land and farms. Three generations of Joad's family are depicted in the book, Steinberg does not idealize them. They are illiterate, very suspicious, ignorat, quick tempered and crude- unsophistaicaded. However there are good qualities too, family comes first with them, there is wisdom, generosity, courage and persistance. Steinberg paints the portraits with ove and humour. The first generation we have Grandpa and Grandma. The founders of the family, they die at the end of the journey, their death is symbolical. Grandpa is lusty and indescent. And grandma is very religious and bios and sufferind all the time. Pa, Ma-father and mother, Pa is the official head of the family, has worked hard all his life to support his large family, but he hasn't been very succesful at it. The Ma is the real center of the family because he is both womanly and maternal and very hard working and persistent. The third generation is
suspects of having love affairs with other women, and of giving in to his mother's plans to marry him off to a rich Society woman. There is a bitter row, and Anna believes that the relationship is over. She starts to think of suicide as an escape from her torments. In her mental and emotional confusion, she sends a telegram to Vronsky asking him to come home to her, and pays a visit to Dolly and Kitty. Anna's confusion overcomes her, and in a parallel to the railway worker's accidental death in part 1, she commits suicide by throwing herself in the path of a train. Before the war, Himmelstoss was a postman. He is a petty, power-hungry little man who torments Paul and his friends during their training. He was really eager to help the police and tried to answer the questions as accurately as possible. George Bartlett was also a guest at the hotel. He was a dumb man who did not remember or pretended not to remember anything about the night when Ruby was murdered. The policemen were really annoyed with him and he was definitely a suspect. Ruby Keene was a young girl who was found dead from Mr and Mrs Bantry's home library. She had been strangled to death. Nobody nearby recognized the poor girl but police from a nearby county identified the body as a missing 18-year-old woman. She was a dancer at the Majestic Hotel and this leads the investigation there. There are many suspects-the widower of Conway Jefferson's daughter and the widow of his son because Conway wrote a will and put Ruby in it although he had known her only for about a week and she would have inherited lots of money from the sick man although the widower was in money problems.
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest Author Stieg Larsson was a Swedish journalist and writer. He was born in 1954. He is best known for writing the "Millennium series". He died suddenly and unexpectedly in November 2004, soon after delivering the manuscripts for "the Millennium trilogy". Since his death, Stieg Larsson has been haunting the bestseller list and popular media worldwide. There are many millions of copies of the millennium tilogy that has been sold worldwide. Unfortunately Larsson did not live to see the phenomenon his work has become. Sweden has already produced a trilogy of films based on the novels, and now Hollywood is doing the same.
