WT Letter to a Friend Dear Tom, Sorry I haven't written you for a while, but I've just returned from a a week's holiday in United Kingdom, London. We stayed in one of the city's best hotels. The hotel was Radisson SAS and it was right in the centre of the city. It was ideal to go sightseeing and shopping. London is spectacular city. It's the largest city in the United Kingdom, very historic, cultured, peaceful and beautiful at the same time. Did you know, that London has the oldest, longest and the most expensive underground network, dating from 1863 called The Tube? There are plenty of things to do there, too. Today it houses the crown jewels and has a museum filled with armor, weapons and implements of torture. Another popular tourist sight is the London eye. Constructed by British Airways, it towers 135 meters above the banks of the Thames River. It is located near Big Ben and Westminster Abbey, on the opposite bank, adjacent to London's county hall. Views from the eye are spectacular and on a clear day most of London can be seen. If there's only one museum that can be seen, the British Museum is the one to visit. This museum has some of the largest collections on human culture and history. It is the home of the Rosetta Stone and has one of the most comprehensive ancient coin collections on exhibit. In fact the British Museum estimates that it has over thirteen million objects cataloged.

Tartu Located in the South of Estonia, Tartu is one of Estonia's most beautiful cities. I chose to write about Tartu, because with its beautiful green parks and spectacular culture, it's the perfect holiday destination. There are many really beautiful buildings that have been restored after World War II. Most of them are in the heart of the city. There's also a place called the Dome Hill. It's a hill where you can see various monuments and there are also the ruins of the Dome Church. Currently, the building is occupied by a history museum and the visitors can use an observation platform on the roof and enjoy a picturesque view of the city

The pros and cons of working as a fisherman

Of course you'll get sick of fish, when breakfast, supper and dinner all are mere fish. But still, it's an advantage. In my opinion, the biggest advantage of being a fisherman is that you can travel a lot. My grandpa was a fisherman and he has been to North America, Africa, Siberia (not with the train) and Iran and most European countries. So he has got many stories to tell from buying a monkey to the storm in the middle of Atlantic. If you are a fisher you surely will have a spectacular life. I guess they get paid quite well too, mostly depending on luck. Sometimes happens that you are said to catch sprat but you get herring and the other way. Being a fisher means that you can't see your family too often, you can get seasick, what's really bad, because imagine that you are travelling across the Atlantic and you puke after each meal. A sure disadvantage is your catch, because your payment depends on how much you catch

"Dover Beach" by Matthew Arnolds "Dover Beach" describes how the author falls deep into thought when admiring the sea with his lover and comes to a sad conclusion. In the first stanza, he describes the beauty of the sea as he is watching out the window. He says that he can see the light gleam and then disappear upon the French coast, wich suggests that the sun is setting, making the scene all the more spectacular. He emphasises the calm impression the glimmering sea and the mighty cliffs in the distance give and seems to be touched by all this, his heart filled with what might be nostalgia, thoughtfullness or just pure understanding of how simple life really is. Wanting to share the moment with his lover, he asks her to join him by the window and draws attention to the never-ending sound of the waves clashing against the shore and moving pebbles. Alas, this sound seems to bring

At the one moment he was serious and the few minutes later he was joking and laughing. I didn´t liked Helen Mirren, who played the Queen. I think she was a little bit fake and I didn´t believe all the words what she said. Also I didn't liked that she was callous and apathetic. But when she had to play her role like that, she played it well. For me the film wasn´t exactly what I expected. Some scenes were boring and I couldn´t watch them without yawning. I couldn´t see any spectacular visual effects or any breathtaking moments. In conclusion I don´t recommend to watch that film. London - the capital of Great Britain

There are many famous historical buildings in the City. The Houses of Parliament are one of them. It was constructed from 1840 until 1888. From 1875 the parliament meetings take place there. There are 1100 rooms, and 3.2 km of corridors. The Houses of Parliament consists of two parts the house of the lords and the house of the commons. The clock tower Big Ben is a part of the houses of parliament. Big Ben is one of London's best-known landmarks, and looks most spectacular at night when the clock faces are illuminated. You even know when parliament is in session, because a light shines above the clock face. The name Big Ben actually refers not to the clock-tower itself, but to the thirteen ton bell in it. The four dials of the clock are 23 feet square, the minute hand is 14 feet long and the figures are 2 feet high. During the business hours the streets of the City are full of people. From within, admire vaulted roofs and brightly decorated colonnades, from outside marvel at the slender tower, topped with Renaissance spire (added in 1627), reaching 64m towards the ether. Incidentally, the moustachioed weather vane on top is the symbolic guardian of the city - Vana Toomas! http://www.tallinn-life.com/culture/culture_details/1-Tallinn_Town_Hall Alexander Nevsky Cathedral One of Tallinn's most resplendent monuments, but not one of it's most popular, the spectacular Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was built on orders from St. Petersburg during the times of Russian Imperial rule. Supposedly built on the grave of a legendary Estonian hero, Kalevipoeg, on the city's mighty Toompea Hill, the Orthodox cathedral was something of a Russian propaganda exercise at the time and still remains a subject of controversy amongst hardline patriots. Most locals though are content to admire the Alexander Nevsky as the fine piece of architecture. http://www.tallinn-life

By using all of the momentum from giants and then releasing at the proper point, enough height can be achieved for spectacular dismounts, such as a triple-back salto. There is considerable leeway for adjustment of the siting and configuration of the above grade buildings under consideration. At this level of investigation, only schematic studies of this question can be undertaken. A number of schemes of massing options have been studied, and the strongest two have been selected for illustration to suggest alternate ways to approach this unique problem. At this stage, it is suggested that the recommendations in this study be equally reviewed. Spectacular solar site: the southern face along Grant Road will provide enough solar energy for the entire three level structure. Skylights, balconies, and sunken gardens provide light to below grade levels. An open design: interior plan of lower level conference room utilizes moving dividing walls to create privacy amongst community. Above is a detail from the proposed expansion plan north of the Grant Community Center.

It became an island by about 6000 BC. From about 3000 to 2000 BC the British Isles were inhabited by a group of people called the Iberians. These Stone Age people lived in limestone caves, they used stone axes and fashioned antlers and bones into leather-working tools. Later groups of people from what are now Germany, the Netherlands and Brittany also settled in Briton. During the Bronze Age, they mined tin, gold and copper and made bronze tools. They also probably built the spectacular prehistoric megaliths, such as Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain. The Celts invaded the British Isles in the 5th century BC in two waves. The Britons grew wheat and corn, caught fish, and tamed and bred animals. They made coarse cloth for their clothes, learned the art of pottery, made things of wool, metal and copper, and were good warriors. They traded with the Gauls and built many temples and altars. The Celts brought with them a

Sandrigham house

For the house and furnishings, the Prince paid £220,000. Sandringham's first role was as a home for newly-weds. Prince Albert Edward married Princess Alexandra of Denmark on 10 March 1863, and they travelled to Norfolk 18 days later. The young couple made many extensions and improvements to the house and estate, including the construction of new roads, the rebuilding of cottages and landscaping. A new garden wall was built to accommodate the magnificent gift of the famous Norwich Gates - spectacular ironwork gates designed by Thomas Jekyll and presented as a wedding gift by the people of Norwich and Norfolk. It became obvious that the existing house was not suitable for large social gatherings and a growing family, so the Prince of Wales rebuilt it completely. As home to the heir to the throne and his wife, Sandringham was venue to many glittering occasions. Social life ranged from visits by Heads of State (1881, 1899 and 1902 by Kaiser Wilhelm) to informal retreats by the Royal Family

rotation causes Saturn to spread out, or oblate, its center. Since Saturn is a gas planet, it does not have a solid surface. Spacecraft are unable to land on this type of surface. The clouds that are seen when looking at Saturn are just the top layer of a very deep layer that covers a center of liquid hydrogen. The clouds are blown by constant winds that reach speeds up to one thousand miles per hour at the equator of the planet ("Great Space Place"). The rings of Saturn are more spectacular than those of any other planet. Although this planet's rings are very wide, extending from the top of its atmosphere to well beyond the orbits of its closest moons, they are very thin, measuring no more than a few kilometers (about a mile) in thickness ("Great Space Place"). The Pioneer 11 flyby made several discoveries about the rings. The rings are made of particles that are dust-sized up to large mountain-sized masses, with the average size being in the marble to basketball range -

Sports. Sports has a very old history. The ancient Olympic Games were the first big sports competitions. The history of the Olympic Games is linked with many myths referred to in ancient sources, but in the historic years their founder is said to be Oxylos whose descendant Ifitos later rejuvenated the Games. According to the tradition, the Olympic Games began in 776 B.C. when Ifitos made a treaty with Lycourgos the king and famous legislator of Sparta and Cleisthenes the king of Pissa. In this treaty that was the decisive event for the development of the sanctuary as a Panhellenic centre, the "sacred truce" was agreed. That is to say ceasing of fighting in all of the Freek world for as long as the Olympic Games were on. The Olympic Games were held, after the completion of four years during the month of July or August. The time between two competitions was ca...

The tributaries of Mississippi-the Ohio and the Tennessee are also very long. Climate Every type of climate can be found in the United States due to the tremendous size of the North American landmass. Most of the country has a humid continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. Because of the lack of the natural barriers in south and north, dry air flows south from Canada, and warm, humid air north from the Gulf of Mexico. The Great Plains and Midwest have spectacular weather, with hot and humid summers. The rainfall decreases to the west due to rain shadow caused by Sierra Nevada. The southwest part of the Great Plains is the hottest and driest region of the U.S. The Pacific coast is almost rainless in the summer, but having often fog. IN the winter there is frequent drizzle, but the climate is still, warm. The eastern part of the county is moderately rainy and the summers are extremely humid. History
