SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY A century ago communication across any distance was dependent upon the telegraph or letters. No jets crossed the ocean, no television pictures enabled us instantly to see events in any part of the world, there were no worldwide telephone networks and no computers. It is just a short lifetime since humanity first travelled into space and discovered how fragile our planet looks. FROM FIREWORKS TO THE MOON At first glance you might think that there couldn't possibly be anything common between a 13 th century festival in China and the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969. However, there is a link and that is that they both relied on the use of rockets. The Chinese first developed rockets by filling bamboo tubes with an explosive made from saltpetre, charcoal, and sulphur. The sealed tubes would be thrown onto fires during celebrations because it was thought that the loud explosions would protect them
people and therefore big companies have to be more planet friendly because otherwise many people would not buy their products and buy something more economically friendly, in this case Coca-Cola. That shows how one company can be a gamechanger to other companies and talks loudly about the influence of Coca-Cola Company. Previously mentioned example was just one specific example how much power can one company have. On the wider scale Coca-Cola Company creates many jobs and gives income to people in every region of the world and that in general boosts the economy of the world. Last year 61 thousand people (a huge downgrade from 2012 when 150 thousand people worked for the company) worked for Coca-Cola Company and created a revenue of 35 billion U.S dollars worldwide when the Estonian state budget for 2018 is only 10,58 billion euros (Statista). Other than generating jobs and money Coca-Cola Company has a huge role in politics as well

Estonian Business School ANALYSIS OF A PRESENTATION Home assignment Tallinn 2015 For the home assignment we had to choose one presentation from Ted.com. I chose about a 4 minute presentation by Nilofer Merchant on the following topic: “Got a meeting? Take a walk”. The main reason for choosing this presentation was that I had read Steve Jobs's biographical book and there he talked how he liked to go for a walk when having a meeting and therefore, I thought it would be a good idea to get to know a bit more about something that I already know about. Also, I think that in the future, it pays off to know some easy tricks about how to make your meetings more interesting, more memorable and more healthier. Last thing mentioned in the previous paragraph is nowadays in my opinion, one of the hottest topics and we can see it in the headlines on a daily basis. I am quite sure that people understand how important it is to take care of your
.................................................................... 10 2 Introduction. Years ago countries didn’t depend so much on imports and also on export. World has so many organizations controlling countries economics like WTO, The European Union, OPEC, NAFTA, ASEAN, APEC, MERCOSUR, CEEAC, IMF, World Bank and so on. Nowadays because of globalization there are large corporations like Apple, Gazprom and Allianz who rules the world and control the economic outcome with big organizations that are roled by influencial countries like China and USA. This essay is about criticism to IMF and World Bank. Critics of the World Bank and the IMF are concerned about the ‘conditionalities’ imposed on borrower countries. Often the conditionalities are attached without due regard for the borrower countries’ individual
1 The Medium Is the Message In a culture like ours, long accustomed to splitting and dividing all things as a means of control, it is sometimes a bit of a shock to be reminded that, in operational and practical fact,, the medium is the message. This is merely to say that the personal and social consequences of any medium-that is, of any extension of ourselves-result from the new scale that is introduced into our affairs by each extension of ourselves, or by any new technology. Thus, with automation, for example, the new patterns of human association tend to eliminate jobs, it is true. That is the negative result. Positively, automation creates roles for people, which is to say depth of involvement in their work and human association that our preceding mechanical technology had destroyed. Many people would be disposed to say that it was not the machine, but what one did with the machine, that was its meaning or message. In terms of the ways in

Thirdly I will talk about Nokia's basic business tactics. I will give a brief description of its strategy and vision concerning the future. That will be followed by a description of Nokia's basic products. In conclusion I will be giving my own opinion about Nokia and review the main points of the report. HISTORY The firm Nokia we know today has greatly changed comparing to the time it first started under the name of Nokia. Nokia was established in 1865 as a pulp mill by Knut Fredrik Idestam in the town of Tampere, in south-western Finland. In the beginning of 20th Finnish Rubber Works acquired Nokia Wood Mills and Finnish Cable Works and all these three companies were merged into the Nokia Corporation. This corporation involved in many sectors, producing at one time or another paper products, bicycle and
I choose this topic because I want to get know more about local Theatres I hoped to get more information about their location, for whom each theatre is designed and a little overview about their history. The history of Estonian theatre does not differ much from that of the neighbor countries. The first play was performed in the 16th century at the Tallinn Town Hall. The town school children, who were Germans, staged Terence's The Andria in Latin. The first theatre house in Tallinn was mentioned in written materials which date from the late 17th century; the house was used by travelling theatre groups. Tallinn was already known then as a theatre-loving city. The first prominent name in Estonian history of theatre, August von Kotzebue, dates from the same period. The Russian authorities sent him from St. Petersburg to Tallinn to work as an official. Kotzebue's entertaining productions became famous all over Europe. He founded the
