In Slumdog Millionaire directed by Danny Boyle "Love conquers all" is an idea worth learning about. Boyle uses cinematography, dialogue & gesture and flashbacks to show this. Love conquers all is an idea worth learning about because you may come across it in many texts, it's a universal idea and it's appealing to us as an audience. Book review. A&Q (Slumdog Millionaire)

Book Review Q and A (re-branded as Slumdog Millionaire) Q & A is a novel written by Vikas Swarup, an Indian diplomat. Published in 2005, it was the author's first novel. Set in India, it tells the story of Ram Mohammad Thomas, a poor young waiter who becomes the biggest quiz-show winner in history, only to be sent to jail on accusations (but with no evidence or proof) that he cheated. It was the basis of the 2008 feature film Slumdog Millionaire. The novel was re-published under the title Slumdog Millionaire after the success of the film. The book is divided into 14 topics (included the prologue and the epilogue). Each chapter of the book focuses on questions and answers from the quiz-show, but also a story, how Ram Mohammad Thomas knew answer for all the questions he was asked for. One of the main reasons whay I started to read this book, was the success of the movie Slumdog Millionaire

ornithopter. The wings on that device were somewhat similar to a bat, which lead Kane on to develop Batman. Batman's original mask was inspired by the film "The Mask of Zorro", but when Kane showed his drawings to Bill Finger, they decided upon adding the distinctive points on the character's cowl to make him look more like a bat. Finger also found the original wings to be too gangly and recommended more elegant and simple scowled cape for the hero. It was also Finger's suggestion to have the hero's eyes while wearing the costume be simple white spots, which would remind the empty eyes of a bat

For me it has always been unpleasant when someone is between the lines trying to say that you will never succeed in something. I have always taken such situations as challenges. This year I participated in a work shadow day. I remember that I had to fill in different forms, concerning the subject of the theme. I got back an answer that they do not have anynobody to offer me at the moment. Although they attracted my attention that I had a chance to apply for the crowns of the work shadow day, for who was a really tough competition. I saw there was even the foreign minister. Film Studies - The Black Dahlia

How genre and narrative makes meaning in ``The Black Dahlia`` When analyzing a film, people understand the movie is much more complicated than it seems. To make a difference, to give a meaning to the film, film-makers have used different visual and thematic features. There are macro features (genre, narrative) as well as micro features (mise en scene, cinematography) and they are linked together in many ways. I have chosen to analyse the closing sequence of ``The Black Dahlia``, directed by Brian de Palma, and I will focus on macro features in this essay. The wonderful mixture of romance and comedy makes me want to watch it all over again and again. The film itself was written my Marc Norman and directed by John Madden and playwright Tom Stoppard. The plot talks about a 16th century playwright named William Shakespeare (Joseph Fiennes),who is suffering from lack of inspiration. Meanwhile there is a young wealthy lady named Viola de Lesseps (Gwyneth Paltrow) who has always dreamed about becoming an actress and one day hoped to find true love. He was having parties at his house all the time with young women coming over. He was a rich man working in the film business. For many people, money is the most important thing in the world What is the meaning of life? What is happiness? Surely everyone has asked these questions from himself and has thought about that. It can not be answered the same, because people have different personalities and value judgements. It looks like for some people happiness depends on that how much money they can earn. Money is for them the most important thing in the world. Somehow money is important for all of us. We need it for everything: to buy food, clothes and other bare necessities. Also we buy other things and services that are less necessity, but we just want to buy them

"I think it's a shame," she said, "that when a policeman gets to be as senior as you, they keep him walking about on his feet all day long." He didn't answer, so she bent her head again and went on with her sewing; bet each time he lifted the drink to his lips, she heard the ice cubes clinking against the side of the glass. "Darling," she said. "Would you like me to get you some cheese? I haven't made any supper because it's Thursday." "No," he said. "If you're too tired to eat out," she went on, "it's still not too late. There's plenty of meat and stuff in the freezer, and you can have it right here and not even move out of the chair."

Lt. Colonel teaches a lady to dance the tango. It is so smooth and dramatic that even a couch potato is tempted to dance along. The second and most profound is the speech that Al Pacino makes in defense of Charlie at the prep school disciplinary hearing. It has to go down as one of the great orations of all times. I also love the ferrari scene, where Charlie allows the Colonel to drive. In my opinion the purpose of this film is to make people think more about others. It touched me, and even made me cry a bit. I really think it fulfilled it's purpose. The dialogue in Scent of a woman is so well-written, very quotable, the acting unbelievable. The film includes only what's necessary, because it's interesting to watch and I never got bored of it, it was an exciting experience. Pacino makes Scent of a woman something very memorable, powerful and a life affirming film experience

Craik and Tulving investigated how the levels of processing influence memory. Participants were presented with a series of 60 words about which they had to answer one of three questions. Some questions required the participants to process the word in a deep way and others in a shallow way. Then they were given a list of 180 words, with the previous 60 included and were asked to pick out the original words. Results showed that the participants recalled more words that were semantically processed compared to phonemically and visually processed words.
