture and flashbacks to show this. Love conquers all is an idea worth learning about because you may come across it in many texts, it's a universal idea and it's appealing to us as an audience. Love conquers all is the common theme in the texts, especially those which feature young love. Other texts such as the well-known play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, to the

Book review. A&Q (Slumdog Millionaire)

Book Review Q and A (re-branded as Slumdog Millionaire) Q & A is a novel written by Vikas Swarup, an Indian diplomat. Published in 2005, it was the author's first novel. Set in India, it tells the story of Ram Mohammad Thomas, a poor young waiter who becomes the biggest quiz-show winner in history, only to be sent to jail on accusations (but with no evidence or proof) that he cheated. It was the basis of the 2008 feature film Slumdog Millionaire. The novel was re-published under the title Slumdog Millionaire after the success of the film. The book is divided into 14 topics (included the prologue and the epilogue). Each chapter of the book focuses on questions and answers from the quiz-show, but also a story, how Ram Mohammad Thomas knew answer for all the questions he was asked for. One of the main reasons whay I started to read this book, was the success of the movie Slumdog Millionaire

The lavish Technicolor comedy films established Monroe's "dumb blonde" on-screen persona.[15] In Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Monroe's turn as gold-digging showgirl Lorelei Lee won her rave reviews,[25] and the scene where she sang "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" has inspired the likes of Anna Nicole Smith, Madonna,[26] Kylie Minogue,[27] and Geri Halliwell. At one point it occured to me that when I want to be successful in some field, then I really have to educate myself in that filed. When my friends have characterised me then they have mainly mentioned that I am an active person, who has been successful in different fields. For me the key is my so called success has been that when dealing with a particular thing I have tried to delve into the subject as deep as possible. He is best known as the author for the novel Fight Club (1996), which was made into a movie in 1999. Palahniuk began writing fiction in his mid-thirties. When he attempted to publish his novel, Invisible Monsters, publishers rejected it for its disturbing content. This led him to work on Fight Club which he wrote as an attempt to disturb the publisher even more for rejecting him. After initially publishing it as a short story in the 1995 compilation, Pursuit of Happiness, Palahniuk expanded it into a full novel, which --contrary to his expectations--the publisher was willing to publish. Some other well-known novels: Rant, Choke, Diary. Analysis of the book 1. Setting The story takes place in somewhere between 1980s and 1990s in the United States. 2. Characters
